Travis Kennedy has a lot of great stories to tell; he has 3 deployments with the Navy SEALS, two to Afghanistan and one to Columbia, and is a cop in southern California.
Travis walks through what it was like to be a SEAL, from enlisting and BUDS training, to deploying in one of the most dangerous places in the world. Kennedy then talks about how he transitioned out, became a true entrepreneur, starting Kennedy Defensive Solutions, and finally how he became an orange county cop. Hope you enjoy it!

This is going to be incredible. 🇺🇸
So Travis finally got in with a dept?
You and Mike got me hooked on the podcasts. Great job and it’s been awesome to see your platforms take off. Happy Holidays and Let’s Go Brandon 🇺🇸
there needs to be a trifecta podcast with shawn ryan, kennedy, and ritland...great episode. thank ya'll for what you've done and continue to do. this content is so needed during these times especially. refreshing!
Not as good as yours bro but yeah it will be good
Send It !!!
It was an honor to be on the show, I had blast talking shop with Mike.
TEAMS
Travis, welcome to the family of the thin blue line! Been doing it 14 years now since I got out of the military. There are good days and bad days, but keep your head high and stay safe brother!
Hey Travis, also if you haven't already, go ahead and get some insurance like PBA or FOP. I think PBA is one of the better ones. We have new laws being passed holding cops accountable and we should be but it's so easy to get sued for making a split second decision they may not look so good until all the facts come in. Just protect yourself bro because no one else will!
Travis, first off, thanks for your service and thanks to your family. Advice coming from a retired NYPD cop....stay on the night shift buddy. I did either 1600x2335 when i was in the bag (uniform) then 1735x0205 when i went plain clothes. Less supervision and waaaaaaaaay less jerkoff co-workers to deal with. Nigh shift cops aren't afraid to get busy. If nothing jumps off then you go out for a couple of beers thanks again
@@Bushanie24 lol!
Travis Kennedy 4 PRESIDENT
Travis is a solid guy with a firm grasp on living with honor. Love his interest in law enforcement... the LEO world needs people like him.
I retired from your department almost 8 years ago. After listening to your answers on policing you were definitely trained well. Welcome to the brotherhood and stay safe!
Ritland is a great interviewer. He gets what us regular guys would ask or find interesting.
Travis is amazing.
Travis will be an Excellent Police Officer. His demeanor is so calm, he has leadership ability and he’s obviously a man of character and integrity. 👍🏻
GC bro high vgcvojj

Travis is one of the coolest guests. Humble, down to earth, and sharp!
Great podcast. So cool to hear the transition Travis took to go from being a SEAL to OC law enforcement. Living in a beach city in Southern California I see first hand every day what he experiences on the job. Homeless, drugs, gangs, vandalism, all increasing out here. And, the domestic violence laws are horrible out here and law enforcement doesn't have a choice on this but has to write a ticket for drugs or watch another guy they arrest get out of jail before their shift is even over. Another great podcast. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Travis when I'm in his AO.
It’s great to see somebody from that life transition to law enforcement.
Yes
Jesus.. 33yrs old and what he’s accomplished already.
Unreal, massive respect.
Thank you both for your brave service. Travis, take care out there and watch your six. God bless.
Travis Kennedy is clearly an exceptional human being, and likely a fantastic policeman. Genuine, tough, honest, empathetic. Great interview.
Mike-such a thorough and engaging interview style. You can tell the guests genuinely enjoy and are comfortable sharing/telling great stories. Thank you.
Wow. He's really one of the best of the best. I bet everyone on the force appreciates him.
Great interview Big Mike, like always!!
Great pod, keep up the great work Mike & TY both for your service! LGB 🦅
Mike, your comment on the bureau at 1:56:05 is spot on. Good job keeping things real for your audience. Former military, joined as a SA over a decade ago--the organization relies on its public image but once you get it in, its inept, poorly led, and hyper political to where real work doesn't get done. Our local PDs tend to be way ahead in experience and commitment.
The best SA’s are former street cops from my experience working with FBI, DEA, and ATF. Kudos to you for putting up with the BS, operating with one hand and a leg tied behind your back.
I could listen to these stories all day. Mike has a great voice for broadcast.
Loved this. Big fan of Travis and did a few of his online courses after I saw him on SRS. Good interview Mike!
recommendations on which online courses? thanks
I can't wait for this one, Travis Kennedy is badass!
Great Video! Loved watching it!
Mike, Shawn Ryan, and Andy stumph are just absolute units and the goat podcasts
Great interview as usual. How lucky that city is to have Travis Kennedy in law enforcement.
Travis is the real deal. Love his mindset and devotion to training others.
Thanks Mike.
Travis, come to Texas DPS. One of the top agencies anywhere, outstanding pay, and oh, did I mention, it’s in Texas. We’ll take you with open arms.
Another cracking podcast Mike bz
I was with ST3 at FOB Lane. That turn over op was tough to swallow. Glad to hear those guys immediately got after it.
That’s awesome I didn’t know TK was a cop🇺🇸👍🏻
From a former deputy in MS, you def have my ideology of policing. You want to learn and actually be a cop, night shift is where it’s at. Amazing job with some amazing g people but that’s a different world. Stay safe brother and utmost love and respect for you and your dedication to this country.
100 percent. Night shift is where it's at.
Such a cool dude!!! Amazing interview! Such a good human!
This country needs more cops like this man
12 years on night shift in Houston, Tx. Nights is where its at dealing with the real crooks!
Another great interview Mike! I really like Travis - a squared away young man, he'd be the type of son a father would be extremely proud of. I've seen his interview w/Shawn & now yours & they were entirely different and both enjoyable. Thanks again Mike, look fwd to your next one.
Mike, I rarely comment, but Travis needs your platform to reach more citizens about real life police work. And I also thank him, and you, for his (and your) service to our nation. Someone has GOT to get the brainwashed young people to learn that the cops are necessary, and are citizen's friends. Thank you both.
Big fan of Travis. He needs more public light and time. Thanks for making this possible Mike 👌
Love listening to both of these guys!
Watched DJ Shipley’s story last night and Holy FUUUUUUUUUCK!
That is a fucking warriors warrior, they all are but Damn!
Keep this stuff coming!
Teams!
I saw it to on VA. Good story
Why say teams when you were in the teams?
Same here brother watched it yesterday myself, you damn right that was one crazy life story..
DJ is a warrior but a peice of shit human being.
"What was your favorite time you almost died?" lmao
Love this podcast. Love how Mike absolutely loves dogs more than humans and it shows in this one lol
That’s my buddy Mike !! Good shit great interview!!
Travis is the best!
Another great one
Really looking forward to this one. TEAMS 🔱
I’m just like Travis with breakfast, I stay with my eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Everyday. American breakfast for an American man. Although some days I’ll admit, I might get a little frisky and throw some jam or jelly on that toast.
Yes
As a retired Bureau of Prison guy, spending a few decades in the system, you are spot on the revolving door and lack of rehabilitation points. I have seen so many individuals come and go and come back again stating prisons isn't bad. It is a breeding ground and university for criminals.
@Metal Justice in Iraq, circa 2003-2005, detainees called the prisons run by the American military Jihad University.
@@ObamaFromKenya Totally believe this to be true. Having sat on many of these terrorist, their fervor was real and so deeply ingrained. Eye opening
Best to keep them in jail.
I started police work at 29, after the Army,, and I worked "the yard" for 8 years... days or swings will start looking REALLY GOOD around year 5 or 6! 😉
Mike you do a great job hosting podcasts,
Nice interview. I am a fan of the show and of Travis. Courageous man/ men. God look over both of you. I have nothing but respect for everything you’ve both lived through.
Real men, real Professionals. 🇺🇸
Great show Mike
Hey Mike, good show sir. Thanks for all you do for our warrior dogs. Listening in on all your shows from a military perspective is always very interesting and entertaining. This one was especially fun as a retired LEO myself. It will be interesting to see what Travis does in the future. Personally...if anyone gives a shit what I think, police work is good but gets stagnate, repetitive and boring at times, tough for a highly driven and accomplished guy to remain interested. For me having a family, needing the best medical insurance, retirement bennies etc. I stuck with it. Good luck Travis, I hope you have a great and rewarding career. Keep moving, keep it interesting, before you know it you'll be 56 and wonder where time went.
Travis "The GOAT" Kennedy
Amped about this interview. I saw Travis on Vigilance Elite last year and wondered what he has been doing👍🏻
Great to see this guy finally get sworn in as LEO. Tremendous asset to the community.
Hell yes!
its the silent pauses at times for me...chilling
Orange County sure is Lucky to have Travis as Police Officer with all Special Training he's had in, Seals Teams.
I was just an infantry goon but we were in the Arghandab at the same time around 2010
I have a question as a “Non Serving” person in any line of military, and that’s just because my health issues are severe and I would have been a detriment to the mission and I know that’s not what they look for in a “Soldier”! But all that said I have family members that have been and are still active, and that’s a huge reason why I’ve gotten into these kinds of content! That along with like “Vigilant Elite” and then a lot of others that are awesome! I have so much respect for you all that are fighting for our freedom! You both are awesome! I would literally talk to you two, for hours just to get a feel for how life was in an overall and hear the stories you tell occasionally and that would be awesome!
Cant wait to listen to this one. Just have to get done with Shawns interview with DJ first!
When I was in boot camp at Paris Island I always wondered why they would make us yell out “I’m up, they see me, I’m down.” at lights out before we hit the rack at night. I found out later at School of Infantry why that is. Immediate action drills when it pertains to contact. They always said everything they do in boot camp they did for a reason. I got it looking back after SOI and when I screened for MARSOC.
Great episode, guys.
I appreciate y’all.
Congratulations on the new job.
I’m in Orange County too. Hoping I get to see Travis out and about one day 🤙🏼🤙🏼
The podcast looks great and sounds great 👍 nice stuff
Very happy for you! was kind of bumbed out when you tried to get into other law enformcment and no luck.
The city he works in now can be pretty intense. My dad worked a neighboring city and my best friends dad worked the same one as kennedy.
Mike really nails down the problems with our society.
Awesome Mike, just FYI so is the book !
All you parents raising boys pay close attention, Travis is the Gold standard.
Big Mike, let’s go. Looking forward to this.
In a time of war, it’s always good to be able absorb the experience of these dudes. INVALUABLE
You have one of the best podcast"s out there and what a great guest Travis Kennedy kick's ass
Black Friday was just full of aggravating worthless nonsense…until I just got this notification! Catch ya’ll in the AM.
Great stuff Mike!!!! Excellent episode, per usual, and Travis has one hell of a story!!! Thank the both of you for all of your service! Keep the awesome content coming and keep up the great work sir!!!
That was a great interview. I love the lightning round in the beginning.
YESSS. Have been waiting for this one. Amazing Episode
Travis if you help change one kids direction it will be well worth it. Stay safe brother! Teams
Man with everything that is going on in our country and all the negativity these days, I got to say it’s very relieving knowing that we have exceptional men such as these that have our backs. Thank you both for your service, and may history remember your names and what you fought for.
MIKEY BIG BALLS IS BACK !
I too, am a cop and Mr. Kennedy is spot on about working nights and the difference. I have been working the streets for years and I would have loved to share some stores with Mike and some statistics as well. Being a cop is much different then what people think. Great interview and interview guest !
2:29 lop Travis describing Santa Ana
I grew up on Tustin street and would go past Chapman college going to the circle all the time haha.
Love the book sitting next to him there lol
Thank you both for your service. Much Respect
Thank you gentlemen! Shared.
First time here, fucking fantastic intro brother!
Great 👍 show as always. Thank you
nice! let's go Travis
Maboohay.. that’s best spelling I can remember from banner! Have a good day ,Sir
I find it baffling that the FBI would decline to hire former SEALS. But I've definitely heard of it happening. All police academies are super easy these days. The only academy that will bring a challenge is the State Trooper academies. Much respect to all of you operators past and present. Continued success
Respect All Fear None 💯
Often times military get law enforcement jobs just because they were former military. It doesn't matter what they did in the military a Navy cook will be hired before anyone with a masters degree even if that masters degree is in public administration with an emphasis on police administration and the college student was a D1 athlete. So I would not feel too sorry for him that he didn't get into the FBI.
FBI is so damn corrupt, look at all the FBI agents that have been attacking the Ranchers in Nevada a couple years ago and generating false documents to spy on out president Trump and recently arresting parents who protest against critical race theory in our schools. So the FBI agency is the last place for an American loving Patriot who puts America and its citizens first. FBI protects Biden, Pelosi, the leftist communist agenda and the the child tracking pedophiles.
The State Police Academies aren't much better.
@@Ry-di5gs Correct, fuck the FEDS!
They (politicians) fear liability. Liability of a LEO with combat experience. As Travis said - gift of the gab is the key to controlling these situations. Tough job as your sitting on both sides of the fence. As Mike said - he would be very "disciplined" if he were to ever be arrested for something he never did. To be honest, I have nothing against tattoos - it's personal thing. However, I would not doubt it that his agency would make him wear a sleeve over them when on duty. Just like going to court to testing - you want to wear your suit and tie.
Mike you should try to get Jonathan Ballen aka Mr Ballen on your show. Former Navy SEAL and now has millions of followers on UA-cam and social media telling scary fucked up stories. He would be really interesting.
Oh hell yeah!!! That would be a badass show..
Bread pod as usual. It would be really cool if you could get Marcinko on the pod. With the books he has sold the influence on the teams it would be really interesting to hear him.
Great interview
Great episode!
Great podcast! Thanks Mike and Travis! ✌️
In Sunnyvale ca police and firefighters alternate they do both jobs
Facts dream job
Had a handgun training session with Travis last year. Great instructor.
Who did?
@@johnqpublic2718 He did lol
@@l3joint no he didn't
@@snesie7172 I'll take his word for it. Travis does teach so it's not unlikely.
@@l3joint you are flat out wrong
Mike, this episode was great, thank you. Take a look at that mic your using as the sound output is varying a bit. Guest mic seems fine.
Sounds like Travis works in Santa Ana or Anaheim. If not one If not then one of the surrounding cities…maybe I missed where he said he worked. Hmmm….Curious which one. Anyway, good stuff! Great interview
