I've only just found the video.... well researched. I was lucky that I was always able to make new engines in the companies at the right time and was always able to lead a very good team.
You deserve an Oscar Nomination for music choice on this video. That NFS Porsche background music gave me goosebumps. Very interesting facts and very nicely presented!
I’m impressed you always gather your research from different sources and put reference photos for us to review and compare. Big fan. Keep up the great work.
Was so happy to see you’ve put out another video on the M156 and whom design it . Your videos are always great to watch very informative, interesting and entertaining for myself to watch great job putting this one together, Hats of to you my friend, you definitely got my thumbs up for this one and all the other cool videos especially m156 .Great work
I would've never thought about that connection to start with! you always surprise with the quality of your content AND visuals! Getting my hands on a canadian CLK63 convertible tomorrow. hopefully the experience doesn't ruine my love for AMGs with time as I had great experience with older engines.
btw head bolts have been replaced, no wear on tappets, camshafts are in good shape, cam adjuster plates had the teardrop wear but have been welded, and timing was redone but car still has timing codes and is acting like a dog! Gotta figure the culprit..
Totally over exaggerated issue by the internet. Watch this guy and you’ll see ua-cam.com/video/zJO1qNnhxw4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/svf0R_00M5s/v-deo.html
@@ELWIN225 I watched him. I am not sure what I or anyone else is supposed to learn from someone who professes he is not even a "DIYer myself". What did I miss?
@@wtharris2343 if you watched his channel you’d understand he was just being humble. The guy opened up his AMG engine and changed the head bolts. He has done it to others too on the E chassis and all the bolts came with minor surface rust. My point is that m156 is safe to buy. Failure rate was very low and mostly on C63. M156s on the road today have either been head bolt swapped already or have high mileage on original bolts and running strong.
Another little known fact. Why did Porsche build a V10 and not a flat 10? Ramler could proof that the centre of gravity was lower on the V10 . Yes you read right.
VW has always been ruining the Porsche development and what we see today is a compromised Porsche with Turbos, electric steerings, larger dimensions and artificial exhaust sounds, none of which is liked by enthusiasts or purists. Porsche family should go back to the drawing table and learn from 997.2 and 987.2 gen models

I love you, sir , my nickname is AMG , and my favourite number is 63.

I am a big fan of both engines. M156 in w219 CLS63 AMG is still the best engine I have owned so far among many cars. Great another informative video!
As a fellow 219 amg owner, I can attest to this
M113k ftw
Same! Just picked up a 2007 cls63 AMG with 61,500 miles.
That’s very interesting background, I never thought about those two engine was linked

I love it that you showed "Alte Schule" podcast ! great to see your love for AMG History !!!!!
What a guy designing 2 of my fav engines ever. I was only 9 when the Carrera GT came out and I remember loving it from day 1. Unrivalled sound

Truly rare knowledge. Few People know about these similarities.
Always a pleasure and learning experience thanks for posting!!?
Love that second soundtrack. Heard it for the first time on NFS Poreche Unleashed

Another similarity is the M80 and the M159 have velocity stacks.
1:19 I got all excited when I saw this picture. Thats my car!! Well not exactly odviously... I have C230K W202.
very cool. I had no idea.
Coool!!! I dindnt know that. Proud owner of an 2011 E63 AMG M156 engine with 40k KM :))) Will be our 4 ever
"but no engine is perfect"
1uz-fe and 1lr-gue: hold my beer
Hey bro love your videos! What kind of camera do you use?
Amazing engine
Mercedes Benz: Real Madrid!
Porsche: Atletico Madrid!
isnt the 156 also plagued by the infamous head bolt issue?

Should of compared Engine mass in kg and see whats lighter or heaver.
Also exhaust manifolds.
Carrera GT looks tuned length.
Very interesting. Could any of you learned people confirm that Porsche made a number of v-8 engines for Mercedes?
I get the urge to play nfs porsche unleashed after watching this video..
Best NFS ever, in my opinion.
@@unclebenz563 Agreed !!!
The V10 has a much smaller stroke than the Merc V8 ... it could not be more different.

thanks :)
Headbolts issue with M156 engine is the worst, every M156 owner is aware of this problem. Your video failed to mention it.
this was a comparison of the two engines, he has a separate video on common problems
I really wish the m156 made it to the x class Mercedes’
what is the song starting from 3:23?
Cypher - Aircon. Was in Need for Speed Porsche 2000
