What about VLDL and Triglycerides? Are they not a type of Cholesterol? Your advice on saturated fat like butter and coconut oil is incorrect. What about HDL /LDL ratio and HDL/ Triglycerides ratio? Keto diet is more beneficial than the diet you proposed. What the role of Insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome in the causation of low HDL and high Triglycerides? I am a lay person but I feel your video is misleading
I'm on a high protein, low calorie and low carbohydrate diet. I take vitamin D, fish oil and cholesteroff supplement that is a plant sterall. No longer on blood pressure medication, ldl went from 122 to 72 and hdl is still on the low side at 36. Long story short and a loss of 60 pounds with 40 to go im sure ill be good on all numbers by then.
margarine ? seriously ?. This Dr needs to get some nutrition education . Statins are now proving toxic. Increase good fats. Butter, coconut oil, nuts etc. Exercise , get a proper blood test done and check mineral levels. especially magnesium .

Eating Fresh butter and not margarine is better but stopping other LDL and Triglycerides may be more valid using olive oil is also good. Cutting out saturated fats is definiitely a no no stopping or cutting down on alcohol is probably more valid as well as decreasing sugar. Please please please do not use artificial sweeteners.
Margarine is a modern, man made invention. Butter is a natural food eaten for 1000's years. In fact the body can digest butter more easily than olive oil. Which one is better? Butter. A good rule of thumb. If it's a natural food eaten for centuries it's probably good for you. If it's a modern creation, think twice. Of course in any healthy diet it's important go easy on fat consumption as fats are calorie rich.

Mine was 106mg/dl 4 months ago (and obviously it must have dropped since then) and total cholesterol 137 which was very good but my hdl was quite low. The doctors said it's not a very big problem thanks to the low ldl and total cholesterol but it should be over 40 he said. I've also been taking 16mg of niacin everyday. Do you think it has increased?
A high protein and fat, low carb diet (with some moderation) WILL lower your cholesterol. In fact I have lowered it from 260 to 170 that way and tested it for over 8 years now with great results. Now eat plenty of "good" fats and you will improve your ratio. Still two eggs a day and a couple of strips of beacon about three times a week will actually also help, believe it or not. So....I disagree 100 % with your recommendations. Lack of understanding from the medical community is what has everybody on statins. Sorry. The problem is in the CARBS, which are the ones that mess up cholesterol.

I use margarine to clean the grease off of my hands after working on the car. Works great!
Cut carbs to under 20 g per day and eat plenty of healthy fatty meats. Stop using "vegetable" oil and use butter, lard, coconut oil instead.
