Rosemary is an amazing herb that people use for all different kinds of things. People use rosemary as tea. They also use it in their food, marinades, stews, soups, and food preservatives. Rosemary is even used in certain cosmetics.
Rosemary has some very interesting properties, mainly from rosmarinic acid. Rosmarinic acid is the main phytonutrient in rosemary, and it has some really cool effects.
Rosemary can help stimulate hair growth when used as an oil and applied to the scalp. One study showed a significant change when using rosemary to help inhibit cognitive decline. Another study showed that rosemary can increase insulin sensitivity and help with weight loss. Rosemary is also neuroprotective.
There are potential benefits when using rosemary for:
• Epilepsy
• Pain relief
• Infertility
• Anxiety
• Constipation
• Muscle pain
• Diabetes
• Inflammation
If you have insulin resistance, which is very common, rosemary is a very good herb to use in your food on a regular basis.

Thanks for watching! I hope this helps explain the benefits of rosemary.
I love Rosemary. I don't know if she feels the same about me, though. Just don't tell Ginger; she gets very jealous.
Lol, thanks I needed that! 😝
Rosemary loves you more. Ginger is king of spices so can't be jealous as they are not in the same category and all herbs bow down to spices.
Please don't waste our thyme on here playing the love CARDamom.
im telling Delilah the Goliath youre cheating on her, wait till she finds you and performs a 300lb freefall wrestling maneuver on you..
Lol....I love this.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rosemary, crushed garlic and olive oil. Make a paste and slather it over chicken, beef or lamb. Slide it under the skin of a roasting chicken. The bomb!!!!
That does sound good.
Lemon zest as well!
YUMMY
WOW! I must try it!!
You can drizzle it on a baked potato too. Although I usually use butter instead of olive oil.
I often learn a lot, not only in the video, but also very crucial are the commentaries of the public. Thanks to all!
The benefits of rosemary also have its ability to improve mood. The smell of rosemary affects certain areas of the brain and works to improve mood and relaxation.
And memory
I must be broken, I hate the smell. I ripped out two full bushes of it in my front yard.
@@beasthandler9263 interesting, I used to dislike the scent and taste. I have a huge bush in my back yard and have acquired a taste for it over time. I don't love it, but I'll take Rosemary over Sage any day.
@@beasthandler9263 i did the same thing!! The smell would give me a migraine every time the gardener would cut them until I figured out what it was and had him rip the bushes out ..migraines gone!
:) I used to hedge trim rosemary (school gardening). Once after a whole afternoon of trimming I was completely soaked in male sweat and rosemary juice and when refueling the car on the way home the serving girl was ecstatic. She said to me, "you smell SO GOOD!".
In "Hamlet", one of the characters says "Here's rosemary, that's for remembrance; I pray you lord, remember." So Shakespeare knew that it helps memory. I may have misquoted as I don't have the text to hand, but the principle is clear.
Also, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in El Quijote de la Mancha mention the benefits from the rosemary ."Romero" in the language of Cervantes, perhaps inspired , the same than Shakespeare, by Discorides.
I went to a Mexican restaurant once, the rice was so delicious and I could not figure out what the flavor was. My daughter and I finally picked through it enough that we found the bits of Rosemary in the rice
Hey thank for posting, never thought of putting rosemary in rice.
Picky eaters!
@@bobboscarato1313 lol that is funny
I add all sorts of spices and herbs to my rice for experimental and fun purposes. I added rosemary once, other time i would add lavendars and i would even tried rose water. Its fun and delicious!
thank you for mentioning it. I have plenty of Rosemary and you just gave me a new idea
I put a bunch inside the bottle of olive oil for couple of weeks and drizzle over my dinner or breakfast eggs or just toast. Refreshing, revitalizing.🌷
Good but toast is out of the zone...
@@Li_ShuWei Maybe it’s keto bread. I make toast out of homemade keto bread all the time.
Wow good idea. Thank you
Was it dried or fresh...I find the the dried as more pungency; would think that's more oil coming forth...
How ironic.. I've been so interested in rosemary lately and recently I just tried rosemary tea. Thankyou!
as an herbalist i use rosemary to stimulate blood circulation in the fine vessels. feet and hands that stay cold, ( winter hands) low bloodpressure. calming and strengthening effect of the central nerve system.
Eduard. So interesting. Are you taking it as a tea? Or using the oil as a topical on the hands and feet? Would love to help a loved one with neuropathy. 😊 Thank you
@@MAK_9833 use essential rosemary oil and choose a carrier. almond, arganan, etc.oil. or make your own extract. fresh leaves in a few centimeters oil ( leave half a centimeter oil o top) in an open glass bottle. heat ''au bain marie'' a couple of hours.
Edward, You say it helps the nervous system? How do I take it. I have high blood pressure is ok to take it? Thanks
Fresh rosemary tea made my blood pressure go up and made my heart race.
@@reinier34 This method treats peripheral neuropathy. I mean rosemary leaves, meaning a large hanging of rosemary leaves on a glass of water soaked. Does this method help and also, did you use rosemary oil for fat feet?
Everytime the cooks bake w it in the restaurant, I smell an incredible aroma and now I'm using it! Wow,so many benefits!!
I invented a Rosemary mosquito repellent that’s good for people and pets. Take a big batch of Rosemary, strip the stems, place in a blender with good ,first cold press, organic , olive oil. Blend well. Do small batches because it’s easier to blend. You will need to strain it and place the Rosemary oil in small jars. Dab on liberally. Mosquitoes won’t bite! Last a long time, if kept in a cool dark place. Also, found out it prevents fleas too. I’m sipping Rosemary tea right now, made with a couple of sprigs, in a tea ball, for a minute, in boiling water.
Love these little gems of knowledge, I would also add that rosemary are used in almost every fish/meat dish in the island of Crete, in Greece.
Keep up the good work doc.
Also in Acciaroli in Italy, where the very pungent variety is thought to result in very high numbers of people in their 90s or 100s. Aldi has a pungent variety, Waitrose is much too mild.
How else is rosemary used? Is it ever used as a tea? TY
@@sagapoetic8990 Almost never, just because it goes so well with all fish (cod, sardines and all), just roast it with your animal fats.
@@johnbrown9439
Can you please tell in detail how they use it, tea? Or as sprig in dishes??
Have you by any chance experienced hair growth?
My favourite recipe (made by sweetheart) is his Roasted Rosemary Chicken with Veggies (sheet pan style). W🤩W! If I’m ever having a stressful day it is the cure all! I bet it’s because of the fresh rosemary 😉
Interesting, never knew most of that information, thank you! I have always maintained that for all our health problems, there is something out there in nature to help us 🥰
I have not been favorable to it's flavor in the past but my daughters put it in our herb gardens & I appreciate the aesthetic aspect & it's aromatic property. So I harvested it this fall to dry. I will start using it more in food this winter. Thank you.
So glad to have my little herb garden like my grandma.. love your information everytime!!! So important for us TY
I’m obsessed with your knowledge! Thank u so much for your videos. You’re priceless!
I dry it then pulverise it ( not the stems) into powder and use it in bread making….about a Tbs for each loaf. It makes a nice herby taste.
like the idea,,,,
It's the number 1 herb for headaches
what really gives me joy is being drawn to a particular herb and then finding your video to confirm that it is indeed beneficial to my epilepsy or any other health concerns and preventative measures.
In short, you rock!
Thank you Dr. Berg
It has healing properties too. I use rosemary oil on cuts & for pain relief it is an amazing herb!!
It's traditionally used in some Middle Eastern countries as a digestion aid.
Try black pepper, rosemary and cayenne flakes in your pepper mill. It works on nearly anything.
I started craving rosemary, the fragrance alone makes it worth growing. I make my own breakfast sausage sometimes & rosemary is one of the herbs and spices I put it. Also use it in chicken soup and other dishes.
Rosemary plants work great for keeping mosquitoes away here in Florida…and they are so fragrant for humans, win/win☺️
Thanks Dr. Berg! I began my journey of healthier eating about 4 years ago, to address blood sugar and lipids. Surprisingly my thyroid and kidney function improved, as well as my osteopenia. I also noticed that all of those 'brain farts' disappeared.
Thank you for being such a wealth of information!

I just brewed a cup of rosemary tea, it's very good! Just used it in cooking before hearing this video. Inhaling the vapor from the tea just makes me feel better.! Thanks again Dr Berg
wow! I knew rosemary was good for many things but I just learned it's good for insulin sensitivity. thank you for sharing this.
I heard also that rosomery increase the absorption of licopen a powerful antioxidant in tomatos. So it is warth to add it with some fat. Greetings!
Love the herbs / plant medicine info. Keep it up!
Mucho appreciation for how you break it down. Amazing

Love ya Dr. Thanks for all the teaching.
Thank you ❤️. I love rosemary and use it often enough but after seeing your video I have more ideas on what to do to use again
Was literally breaking my fast with a cup of bone broth simmered with fresh rosemary (and a touch of butter) when this popped up in my feed.
One of my favorite herbs, by far.
Butter n rosemary in my broth. Sounds great!
@@danidelyon7093 It really is!
And if I add a garlic clove...*chef's kiss* 😋!
Who knew?
Great video! Now I understand why it has been so popular all these years. Thank you
My son has suffered with migraine and epilepsy for years and I have a garden full of rosemary - thank you!
Hope it helps!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
Like the song says “Parsley, sage rosemary and thyme’
I am drinking water with rosemary tincture right now. I chopped good amount of rosemary (have a big bush in the front of the house) and put it in plain, clean vodka, had no source for pure alcohol. I let it infuse for 4 weeks and then strained it. Use about a teaspoon or two for a large glass of water, it tastes amazing.Yesterday, for my birthday I made a rack of lamb coated with finally minced rosemary, finally grated Parmesan, salt, bit of mustard and olive oil.
I'm a big fan of rosemary! I sprinkle it on my french fries and use it in certain recipes. I use the oil in my hair too. It's a nice smell.
Keto French fries? 🤣
Do you use a carrier oil for hair?
Thank you doc for this video and some others I've enjoyed!
I love the taste of Rosemary. Thank you~
Thanks so much for this!!
How have I not know about you until today?! Thank you Dr Berg so much for making complex topics easy to understand 👏🏻
Agreed!
You get an A+ on this video! But all your videos get an A+! Thanks, I put Rosemary oil on my scalp, I would be happy to have 1/4 of the hair I had in my prime! I had so much thick curly hair, people would ask is that a wig?
That's really good to know. Thank you I will use it more. I need this
Wow that's so awesome !!! I love rosemary . your list had a lot of things I need. I'll eat it more !!!
I have been experiencing severe hair loss from my thyroid acting up. I used coconut oil with rosemary oil and drunk aloe Vera juice. In two weeks my hair loss almost stopped.
Thank you wonderful UA-cam doctors: Dr. Berg and Dr. Axe.
yes, rosemary is not only great for hair growth but also combat dandruff and other scalp issues. You can even apply the aloe vera gel to your scalp, it will also help and will make you hair look more shiny and beautiful. I also have a video on my channel on the topic
Thanks for sharing your knowledge it have been help me a lot. Thank you 🙏
I love rosemary, even in my garden. It has a desert plant vibe and grows like crazy.
Wonderfull learned more thank you
Thank you Dr. Berg for Rosemary; the hidden champion for brain health. Yes indeed, a super antioxidant that most people have overlooked. Have used it in culinary, cosmetic, and medicinal recipes extensively.
More on herbs I enjoyed this
As always thanks Dr. Berg.
I love Rosemary. I dry it and use it in our food.
Amazing. Thx doc
Thank you Dr. Berg
I drink it in a tea. I discovered that it helps me focus and be mentally alert when studying for long hours.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Love rosemary. Haven’t had it in a long time. It’s going on my shopping list. 😋
Love this healthy foods playlist!
Happy to be of help!
Great information Dr.Berg. Rosemary is excellent..Thank you for sharing. Keep up the good works 🙏.
always simple but brilliant ... Thank-you again Doc !!!
My pleasure, anytime!
Hey Doc. The aromatic oil of Rosmarin is used as hair LICE repelant in the middle east and it is very effective
I make my own diy skin serum. I add cosmetic grade ascorbic acid, powdered hyaluronic acid, a touch of methylene blue, and a tiny amount of baking soda to raise the ph to tolerable levels. I found green tea extract on Amazon with only glycerine and tea, which I have started adding to the serum. I may try rosemary extract in the future. All these ingredients are water soluble, so they mix easily. I keep a pre-made two oz bottle of the solution in the fridge to delay oxidation. I just have to tweek the formula to avoid a sticky feeling on my skin.
I put this on before my sunscreen for maximum protection. Although, I do make short trips outside without sunscreen, knowing that a little uv is actually good for us. My middle aged skin looks fantastic by the way. I have no visible wrinkles or sunspots, and I have a healthy glow. I must be doing something right! 😊
Dr Berg, tenha um bom e lindo domingo! Have a great Sunday!🌹🙏

Glad to hear that. Thanks for watching the video.
The comments are so hilarious. I salute you @MrPeacemandLiberty. You made the video more interesting. It's been 10 months and I still watch it.
Thank you also Rosemary for the good you do to our entire body
Not to mention it's fantastic on breads, potatoes, sauces, reductions etc
Thank you !
Interesting! Unfortunately I seem to be allergic to it. Here, in Spain, they often use rosemary as skewers for making bbq kebab style meats, and it tastes heavenly ❤
Rosemary allergy? Have you had a test result to confirm this?
I had a family member die from a rosemary allergy :(
@@idoflawlesshair please do you know the details from autopsy?
I know she infused some water with fresh rosemary, don't know how much. After she drank it she collapsed and never regained consciousness.
@@idoflawlesshair oh that is not an allergy. I assume you do not know autopsy report and cause of death. If you know, please share it for investigation.

Thank you Dr. B. I'm making some rosemary tea right now.
WOW GOOD TO KNOW I HAVE A HUGE PLANT IN MY GARDEN MUST LOOK UP HOW TO USE SOME IN DIFFERENT WAYS WILL KEEP YOU POSTED
I love the smell . going to get a fresh plant so I can have it, will definately be trying in my scalp, my hair is thinning. Thank you so much
Great information, thank you!
Most welcome! Glad you found it useful!
It's almost Thanksgiving, the time of year I use rosemary the most. I love the flavor it adds to my roasted chicken and rosemary/sage corn bread dressing. Counting down the days ..... 😋 I also use rosemary oil with peppermint oil, tea tree oil, emu oil, moringa oil and coconut oil on my scalp for hair growth and on my body to alleviate pain. It stimulates hair growth but it works wonders for pain!
Do you combine all these oils together to use on your scalp or alternate them? How often would you apply it? Thanks!
@@suegz139 Yes, I combine them all together. However, to jump start the hair regrowth process, I used rosemary oil along with ORS fertilizing temple balm (peppermint oil works with this as well). Took about 5 days before I felt the hair starting to regrow. Later I switched to using the oils I mentioned above. Use them twice a day, morning and evening. It's important to not put these oils on scalp of healthy hair, but only on the scalp areas that are damaged. Gently rub/massage them on those areas for 30 seconds to a minute. Do not comb it through the hair and do not put too much to where it goes throughout the head and runs down your face or neck. Do not wash it out. Put it on after your daily shower/hair wash if that is when you wash your hair. Allow it to penetrate the scalp and open the pores.
I should mention that I do alternate the oils. Overtime the hair will get used to the routine so it's best to alternate. To maintain healthy hair, argan oil, aloe vera gel (from the leaf) with coconut oil or jojoba oil is very good with keeping the scalp refreshed and healthy.
@@ladiuneeq9789 Appreciate all these information!!
@@suegz139 You're welcome! If you decide to use any essential oils, please use a carrier oil with them. Essential oils are VERY STRONG and should not be used without being diluted first (some carrier oils are olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, MCT oil, argan oil, jojoba oil).
thank you needed this
Happy to help!
I love rosemary and use it almost daily in cooking ♥️ didn’t know about the hair Benefit so I’ll try it out and add it to my shampoo ☺️
@@orangeleaves4026 science and research shows data for all polarities…. There is a study for everything.. and there is no universal diet… thus i personally feel it’s best to tune into our own body and pay attention to how it responds to food as you add / remove certain ingredients 😊
Researchers! They said not to cook with olive oil since its carcinogenic at high heat so I stopped. Now it's ok to use. Being Italian, that's all we had. All i know is that I'll never own vegetable oil, canola oil, etc, ever again.
@@orangeleaves4026 independent scientists
wont say that.
Of course Rosemary oil should not be applied on skin or taken internally undiluted.
@@orangeleaves4026 I don’t believe it. Sounds like the usual conventional MD jealousy of all things God-created.

You're very welcome!
I add a pinch of rosemary to my ☕.
Thank you Dr. Berg sharing your knowledge.
Interesting!
Thank you very much! It has helped me with hair loss a LOT. 😊 I use rosemary tea on my scalp 2* a day.
Yes indeed, rosemary tea is great for hair growth. Some people apply essential oil directly to the scalp, however it could be a skin irritant, so the tea would be more gentle on your skin. Interestingly I have a video on this topic on my channel
Oh man, that would be so amazing if it could actually help with my chronic pain. Sounds like a miracle herb. Thanks for the info Doc.🤗
Mary, infused tea helps too, just put a sprig of fresh rosemary or a tea spoon of dry rosemary, add boiling water and let it sit for 5 to 10 min and enjoy. I usually add drops of rosemary lavender oil with epsom salt in a bath…I have not had chronic pain for over 2 years now.
Take antioxidantes and antiinflamatorios ( TUMERIC), the pain happen because the person have inflammations, and this happens because of the accumulation of heavy metals and the body.
