Damn @Luetin09 I hope the grandfathers gift passes soon, I started getting into 40k in 1999-2000 as a broke college student, the broke part kept me from really getting into the game. Recently I've been getting back into the lore of 40k (holy crap it changed a lot) and I came across your content, well done, you make me regret not getting more into it earlier!
So about depleted Deuterium, I think I get why they chose that although the chemistry of it is a little off (I mean, its 40k) so depleted elements are stripped of a electron making it a isotope of element. The only subatomic particles with mass are protons and neutrons, so deuterium would have a proton and neutron with no electron to give it charge. So if you can make the depleted deuterium somehow keep its form it would literally be close to the densest possible element under standard pressures.
I'm a guy who had to retake chem, so don't take it as gospel, but I watched one of your videos about bolters and that thought has been banging around my head for a few days.

I'm glad to say that after several years of listening to lore without ever touching the game itself, I have finally gotten around to actually playing warhammer 40k, and I'm loving it. For now I'm doing it through a game called "Table Top Simulator", which doesn't have the satisfaction of real miniatures, but does have the satisfaction of having already assembled a full militarum, t'au and eldar army (with more on the way) for the low sum of 13 dollars. But I will almost certainly acquire a physical army eventually. I love the lore and it will likely continue to be my favorite aspect of warhammer, but its nice to finally find enjoyment in the game itself as well.

    • @averybaumann

What simulator are you using? The price of an army isn't ONLY a house payment or 2 you also have to paint it so the time means several house payments, then there is the space ant terrain and setup plus it takes most of a day or at least an afternoon to play a game

I think many people forget the scarcity of Space Marines and that most chapters are codex complient. So 40 Marines taking out 500+ Dark Eldari is no small feet. Nice to see you back Luetin, and thank you for another great lore video - may gandpappy Nurgle's blessings have educated and ultimate strengthened your various immune system cells!
I think the Iron Snake's fixation with strategic perfection over force, and their aloofness, have let them down WRT Naxos: What was a mining colony potentially on the cusp of new phase of productiveness is left in no position to make good future contribution to the imperium. The colonists, meanwhile, will very likely not appreciate the Astartes bigger picture. Worse, as the Astartes did not deign to explain it, or to even publicly acknowledge the sacrifices of the colonists (who, proportionally, faced a far more terrifying foe thanks to their lack of training, weaponry, augmentations and tactical knowledge) every one of those colonists will now be a merry little spark of sedition looking for an ear and a discontented mind to fan into flames of rebellion; "The Astartes came, and we saw how mighty they are, and we saw that they cared nothing for our lives, only for maximising the blood they could spill.," they will tell anyone who will listen.
Perhaps there was no choice in this instance, strategically. But, then, given the attitude of these Astartes, perhaps not. And it is such an attitude that is causing the Imperium to rot, gloriously, from within. And so all things come closer still to the wonderous embrace of frozen and desolate, eternal death and night. MWAHAHAHAHAHAH! :D :D :D :D

One after the battle of Vervenhive and one after the battle on Monthax if i remember correctly. And in the first book of Warhammer Crimes, the main character (whos name escapes me right now) uses the fact that he doesnt want to be waiting with baited breath for the letter of death to come back to dissuade his daughter from joining the guard.

Top notch, history-documentary-level production as always, you’re efforts are much appreciated, especially after Nurgle’s blessings upon you. This is a great example of the value of human life to the Astartes, and a great segment to add before the continuation of that series you have plan.
And I’m sorry, I know it’s a huge mental obstacle to do, but I need to ask if Dark Origins can be done for Christmas? I feel like that would be a massive relief for yourself and a great deal of your community, I feel as if you have enough pieces to at least speculatively at a somewhat plausible degree of conclusions where they might fall into place, but I have a feeling it’s going to need EVERYTHING to do it. Great video and insight of one battle to show how how Astartes are phenomenal at strategy but don't worry about the loss of human life as long as they are successful. Unless you get chapters like the Salamanders, Blood Angels, Ultramarines, and such.

I love 40k names. You get some awesome sci fi stuff, then you get stuff like Naxos or Corinth. To us Greeks its like if an american came across a 40k planet called "miami" or "los angeles".
    But i personally love it.

I remember reading _Know No Fear_ & reading about Saur Damocles & his company on Calth, who would eventually go on to survive the Atrocity & Underworld War there & go on to found the later Chapter after the Heresy, & seeing some action with the Chapter here is interesting to say the least👌
