This is my most favourite plant, ever! It’s also fantastic for allergies…… made into a tea. When you dry it or cook it, the sting disappears. We use it as a winter vegetable, steamed with lemon juice, drizzle of olive oil, S & P. Also use it in stews and soups. We also infuse it… dry it, fill a jar with dried nettle, cover with olive oil, jar in cool dark cupboard, shake every other day, 6 weeks. Remove the nettle and use the oil on joints. Make a strong tea of it (overnight infusion) use as a hair rinse, great for restoring hair.this is a wonder herb. 🌞 Loving your content these days Dr Berg. Thank you.

I got juvenile rheumatoid arthritis when I was seven years old. Almost 60 years ago. We lived in a very small country town in those days, probably about 500 population. Everyone in the town soon new about my problem. People were knocking at my parents' house with some remedy or another. One was stinging nettles. I was put in a bathtub with warm water and all these stinging nettles floating around me. I could not say it helped. I was having "jungle juice " brought to me in old beer bottles. I swallowed raw eggs. I had copper bracelets on both my ankles and wrists. These are a few of what I could remember. We lived (in Australia) in those days a good 2 day drive from our state's capital city, Sydney. I spent 10 weeks in the children's hospital there. My condition deteriorated to a point where everyone expected me to die, so I was told years later. I know of 2 occasions in hospital I was slipping away. I just felt so relaxed, and the horrific pain all over my body had eased off. But, I was rudely awakened in a bathtub with ice cubes floating around me and an electric fan blowing on me. I just wanted to sleep. I did not know until years later I was told my temperature had spiked to a dangerous, possibly deadly level. A couple of years went by, and I am still skin and bone. I am in a wheelchair all bent up. My health is at a very low state. A couple of the local 7th Day Adventist people came to visit my mother and me. They told my mother about the goodness of vegetable and fruit juices and gave my mother a nutrition book, and loaned her a juice extractor. My mother was very fortunate that her father ( my grandgather, pop) had the local fruit and vegetable shop. I would consume a pint of carrot juice per day ( a 28lb bag per week). Mum would make a large glass of juice from whatever fruits were in season when she brought me home from school each day. All these juices were easy for me to drink. I could not eat much solid food, especially meat. After about 6 weeks, I was now gaining some weight for the first time in 3 years. There is a lot more to my story. It does get better and better ad time goes on. There is just too much to write here for now.
@@noramartinez6201 I had juicing suggested to me too in 2018. It really helped. Couldn’t handle food but at least got in some nutrients that way. Lost a ton of weight as well. It helped and since I have been eating normally for a while I have started getting sick again.
Doctor in Europe we are using this plant for probably 1000 years. It is very important plant. After ww2 war they give this plant in different forms to children to supplement their nutrition because food wasn’t available. You are doing excellent work with keeping people informed to stay healthy. Your videos are best blueprints to keep healthy. Thanks
I have a theory and it's just that a theory that all the weeds that grow in our own gardens have nutrients/ medicine we need. I think this more so now that I have read that the earth and ppl resonate with the same frequency.
Yes my grandma used it for arthritis. She beat her body part with it , and get red on the surface and have a stinging sensation. I am from Hungary and we use 400 different herbs for healing. Nettle has iron, I use it to rinse my hear after I wash it . I make a tea. Let it 20 minutes to soak in. And ready to rinse, your hair will be nice and shiny, and stop falling out. And so many other things is it good for. Thank you dr. Berg!

OMG, this is incredible. I rubbed a handful of Nettles leaves into my long suffering Left knee yesterday morning after watching this video. The knee was injured decades ago, I am 63, and is pretty good but gives occasional twinges of pain and much weaker than the right when doing exercises. The Nettles stung like mad for an hour, but not agony, then wore off the rest of the day and night. The next morning, 20 mins ago I noticed that the arthritic type pain was gone, so thought I would do some single leg step raises on my stairs. I can do them all day long on my right leg, but the left knee has limited movement and gets to feeling that it may even tear or pop if I go too low. I started of very carefully on the left, then realised there was no pain at all. Then I saw that I was getting the full range of movement, I rattled of 30 reps of full range knee raises with no ill effects at all. The Nettles not only took the slight inflation away, it feels like they have "cured" the entire joint !!!! I cannot thank you enough Dr. Berg for this amazing information, and cure !!!!

My mom is suffering these last few weeks How do you use it? Do you eat it? Do you take it and rub on the pain area? Edit: I watched the video and it was confusing. I think he is saying to rub it on the area with the intention of letting its thorns penetrating the skin of the area.
@tonytran07 I think there are many ways to use it, but rubbing it on the area is one, use gloves he said. I'm going to get some and try it. I'm desperate for relief in the lower back. I'm only 43 and I feel like crippled between the pain and stiffness.

Nettles are great plants! My grandpa used to treat his arthritis by walking through them regularly. The seeds are natural power food. So many benefits and ways to use them. Everyone should have them in their garden!
My grandma used to make soup out of this weed or like spinach substitute during spring time some 50 years ago. It was delicious! She often used it as anti- inflammatory treatment for her arthritis. She also used a lot of herbs and plants for different types of health problems. For example she used to make tea from blackberry leaves for Inflammation of the kidneys, I still remember and use some of her home remedies.
My Native American grandmother used stinging nettle for allergies. She rubbed castor oil on arthritic joints, now I'm in my 50s, and a dime size works.

In the early 1970's my parents encounter an old farmer / bee keeper in Prince Edward Island. His name was Mr. Mose and in his nineties, he was arthritis free and attributed to bee stings.
I worked with a lady from Columbia. She told me her grandmother had arthritis in her knees. She would catch some bees in a glass jar. Open the lid and placed the jar upside down on her knee. The bees would sting her and her arthritis was better. I also saw on TV a elderly woman was outside and got stung hundreds of times by disturbing a bee nest. It almost killed her, but her arthritis was gone.
So that's what my great grandmother used it for. When I was a kid she had a lot of that planted in her green house and used it for all kinds of things but I was young at the time. Unfortunately she passed away before I got older to understand any of that. She was half Cherokee.... family and friends referred to her as medicine woman because everything she used from the earth and not "chemical" from the drugstore. I started deworming myself, just like my grandparents did in their day. They took dewormer every 3-6 months and were able to take care of themselves until 92 when he fell off his tractor and broke his hip. Healthy as horses!!
I use the horse paste, called Panacur its Fenbendazole It kills even the fluke worms that get in your liver. And switch up to Ivermectin every other month, you'll go thru what I call the worms dying off, and you'll feel worse for a little while but don't stop using it, I use the size of a #2 pencil twice a day. But start off only taking it once a day when just beginning. No sugar, no carbs, worms make you crave sugar I was told. I put the dab of it as far back on my tongue as I can, wash it down with lemon water. Or like my daughter does she buy those clear pill shells to put the Fenbendazole in to take it, think she gets the smallest ones off Amazon. Put the paste in a syringe without the needle on it to put it in the pill shells.

Here's my story. Years ago I had a bad case of eczema on my legs and hands: the itch drove me crazy. I would scratch my self till I bled. Unable to find relief from the itch, I rubbed gasoline, paint thinner and other caustics to kill the itch. The greater pain actually brought some relief. Then one day I thought of stinging nettle! I figured the pain and the numbness would definitely bring some needed relief. I whipped myself with the plant in the affected areas. I swelled up a bit, and the initial pain countered the awful itch, and the numbness did bring relief. Here's the unbelievable part. I did this no more then 3 different times, perhaps over the course of a month, AND MY ECZEMA DISAPPEARED!! Never to return. What a beautiful relief. I'm not a Doc, and I'm not recommending just anyone try this, I'm just saying it worked for me. That was 40 years ago. If you try it and it works for you, be sure to give this post the credit. :) Thank you for sharing this information with us!
Stinging nettle is wonderful I tried it for the first time about a year ago when I had a bad gout attack. Brushed the leaves and stem on my joint and almost instantly the pain decreased and with in minutes was gone altogether. Funny thing is I have been stung countless times from it over the years living out in the country but when I rubbed it on my gout I felt zero stringing.
I walked into a large bush of stinging nettles in the UK while visiting. You don't have worry about arthritis pain if you do this. Feels a lot like standing on a fire ant nest. I think this is the best comparison.
@@HubertofLiege But it only hurts for a very short while but arthritis hurts all the time. What he's saying it that as the nettle pain subsides (quite quickly) the arthritis pain will be gone or at least reduced for a while.
I have to confirm that info about stinging nettle. When I lived back in Europe I used to have arthritis pain every winter and was very weather sensitive. Then I read some books about this plant, it stings with the same chemical as ants. We call it ants acid. So, we had a lot of this “weed” in our backyard. One day I took a bunch of stinging nettle (wear gloves) and whipped my knees with it. It was painful! Than for the whole day I felt like needles in my knees or like ants are crawling. I did that once! And I didn’t have that pain again for the whole winter. We also have a remedy for arthritis with ants acid - take a bottle of live ants and add some alcohol to it. When ants die they release that acid which is remedy for arthritis. I know it sounds cruel, forgive me for that, but that’s what I knew from old book. And yes, we made soup from stinging nettle, early spring when food is scarce and body needs that vitamin boost… and tea, it is well known for its medicinal properties.
Try 200 watt infrared light bulb and install it in a chicken brooder lamp that's compatible to 200 watt bulb. Shine that on your arthritic area for 15 to 30 minutes to help increase circulation in that area. It's heat gets to the deep tissues really well. And it's very economical.
@@oksanadzhavala1424 you can also Google and pull up an acupuncture maridian chart and shine the infrared light on those areas, especially along your spine, good for general health. Another thing I do, if you have access to dry powdered herbs like turmeric, ginger, comfrey, Vietnamese cinnamon, individually or combined together, is to soak them with olive oil with an oil to herb ratio of 2:1, into a glass quart jar. Close lid, shake well once or twice daily for about 2 weeks, and there you have a medicinal rubbing liniment oil to rub into the effected area. However, they will stain your clothes, which is the major down side. I don't bother remove the sediment powder as they will settle to the bottom of the jar anyways. If you are adventurous, you can also add some cayenne pepper powder to this mix so it will provide warming sensation to those achy areas. 🙂🙏

Hi Dr. Berg. People are posting positive things on your beard. I think it looks like you’ve been camping for a few weeks. Now you’re posting about woodland herbal remedies. The stinging nettle use for arthritis is very informative. I know lots of boomers who can use some relief from arthritic hands. Can’t wait to try it myself. Thank you.
A Friend of mine collected this and made a soup. It was delicious! Her method; wash, chop, boil briefly, drain, bring to 2nd boil with olive oil, salt and a lot of garlic. BTW, she'd collected a soup pot of the plant.
Only problem with boiling twice is you lose a lot of the nutritional value of the nettle. I have it growing in my garden and have been eating for years.
Years ago, I read an article about what was done several generations ago by farmers and ranchers, especially in other parts of the world. They dried and stacked stinging nettles as hay. It has higher protein and nutrients than other crops. It out performs other plants. And you are right about it doing the human body good. But it has medicinal qualities also, and you should be careful. This is true of every plant...everything in moderation, as they say. To give you an example: I have rarely used red clover (herb in capsule), because it lowers my blood pressure too much. But I did not worry when I sprouted red clover seeds. But I was wrong, just 2 Tablespoons of the mature sprouts sent my blood pressure down so low I could barely move, in fact had to sleep it off. Eat you herbs, I eat, dandelion, curly dock shepherds purse and wild lettuce often. But no red clover for me!
I have blood pressure high taking prescription drug for it but does not help well (more then 15 years)I'm 80 years now wonder if red clover will help me instead so I can stop medication.whats your opinion? Thank U.
Thank you for the insightful tutorial. : ) Nettle tea and added to soups is amazing, and a great spring tonic. One thing to keep in mind, stinging nettle is very rich in iron. Eating too much in one sitting can cause gastrointestinal distress, extreme constipation... and too much iron over a long period of time can cause a range of issues. Everything in moderation... : ) Thank you again Dr. Berg for your knowledgeable approach to nutrition/health and detailed video tutorials... : )
@James Holkko thanks so much for the reminder to go gently with the nettles! we are sometimes inclined to ''go overboard'' when we find a new excellent thing....
I make nettle tea (mix with mint half/half) and drink about half gallon every day in the summer. It helps keep my joints working better. You don't have to use it with the sting. Just let it sit in the sun for about 6-8hrs. The stinging stuff disappears. We eat it in salads, and add it to soups as well. I even add it to beer recipes. Believe it or not, if you get a bee sting or itch from mosquitos, rub the leaf on it, or pour the tea on it...it doesn't have to still sting - but it literally counteracts the pain or itch...miraculous!
I used nettle for eating, after handling with gloves, and boiling, but never heard of it been used as a topical agent. I have to give it a try for my arth-left-us. Thank you Dr. Berg! LIKE!

About 25 years ago, I had gout in my right foot, and it was persistent and quite painful, having had it over a period of about a year. One day, while out cutting grass with a line trimmer, I struck a bullant nest. Needless to say, they were airborn. One fell into the back of my right boot and bit me twice near the ankle bone. Yep, it hurt like the proverbials and two great, swollen welts came up over the next couple of hours. It was an intense, burning, stinging pain for a couple of weeks. Eventually the pain subsided and the welts faded over time. Despite the annoyance, I have never had gout since then. Some medicines are tough to swallow but can work wonders.

I felt the pain of arthritis and the itchy pain of the nettles mixed up. I did it for 3 days, once a day with nettles from our garden. I wanted to do it longer but we went on a trip. I thought to start again when we got home because 3 days is not much. Still, I felt better every day. I could hardly believe it. And now I've been pain free for so long. I can use a door handle again... opening bottles... lifting something heavy... Really happy because it makes such a difference in quality of life. I once had an abscess forming in a rear molar. It was over the weekend and I didn't want to spend an emergency visit to the hospital or going to an emergency dental clinic because it can be exorbitant.. I am Christian and I believe in the power of prayer but you do have to be careful what you pray for and be very specific just like the scripture says. I prayed to the Lord to please heal the abscess and I knew he would because he says in the scripture that he is faithful. The pain of the abscess developing was horrible so to distract myself I went outside and started doing some yard work. There was a wild tree that had grown up against my house and I started clipping away the branches not knowing that there was a small hornet's nest. Suddenly this immense buzzing was all over the place and I felt a horrible stinging sensation on the side of my face directly where the absence was forming.. It was a wasp that had stung me several times in my jaw. Well I was, needless to say, not happy about the hornets and I went to the mirror to look and yes I had swollen up a little but within just one hour the swelling had gone and so had the abscess and has never returned. I never needed to go to the dentist after that period the tooth is fine and it is never reoccurred.
You can also make a cold nettle tea to water other plants with. It’s very beneficial in strengthening your vegetable plants. I used to make about 50 gallons at a time.
Gather into pail, add water and leave in corner of garden for 2 weeks. Add some to watering can when watering plants. Make sure to harvest before sets seeds or you might have it growing throughout garden.

My body has craved stinging nettle since I was a child. In the last few years I’ve finally done it! First pills. Now I’m making tea. Pills are good but tea is amazing, I find I feel energized and invigorated from the inside. I’m doing both ways from now on. Mother Nature thought of everything! For the tea I just steep the fresh leaves in spring water for about 45 minutes. Store the extra in the fringe.

Couldn't agree more Eric. I cured severe hip pain of many months by stinging myself periodically for a few weeks. That was over 25 years ago. I also make the most delicious soup throughout spring and summer (only with new growth leaves) older leaves should not be consumed. Nettle is a super natural healer.😊
We Nepalese people make soup and eat with rice. Usually elderly people eat it often to maintain their high blood pressure. There are different types of stingy nettle, we usually get them from public park.

I've been using nettles for arthritis for the last 15 years stumbled on it accidentally and for hayfever it really works.people used to think I was nuts glad you put this up.
It's the best thing to try it's free and does work.just sting the area that's swollen and a nights sleep to make it work. I also keep bees and bee stings do calm your inflammation in your body.
I have this stuff all over my yard! I don’t use pesticides… hence the overgrowth. I have osteoarthritis and have been boiling this down for a tea for several years. It sure works for me. Word of caution: DO NOT PICK WITHOUT GLOVES! It’s hurts TERRIBLY when you grab a clump and these millions of little hairy needles get on your skin. That said - this stuff works and it’s natural…and free!
Awesome. Thanks for the data. I know an older lady who literally grab the nettles by hand…she showed me how to pick it correctly but she doesn’t pick it correctly and doesn’t mind at all…
I'm so glad you have said this as I use nettles in this way, by putting my arm into them and it hurts for seconds and then there is pain relief - very effective! I also make nettle soup, it's delicious. Thank you for this as I think people think I'm daft!!

Thank you to Dr. Berg This works great just as he says. I used it on my swollen and painful thumb joint and it stopped the pain right a way within minutes it also took the swelling away thru out that same day. The joint is still enlarged a bit more than the other hand but I put that down to irreversible damage that now has no pain. The sting is only felt for maybe 5 or 10 minutes . I hope it works well for all who use it . All this has happened in the last week since I seen this video on May 14th and as of May 20th still no pain or added swelling. I did find the nettle plant by the edge of the woods by my home and dug it up and ended up breaking it because of a rather deep tap root I would say just dig down at least 10 inches when trying to harvest and take home the plant to continue growing.

Yeah I had my cartilage taken away at the age of 21 total knee replacement 50 it's like being tortured to death definitely going to give that a try

BUSH??? It's a plant like 20cm tall. I have piles of it under the trees on my farm.
Very intriguing info! Thanks 🙏🏼
@@doradean3097 wow! Funny you said that! We had this lamp and used it! Remember my uncle used it for his ear when he was sick! Thanks!

@@experimenthealthyketo83 in Russia we used first few leaves in early spring for soup. They do not sting when young, easy to collect without gloves. The soup is simple, just add a bit of potato, carrot, and slice of hard boiled egg, also a spoon of sour cream when served.
When used as a food: Simply put it in the pan on top of fish (like spinach) when frying. It does not sting when heated. It is one of the most nutrias greens and full of proteins too. It likes to grow outside where the ground has nutrients, like on or near the compost.
Hi Dr. Berg. People are posting positive things on your beard. I think it looks like you’ve been camping for a few weeks. Now you’re posting about woodland herbal remedies. @The Richest Man In Babylon So agree with this 🙏
@The Richest Man In Babylon do we need no quit pure jaggery too?
A Friend of mine collected this and made a soup. It was delicious! Her method; wash, chop, boil briefly, drain, bring to 2nd boil with olive oil, salt and a lot of garlic. BTW, she'd collected a soup pot of the plant.
Thankyou for this method of making nettle soup.

I am bulgarian and we use this herb/weed in our dishes for centuries. We always boil it first!

This is a nutritional superfood that is absolutely delicious sauteed in butter. I use the young leaves in the spring for sauteing.
I also dry the leaves and crumble for steeping in water for a nutritious broth. It will build you up, especially after you've been ill. Just put the dried herbs in a mesh bag and steep or let them boil loose in water and strain them out with a fine mesh strainer.

This works great just as he says.
