I'm glad somebody in the media didn't go along with Trump's BS in an interview.
NPR is generally the most solid information source in the US I find. It's information rather than entertainment.
maybe if he would ve been pressured like this from the very start (5 years ago) we wouldnt be where we are right now. I always felt he was given an easy time because of his age and/or position

They knew that if they pushed back, he would skip out and they'd lose their access to him. They did everyone a disservice in exchange for ratings. Trump's nonsense should have been smothered out like a fire. Everyone should have harshly shut him down, condemning every word out of his mouth in the process, giving him no platforms to spread his filth.

He was never really taken seriously, because everyone knew him to be joke casting by through his daddy's money the way trust fund babies always do. Except we've reached a point in time where people you can't take seriously somehow reach high offices with the power to screw up your life. He's basically the answer to the question, "Oh, let him be, let's indulge him this once, what's it gonna hurt?"
Steve Inskeep just got a huge bump in popularity. Good for him- waited six years for an interview with that horses’s ass (no pudding pun intended).

I love how Fox has to correct him immediately when he says "i'll be here every monday or maybe tuesday if that doesn't work" but they don't correct him on ANYTHING else ever....

Love Seth's NPR content (the volume issue, that they do "their little show" downstairs of the retired gentleman's house and the Ira bit) and that Steve Inskeep shut the twice impeached loser down on that interview. So many great things about this Closer Look.
I love the fact that the guy from NPR debunked everything trump said about the election, but Trump went on to say anyway that this can never happen again. What Donald, what can never happen again, cause if we're talking about your presidency, we all agree on that. That can never happen again.
Would that it were so. If the GOP doesn't pull the trigger in their ongoing coup (replacing state election officials with 45 zealots, voter suppression, extreme gerrymandering, etc) this year (and they may well do so), they are definitely going to do so for 45 in 2024. If it looks like he's winning, it'll be fine, but as soon as he looks to lose, they'll declare fraud based on nothing and appoint their own people. Not really anything to stop them.

I don't think even the Republicans believe what Trump says, but they do believe that if they keep saying that they believe it, everyone else has an obligation to treat them and what they say with respect, even though it's a lie and they have bad intentions. They're trying to use people's impulses to treat all viewpoints with respect to push their way, and they think that getting their way justifies that behavior.

I listen to NPR regularly, and hearing this on Morning Edition FLOORED me, it was a riot listening to Trump tangle with Innskeep, one of my favorite reporters on NPR. Even better when Steve then informed us they only got nine minutes out of a scheduled 15 minute interview, lmao.

Minimal research shows how many of their woke talking points are wrong and not supported by facts and data. When I first started listening to NPR, I had someone tell me he can't stand listening to it because every time he turns on the radio, NPR is "only playing from the left." (It was a stereo joke.) That caught me QUITE by surprise, because they seemed so staunchly fair and unemotional about the news. The commentary might have some opinion, but even that is reserved, and reflects more the natural societal lean toward progressivism than any sort of liberal political alignment. Heck, at least my local station (and I assume probably many or most or all of them) play news clips not only from domestic sources, but the BBC as well. How do you get any more unbiased than having news reports from those who don't actually have a dog in this fight at all?
After years of hearing news, commentary, and even represented debate (e.g. Left, Right, and Center), the cable news channels are embarrassingly _not_ neutral, and tend to outright tell their viewers how to feel more often than just telling the story and letting people digest it however they will.
I really wish more people would listen to NPR.

I totally agree with you. The objective news ended on the day when network execs decided to turn the facts of the news into "entertainment FAUX news". Now, the vast majority of networks only care about their ratings and their profits.

I don't think anyone would have ever expected Trump to be on NPR. You could have bet me all my income for eternity, forcing me to live on the streets, and I would have still accepted that bet.
They were surprised by Trump's comment about being there every Monday like they talked about because it's probably a campaign contribution violation arranging basically a weekly campaign ad.
Or the fact that he was the president of the United States and should have way more important things to do. I mean with his constant golfing and then his proposal to be on Fox News every Monday or Tuesday. That would kind of debunk his old talking point that President Obama was the laziest president ever

On NPRs up first this morning, they said the interview was supposed to last for 15 min and trump hung up after 7. Also it was so wonderful to see what Steve looks like since I hear his voice almost everyday on up first😭

He kept trying to pivot away from the questions, but she was tenacious. After cutting the interview short, he started dropping F-bombs on her in private. You can still listen to the interview on NPR's site - things start to get fun at around 5:15.
