Those front pads (BR-1414) have been "superseded" by BR-2087 / AU2Z-2V001-F. The replacements do not have the ears/tabs on the back / inside pads. Same with the BRSD-1414 (Severe Duty) replacements, the BRSD-2087. Have you seen that? Are there any issues with using those pads on the inside, up against the caliper pistons?
Nice work. I did this for my 96 Explorer a few weeks ago. Same exact style 2 piston caliper and pins. Only a 17? My pins are always smooth. Good idea with the locktite on the bracket bolts - if those aren't torqued (or even if they are) they can get loose! The explorer is 140 on those caliper bolts too. I got the Grey Ford Rotors. Hope they don't rust in a few winters! I also got Motorcraft "Superduty" pads. Very impressive! There were a few bucks more. Maybe you can upsell them . I think from Rockauto all the front parts were under $150 shipped. I like painting the hub faces and under the hardware with antisize. My brakes failed because rust under the bracket hardware (same setup) locked the pads. Don't know if it helps though after a winter or two. Since its DIY I also did a scan tool abs bleed. I'm sure that would cost a few bucks at a dealer. Very professional work there!
Yeah these are like 140-150 as well my little gun doesn't put out any more than that so I'm right on the money every time so that's why I use this gun as long as people get them tight and make sure they're tight and put a little Loctite on it they are not going to come out of there
@fordbossme Hello rich, I understand it’s an old video but wanted to ask just in case, I was wondering what your recommendations are for brands of brake pad and rotors. I have a 18 f150 and was between oem or powerstop. Much appreciated in advance!
I don't work for the dealer anymore I don't really remember I'm in the shop right now working with the text today let me see if I can go back up front and look I don't just tighten the damn bolts LOL
Caliper slide pin bolts are 27 ft lb and the caliper anchor bracket Bolt says 184 ft lb but I don't never do that I just tighten them up really tight put some blue Loctite
Quick question… it seems that I read somewhere that my 2017 F150 front brake calipers require the opening of a bleeder valve before compressing. I cannot find anyone that actually covers this step. Is this something that you are familiar with or that I should worry about?
Nope that is not true that was an old wives tale that was brought up back in the day and then it was like Toyota back in 1988 or 1990 had a problem with releasing the Pistons so they recommended people crack the bleeders to release them but there has been no manufacturer since then it says to do that so no you do not need to crack the bleeders do it exactly like I do in my videos
You also need to “burp the boots” and get all the air out of the caliper pin boots by pushing on the pin and compressing the boot and then while holding it there, use a small screwdriver to crack open one end the boot to expel the air out. If you don’t the outside pad could drag on the rotor wearing it down prematurely.
you guys do these videos you have the camera zoomed in way too far, its nice to be able to see WTF without my eyes going wonky and getting nauseous, cuz you are zoomed in way too far, if you need to show a close up there are other ways, your editing software has zoom, or you can simply point to it with a screwdriver or move the camera in closer... you need to have more world in your frame if you want comfortable footage, not a panoramic or anything but about 50% more, so we can see pretty much the entire well, there are things we can do on our end to zoom in or increase resolution or whatever.. only about 30% of the world can tolerate zoom, if that
Sounds to me like you got a whole paragraph of complaining here and your problem is not my problem I'm the one that got the brake job done and everybody else in the comment section really did understand exactly what was going on other than you so maybe if you want to apologize and come back and ask me for specific help I can do that but until then have the day you deserve

Whoever picked the shop music nailed it
Thanks Rich , a lot of dyi people ( like myself ) do not do the slide pins . Thanks for showing how easy and important it is to do this !…..

My 2017 f150 doesn’t have electronic park brake, has the 6 speed trans too!
So you dont have to bleed the air out the lines?

@@FordBossMe Used to be on a forum and alot of DIYers ended up with broken wheels over those bolts . I'm sure some "pros" make the mistake too.
Never had a come back never had an issue thankfully
Thank you
Genuine Motorcraft parts are the start of a quality job!

Go oem if you want longevity.
Thank you sir
what was the cost of this job?
Great video and step by step instructions, what's the torque spec for the caliper and caliper carrier bolts?

@@FordBossMe Thx!
Do you not have to take the brake fluid cover off for the fluid to be able to go up when you push pistons back in?
No
You can do it either way

No you don't need to burp the boots. That's Biden talk.
The boots burp when the pins fully compress
Can u reuse the caliper mount bolts or are u supposed to replace them?
You can reuse them
Thank u for the vid and the reply ! VERY GOOD at what you do!
Can those brakes calibers fit an 1997 f150?
Idk
I must have missed you removing the Rotors
Just take a 10lb sledge hammer on the inside and 20 minutes it'll be off, may need a new wheel bearing. Way to go Ford!
Great job. IF you need any Junky screwdrivers, I got plenty I broke off over my 70 years. Wanna buy one?
Is there any computer shit that needs done if you got electronic parking brake?
There is and I have that displayed in my library if you just look or you can type in the Google search for Boss electronic parking brake
Thank you!
@@FordBossMe wait, maintenance mode is only required when servicing rear brakes, correct?
Where do you buy motocraft parts ?
Rock auto or ebay or Amazon Actually
if you know the part number there are to many places that may be an option
