I have gingivitis and nobody has better oral hygiene than me! I never skip flossing or brushing - ever! My theory is that it may be because I damaged my gums by using an electric toothbrush incorrectly when I was younger, as immediately after my gums were so red and painful. I continue to brush twice daily and floss, but the swollen red gums remain.

If you have good oral hygiene then you probably won't have gingivitis. Bleeding sore gums does not always mean gingivitis/periodontitis. Instead of theorising yourself certainly go and see a dentist.
