My M113k has the best reliability of any car engine I have ever owned, and I have owned quite a few of them over the years. Everything from big American V8s to European engines that run the gamut from the Mercedes V8 I have now through Porsche 6s, turbocharged Saab 4s, and everything in between. Out of them all, my Mercedes M113k is undoubtedly the best, and I have been waiting for a very long time to own and enjoy this superb engine. From where I sit, in the driver's seat, this engine is especially great after it has been supercharged by the wizards at AMG. I have never found a performance engine that puts out the horsepower and torque this M113k engine does with the reliability that makes it entirely trustworthy. With an M113k sitting in my favourite body style, the CL 55 AMG, makes a winning combination for me that I have been searching for since the year 2000 when I first saw the Formula 1 safety car. Locating a low mileage example with a complete service history has taken me nearly a quarter of a century but was ultimately worth all of my efforts. My car is fabulous with all of the power and beauty I could ever require from an automobile. I hope anyone reading this is as fortunate as I have been and can attain their own automotive dreams. Safe driving to you all!
I have an n54 335i fbo, a f15 x5 with the twin turbo V8, stock, and just bought a 04 s55amg to daily. Every car I have has over 400hp ( 400 motor hp... Each might have over 400 wheel also 🤷🏿♂️) the Benz is pretty much the slowest of the 3. But it's such a great engine, it has turned me from a BMW guy to a Benz guy. The craziest part about the s55amg is it handles about as good as my 335i. My 335i has coilovers, aftermarket control arms, aftermarket sway bars, M3 pieces also. The ABC suspension along with m113k made me a believer. BMW doesn't even look good to me anymore. Glad I lucked up on finding this gem!
The m113 is the LS of the euro world, it's bin around since 97 and they swap them into BMW's to make drift cars in Russia. It's very tuner friendly, with a lot of Supercharger kits even made for LS/Coyote motors. There's manual kits for 350z trans, and LS aftermarket fuel rails. Here's a e55 with stock blower/cooling mods/ e550 throttle body/ headers, and nitrous. m.ua-cam.com/video/zqrc2aaUZII/v-deo.html 16:30
I believed to be one of the lucky people to buy a 2005 S55 AMG in black color. I bought this car almost 5 months back and it clocked only 46500 total miles. After purchase I changed engine oil, all belts, transmission oil + filter, ABC oil. It is always a MONSTER. Everybody makes way for me whenever I am on the road. When I hit the throttle it always put a smile on my face. Also, a great pride when people stare at your car :-) I love this M113K. When finalized to buy an AMG I was only looking for this engine. Almost after hunting one and half months I got this gem. Only go for this M113K engines brothers..!!
Isn't the M113K engine (especially the one in the W211 chassis) known for being quite reliable as well? Like, there were some examples beyond 200k miles. There was even a W211 E55 noted to do around 400k miles. Like, I've heard that the M113K is paired to the famously bulletproof 722.9 transmission.
@@rahulmandala4930 Yep I have one, they're very reliable! Just a few more cooling components and that big supercharger. Not much else to go wrong over the NA version. And yep you mean the 722.6 bulletproof 5 speed. The 722.9 is not as bulletproof but still a good box.
@@calx116 oh they both are awesome. All AMGs are my favorite vehicles. M156 feels racecar raw though. the transmission its paired with also makes downshifts way more badass than the 722.6 5speed found in the m113(k) cars. at certain rpms you can consistently get it to backfire on the stock exhaust setup which is very very cool.
I have a W204 C63 AMG performance from 2013. Had the car since 2016. Only a single owner before me. I have had one issue (light bulb change). Other than that service every year at Mercedes in my home town. Not a single beat was missed in my 6 years of ownership. I only drive small trips all the time. When the engine oil is 100 degrees celcius, I give it FULL beans every time I drive. Oil change every 2000 km.
@@bdmxh He stated that he drives it enthusiastically, yet he's responsible enough to change the oil that early which is the best thing you can do to avoid cam wear and anything else that could go wrong. Not to mention, doing 2k oil changes does allow you the opportunity to test your oil more often to check for inconsistencies(High amounts of certain metals can point to bearing failure, cam failure, and really can pick up on anything).
As wonderful as the M156 sounds, the M113K indeed is the best one in the real world. It's impossible to ignore the torque-based effortless performance it delivers, and which fits a Merc. And, nevertheless, it also produces quite nice sounds as well.
I am awaiting delivery of a 2003 SL 55 in about a week, and I am so happy I chose to own such a fine engine too. I have been reading a lot about the M113K before my purchase and your video is another excellent source, thank you!
I have an old E55 Estate (or wagon) (W210 / S210 chassis) it has an NA M113, what's noteworthy about this is it has 240k miles on it. Neither the engine or the transmission have had to be rebuilt yet. I've had the car 12 years and it was cheap, very cheap. Been an amazing bargain. It's still quicker than 99% of the cars on the road and can haul some serious payload
The best video I have ever seen on these two engines.I am really considering getting an E55 after my graduation and your videos about these cars are phenomenal!Keep it up🙌
17yr Mercedes-Benz master technician here, the M156 is by far the biggest POS engine MB has ever put out. yeah it makes great power n/a, but from a reliabity stand point, just terrible, broken cams, camshaft adjuster sprocket pins shearing off, broken head bolts, magnesium intake rotting away over time, fuel injectors staying open, oil in the engine harness, and the list goes on... made a lot of money on them when they were under warranty. M113K is a beast and probably the best engine to come out out Germany other than the M104.
I have 3 m156 engines and only done oil changes, changed two radiators and done my valve cover gaskets on one. Obviously the m156 that come to you are engines that has not being taken care of. Of course in "17" years you're going to work on a lot of them, they made over 60,000+ models of m156 engines, so what you're saying is common sense. What about the other 59,900 of m156 you haven't worked on, they're many of m156 owners that have never had any of the issues you claimed to work on, including me. That doesn't mean it's a POS, just the fact you called it a POS and claim to be a Mercedes master tech is suspect.
@@talkditingsdem5799 you are correct that when they come to the dealer, they come for svc work and need some help. It's my opinion that out of all the MB engines that come and go, the M156 has had the most issues. Maybe POS was a bit extreme, but you catch my drift. when the M156 launched in the 209 chassis back in 2007 we were replacing engines from the fuel injectors getting stuck open and locking the engine. wasn't an issue in the 112 or 113, or the 272 or 273. then the hollow cams started snapping. we didn't find out about the headbolts snapping till 2009 when the sl63 hit the dealers. they used an inverted (female) torx head and they were just snapping off, MB finally went to standard torx. again these are my observations after working in the dealership.
@@malloymotorsports780 Okay we're comparing an engine (m113) that is a Mercedes manufacturer engine that were in previous models before Mercedes and AMG decided to slap a supercharger on it and put it in the first m113k models. We're comparing it to the first fully built AMG engine, built from the ground up, with technology that current engines still isn't using. The m156 was pretty much built with the same technology in AMG racing cars, so of course it's not going to be perfect from the start. I don't get the comparison at all, one is a basic duel overhead with a supercharger on it and the other is high revving n/a V8 with racing technology. Yes the m113k is more reliable but the m156 is more sought after for a reason, to have a 6.2 liter high revving n/a V8 screaming at almost 8000 rpm's trump's the reliability difference between the two.
@@talkditingsdem5799 were looking through 2 different lenses. Your retail and a consumer and I'm the fixer. I spent 2 weeks at the AMG plant back in 2015 for " advance AMG training" so I get it. There is no doubt out it that the M156 is a power house. at the time is was the highest hp n/a engine available. First engine designed by AMG in house. I'm simple stating it has had a shit ton of issues. that's all.
We have an 08 s63 amg we the 6.3 and she's now got 106k and going strong put a trans in at 102 but other than that she's still rocking. I enjoy it! Great video I love all the info!
As an e55 owner the biggest thing that bothers me about the 13k is the operation noise. My car is very healthy and well maintained but it’s just very clicky and whirry at idle. I’ve gotten better now that I’ve owned the car for a while, but I used to always freak out that something was wrong, especially the loud oil pump on startup. Very impressive how quiet the m156 is at idle.
That is normal 😂 especially in winters. I recently got cls55 but my daily is w204 and in -16-20 it’s very interesting noises on every car 😂 Normal car dude 👍
Maybe the noise from the other pump, try to take off the belt then listen the noise. Alternate, Power steering pump, other puleys, even the power steering pipe touched the subframe can make the noise. The S55 AMG is a quiet and comfortable car.
M113 in the C55 all the way. Apart from the typical valve cover and RMS leaks, it has been bullet proof. very smooth, and loves to rev - especially on 100 octane fuel. Can't beat the sound of the M156, but the reliability issues are just a bit too tough on the wallet
I've owned a 2006 CLS55, and a 2009 CLS63, after installing long tube headers and upgrading intake and throttle body, I haven't looked back, the sound alone sells me on the 63. I loved the powerband of the m113k, but the sound and torque of the m156 is unrivaled. Absolutely my all time favorite AMG motor
When you get used to M113K's torque and then try any M156 (in my case 2010 E63) they just feel soooo underpowered compare to M113K in my E55. Yes its shifts way better with 7G, yes the sounds is stupid good, and yes the car overall is better but when you really push tuned E55 its ridiculous how powerful that car can be.I love M156 but for adrenalin rush E55 is just better...
When the supercharged E55 and SL55 came out in 2002 the 2002 S600 V12 twin turbo was alot quicker and it was a non AMG car the E55 and SL55 where slow compared to it 😬😬😬
@@YUSKHAN it was not a lot quicker , actually it was not quicker at all..I actually drove 05 S600 plenty of times , its a very calm stress free engine and it goes very well but not like M113K , and i’m talking a out stock M113K in E55, not to mention pne with just a level up smaller pulley, it would play circles around it.
I cannot compare the two engines, but can relate my own experience with the M113k in my 2007 SL55. It has the larger 82mm throttle body as stock and I added a smaller supercharger pulley at first, but in the Texas Summer heat it did have some issues after full throttle acceleration. I did purchase the Bosch 010 intercooler pump and an aftermarket 125% larger intercooler that my mechanic was able to install over the original intercooler (now have two intercoolers) and that has made a world of difference on full throttle acceleration. I do like the exhaust sound of the M156 and heard the C63 mufflers could help, but that is another project. Love all your postings and keep them coming.
Great video. I purchased a brand new C63 AMG back in August of 09. Prior to that I had a new C6 Z06. I found the AMG engine to be very refined in every way. Both cars were fast but the AMG V8 sounded so good and it was so smooth. I did long tube headers on the C63 AMG, air filters and a tune and it was a beast, I couldn't believe the torque and top end. On the other hand , I am very familiar with the E55 AMG, I have 3 friends with ones, they are also quick but the transmission is a total missmatch to the car, the gearing is too long and the shifting is slow.
Excellent video and it’s always nice to see your cars, they’re amazingly clean. The only disappointment was you didn’t show what that SL55 did the 1/4 mile in.
I *just* bought a C32 AMG wagon with the supercharged V6. It's a hell of a treat to go back to supercharged engines after a bunch of M113k cars before moving to Germany. The charger whine and performance mods pulled me back yet again.
Being an cls55 owner with a smaller pulley 77mm apart from struggling with belt slip mid power (needs a belt wrap kit) the tune and pulley made it so aggressive from the off but it’s also done over 300 mile round trips on less then a tank Some pounds spent on getting bits upto my standard but 16 years old power and style isn’t out of place today in fact they look better then most modern saloons
That black SL63 was spectacular on video. That's the thing- the M156 was installed in better overall cars like the 2009+ W211 and 2009+ R230. They didn't overlap production.
M113K is literally built like a tank, It is so easy to extract more power from it and I just think it's hella underrated. Yes the M156 creates more thunder and is the more fun engine to thrash around in, but M113K is the one to own.
I have an E55, the M113K torque is amazing. Having said that I really want a M156 car as well even though the w211 E63 I drove felt slower it had a totally different feel.

Have good memories with the CLS55, when I was a kid in 2005 my uncle had one in black I used to think it sounded cool and was quick but didn’t realise how quick. Then one day I remember we were driving on the motorway, and a Ferrari 360 M pulled up and dropped a gear my uncle floored it and this pretty red Ferrari was going backwards. That was the day I fell in love with AMG’s - sadly they’re going downhill a bit but least now at 26 I’ve got my own 2008 CLS63 1st Gen (thank you depreciation)
100% agree on this video. Owning an m156 at the moment and it's had many issues that were listed, all being fixed by warranty. Had the car fixed for many many months but when it works oh boy does it being a smile to your face.
I regularly drive a ‘55 300 Sc, a ‘71 280 se 3.5 (the civilized brother of the red pig) that my father left me and my ‘13 C63, i find each one delightful in their own way. They always were and still are the absolute best. As to best sounding? There is nothing like the throaty roar of a properly cured inline 6 with mechanical injection. The same one that powers the legendary Gullwing.
I bought my E55 a a few months ago and I'm absolutely in love with it. The only other Mercedes I've owned/own is a 2.3 16V 190E so this is my first AMG. I can't think of another car that gives you this level of comfort and power for the price. I'm throwing a Whipple, bigger injectors, and E85 at it this winter.
I had a 2005 E55 in 2008. Then I got a 2016 E63 in 2016. Now I have a mint CLS 55, and a Dodge Viper. Both are brutal cars, yet they couldn't be more different. The CLS 55 is 100% my absolute favorite AMG, and has been by far the most reliable Mercedes I've ever owned. Over 110,000km driven by me (total of 170k on the car) and I've had to do an alternator and 2x front struts/airbags.
For me the M113K is the better engine, because 1. I swore never to buy a car with NA engine again after having been disappointed with multiple other V8 cars, 2. I like to modify my cars and the parts and upgrades for M113K cars are actually pretty cheap in the US (AMG spare parts are actually also much cheaper in the US than for example in Germany!), 3. seemed like a much more reliable choice and I am not worried at all about running cost and maintenance. E55 AMG all the way!
W211 for the WIN!! I loved mine (not an AMG, but my first Benz) Lost it in a hit & run by a jerk in a Prius... Still suffering from that loss!! I WILL have another W211!
This has always been a m113k channel. 90% of his subscribers are m113k owners and never been in a m156 engine car, so of course most people on this video including the channel owner will say the m113k is better. The m156 is n/a engine with 500+ horsepower which was unheard of when it came out. We're comparing the torque of a n/a engine vs a force induction engine but at the same time the m156 is quicker to 60, even though the m113k might feel quicker off the line. Then we have the huge transmission difference, that 5 speed is beyond sluggish, especially compared to the quicker speed shift 7 speed. Then the m113k is so weather driven, it's performance is based on the weather, whereas the m156 n/a engine performs pretty much the same during any condition. Let's not talk about heat soaking, and engine smoothness, the m113k is so rough, raw and performs inconsistent compared to the m156. The only advantage the m113k truly have over the m156 is the modding potential and yes it's more reliable because the engine is way less technical and is basic.
On my renntech CLS55 AMG (538hp) I had 24mpg on highway, drove it like on race trap every day to work up to 220k mile and sold it without any major issues. Bimmer would have changed its transmission 10 times already. Actually looking to buy one again. I actually love the long gears on this transmission. As soon as it shifts into the second it pulls like a rocket.
I think, in daily driving, where you don't hit the 6000+ rpms every time, the M113K also does a better job, since it delivers more torque on lower rpms, thus making it more "efficient" and less prone to said mechanical wear like the M156 which is the high revving N/A V8.
I have the m 113 without k , and want to upgrade to k or m156 and I am very confused about what to buy , specially I have limited finance , but with my m113 in my ml , I am very happy with it, no major problems, even no problems at all, specially with 395 k km on it, it’s solid even unbearable engine, just oil and gase, recommend it , but no experience with the m156 , I hope soon will get it. Blesses.
E55 for me soon here in the UK, Sold my C63 that I had for 12months after a few issues started to appear, Oil leaks, startup rattle and few other things, great car but had me worried. Both amazing though.
The M113k is a much clearer winner than the video suggests. More power, better economy, easier upgrades for even more power. The 'reliability' issues mentioned for the M113k are insignificant, yet the M156 issues are catastrophic!
I had the E63 M156 engine and my valve broke. I had to take the head off, I also replaced the bolts. It cost me $8k on a $16k car. It also has other problems from what I’ve read at the time. I’ve bought 7 Mercedes in my lifetime. Now my last 3 cars were a Toyota. Let me tell you, I had 0 troubles.
Owned a cls 55 amg with the M113k. That thing was an utter beast and the torque ridiculous. Easily modified and endlessly reliable. If you can look past the idle and start up noise imo the M113k is the better of the two. Also.... It has a massive supercharger!!! Sorry, the kid in me. Oil leaks around the valve covers is common but that's easy to fix with a clean and sealant. The M156 has the head bolt corrosion issue which put me off as a catastrophic failure potential.
As an owner of a 2014 C63 coupe. Love it will never get rid of it. But wouldn't mind adding a car with an M113K in it though. Those motors are beasts just like the M156.
I own a CLK63, the M156 is epic in every way. It's like a screaming 4 pot in the way it revs and the mad powerband. For me not only AMGs best engine but one of the best naturally aspirated engines of all time.

Have had my w204 for 3 years now. Just recently got a CL600 with cat delete and tune, and the torque difference is insane. While it doesn’t feel like a rocket ship like the M275, I think the c63 may still be quicker
I've never owned or driven an m156 but I do have an m113k in an sl55, and what an amazing engine. Power and performance-wise that car was ahead of it's time. It took American muscle a good 12-15 years to match the performance, and that was mostly due to the advancement in automatic transmission technology. I know the car is quicker than my GT350 in the quarter (not in a roll though 😁) and still quicker than most manual n/a cars from the big 3.

M156 takes the cake for me. Its just so unique and legendary theres just no other choice
In the case of legendary I would advise m62 v10 from bmw then.

Always bro... S55 is a gem

I bought mine 3yrs. Ago with 97k miles
Paid $3k with blown ABC.
What did your prestine example fetch ?
@@lop8828 I live in New Zealand and I paid NZD 30,000
I love the M113 from my CLK55. It doesn’t have the power of the M113K, or the DOHC design of the M156, but it has reliability even beyond both.
Same, I have 2x 113 and a 113k, the NA 113 is a great motor, and very fun!
Most definitely a great engine
I have a M113 swapped into my manual W202. I don't even feel like I need the M113K.
The M113k is just phenomenal. I have it in my 2010 G55 AMG, on and off road it sounds amazing and performs beautifully.
Did you have to do anything different to make it work with that model since it was a different motor?
I always wondered if they still made the M113k for the G wagon for yes I saw the side exhaust but didn't know they did continue after 2008
My MB mechanic, after telling him I'm thinking of getting an AMG, excitedly recommended the reliability of the M112, M113 and M113K engines, full🛑.
m156 is about 20 percent cooler
@@w204mikull i'd say i like both of them cuz why not?
My C32 with 140k miles runs like a top, even with an oil change needing to be done asap 🫣
Still clocking 5.2 to 60 even with ESP on
@@calx116 oh they both are awesome.
@@w204mikull escept for the new v8
I have a W204 C63 AMG performance from 2013. Had the car since 2016. Only a single owner before me. I have had one issue (light bulb change). Other than that service every year at Mercedes in my home town. Not a single beat was missed in my 6 years of ownership. I only drive small trips all the time. When the engine oil is 100 degrees celcius, I give it FULL beans every time I drive. Oil change every 2000 km.
Every 2000kms sounds quite early? I would think 5-7k kms would be good?
@@bdmxh He stated that he drives it enthusiastically, yet he's responsible enough to change the oil that early which is the best thing you can do to avoid cam wear and anything else that could go wrong. Not to mention, doing 2k oil changes does allow you the opportunity to test your oil more often to check for inconsistencies(High amounts of certain metals can point to bearing failure, cam failure, and really can pick up on anything).
M113K all day long for me. Easy to work on, very reliable engine.
Absolutely love my N/A M113 5.4. May not be supercharged but she sounds so good, makes some brutal power too. And such a beast of a car.
Agreed i just grab a c55 engine to swap into my sl500
"This is the kind of automotive content UA-cam needs. No bs, just information" To the point with few words.!! I can only agree with this statement
Great video as always! I love these older Mercedes models. They really have something special not present anymore in modern AMGs
Exactly I own a 05 E55 AMG and that fact that it keeps up with modern cars of now is amazing I will never sell it 😊
The best video I have ever seen on these two engines.I am really considering getting an E55 after my graduation and your videos about these cars are phenomenal!Keep it up🙌
Clearly the m113k. Supercharged reliable v8
100% true. Finally someone knowledgeble is here.
I'm simple stating it has had a shit ton of issues. that's all.
Very good job on comparison 👏 and I'm glad you mentioned Tasos in your video. He is really knowledgeable in AMG community
@@sikais17 hows the cls55. i want to get one myself. how many miles does it have
Maybe the noise from the other pump, try to take off the belt then listen the noise. Alternate, Power steering pump, other puleys, even the power steering pipe touched the subframe can make the noise. The S55 AMG is a quiet and comfortable car.
At cold start the secondary air pump makes the noise.
Yes its shifts way better with 7G, yes the sounds is stupid good, and yes the car overall is better but when you really push tuned E55 its ridiculous how powerful that car can be.I love M156 but for adrenalin rush E55 is just better...
feels underpowered compared to what, tuned 113k or stock?
@@theotherchannel2028 both
When the supercharged E55 and SL55 came out in 2002 the 2002 S600 V12 twin turbo was alot quicker and it was a non AMG car the E55 and SL55 where slow compared to it 😬😬😬
@@YUSKHAN it was not a lot quicker , actually it was not quicker at all..I actually drove 05 S600 plenty of times , its a very calm stress free engine and it goes very well but not like M113K , and i’m talking a out stock M113K in E55, not to mention pne with just a level up smaller pulley, it would play circles around it.
@@YUSKHAN + in 2002 there was no V12 twin turbo. It was 5.8 N/A V12
5:05 every morning that sound is like therapy to my ears
Great video. I purchased a brand new C63 AMG back in August of 09. Prior to that I had a new C6 Z06. I found the AMG engine to be very refined in every way. Both cars were fast but the AMG V8 sounded so good and it was so smooth. I did long tube headers on the C63 AMG, air filters and a tune and it was a beast, I couldn't believe the torque and top end. On the other hand , I am very familiar with the E55 AMG, I have 3 friends with ones, they are also quick but the transmission is a total missmatch to the car, the gearing is too long and the shifting is slow.
The long gearing has a lot of top end above 100, My E55 once it shifts into 4th gear it accelerates like a 700 hp car would.
Excellent video and it’s always nice to see your cars, they’re amazingly clean. The only disappointment was you didn’t show what that SL55 did the 1/4 mile in.
That video was 10.1 at 138 mph. However that video is like 4 years old. The same car is now further modified and just ran a 9.46 at 147 mph this year.
I love this chanel! You'r videos are clean if you know what i mean, with a lot of knowledge and information! Keep up!👊🏾
I *just* bought a C32 AMG wagon with the supercharged V6. It's a hell of a treat to go back to supercharged engines after a bunch of M113k cars before moving to Germany. The charger whine and performance mods pulled me back yet again.
Im a fan of the C32, SLK32 i wouldnt mind having one. Torquey little supercharged V6
Being an cls55 owner with a smaller pulley 77mm apart from struggling with belt slip mid power (needs a belt wrap kit) the tune and pulley made it so aggressive from the off but it’s also done over 300 mile round trips on less then a tank
Some pounds spent on getting bits upto my standard but 16 years old power and style isn’t out of place today in fact they look better then most modern saloons
That black SL63 was spectacular on video. That's the thing- the M156 was installed in better overall cars like the 2009+ W211 and 2009+ R230. They didn't overlap production.
its M156/ E63 AMG for me hands down, the comfort and facelift style + Monster sound + performance there is no comparison.
M113K is literally built like a tank, It is so easy to extract more power from it and I just think it's hella underrated. Yes the M156 creates more thunder and is the more fun engine to thrash around in, but M113K is the one to own.
C63 owner here. While I love my M156, it was a Downgrade in comparison to the Simple and more Reliable M113k
Hey, Tasos. Another great channel.
BTW, great video.
Im so dumb to sell my 2005 E55 AMG,
I had it with less than 20k miles, silver with 3 tone interior. Love 5.4 kompressor
I have an E55, the M113K torque is amazing. Having said that I really want a M156 car as well even though the w211 E63 I drove felt slower it had a totally different feel.

Honest and fair review. I’ve owned my 2005 SL55 (performance pack model) from new. The 113 remains the best road engine I have ever driven! 💪
I love the NFS: High Stakes car menu music... So chill
Another excellent Video short and concise, Keep them coming AMG Meister!!!!!
I also own both engines E55 & CLS63 and I agree with the M113K. Torque and instant low end power is just unbeatable.
W211 for the win just absolutely gorgeous 😍 ❤
For me the two best German Sedans we are fortunate to have experienced is the Mercedes W211 and BNW E39 🤌❤
Agree. So much do, I bought an E39, died on me in 3 months. Immediately bought a w211, been running great for the 5 years I've had it...
Team m113k over here s55 💪🏾💯
W211 for the WIN!! I loved mine (not an AMG, but my first Benz) Lost it in a hit & run by a jerk in a Prius... Still suffering from that loss!! I WILL have another W211!
Still love my 08' SL55 I've had for years. Comfortable. The engine is great; the trans is a typical slush box.
The cars and engine bays featured in this video are just ridiculously clean. Love it.
Well said!!!!
Blesses.
Dammmm this a good video big fat thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
E55 for me soon here in the UK,
Sold my C63 that I had for 12months after a few issues started to appear,
Oil leaks, startup rattle and few other things, great car but had me worried.
Both amazing though.
The M113k is a much clearer winner than the video suggests. More power, better economy, easier upgrades for even more power. The 'reliability' issues mentioned for the M113k are insignificant, yet the M156 issues are catastrophic!
Amazing comparison video. Thank you with help my dilemma. I will choose a CLS55 AMG with M113😎🙏
Loved my CLS 55 for 10 years.
Of course M113К. Have it in my cls55 AMG IWC.
The only answer is both! I’m an M156 guy all the way but I really want either an E55 or SL55 in the near future!
The supercharger clutch typically doesn’t become an issue once warm. When cold it’s awful!
Anyone who details their engine/bay like i do, probly got chill bumps watching this video. Great video.
You've made my S55 a happy car today. Thank you.
M156 vs M157 next. Just bought my first M157 yesterday 👍🏽😁(13’ E63) upgraded from M113K E55
I own a CLK63, the M156 is epic in every way. It's like a screaming 4 pot in the way it revs and the mad powerband. For me not only AMGs best engine but one of the best naturally aspirated engines of all time.
Love the supercharged v8!
Best sound ever. V8 rumble and a high pitch wind.
I have a 2003 S55 and a 2003 SL55. M113 FTW!

Your assessment is right on!
The M156 sounds amazing but the best AMG I have heard so far is a C55 with a Kleemans C8 supercharger conversion and full exhaust . It sent shivers down my spine
a very well done video i really enjoyed it good work!
Great video. I have a 09 g55 and always thought the156 wasn’t up to the task and so Mercedes skipped putting it in the g63. I love the m311k
Love my C63 with the M156!
I love my 07 SL55 and the M113K under its hood. The torque is just nuts 🙂
M113 is bulletproof
M156 sounds much better
5 speed auto is a dinosaur
7 speed auto much sweeter
how can I donate and ask technical questions, id like to ask questions concerning a M157 E63 I'm thinking about buying.
question...... M157, pure 900 turbos, spool fx fuel system, FI interchiller, down pipes and renntech transmission, any comments???????
Was worried my 2006 CLS AMG would loose this one!
