Very helpful video! I wear glasses and have some side bio hair and would love to see a video on how to cut the ear tabs out of a synthetic wig. I find most brands sit right in my glasses path and would be so icy more comfortable without them. Thank you for all you do for your wig sisters 😊
That last reddish style was THE BOMB on you!@10:50. So beautiful with the pink top! I’ve watched you before BUT this last wig on you….sealed the deal, Ican do this!
I've bought some new varifocal glasses. I've ensured that the arms of the glasses are metal .They squeeze easier between the wig grip and other layers. I've also cut a strip of wig grip from above each ear and sewn in lace instead. That works well with glasses. Luckily all the wig tabs on my wigs are really bendy and have enough hair covering to make them comfy.❤
Thanks for sharing these vital details! I love my Milano Hat Wig with no ear tabs. Between my tiny head, prominent ears, glasses, and soon to be hearing aids….Yikes!
Did not know you can get wigs with no ear tabs, thanks for the info. I wish you did lives at a certain time so we could get on ask questions and ask your advice. Wig wearer since 1984 😳
thank you Denise for explaining this!! between the wig grip masks , eyeglasses it’s a real challenge-I have cut out the tabs on a number of my wigs as they would just go right over my ear :(((thank you for your tips those ear tabs for a number of them. I have cut the entire tab out as some even go completely over the air and then I put in Macomb, I wish I could nail down the hairlines of my wigs. I’m still working. Thank you for all you do.
Denise and ladies. You can cut out your ear tabs. It will not ruin your week. I’ve done it 1 million times and it is possible. So with that one hat wig you have, I would just cut them out. If you have to get wire cutters because there’s a wire in there, fine. You can pull it out by cutting a tiny bit into the lace and then pulling the wire out. But I find that if I use kitchen shears that are thick, I can just cut right through it.
@@donnaq7626 i’ve never done it but if you search it on UA-cam there’s a good video showing how to cut them off. And yes, a bunch of hair comes out with it but it doesn’t seem to matter.
hi denise you video was very informative after a couple of expensive mistakes i now only wear winner elite wigs i dont need any security like wig bands or adhesives i just pop it on no faffing about
I have to wear glasses all the time. It there a way to remove the metal stays or alter the ear tabs of my existing wigs to make glasses wearing more comfortable? I believe my glasses would hold the hair sides down. I have thin and still thinning bio hair. So far all the wigs I can afford have tabs. Thank you for sharing this video so I can look for budge friendly wigs without tabs.
Okay, I've been on the bumpy road of trying to decide if it's time for me to commit to wigwearing. I watch videos like these and get very excited about the options out there and feel like I have something to look forward to. I'll research and buy a wig that I think will work, but when I receive the wig, it seems like it has too much hair, or doesn't follow my hairline the way I want them to ( I have a short forehead and a widow's peak). So, I always end up going back to just wearing my hats and trying to be comfortable with my hair loss. The truth is, I'm comfortable to a point, but public situations where I can't wear a hat, and root fibers aren't an option (rain, hot environments= sweat!) make me anxious. Black Friday came along and there were some great deals on different websites where I could afford to purchase some of the lace front light density wigs that I normally couldn't afford. I'm happy to say that I have found a couple that seem like they're going to work. Then I searched the topic of ear tabs because I just felt like they weren't landing in the right spot or I wasn't using them correctly. And "wa- lag"! Here you are. A face that I have come to know and someone I have come to trust. Let me tell you, this video blew my mind! I'm very much like you where I have bio hair on my temples and I tuck my hair all the time. I've also been living in hats for the past 8 years. I haven't purchased a hat wig yet, but this is inspired me to look into that. It also has inspired me to look at the lace fronts that are more customizable and don't have the ear tabs. I have a hairline that never seems to match up with the pre-cut designer lace fronts. I still have some bio hair on my widow's peak and I find it hard to blend this with the lace. (Maybe there's a video out there that helps with that, but I haven't watched it yet :-) ) I also wear prescription glasses, and I love to use sunglasses as an accessory during the summer, so this is perfect! I just adore you and want to thank you for continuing to share and teach us. You truly have a gift!!
All my synthetic wigs have ear tabs and I wear glasses all the time. Most are fine and the legs of my glasses sit under them. I have a couple of wigs where the ear tabs get in the way a bit so I just pinch them upwards which gives enough clearance for my glasses. My biggest annoyance isn't ear tabs but my own bio hair. The hair at my temples comes really far forward, ending maybe 1/2 inch from my eyebrows. I've taken to shaving it off.
Hi Denise, I commented a couple of weeks ago that I just got a wig and it’s still in the box because I couldn’t stand It on me. As I told you I’m not wearing a wig anymore, but I just love watching you. You make me feel so good. However, you hit the nail on the head with this one the --the earpieces on this $700 wig plus plus are in the way of everything - just not in the right place on my head, I hate it. I’d like to cut them off maybe try to fit it on me again. Oh well, I just needed to tell you. that I just love watching you. you’re so thin and beautiful since I started watching you. Keep going my dear you’re doing beautifully.
I feel like an idiot asking this, but can you perhaps do a video, even just a short one, explaining what one is supposed to do with ear tabs?? I keep hearing that you can bend them to conform to your head, but, when I tried that, the metal digging into my temples hurt like the dickens!! I probably did something wrong, but no one ever demonstrates how exactly to bend it (or is "bend" not even the right word? I think you said "press" here)?? It's one of those things that everyone seems to assume people know, but I'm clueless!! Thank you!!
I heard one of the wig reviewers say to kind of put your thumb in and bend it like a C and that seems to work well for me. Maybe you’ve bent it too far? Not really a full C but kind of that shape works for me.
My ear-to-ear dimension is only about 12 in! I have concerns that the ear tabs are going to interfere with my glasses. Are wig salons capable of removing ear tabs since very few wigs come without them?
Hey Denise! I just wanted to say that i've been looking for your wig reviews and have not been seeing them come up in my feed. So I went looking. I have very very thin find hair - mainly a huge amount of hair loss in the middle top part of my hair - but honestly it's so thin everywhere now. I'm fully retired now and living on a fixed income. Here's my problem. I see so many wig reviewers that have huge amounts of wigs. I always wonder how they can possibly accumulate so many because of the cost. I've been drooling over simmer elite for so long - but it is always out of my reach financially. I keep watching the sales and checking the facebook groups - but the sale is just not good enough or someone else purchases the one I want on the facebook groups that buy and sell even though I check daily. Are there any websites/or other groups you could recommend where I might find nice wigs that are affordable (like 100-150.00?) Hope you see this and thank you so much for all you do.
I have a post on my website about wig fit, and toward the bottom I included a list of solutions that wig sisters who struggle with this shared with me... here is a link: heywigsister.com/f/wig-fit-and-how-to-measure-your-head
Hi Denise, I’ve been looking for some support. I am 48 yrs old and been losing my hair gradually in the last 2.5 years. I just ordered my very first wig by Jon Renau Sienna Lite. I am so very excited yet so nervous. I wanted to ask you are if it is better for me to have ordered the the wig without ear tabs so I could blend my bio hair for a more natural look? OR it’s ok that I ordered the smart lace cap with full coverage on the ears ? I’m so confused 🫤
Edit up top: Shazaam! Evidently cutting off ear tabs is a thing. (with caveats). I"m going to try it on one of my almost worn out wigs. ua-cam.com/video/ZVFDceY6JKc/v-deo.html Shoot, Denise... Thanks for this video. This is a struggle for me. After two years, I've finally settled on a Raquel Welch style (straight up with a twist) that works well for me. HOWEVER, the ear tabs are definitely an issue. Try wearing glasses all day - plus behind-the-ear HEARING AIDS. On top of liking to tuck my hair back completely. (I have some bio hair here too like you do, that blends with the color.) I managed to find glasses with super thin arms. That helps. I also thinned the sides as much as possible (seems hair is thicker over the tabs, too). But I want so badly to be able to tuck my hair back completely. I look better with it tucked, and it's a bit cooler as well.
Great information! Ear tabs can be a struggle for people with extremely small heads (like me).

That sounds scary to do. Does a bunch of hair come out?

Thanks for the information. I can relate to the low tabs, tucking hair behind my ears and glasses. I will remove them. Love the red wig on you.

Love your videos. I’ve learned so much from you over the last two years!!
You look great!

Wow, it didn't even occur to me it is the dang eartabs getting in the way of my glasses! I am so getting a lacefront with no ear tabs.
Hello, Denise my problem is finding the right fit head extremely small
Ear tabs also let me know where to position the wig, so I know when it’s on evenly.
😉good details Denise!😊
Thank you Denise. I find all your videos very helpful.

What does "wa-lag" mean, you might ask? That's a very good question. It has no meaning as far as I am aware. I actually was trying to say, "voilà" 😂

Denise you share such usable information - thank you!!❤
My question is about the descriptions “open ear tabs” or “closed ear tabs.” Would you please explain.
Can you link the video on how to cut the 13 inch lace?
How do you get it to stay on securely with no ear tabs and lace frontal?
More Great Advice 😙❤️🩷🧡
Hehehe bow wow... Due you use adhesive at all? Wig caps don't work for me
Thanks Denise ❤ Still trying to negotiate cutting and fear of lace fraying.... Nightmares of it unraveling 😮😅
It's so itchy on my head, I have cut most of my lace off of my wigs. They have never once unraveled.
You can also put a little glue on the ear tab itself, then it won't unravel
On me, the ear tabs don't cover enough, so what can I do? And what root touch up powder do you use?
Hi Denise,
You already helped me a lot talking about ocipital bone!
My wig fits me better and is more comfortable !❤
How do you know if the wig is on straight if you have no ear tabs?
Wow, that look on is is soooo cute!! Question, arent you concerned your hat will blo😢w off or bumped off?
I braid my hair so have no bio hair to be seen. So like if I have no bio hair…so this is a great informative video

I didn’t realize you could do without ear tabs. My one wig I never wear because I can’t stand that part
YESSSSSS I've had to cut a few off
Thanks for the info!
This is so helpful
I didn’t know they made wigs with out ear tabs
Another problem with ear tabs and adding glasses, is if you wear hearing aids, one more thing on top of your ears. Just saying.
Thanks for the video!
Right!
I never knew you could buy with out ear tabs really?
I hate ear tabs, no matter what they hurt my ears
