Thank you for this video. Since my 30th birthday, six months ago I've been in tears with my non stop hair loss. After countless tests, my dermatologist diagnosed me with severe androgenetic alopecia. I've only been leaving the house in hats and have been too ashamed/terrified to consider wigs. But after watching your video and how composed and unafraid you are with wearing wigs, I feel ready to try. I was surprised when you said your hair was a wig, I couldn't tell! Prior to this I had no idea there was female hair loss, now that I'm in this group I love the time and work you and other ladies have put into these videos. They truly do help. Thank you.

Hi guys. Iv'e been wearing wigs for 50+ years, and I'm SO excited that I found Jill's site. She's so informative and I've learned a lot from Jill and the new wigs and products out there. Manufacturers are creating phenomenal elements to make wigs more comfortable and more natural than ever before. Hurray!! The only comment I would add to this very informative video is to be careful about placing your wigs on a foam head. Foam heads will most definitely not be the shape of your head and your wig with wearing will "remember" or take on the characteristics of your head. This is especially important for the lace front wigs. That strip is very delicate and once it is misshapen it won't sit snug and be invisible so just plop your wig on a drying stand or store flat. You can even store them in a ziplock for space saving, but remember to put a tag with it name and color in case you want to order that again!

Thank you Cathy! I didn't know this about the foam head! I don't have one....but, mostly because they kind of creep me out! haha! You are a wonderful asset to the wig community and would love for you to chime in when you can! Excellent post w/ great advice for us wig wearers! Thanks for watching!

@@gmed2 oh gosh I never got notification of this question wow a whole year ago! My favorite go to wig is "Straight Up With a Twist" by Raqu Welch. I feel most confidant in her products and the lace front is my favorite. I love the feel and appearance of the heat friendly fiber as the plain synthetics are too shiny for me at least. I hope you're having fun experimenting.

Thank you, Jill, you just answered so many questions I have about wigs and how to care for them. I am new to wigs and needless to say after buying 6 wigs, I have yet to gather the courage to wear them out in public because I don't feel they look natural and had no idea how to deal with them! I am losing my hair so very rapidly that is very scary. I have lost all self-confidence and I am so frustrated it is painful. Thank you again, you just gave me some hope.

Savannah, I hope you are now comfortable with your wig choice.(s). I know how self conscious one can feel with hair loss, especially if it is permanent. I bought my first one two years ago, but didn’t wear it much as I felt self conscious. Now I own 11, all different styles and colors and decided to celebrate the opportunity to change my hair with my attitude all the time. Best of luck!

I only discovered your channel when my hair started leaving me in the dust. So now and then I do a deep dive into your older videos, while I keep up on your newer ones.
All that to say I’m really glad I found this video! I’ve purchased 3 wigs and 1 topper so far, and have only been brave enough to wear the topper (as a bare minimum to cover the bare maximum of hair loss areas.) 😅
Living on SS, I obviously can’t afford the nicer wigs, but have had fun shopping “El’Cheapos” on places like Temu, etc. Still, as surprising as they have been, I’ve been too scared to wear them, not knowing what to DO with them, lol.
So this has been great! (finding this buried treasure video) Thank you! 🤗

Great video with wonderful suggestions especially regarding the damage incurred using any shampoo products. I started a comment and dont know what happened to it. Anyway I will try again. I've suffered from hairloss a very long time. Mainly top and right side of my head. My natural hair is fine and curly. About 3 weeks ago I ordered jon renau ignite in fs12s8 and love it. I ordered wig grips because I found the wig didnt feel secure. The grip helped alot. Today I wore it out to grocery store for the first time and loved it. You have taught me so much in the past month about wigs and expectations of wearing a wig. I also tried the look you did with Anastasia glam palette and it came out nice. I have watched other wig youtubers but you are my favorite. Thank you for teaching that caucasian women can wear wigs too. Xox

Happy Christmas and Thank You. Just got my first wig this past week. I was overwhelmed by all the available wig products so I genuinely appreciate this video. My new wig is Delaney by Envy. I bought thinning shears, wig caps, hairnets, a drying rack, a wig brush for synthetic hair, some spray dry shampoo and some of the got2b "adhesive"jell Patti talks about. The beauty supply places I went to did not have John Renau products, so I will have to order that stuff at a later date, although I really like your idea of woolite and fabric softener, tbh.

    • @lindap.p.1337
      @lindap.p.1337 3 роки тому

I use Jon Renau or Estetica wig shampoo and conditioner on my wigs. I tried the fabric softener and could not live with the smell. I have never had the first problem. I wash my wigs after about fourteen wearings and hang them upside down overnight for drying. I do not buy HD fibers.

Hi there! I FEEL your frustration because that is EXACTLY why I decided to take the jump into the wig pond! I think you need to just do it! Think of it as a fun, new journey! You will be able to 'finish' your getting ready routine with beautiful hair! I think it's fun...another accessory really. Yes, at first it's a bit daunting going out in the real world with your wigs...but, it's just something you are going to have to make your mind up to just not caring and get out there! Who cares what people think! You have been tossing this around for a couple years...something is making you ponder this....I think it's time. ;) Let me know...keep me updated. Thanks for watching, and I hope you find other videos here that are helpful.

Great! Securing my wig was the biggest challenge for me in the beginning. That is a matter of experimenting. You will figure it out! I don't seem to have one of those 'made for wigs' heads. Ha! I wish I were one of those people who can just adjust those straps in back and plop it on and go! Most people find they do need to secure it in some fashion...either IT STAYS, wig tape, clips (sew in), Wig Grips can also work great for many! You'll figure it out, though! Good luck!

Very informative for first-timers. I had no idea you were a hair stylist. Do you realize that you may have a great and valuable career as a wig stylist? Honestly, I have wigs that I would love to get trimmed because I'm danger with a scissor. If you lived near me, I would be at your door!
But--I would also add for a first timer to get a good tweezer so that the part of the wig could be manipulated to make it look more realistic--and powder to match the skintone so there will be no line of demarcation. Got 2B glued is also wonderful to keep the edges down from lifting.

Before experimenting, I would just use a little hairspray on top (like my regular hair) and go (often disappointed). You gave me courage to play around and now everything has changed. It's miraculous, really. Kind of like how you felt when you discovered the magic of fabric softener from someone else. Thank god for hairstylist background, that's all I can say. P.S. Please, please, please make a video and teach us how to cut fringe and layer. P.P.S. Love the deeper lip color (a change from your nudes). You look stunning.

Please tell me your name is Wendalina...because that is SO pretty! I am tickled to know that you were inspired to get in there and play with your wigs w/ styling products! Doesn't it change your wigs to become more 'you'; not just something out of the box? I love this comment! Thanks for watching, and for taking the time to post! Hugs~ (thank you for your very sweet compliment)

I really want to get into wigs. I am 67 yo and do not have any hair loss or thining. I just would love to be able to put on a wig instead of taking so much time styling my own hair. My question is if I wear a wig often, will this be detrimental to my real hair?

As a senior, my nature hair is thin and I have it cut just below my ears. I bought a wig and returned to Amazon as the color was horrible. I like the bob cut in champagne or honey blonde. I do not want grey or silver. Also, I have a small head. I live in Florida and need a much lighter weight wig. I have googled but only found one I like but over 1000.00. Can you make a recommendation?

Hi. Love ALL of your videos. Finally decided to purchase a wig, but it is not heat friendly. What CAN I do as far as styling? Once it is drying can I curl it with regular curlers? Is it safe to have my hairdresser trim it to my style? Thank you so very much.

I recently bought a wig not knowing that it needed preparation before wearing it for the first time. The shop that sold it to me didn't tell me that i needed to purchase a hair net to wear underneath. I tried following internet advice for loosening the tangled up mess out of the box. Now its ruined and i wasted $170 and got told i should have asked the advice before purchase.

Great Video, Jill! Even though I've been wearing wigs for about 1 1/2 years, I've learned lots of tips from your! I did purchase a HD wig (Classic Cut by Raquel Welch-a little cheapie) I feel like a complete klutz when trying to style it! Do you have a video on styling, curling, etc. a HD fiber wig? I can't remember! That is my only HD wig I have so far, the rest are plain synthetic. Thanks!! :)

Thank you! I am so tickled that you have learned a few tips from watching! I haven't done a video on how to style (w/ heat) a wig...mostly because I never seem to want to use heat and style my HD wigs! Haha! I have seen Patti style her Ignite wig w/ heat....AMAZING! She turned that wig into something very different...beautiful!

Hi Jane! You know when you start layering stuff on your lips...and the end result is nice, but you will never be able to replicate it again?....that's probably is what happened this day! Haha! Here is how I THINK it went down: LOL
1st I lined with my Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Nude liner
Than I felt bold...and went in with my RA POPPIE lip gloss
Went HOLY CRIPES!! And followed it up with a layer of RA Belinni. (the coral)
FINALLY recorded a video (a different one)...and then before this one I put on a FOIL lip gloss call VIP by Makeup Geek and BAM that is what you see here! HAHA! Are you sorry you asked? LOL

Very well done! ❤️. I do have one question, what about hair spray? Is there a hair spray for wigs or can you use regular hair spray? Just wondering as it always seems there are a few little fly away hairs that are SO aggravating! 😉. Xxxx, MYRA 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

    • @JillLynnBeautyTherapy
      @JillLynnBeautyTherapy  7 років тому +2

Hi Myra! Hair spray is a bit tricky in the wig world! Ha! You shouldn't use non-wig spray on synthetic fibers (although some do, but I haven't been brave enough to attempt). ;) I use the Jon Renau Holding Spray...and didn't like it at first. It works a lot better with other styling products, and if you use dry shampoo in your wigs, you will find it helps A LOT with your styling products in general. Yes, those fly a ways that straggle in the face drive my nuts! Even product doesn't handle all of them. I will literally pull them out if they aggravate me enough. ;)

Thanks for the tips on the wigs I just have one that I bought when I had my disability settlement I always wanted to have auburn hair and the one time I tried to dye it it's stained my naturally blonde hair purple the only time I've ever colored my hair in my life so that's why I bought an Auburn wig but I've literally only wore it twice and I keep it in the box now you said not to keep it in the box why is that??? On a side note I lived in Miami 3 years and I'm so disappointed that I didn't buy a wig they have wig shops all over and they are so inexpensive for real hair too so I really regret not buying a couple more while I was living there LOL

Hi Ssue, iv naturally bright orange hair.!! Am now early 60's and it's still bright orange, with quite a lot of grey through it. You try matching a hairpiece or half wig to that combination!! Impossible, so, with recent diabetes diagnosis, and hair fall like you won't believe, iv gone for a full wig, still not arrived yet, dark auburn with highlights, I'm scared to death it will look like a wig. Hope you get some confidence, me too, take care. Xx

Clip for hanging after shampooing & even to store. BTW, I only buy the synthetic ones. Company is FANTASTIC!! Styles & colors for everyone's taste!

It’s Ignite by Jon Renu in 12fs8 Shaded Praline.
Many much cheaper versions comes in most of the other ‘budget’ styles, some without the permatease. It’s a really nice style and suits pretty much all face shapes. My daughter won’t let me buy it as she says it’s a ‘Karen’ wig 😩. I felt fabulous in it, sassy and sexy, but she totally refused!!

Hi Jill! New subscriber here. So beautiful you are, and I posted here because this is what I was watching but I'm more looking into toppers. I want to ask a question but it just may be me or just May be my TV. I watched this 1st Wig one and also the lace front Raquel Welsh one. Like I said this might be my TV, but it seems as though you're white balance on your video camera is very high. Bleh, I taught TV production video production for 28 years, and if you're not setting it then it is feeding off of the dark curtain behind you. The reason I ask is because it is making it very hard for me to tell what the actual colors of the hair is, and also any details up close towards your face that you're doing are Washed out. Love your videos so happy I found you, if they don't look like that to other viewers please guys let me know and maybe the setting of my TV.
