Loved the video! Looks like you replaced the headbolts one at a time without removing the cylinder head. Am I correct in surmising that when tightening each individual headbolt, you tighten to the maximum torque in one movement (instead of tightening in stages), and then turn it the prescribed angle?
Maybe I missed it but I noticed you didn't mention cam lobe wear? I've watched a few other videos about the M156 and it always comes up. Is that something to be concerned about? I have an 09 E63 with about 99k on it. Edit: Also great video. Enjoyed it and learned a lot. Thank you!
my c63 just keeping runing lean and idle lean so I rebuild the intake manifold change the pcv valve the bolt of the intake manifold and the gasket still has the problem what should I do next?
What would you consider an M159 bulletproofing? I hear the tappets are already different (not the blackseries version but an SLS version with the coating on the face not all around.
The tappets are the same in the standard 159. The Black Series ones are different but currently on backorder. Honestly haven’t even done adjusters on a 159. Imagine because they don’t get the miles/use the 156 cars do.
Yes keep the videos coming they are super cool and you guys give us real information.
Thanks Keep it up!
Thank you! Trying a bunch of different things, glad you enjoy it

Hey, I just wanted say that I appreciate your videos ! The details are awesome 💪🤠
We greatly appreciate you letting us know!
M156 is higher maintenance over M113/113k but well worth it!
6.2L sounds amazing at 7k+ rpm.
Auditory bliss
thanks brother!! nice video i like the knowledge, owner of 2009 m156 cl63 ////AMG babyyyyy
Thank you so much! The CL’s are so special
On the whole, would you say these m156 engines are more reliable/have a significantly smaller change of catastrophic failure than an m157/m278?
By a large margin, yes.
Enjoy your videos. Curious question: when you all rebuilt cam phasers do you reuse adj bolts? I see you replace torque to yield cam bolt.
Reuse adjuster bolts yes. 15-18nm

It is still done in stages
Blake! Nice work
Thanks!

Should have replaced the intake camshaft too. But again up to the owner. Its his car.
We inspected it. No issues found
