I am 60 years old and have all my natural born teeth. I brush twice a day, gargle with mouthwash and floss daily and have not had any cavities. toothaches or any gum problems in over 25 years. In fact my Dentist told me I have the teeth of someone in their 30's! My gums are pink and don't bleed. My message is take good care of your oral health. It will be worth it and there is nothing like a healthy mouth and teeth!

We often talk about brushing and flossing but we forget about diet. For oral health you need vitamins and minerals: vitamin D, C, A,E and K, you also need Omega-3 , calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. You can get vitamin D and Omega-3 from fermented cod liver oil capsules , calcium from Kale. Kale and wheatgrass powder are actually rich in vitamins and minerals. Start with your diet.

Vitamin c does wonder for your oral health, I love oranges, an lemons an I eat them almost everyday, had on start of gum disease years ago, went in to see my dentistm6 months later an he asked what had I been doing, because my gums were in such good shape compared to my last visit, he asked if I was taking vitamin C, an I told him no, but I eat 3 oranges a day, along with lemons, an limes, I love citrus fruits, an he goes that's it, you are getting a lot of vitamin C an vitamin C is good for your oral health, an also your skin an hair. I am 56 years old, almost 57, I am completely natural. Everything I use on my body is something that you can grow in your garden, my skin is beautiful, an I don't even wash my face everyday. For all my ladies who spent tons an tons of money on face creams, an serums, save your money. Do research, fine natural products that are so much cheaper, or no cost if you have a lemon or orange tree, I live in California, an citrus trees are every where, most people have them in their back yards, I am at the age now, where, I refuse to buy beauty, my inner beauty shows, which is most important, but most people think I am very attractive, an they have no idea I am almost 60 years old

A good rinse can be made with water, salt and baking soda. For antiseptic dilute hydrogen peroxide to half strength in water. Obviously don't mix the baking soda rinse and the peroxide rinse unless you want the oxygenated bubbles, of course.

This routine is absolutely recommended. By the way: A double-blind study at the University of Wurzburg in Germany showed that drinking 3 x 100 ml of lettuce juice after two weeks is effective in improving the condition of the gums in case of periodontitis. Probably other green vegetables containing nitrates converted to nitric oxide would also do the job.

I am scared, terrified. I had an amergency surgery to pull a very badly infected tooth that led to a serious abscess. The abscess had eaten away my jaw bone for 5 months without me knowing it or feeling pain until it was finally exposed. The extraction and massive infection led to over use of antibiotics to save my life. It left me with oral thrush, gingivitus, and resistant to Fluconazole. So I am trying home remedies and here is it 3 months later and still dealing with oral thrush after using home remedies and candida diet. I will try the lettuce juice.

Hi doctor , I just wanted to share a cultural anecdote : in India, traditionally, people do not floss and are wary of dentists under the mistaken notion that they “ pull
out your teeth” so dental hygiene is not like in the west but surprisingly people are cery aware of the importance of keeping your tongue clean and all kinds of contraptions exist on the market to keep the tongue clean to ward off bacteria
Also in India, you find all kinds of natural toothpastes ( with cloves, fennel seeds, cinnamon grounded bark) that you don’t get in the US

I am convinced of the terrain model - meaning that your general health is extremely important in periodontal disease . For example if you are a type two diabetic you will be much more prone to periodontal disease with the same cleaning regime as a person without diabetes. These two advocate for cleaning / symptom treatment .
Your diet is important . Your sleep is important . “ If you don’t have a healthy mouth you cannot have a healthy body “ it’s the other way around ,buddy .
You should perhaps clean your teeth but taking care of your overall health and keeping fit is of more relevance to this problem .

Are there risks of mouth cancers from using mouthwash due to the alcohol content in it? Also it can lead to dry mouth and kill off good microbiome in the mouth? What is your take on this?

In India, there are roadside “ dentists” for the poorest of the poor, they don’t use anesthésia, or electric drills but just pliers, plastic stool and painkillers and they charge less than 1 dollar (!) for tooth extraction.
In Indian govt hospitals, there are no dentists so the poor resort to these medieval practitioners as they can’t afford private treatment
It is really fascinating to see the difference between the US and India in dental health care

I have had a tooth with the mercury filling for over 40 years. A lot of small town Dentist don't tell you how important it is to take good care of your teeth. They just clean and fill, because the ultimate goal is to keep a patient coming back over-and over again. Well, all that said, I've been extremely weary of Dentist when I received my second mercury filling. 4 years ago I was told the second mercury filled tooth needed to be pulled, so bacteria and infection would not set-in. The reason I intended on going was to replace the mercury and save my tooth. I decided not to pull it. I've been taking natural measures like coconut oil pulling- to remove toxins, flossing, baking soda, sea salt, and Peroxide to vet rid of bacteria. My tooth is very strong, now. Recently, I noticed my first mercury filled tooth is misfiring some of the filling, because I've been having to rely on that tooth for grinding, to give my other to a break. Now, I am feeling some little bumps on my gum, and have been having the most awful, aching pain. I've been trying to relieve it with pain reliever, numbing medicine, oil pulling, and about everything I can think of. I'm going to a Biological Dentist the first week in April, but until then, do you have any suggestions on getting rid of gum pain?😮

    • @annmolina9300
      @annmolina9300 Рік тому

Oil pulling can loosen your mercury fillings. Get them replaced before filling breaks off. Mine came off suddenly. There was a large gap left. Make sure bacteria is not growing underneath old filling.

We can make natural mouth wash too with out the chemicals or added sugar which that brand and others like it has and with out it being tested on animals using e.g
    1. Himalayan salt
    2. Grapefruit seed extract ( anti septic, anti viral , anti bacterial and more
    3.Hydrogen Peroxide Solution 6%
    ( mouth wash gargle)
Any of these mixed with filtered or distilled water
We can also make our own toothpaste too .
Since doing this I have had less issues with my gums and teeth .
I also make home made toothpaste for my dog family member with Raw ORGANIC virgin coconut oil with a little bit of organic ginger extract ( powder or liquid is ok )

Dr Nemeth, I appreciate watching your videos. The Dentist wants to coat the areas of tooth erosion where the gums have receded with a layer coating of bonding material. I wore braces as a teen. He said this is in my best interest. But those teeth are not bothering me. (and he could not guaranty the bonding color would match.) My concern is to avoid losing tooth #25. Because I have the sensation that it's extruding out. And when I press it with my finger nail, I see slight movement. I see erosion but not abfraction, not a break in the tooth. The most tartar is behind the lower front teeth. After I used the Philips Water Sonic Water Flosser at the lowest setting with the purple tip, made it feel like the bacteria was pushed into the pocket and it felt worse. And that made me stop using the Water Flosser. Is LANAP or pinhole treatment necessary? The gum in front of #25 tooth is thin. I begin using Closys Mouth Rinse, and wait 20 min. I floss, and brush. After brushing I use Original Listerine mouthwash and I follow up with 100% alcohol free ACT mouthwash. And then I use Biotene an hour afterwards to make the lower teeth feel better. (tooth #14 has significant gum recession.) The Dentist suggested to make a customized molded mouth guard. Should I put on a mouth guard at bedtime? I see the Dentist on Tuesday for a checkup and cleaning, how should I approach this? Thank you. P.S. The socks are cool.

Eat only once as they cause cavity. Not everyday beush your teeth after eating them. After thirty minutes. Most of the mischief is done by the food. Particle stuck in the teeth. I once needed a root scalling but couldn't afford it. I did some research and found out about oil pulling. I also started flossing EVERY DAY- in my case I flossed by putting tea tree oil on my floss bcuz I had swollen gums and deep pockets in certain quadrants. I also rinsed with listerine every night.
Fast forward to my appointment day; my hygienist said " who told you you needed an under the gum line cleaning"? You do not need a root scalling.
I told her the last hygienist that did my cleaning. Check the records.
Told her I did some things to help myself in-between visits. She said " whatever you did, keep on doing it" I told her I will because dentistry is wayyyyyy too expensive. She eventually asked me what I did, and I told her.
I am now more intentional in my oral care and hygiene. I should've been doing this from years b4 but didn't. As a child I was taught to brush my teeth- so that's what I did.......until the pain hit. I know much better now!!!

Are you brushing twice daily? A lot of scaling won’t do much if you don’t maintain it. If you do brush regularly then you may have to do a complete blood count to check your platelet level.

This is very bad once it starts it so hard to stop I brushed my teeth everyday and it wasn’t enough it eventually ate most of my teeth away from he gum line! By the time I found out what the hell was going on I only have 6 of my natural teeth left intact! You literally have to use everything possible brushing, mouth wash, multiple times a day, just to keep it under control, it never really goes away!

Tea tree oil does wonder for bacteria, but you must be careful, because you are not supposed to ingest tea tree oil, do not swallow. Here are a few ways that I use it in my oral hygiene routine. Add one or two drop to half glass of water, an rinse, add a drop to your toothpaste an brush your teeth, I wouldn't advise anyone else to do this, but this is what I do 2 or 3 times a week, I apply tea tree oil with a q tip directly on my gums for one minute, then I rinse my mouth out with warm water, keep in mind, tea tree oil is very strong, an usually it is used with a carrier oil, but it works wonder, I've been using it for years, there is always 2 or 3 bottles in my medicine cabinet

Doc, are good teeth basically genetic? I never visited a dentist until I was seventeen. I never flossed until I was 23. I’ve only had three minor , minor cavities and I’m 50 now. I’ve never had a toothache. My father was the same. Never list a tooth until he was 68 and had leukemia causing loss of teeth.

I've been battling gum disease for a year now, nothing seems to help. I've visited different dentists 5 times this year and all I'm told is that I either brush too hard or not enough. I've used antiseptic mouthwashes, different types of brushes (I mainly use an electric one), I've looked up brushing and flossing techniques on UA-cam. I'm feeling helpless and my dentists never suggest any other methods...

Try finding a liquorice stick n chew on it, supposedly good for the mouth, use a mild bristle brush n brush twice, esp night, rinse mouth after meal to eliminate any residue left in the mouth, massage ur gums with mustard oil with lil salt mixed , it greatly soothes n helps healing gums.. also oil pulling can be tried!! Trying these things are of no harm in case nothing works out too.. but mostly it must

I wish we had dentists like this in the U.K., my dentist said amoebas and things like that were one school of thought that he doesn’t follow, and he’s a very skilled. He won’t clean my teeth, dentists don’t seem to do that anymore. I have to book in for the hygienist, but it’s a 6month waiting list, that’s common in the U.K., and my teeth are so sensitive a hygienist can’t control the pain during treatment, so I have to hope the dentist can co e in and give me several injections or more likely these days it just ends up being a failed hygienist appt. I’m desperate in the mean time, I’m allergic to citric acid, and alcohol mouthwashes seem to make things worse. It’s a circular problem that I can’t afford to break out of. How did dentistry and health become so disjointed? I’ve been gargling with tea tree oil which seems to help with the white tongue, and I’m trying Kaffir Lime leaf tea, it’s all helpful but not a cure when things are this progressive and bad. I’m on purée healthy diet, quit smoking, brush carefully, but four teeth out just last week, and my gums are too inflamed and blue for temporary plate to fit properly. This has cost over 1k, but I hasnt treated the periodontal disease. I’ve had so many antibiotics over the years, without any testing to see if they’re the right ones. It seems like this is normal for U.K. dentistry at the moment, huge waiting list and the treatment gap between wealthy and poor is now expanding so much that middle income earners can’t afford it. It feels like my only hope would be to visit the Periodontist in France who collaborates with Mr Nemeth.
