Keeping oil level close to the max is the key on m156 to ensure timely oiling. For those looking for a detailed m156 head bolt DIY, I have one on my channel.

That’s true. I also drive my car in M mode or limit the gears so that the RPMs are always about 2500 to ensure enough oil pressure to push it to the top if the engine.

Just curious ..nowadays how much does 156 head bolts replacements will cost @ an Indy shop ? How much do you charge ?
I’m actually thinking about doing it myself but I have no tools. 🤣

@@enzoi9569 if you do it yourself (again, I have a DIY video on my channel) it costs about $350. If you pay someone it’s 10 hour job. So ask them how much they charge per hour.

First time I've seen the plates fixed that way and I must say I love it! I hate how Mercedes and other companies charge extremely over exuberant prices for these plates that I'm sure are made pennies on the dollars. Thanks so much for showing an easy way to fix this issue.

Dude your videos are awesome! Help me so much with my c63 head bolt job. Question I have in case you see this, did you put RTV on the new head bolts? Any specific type needed for that? Also, with the cam adjusters, how do you get them back into their correct position if after you take them out, they are slightly misaligned? This happened on my c63 because the hole in the gears isn’t threaded so all I was able to do is stick a 5mm bolt in there to hold them in place however upon removal, they are about 1/8” misaligned. My buddy working on the car with me says they can be payed back into place with a flat head. Just curious if you have any tips or tricks on how to do that without risking damage of the cam adjuster. Thanks!

I am genuinely curious about how the underside if the head bolts corrode, what are they coming into contact with that can make them corrode? Also hopefully the person making the replacement plates for the cam adjuster is making them out of a more durable metal, if so they should be the go to replacement anytime someone works in the cams.

  • @greydog1104

Those bolts look fine. Just some light surface rust. At that rate of corrosion it looks like it would do the same mileage again without causing a problem. But since the covers were coming off anyway it makes sense to do it now.
