I work at a school on the admin side. It's totally common for teachers to go by their maiden names on campus despite having their spouses last name legally.
I had a friend at work and we were in a work club together president and VP. We got along really well and I hated it when people called him my work husband. He was married, I was single but it felt icky. I don’t get why people say it. Sets a perception issue too.
