You really covered the useful items that are available these days. It used to be nylon caps and Bobbi pins, there wasn't much choice. Living in the high desert, with wind gusts up to 80mph, it's been a challenge...such fun running after your wig in a crowded parking lot...oh I can laugh about it now, 30 years later! Thank goodness there's pressure clips. If you can use them, for extra hold, try teasing, or back combing, in the areas where your clips hit. Spray a little hairspray at the root, back comb, let it dry, then apply the wig, sliding the clips into those little stiff, teased areas. Snap shut and that wig ain't going anywhere. Just be careful and gentle when you go to remove the wig. If your head is average sized, a silicone band works very well. Use it rough or bumpy side up. I can only speak to living in a very windy environment, and the ways I've dealt with keeping my wigs on. When my bio hair was almost mid thigh in length, I'd make two loose braids and wrap them around my head, pinning them in place. They acted like a wig grip and worked really well. Now I'm old and cut my hair short. Pressure -toupee clips are sewn into most of my wigs.

Denise, thank you so very much for all of these choices. I am 70 this year. I am losing my once thick hair. I have Lupus and painful joint pain from degenerative discs and scoliosis. Somedays I am too weak to take alot of time to be sure that my wigs are secure. I think with all your help today I will find an answer to help me. You are so precious and clearly caring.😇 Thank you dear one!!

I’m about to turn 60 in a few weeks. I’ve been dealing with the same issues as you, but can’t afford to get medication or even see a Dr. Can’t get approved for any insurance since moving to Missouri from Illinois. I’ve been losing my hair more & more. It’s causing me additional depression. I just stumbled across Denise’s videos & she’s helping me feel a little hope again. Including you in my prayers. Hello and thank you for an excellent video... My hair has almost all fallen out now, but I have yet to get a wig... As my head is less than 21 inches I have had a hard time to find one small enough looking online... Finally, I ordered a synthetic Petite and a costly human hair wig and pray to God I can wear them as it is a hardship for me to afford any wig. Mine will have to last for years. You are teaching me lots of things here... There are no local wig shops near where I live so I have to rely on videos to learn and ordering online. My own hair is still long and a ponytail is now the size of a pencil, so I have to get real here and realize I just don't have any hair left now...

I’m so thankful for finding your channel. I have been wearing wigs for two years since my cancer diagnosis. My own hair post chemo is just awful and I have mourned the loss of it , but I decided to make Lemonade and after trying and failing to grow it back to stick with wigs. I have purchased some very beautiful wigs that I like , BUT I’ve spent a small fortune !!! it’s always on a hope and prayer that they look nice, fit well . I’ve been ordering on line because they are SO expensive to get at a salon. I have a lot of catching up to do because I know essentially 0 about them 😮 I also recently decided to buzz my hair so I’m going to watch those videos next!

OH MY GOODNESS DENISE!!! FINALLY I think you've helped me figure out WHY I'm having such a problem!!! I have a FLAT HEAD in the back!!! I can feel the bone back there but it's not even the least bit prominent and it's just kind of smooth from my neck up. I have been thinking my two wigs are too small because they're always trying to ride up but now I'm thinking that the back of my head is just too flat! She lives with me in Miami, Florida where it is hot and humid and perspiration is a problem outside so I've been looking for solutions that keep her wigs on securely and comfortably. She is such a beautiful woman, inside and out, and it breaks my heart when she says that she doesnt recognize herself anymore when she looks in the mirror. I just want to thank you for all the hard work and dedication you have put into this video. I just got my first wig a couple of days ago and it's only because of watching the numerous videos put out by yourself and others that I didn't throw it in the drawer never to see the light of day again! Because of all your information I know that I will just take the time and play with it and try some of the options till I get it right. Securing my wig feels like the most important thing for me right now also I have a strong widows peak and then my hair recedes back but having my wig cover the peak means my wig feels like it's too far forward on my forehead 😞 I will keep watching all your tips and tricks and find the comfortable solution I'm sure. Great info, I have most of those items and they all work, when in a hurry I just wear the wig grip, just a regular one and then a headband, it's fast, does not need the It Stays and works like a charm, I would be lost without my headbands, if the wind is strong then I wear the wig grip, a bit of It Stays and then the head band and I know for sure my wig is secure and it will not fly away, thanks for another great video.

Coming on 2 years in my wig journey. I still learn from these videos. Thx Denise. Just ordered Ebin orange can finally 🙄 The one grip you didn't show is the Milano topper grip, a smaller area of velvet with an elasticband to go atound yourhead. I have a couple and they work well. I use the wig tape on them. You have to be careful removing your topper so as not to let any long bio hair fall on the tape so I just remove the grip with the topper and use the topper that way until the tape loses stickiness. I want to try Ebin that way. 😊

First - you are stunning- your video is more informative with “showing”us how - so never worry about not having a wig on.
I just ordered a wig. COVID has caused most of my hair to fall out. I know nothing about wigs. This has been great for me. So when it comes in, this video has given me a starting place to know “ what” will help and what the items are actually called so I’ll know what to search for and you seem like a very caring lady, thank you. I am praying this can be an option for me until my hair comes back in. I just want it to look as “natural” as I can make it look. I will be checking on more of your videos, as I think to (another COVID issue-brain fog).
Again, Thank you for taking your time for so many. 😊

I just discovered you today Denise! I was all excited when you mentioned the occipital bone problem at 17:23… I did not think I was going to find anything about that anywhere! When you said it has to do with comfort with wigs, I almost cried. No, no, my new friend does not understand😢. I I have never been able to wear wraparound headbands because they pop off after a few minutes. I ordered a bunch of scarves for people with alopecia… The ones that are like an infinity scarf… And they do a little bit better, but if I try to wear it for a number of hours, they begin to slip off also.
So thank you thank you thank you… I will be heading over to your blog as soon as I’m done with this video… I see that you polled people Who do have that problem. This is one of the big reasons I’m not excited about trying out wigs yet… I doubt anything will fit right, and even those velvet bands seem like they will betray my scalp. But it looks like you are pretty thorough and try to see things from all sides… Even the sides you haven’t experienced personally. Thank you! I look forward to following you

I have been a wig wearer for years, not because of the lack of bio hair I have, but because unfortunately, I have hair that will turn to frizz about 10 minutes after I'm finished styling it. It's awful. So when I go out anywhere, out comes one of my beautiful wigs. I want to let you know how I have addressed the issue of possible traction loss from all the hair clips I've had to sew into every wig I own. I bought (from Amazon) a large pack of these black velcro strips for hair. (Apparently some hairdressers use them to hold hair back while cutting hair.) Although they do not come in a tan or skin tone, I painted the one side facing outward with skin tone paint. Only one side of these strips have velcro. I sewed one piece on either side of the wig front, clipping one edge with the hair clips I had previously sewn in. They do an amazing job of keeping my wigs secure WITHOUT any loss of hair from constantly clipping the clips to my bio hair. (I still clip the 2 in the lower back to my bio hair, which are not noticeable) Anyway, that might be a solution to the traction loss from clips.

I use It Stays and Got2Be in the black tube. The Got2Be is more secure for me but the It Stays works most of the time, depends on the day I’ll have. For the back of the wig to help with ride up, I sew a small comb at the nape and it hooks into the bottom of my pony tail that I have pinned up. Works great! Oh, you’re mentioning that right now! Wow I am very happy I found you. This is exactly the kind of wig content I’m looking for. I’m new in my journey, only have one wig from Madison hair collection and it’s a band fall style and I adore it. I feel almost ready to try a lace front soon! Thank you so much again for making these videos. 😊

I sew the pressure clips in all my wigs as I do have bio hair. I usually sew 3-4 in them. Front, sides and back. My wigs go nowhere and I never have to worry about wind or anything. I love it.

Thank you so so much for sharing this great information and tips!!
I have hair thinning and have been wearing wigs for a couple years now,
I always love the extra security and this has really helped me!

  • @christinevonpander-incomes2036

When you were talking about “buzzing” your hair, I decided to keep my bio hair underneath to make a knot at the bottom back of my head to hook the wig combs. If a wig doesn’t come with combs, I sew them in. (I buy them at the dollar store) One in the front and one in the back. I hook the combs through the fishnet, rather than hooking into my hair. Then I wear the “Fishnet” style wig cap, as my bio hair is so fine, the wig would slide around without it. And the fishnet style does protect my baby fine bio hair.

Im new to my wig journey and have been watching some of your older videos and I have to say this ones is my favourite so far on you. I think its the length and colour. As always you look gorgeous but this wig is stunning!
On another note thank you for your videos. I was considering giving up but your videos have given me confidence and strength to keep going on this wig journey.

Thanks for this! My problem was the wig cap not staying on and bunching up in the wig. I saw people putting the wig cap over the grip and that worked for me. The extra layer is a bit hot however.

THANK YOU 😊 ❤. this was my first video of yours ive watched and it's the best wig video ive seen probably ever! I really appreciate your kindness and in depth knowledge. I was wondering exactly about one of those glues thank you. I will look to your other videos to see everything else and see if you mention lace melting spray too. I am getting my first open front lace wig [ previously a topper wearer 9x9]. I have mainly front hair loss so im very excited to hopefully have a more blendable look. Ive only had HH toppers except one synthetic that looked terrible abd i overpaid for times 4 at a local store. Im again so glad for all of your time and effort and will watch and subscribe now

I just watched this video and I’m so grateful. I’m going through chemo (for the second time) and I’m learning so much, I just got a wig which thankfully fits very well (tiny head) but I do feel like it’s moving (it isn’t). I lost my hair but I have that Velcro buzz that apparently is holding on to the wig, I found a cap uncomfortable but I might try that hair grip. This was very informative.

Thank you so much for your help information! I’m new to wigs I just lost practically all my hair due to alopecia and struggling with wigs. I have a slight flat head in the back that all wigs tend to slide up the back and leaves the top with a bump. I don’t know if it’s from synthetic hair wigs. I really can’t afford to buy real hair wigs. Thanks once again!

Thank you so much! I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I’ve been wearing wigs since ‘08 due to Alopecia Areata. I would love to see a video where you talk about your favorite wig designers and prices. I basically stick to the same designers unless there’s a shop I can try them on in. Right now, where I live there aren’t many options so I have to order online.

Thanks so much for this video. I am a new wig wearer and had a shorter Ellen wille that I can wear without anything. I got a longer Raquel Welch one and thought I could do the same thing and just wore it out with a friend for dinner, and was horrified when I came home to see that it slipped back and my bio hair was showing and I didn’t know. I haven’t worn a wig since, but I’m going to experiment at home with some of these suggestions.

If I use a wig grip it has to be the one with the elastic in the back. The rest want to slip off for some reason?? Then I got the Milano with the little tiny plastic string like thing that is clear & it's actually for toppers so you can clip the topper to the grip. Pretty cool. I just can't wear a topper because I don't have enough hair to go with it on top & the front is really really thin.

I'm about to buy my very first wig, "IGNITE" and my BIGGEST fear is it flying/falling off, or like the lady on YT, in line at a Walmart & she begin to argue with a guy & he walked off. But she was quite abusive to him & he walked back toward her & jerked her wig off. YIKES !! She was SO embarrassed, she walked off & left her groceries. THANK YOU for ALL your wig tips.
