I just got my very first glueless lacefront wig and it felt so different from the basic caps that I'm used to. It honestly felt like nothing was holding it onto my head. I got some of the wig bands you're using and wow, what a difference! It feels so secure now. Your videos are so helpful to wig newbies like me, thank you!
Little girl who says you can't teach an old woman new tricks LOL I am loving this journey and you just became a new BLESSING to my life. I'm 76 and Blessed after a double mastectomy am cancer FREE praise GOD! that being said I realized I've been wearing my wig grip backwards LOL ya gotta love it and realized I've been putting it on to tight and did the push back test and woopee it didn't move. I have subscribed and look forward to keeping up PLUS i am sending this video to a friend who will be wearing a wig for the first time. God is using you in more ways than you know dear cause you've touched this old woman's heart! yep ya have indeed💜
Thank you so much! I put my first wig on the wrong way earlier this evening, and felt really discouraged. Your detailed and easy instructions and your awesome attitude and personality truly help me feel one hundred times more confident in this process. I appreciate you a lot!!
I’m 71 and although my hair is a lovely color, it is thin and I am growing tired of having to style everyday. Then I put a toque on and …ugh! Lol I just ordered 2 different wigs and am excited to try them when they arrive! Thank you so much for this tutorial 🎉 super helpful You are adorable and fun to watch ( not in a weird way😂)
I have been so curious about the wig generation (but also noticed women who have medical reasons are inspiring with their wigs and tutorials). I've been wanting to try it, but I know nothing about wigs or how to pick, fit, etc. You are SO great at visually teaching and mentioning the 'do-nots' which is how I learn best. Really amazing. Thank you!
I did exactly what you said and now I’m the happiest I’ve been wearing my wig. I didn’t know how to secure my own hair. This video helped me so much! ❤🙏
I just had to come in here and just first and foremost, gosh you’re such a natural gorgeous woman, radiant ❤ I’ve struggling with trichotillomania since 15, I’m now almost 46 😮 My hair is naturally super thick grows long (if I don’t pull it out 😂) I’ve been doing my own extensions for 20 something years and they look amazing, you can’t see them although I put them right on top of my head. But it takes me so so so long, although they last for almost 6 months. I’m getting over it, so I’m going to try and start “wigging” it. Your videos are so helpful, so thank you so much for all your help, god knows I’ll need it.. ❤
I want to thank you... I've had to get a few wigs as I'm suffering with Alopecia. It literally took me a couple of minutes to put wig on. I bought a wig grip ike the one you showed... put it on the right way first time... YAY. All I have to do now is learning how to use the ties in the wig... that'll take practice. I'm not used to my hair being thick so that's going to take practice too. Thanks Steph you're an angel ❤
I’m a 66 year old woman who has been wearing wigs for 50 years. I have alopecia. , have times changed and styles and the construction of the wigs have improved drastically. I love listening to Steph. I could be great passionate buddies. Keep bringing on the videos. I’m enjoying watching them.
Ah. Gosh. Looks so so pretty!!! I recently had a mental break and my anxiety was so bad I just started plucking out my hair until I literally had like a receding hairline and a bald spot. It was too lateby the time I looked into the mirror, and I ended up having to shave my head bald. Still makese choke up and it was almost two weeks ago. All I can afford are cheap like Walmart wigs lol. Single mom of twin three year old girls equals broke and temporarily unemployed!!! Gosh but someday I'm going to get a wig like this one!!! Looks really beautiful on you!!! Love the tutorial! Thank you for sharing! 💕
You are really good at teaching for beginners because you take it step by step and you don't rush. Thank you for doing this and the wig looks really good on you. I have alopecia so the hairline has to look natural. I like low density wigs and want to get one but I am wondering how am going to keep the temple area secure. Can you pull this into a ponytail?
Thanks for taking the time to slowly show how to put the wig physically on. A lot of videos tend to skip past this part, but it's helpful for newbies like me!
Hi Steph, I am 65 and have lovely natural curly hair (red). My hair is fine like yours and just flattens out with hats and headbands in the winter. Anyhoo, I have ordered two different hairpieces and one wig. I am hoping that I love them when they come. I am trying to find pieces that are similar to my hair!! So hard to find the color. First I really appreciate your tutoring and info. Secondly, it's really inspiring how natural you look in your wigs, and how much you enjoy them on a daily basis. I feel as though I am just dipping my toe in the water. I hope the water is warm. You seem to be enjoying yourself. Thanks for your lovely sharing. Heather
@Wigs with Steph......THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for your wig tutorial !!! You have NO idea how much your wig tutorial has helped me. I have two brand new wigs. (Ignite & Cory) I am NEW to the world of wigs & today was the very FIRST day I have worn one, just around the house, but tomorrow, I now have the confidence to wear it in public. thanks to listening & learning from you & to you. I would love to cut "bangs" on my "Ignite", but I just KNOW I would mess it up, so, I will wait. But I NEED to have "bangs" & have ALWAYS worn them, which is why I bought "Cory". Anyway, many, MANY THANKS for this FANTASTIC tutorial.
YAY! I'm SO SO glad this was helpful to you!!!! I also made a video on how to cut bangs (how I cut bangs on my wig, Nice Move by RW). I'll link it incase it's helpful to you 🥰 ua-cam.com/video/jjbE3L42pa0/v-deo.html
You’re amazing Steph. Recently discovered your channel and your videos are so clear, helpful and great to watch. Bless you for helping all of us out here new to wigs.
Thakyou so much for your video on wig grips. I am so glad to learn proper way to place wig grip. Did not know it had to feel rough going back. First time I heard of that. Your video is very helpful for a first time wig wearer!!😊
Thank you for the videos it encourages us newbies and I also love date your videos are not super long. Some videos are so long that by the time they get to the point I am gone to the next. So thank you please keep them coming 😊
I like your natural auburn hair color on yuh. It contrasts your face, and brings out your eyes. Curl it! I love seeing short hair with curls at the end. Thanks! I cannot wait to find a cute wig.
Hi Steph, really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. Seeing as you’ve experienced both wigs what would be your favourite for everyday wear.. JR Zara lite or RW Mesmerised. Looking forward to more awesome vids from you. 😊❤
Hey!! ❤️ I’ve been really enjoying both of them so much. They are very different though, so depends what you prefer/ what head size you have. Mesmerized is heat friendly, Zara Lite is not. Mesmerized is a smaller cap, Zara Lite is larger. Mesmerized has an undetectable lace front (more highlights at the hairline), whereas Zara Lite has a few dark knots at the front (not as much highlights brought to the front) ❤️
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I’m a newbie and I’m still trying to figure everything out and get my confidence up to wear my wig out (I have thinning hair but love wigs for the different looks they give us). My question is what kind of coconut oil do you use and how do I use it…on damp/wet hair under my wig or on dry hair? Thanks so much for all your help!!
Thank you SOOOO MUCH for going into detail. I'm new to wigs, and have spent SOOOO much $$ and when they arrive it looks fake and I'm disappointed and put it in the drawer along with 30+other ones. Sadly I've never worn one because of all that you mentioned. I would die if a gush of wind caused it to fall off. It seems many of the ones I own are either too tight or too loose but after this video I'm feeling more comfortable. Btw I just subscribed😊
Where do you buy your wigs? I’m in Miami FL; thank you for your educational videos, I enjoyed them as much as I’m learning from you. Many blessings! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Im so nervous to start using wigs but I want to so bad. Ive spent 2yrs trying to make my thin hair happy and, while healthy, its still thin with a big BIG part. So, I'm giving wigs a go! So nervous 😢
I watchend your video out of curiosity, I fortunately don´t need a wig. You did an excellent Video, it has brought light on a subject I always wondered about .Your presentation was so easy to follow. Thankyou
Great Vid!! Btw - thou u were being serious in demonstrating the wig Not falling off test, U look so funny 😊 moving n flipping head banging rock on when u demonstrated the wig is not moving test Lol. Not making fun or critical towards u I just wanted to say It was cute you made me smile for the Day!! Iam trying my 1st wig this week!!
Hi Steph, question... how do find realistic wings that aren't so shiny that they look like they have sat in a chlorinated pool? I will have to start wearing one very soon and just want the most natural and low density where I won't have questions asking if I am wearing a wig? love watching your video's SO HELPFUL ❣❣❣
How do you handle the marks left at the front of your hairline after wearing the band? My hair seems to be permanently laying back on the front and sides?
How do you hide the lace front. I have a beautiful wig and it looks and fits great on my head but you can definitely see the lace front. It's precut lace and it's cut pretty close to the hairline but I can still see it. What can I do to fix that?
I oh so badly want to start wearing wigs for fun. Only problem is that I'm absolutely terrified of traction alopecia caused by wig caps/grips. :( I haven't even worn a standard ponytail in 13 years due to this fear lol
I love watching your videos! I would like to ask you where you buy your wigs. Wigs can be so expensive. I would like to ask you a few more questions. Can you please tell me how to contact you.❤
@@janetamdur1631 Thank you so much for watching my videos! 😊 The best way to contact me is by leaving a comment here on UA-cam-I see all my comments and dedicate a lot of time to my UA-cam channel! It really depends on what type of wig you're looking for-synthetic or human hair? I definitely have my favorite sites, which I showcase in my wig reviews, so feel free to check those out! Hey! Actually I've never found the need to use "it stays", but I have heard good things about it. Unfortunately because I don't have an experience with it yet, I don't want to give an opinion of it. Thanks for mentioning it though!!!! I am eager to try it out now :D
Not at all =) If your hair is dry like mine, your hair will likely soak of most of it anyways. I can tell you that I've been doing it this way for years and I've never had a smelly, oily wig. Ever! (Even when it comes time to wash my wig, it's NEVER because of a smelly or oily cap.. it's because the fibers need to be cleaned and refreshed. But it's never to do with the cap). And of course the coconut oil step might not be for everyone. But if I didn't mention it in this video (when I really do this every time), then I'd feel like I missed telling you all about a very important step in my routine to care for my hair 🥹 Also, if your hair doesn't like coconut oil, or you don't like it, you definitely don't have to use it. I just really love it.
@@WigsWithSteph THANK YOU so much for your lengthy reply- its so nice of you to explain all that. Very encouraging to hear that the oil doesn't affect the wigs (I love it and it smells nice but I must say I was surprised to see your method, but very happy and will try it now)! Thanks so much!!! :)
Hii 🤗❤️ no, I don’t use any spray- I just go in with heat tools on my heat friendly synthetics. BUT occasionally when I feel like my wig needs it, I’ll use a silicone spray on my synthetic to bring some of that luster / shine back 🤗
I have the lace front easy does it wig, by Raquel Welsh. Having an issue with the lace front not laying flat, what can I be doing wrong? Should the cat be tighter or looser?
First, try tightening up the wig at the nap of the neck. It might gap if it's too loose. If that doesn't work just run a little bit of It Stays (A type of wig glue) along your skin where the lace is gapping, then put your wig on and hold it down with your finger for a minute or two. NEVER pull on the lace. Adjust your wig using the ear tabs only.
I am new to wigs, have very simiilar petite dimensions as you, and do NOT want to wear a wig cap, so am trying your strategy of tiny hairband, skinny pony/bun in back as you show... but want to confirm which wig grip you now recommend for a well fitting wig (focusing on ellen willies petite/average) and with ear tabs, mostly open wefts) .. You listed the Milano COLLECTION No-Slip Wig Grip Band Original WiGrip Comfort Band for Women in another video, and here, the Dreamlover Wig Grip for female, Wig Grip Bands ... which of the two would you recommend for someone using your setup of pony/bun in back, with with grip ONLY, to keep it most securely on head as possible? Also, does it matter which color wig grip? And will this method harm my hair line? The wig caps, netted or nylon, ALL seemed to pull on my hair line and felt too tight, even with my tiny head... Thanks for your thoughts and I love your videos!
I prefer my Milano wig grip more: amzn.to/3SiLbsL For the color of wig grip, I always think tan is best so that it mimics a head underneath. Too light of a band may make too much of a contrast between the band and your own hair (and if you’re not wearing a cap then it might be showing your own hair- if that’s a concern for you.) the Milano wig grip comes in tan, and it’s perfect for me. I don’t have any issues with the wig grip pulling on my hair at all. As long as your careful and mindful with how you wear your wigs, wigs can be a positive thing for your own hair and actually be protective, helping your hair to grow
Hello! :) Yes, you can use coconut oil whether you’re wearing a wig cap or a wig grip (or neither!) Yes, it’s normal to see the wig grip and it’s especially noticeable on me when I don’t wear a wig cap under the wig grip (because when I wear both, it’s the same color all the way around my head so there’s no difference in color). But because my hair is dark underneath, sometimes you can see where my wig grip ends (under the cap) and where my hair begins. I find people never notice this on me in person though because I’m taller and nobody can really see the top of my head. I always just wear my wigs like this and don’t worry about it and nobody ever knows. If I was a shorter person, then I think I’d wear a wig cap too to make sure it’s all one color to minimize the chances of someone noticing :) Hope this makes sense!
My problem is the back likes to slide up because i have a small or weird shaped head lol. If i tighten the adjusters too much it slides worse so i try to keep it looser but it still likes to slide. Tips? I have simmer regular i wish they made petite... I'm about to order wig grips it may help it stay better or fill it out a bit
I have a weird head too, I guess! Sew two snap clips (one on each side) on the back of the wig (at the nape of the neck). I buy them online or at hair stylist shops. I sew them with a circular needle and thread the color of the wig cap. I make sure not to poke my finger while sewing. 😵 When they're on the wig firmly, put on your wig. To snap the clips: I "grab" hair with each clip before snapping it shut, and "test it," move it around a tiny bit to see if it's going to hurt me or not. If it is, I re-grab hair until I find the perfect amount of hair that won't bother me, then I snap shut. Same with the other. That holds the wig down for me superbly!
Nope, it doesn't seem to get greasy. My hair also soaks up a lot of the oil before I put the wig on because it's super dry. And it's most important to me that my hair underneath doesn't break from rubbing against the wig cap that I wear for hours all day and the oil helps with that. Wig caps can strip your own natural hair oils, so that's why I recommend to moisturize your own hair before putting on a cap. I've never had an issue with a cap getting oily, but of course if you're concerned, you definitely don't have to put any oil on your own hair. This is just what I do, and I like it =) Hope this helps. =)
If you have a wig that matches you real hair color, and you have very little thin hair, can a person keep her hair cut just a touch shorter than the wig and just leave you hair down and put the wig on over it?
When that happens to me, it’s usually on one of my “lite” wigs (by Jon Renau), in which case I usually push the wig grip back a bit (means it’s too close to the hairline) and then I do a quick tuck of the ear tabs bottom hairs behind my ears. That usually does the trick for me 💁🏼♀️
No, you don’t need to use glue at all. It is not my hair that keeps the wig on. If you have a glueless wig (a wig that has ear tabs & stays in the ear tabs) and a wig grip, your wig will absolutely stay on 🤗
Only if you pull the hair back to expose them. Some ear tabs have wig hair right on them especially on short haircut wigs where hair naturally would be. If the lace is ear to ear, it looks most natural.
There definitely is! But always remember that you do get what you pay for. If someone has spent more time making it, it will be better quality and the cost will be higher. If it didn’t take much time, is wefted (made by a machine), hairline quickly thrown together, you can find a pretty cheap wig like that. All price ranges exist. I like to show what I wear because they tend to look the most natural, but definitely there are others that exists for cheaper; it just won’t be of the same quality, if that makes sense.
Hiii! These types of wigs don’t have a specific name, because it’s just the cap construction that make them able to be worn glueless. That’s why I call them “glueless wigs”. This cap construction (the glueless) are my favourite and I’ve done a ton of reviews on this type from all different brands if you’d like to check out my playlists of wig reviews 🤗💕 hopefully this helps xo
Nope it doesn't. I don't put it on the cap. It's going on my hair, which soaks it up. My hair is very dry. It is very common to tame your hair back before applying a wig. And if you're concerned, you can always wear a wig cap underneath as a barrier between the two. I am also wearing a wig grip which for the most part, keeps the knots from sitting directly on my hair. Also, depends on the cap!!! I wear a ton of Mono tops too, which again, keeps the knots off my head. With lace, yes, you can take extra precaution, but this is the way I do it, all I can do is tell the truth, and it's been working perfectly for me for years. I've never EVER had an issue with knots. You are free to do whatever you're comfortable with!

FYI, you are so stunning - with and without the wig.
Love your honesty
How do you handle the marks left at the front of your hairline after wearing the band? My hair seems to be permanently laying back on the front and sides?
Wow looks really good on u 👍
Do you need a wig grip with a lace or clear part to make sure it won’t show when you part your hair ?
What company do you order your wigs? and what is the name of the band that holds the wig in place? Thank you so much.
Gorgious with and w/o a wig ..U R A BEAUTY ❤
Do the wig bands ever cause headaches?
I haven't seen a wig with ear tabs in eons. A lot of companies advertise as "glueless" but cut this import detail
very helpful! Happy I found your channel.
Wow. Thank you. 🤎🖤🎃🫶
Hello and thanks for your video. If you bend over at the waist and it show the back of your neck, can you tell it's a wig?
How do you hide the lace front. I have a beautiful wig and it looks and fits great on my head but you can definitely see the lace front. It's precut lace and it's cut pretty close to the hairline but I can still see it. What can I do to fix that?
Excellent video! Thank you:)
I oh so badly want to start wearing wigs for fun. Only problem is that I'm absolutely terrified of traction alopecia caused by wig caps/grips. :( I haven't even worn a standard ponytail in 13 years due to this fear lol
Excellent
Great tutorial
Thank you 🙋♀️👏👍
Very helpful thank you so much. I have a Henry Margu wig, but not sure how to wash it. Please could you advise me? X
Hello! ❤️ I’ve made a video on how I wash all of my synthetic wigs here: ua-cam.com/video/HF81wG5LT2g/v-deo.htmlsi=rAQLxJXGJiXzri0B
Thank you. VERY Helpful!
My wigs are too small for my head.
Any tricks to this problem
Great tutorial. Do you ever use the product " it stays "? Thank you
Hey! Actually I've never found the need to use "it stays", but I have heard good things about it. Unfortunately because I don't have an experience with it yet, I don't want to give an opinion of it. Thanks for mentioning it though!!!! I am eager to try it out now :D
Steph, does the coconut oil transfer to the wig? My bio hair is like yours.
Loved your thorough explanation. But Im interested to know if the coconut oil makes the wig inside smelly and oily??
Una differensa impressionante una bellezza inarrivabile per noi ma sembra tutto vero complimenti
Do you use heat defence spray when putting heat on it? Great video, 😊
@@nancyruckman5875 thanks for the reply, I will give it a 😊
Thanks for this review.
Good teacher ~ thanks ❤
I prefer my Milano wig grip more: amzn.to/3SiLbsL
For the color of wig grip, I always think tan is best so that it mimics a head underneath.
Are there any wig grips that are really narrow? I have a very petite size head and I'm afraid the regular size grip would just slide off
Hello, like your videos, I see the wig grip some, is that normal..I have the beige like you, can I put coconut oil if I use a wig cap also? TY
Hello! :)
Yes, you can use coconut oil whether you’re wearing a wig cap or a wig grip (or neither!)
Yes, it’s normal to see the wig grip and it’s especially noticeable on me when I don’t wear a wig cap under the wig grip (because when I wear both, it’s the same color all the way around my head so there’s no difference in color). If I was a shorter person, then I think I’d wear a wig cap too to make sure it’s all one color to minimize the chances of someone noticing :)
Hope this makes sense!
@@WigsWithSteph Thank you for the quick response and support!
I can not use any kind of rubber band. My hair is so fine and thin, what do I use in place of them?
When they're on the wig firmly, put on your wig.
Thank you for your video's .
You’re so welcome ❤️ thank you for the comment! Xo
New here can I ask why you wear wigs when you haave hair and a decent amount it looks like? Just for fun I guess?
@@sarahmilner8483 this is why I wear wigs: ua-cam.com/video/i6M3pH6nA08/v-deo.htmlsi=lFw_U8kA05icW-jk
@WigsWithSteph thanks so much , love the channel xx
i got wigs that have clips elastic band innthe back no idea or instructions on how to do it im so mad
Don’t you ever get headaches after consistently wearing them for days? Cos I do. What seems to be wrong?
I wish I could find a wig place near me with a wig like that. I'm too old
so what happens with the lace that shows?
Does the wig cap not get oily from the coconut oil?
Nope, it doesn't seem to get greasy. My hair also soaks up a lot of the oil before I put the wig on because it's super dry. And it's most important to me that my hair underneath doesn't break from rubbing against the wig cap that I wear for hours all day and the oil helps with that. Wig caps can strip your own natural hair oils, so that's why I recommend to moisturize your own hair before putting on a cap. I've never had an issue with a cap getting oily, but of course if you're concerned, you definitely don't have to put any oil on your own hair. This is just what I do, and I like it =)
Hope this helps. =)
😊
If you have a wig that matches you real hair color, and you have very little thin hair, can a person keep her hair cut just a touch shorter than the wig and just leave you hair down and put the wig on over it?
So your own hair is the underneath hair....
No wonder that wig is so nice. it cost $608.99 - $656.99. for a synthetic wig. whoa
Thank you
So smooth side up?
THANK YOU
How do you fix when the lace pops up a bit? With the wig grip I can’t get the lace to lay flat.
When that happens to me, it’s usually on one of my “lite” wigs (by Jon Renau), in which case I usually push the wig grip back a bit (means it’s too close to the hairline) and then I do a quick tuck of the ear tabs bottom hairs behind my ears. That usually does the trick for me 💁🏼♀️
Wig grips rule
I am bold, do I have to use glue?
No, you don’t need to use glue at all. It is not my hair that keeps the wig on. If you have a glueless wig (a wig that has ear tabs & stays in the ear tabs) and a wig grip, your wig will absolutely stay on 🤗
It seems like I could see the ear tabs on the sides of your head is this normal?
@@charlenebovert1253 it is a brand new wig and I hadn’t cut the lace yet. If I had, there would be nothing to see 🤗
@@WigsWithSteph Thank you now that makes sense.
Are the ear tabs visible ?
Only if you pull the hair back to expose them. Some ear tabs have wig hair right on them especially on short haircut wigs where hair naturally would be. If the lace is ear to ear, it looks most natural.
Are there glueless wigs that are a lot more affordable?
There definitely is! But always remember that you do get what you pay for. If someone has spent more time making it, it will be better quality and the cost will be higher. If it didn’t take much time, is wefted (made by a machine), hairline quickly thrown together, you can find a pretty cheap wig like that. All price ranges exist. I like to show what I wear because they tend to look the most natural, but definitely there are others that exists for cheaper; it just won’t be of the same quality, if that makes sense.
@@WigsWithSteph A lot of us could never buy one for the higher prices.
What are these types of wigs called?!
Whoa! No coconut oil! It loosens the knots on the lace!!!!
