@@MrJPort10 It's a good question. That's just my own personal opinion.Just because I don't think they should be doing interviews doesn't have to mean anything to whether or not they actually do interviews. Good communication is a skill, some people have it and some people don't.
Another great podcast, Mike. I've been trying to put my finger on why I love your podcast more than all the others. I listen to many of them while I'm working, but I never miss one of yours. I can only surmise is the fact you come across as genuine, you literally care about your guests, you care about the issues, you care about your teams, you care about your girls, your dogs, and your brothers and that authenticity comes across the table, across the Mic, and hits me right in the feels. As for your guest, I could hear his pain. As brave, as strong, as healthy as he is right now, his pain is still right beneath the surface. He's just as vital, heroic, amazing, and important as his dog. I will be sure to pick up this book as soon as I dry my eyes and wipe my nose.
Thanks for having Will on Mike! I can see how much he has to struggle to remember things after his brain injury and more credit to him for pushing forward!
Yeah great! Be proud! You have a president who openly mocks the intelligent community of his country. The russians and chinese have the overhand at the moment.
I know!!! Truth hurts. But do not worry. One day this will not be the present time anymore and you can drink a cold beer with your friends and look back at these times, remembering what a patriot your commander in chief was and how proud you are because of him.

Tuff interview Mike, but great interview, I hope Mr. Will Chesney continues to get the help he needs and deserves, he is an American hero. Can't wait to get the book. Great job Mike.
I started out listening to this and then had to switch to UA-cam so I could watch the body language. I was trying to understand if he was having a hard time remembering, a hard time with the memories or trying to figure out he could talk about and what he could not talk about. I see that it was all three. I am so impressed with how he kept going and working through the interview, and I love how you made him comfortable and worked with him.
Mr Chesney's account of the Bin Laden raid has been the most enjoyable for me. The helicopter ride home made me smile like I haven't in a long time. Thank you gentlemen.
Can't be easy reliving those moments, let alone sharing them with a bunch of civi's. I appreciate the courage these men have to tell the stories of what sacrifices were/are made on behalf of us all. Thank you

Great podcast Mike and a big thank you for the service of Will Chesney...as a Civilian, IMO, it's absolutely essential for people like Will Chesney to the degree they can, tell their stories, we as a country we need heroes that regardless of age can look up to as an example of the greatness of this country...with a reasonable number of people in this country trying to tear it down, people like Will Chesney go a long way to not allowing that to happen...
Thank you for your service guys. I'm a dog person and my wife and i own two German shepherds, a male and a female, i have been involved ( albeit at a very basic level) in training German shepherds for show purposes, and i have the utmost respect for your story and your dedicated service and acknowledgement of these amazing animals. One that leaves you somewhat disappointed that you've come to the end of the book. Thank you Will, Cairo and Mike for your service, leadership and inspiration.

This was one of the most inspiring stories I have ever heard. Thank you SO much for your candor Will, and thank you Mike for your incredibly articulate interview style. A truly amazing look at history, and those that provide "Overwatch" every, single, day.....
I've heard quite a few interviews with SEALs, but his one takes home the trophy. Will, thank you for all you've done for this country, and thank you Mike for an outstanding interview.
Thank you both for your service. Great interview. Dogs are the ultimate embodiment of loyalty. I guess that’s why they work so well with the Seal teams.
What a wonderful interview. My dad was a scout dog handler in Vietnam 69-79. 101st Airborne 42nd ipsd. He walked point near the dmz for a year. While in nfo school at Ft Benning he saw the handlers training and volunteered. He knew he had a better chance of making it home with a dog by his side. He had 2 kia. Thor and Danny and turned Lux over to a new handler when he came home. A few years ago he learned Lux was turned over to the south vietnamese army at the end of the war. It really upset him because he knew the out come of that. Thank you both for your service.
"We got him. No one was killed. We all made it back." That's the holy trinity right there! I've been known to say that "life is so much about: chemistry, relationships and dog psychology". Several of Mike's excellent podcasts have exemplified that, but this one better than any that I remember. With any animal, it IS all predicated on the relationship. A spastic owner = a spastic animal (not only dogs). It's even true with cats ... being able to read their actions and reactions is a huge bonus to situational awareness when I'm gardening with earbuds in. When I tune out, they're my eyes and ears 100%. Mike, I've a question if you've time ... In my work, I was taught tactical breathing over a decade ago by a SEAL I worked with, so it's puzzling to me to hear guys on the teams since then NOT seem to know about it. I assumed that it was taught systematically. Since emotion and thought are inversely related, taking the extra second to see beyond your target requires slowing down the ANS in order to think clearly. The quickest way to slow down the ANS is to slow down the heart rate, and the quickest way to do that is to slow down your breathing. Is this just something that only one guy knew and taught to me? That seems highly unlikely! I validated it with science back then, and have since taught it to hundreds of people to great success over the years. If you've time, I'd really appreciate your take on this; thanks! God bless Will and all that he loves. It was painful to see his struggle; I hope that he knows that his willingness to illustrate that, alone, will help folks with TBI to recognize it. You're still serving Will by sharing your story. Thanks for that, and blessings to your parents for their sacrifices as well ... it's gotta be tough to live your struggle as you live it. No good deed goes unpunished (the definition of sacrifice). Another terrific job, Mike! I really look forward to your podcasts; your humanity, curiosity and honor always shine through.
Episode 58. Will go down as the best interview. Thanks Mike for being a great conductor and so eloquent in setting up the stage and questions. My first of many to watch
Mike is such a skilled interviewer. He is able to ask questions about sensitive and personal issuers with compassion and through a non-judgemental approach. One of the best podcasts out there. God Bless you, Mike. Thank you 4 your service.
Will - as a fellow warfighter - thanks for putting your entire being into the GWOT. I didnt work at your level at all - but rather served a small part as a regular ole 11b joe. I came back with a pretty crushed mind. But like you said - im trying different things, especially in the right context. And improving. We all hurt brother. And the entire family of veterans is always open to hearing your stories, sharing ours with you , and trying to heal together. Be well, bro. And hey - you mentioned you "hope" you are helping - nah man, you ARE helping. cheers.
I thank God I found this podcast. I can’t thank you, Mike, and all of your guests enough for all that you have done and continue to do for our country. I never served but my Dad’s a Vietnam Vet and my daughter did one deployment in Afghanistan. I am so grateful to all of our Vets and have the deepest respect for you all. Please keep doing what you’re doing. You inspire and humble me. God bless you all!
The veterans in this country don't get enough love and appreciation, you guys do and sacrifice so much. I pray for you and your family's. Thank you so very much for your service.
Thank you for sharing, I've wondered about what happens when a dog gets hit but I think it's great that they are treated on the same level as anyone else on the team
Surely one of Mike's best interviews. He and Will, both warriors, did a phenomenal job of educating the public on warrior dogs and, particularly, preserving Cairo's legendary legacy. 🇺🇸⚓🇺🇸
Many years ago, I met a WW2 Navy vet who served in the South Pacific and had two ships sunk from under him. One of those ships was the USS Helena (CL-50). It sank during the Battle of Kula Gulf. He played a radio drama re-enactment of the battle and cried while listening to it. At one point, he was floating in the water at night, burned from an explosion on his ship and covered with oil. The USS Redford, a destroyer was searching for survivors. A voice called out to him and he responded. The next thing he knew, A Navy sailor reached out and they gripped each other by the wrist, not letting go. After the war, the two of them met and posed for a statue that is on display at the USS Radford museum of their hands gripping each other by the wrist. Far too many civilians have no sense of our vets. I never served in the military, but I go to a national cemetery every Memorial Day to pay my respects and say thank you. 🇺🇸
God bless you both, we owe you so much. It can never be repayed & we love you for it. My dog is literally keeping me alive; thank you both for what you have done with dogs!
Will, thank you for coming on the podcast and sharing your story. You guys are real life super heroes and we are all indebted to you for your service. God Bless! 🇺🇸
This one hit hard on so many levels. My gratitude for these men will always be without end. I didn't think I could respect them more, but hearing their love of their four legged partners has done just that. Thank you for telling such a difficult personal story and sharing Cairo's life with us.
This is one of the best interviews I have ever seen . Will is a hero . And I hope the best for him . I am so glad that I have discovered Mike’s podcast!
Mike really did an outstanding job keeping this interview going, I know Will has a TBI but he was also very conservative and short on his answers. Still mad respect for the guy for what he’s done for our country, thanks to both of you!
I think I've been the most impacted by Will and DJ Shipley on Shawn Ryan Show. Insane careers and deployments aside- the balls to consent to and participate in these interviews and lay it all out is an incredible gift to us. How much more can we ask of these men and yet they continue to give and give. These recorded living histories and their honesty about the hard shit too will help and impact generations to come.
Great interview Mike....Will seems like a very down to earth and humble guy. I love his quote "A dogs most valuable asset is his nose" this speaks volumes about Will. Our nation needs more men like you both. As a K9 handler/Trainer I am looking forward to reading Wills book.
It was actually really beautiful to see how he opened up to you Mike as time went on, in the beginning he was very cautious and his brain obviously was sort of defensive. You did a wonderful job and i really hope the best for him too, honestly tragic thinking about how much he is struggling. Thanks alot Mike you're doing a great job and you're an awesome interviewer!
Mike you do an awesome job interviewing people. You are top notch at drawing information out of people and ask the hard questions. Other podcast with your same guest don’t compare. Thank you
Man that was heart wrenching hearing about the dog collapsing. Dogs have so much loyalty and honor they will charge into sure death with courage to serve their handlers. Very brave. What a good boy. I cant imagine how hard it is for will to tell and relive these stories. Must be hard.
As a history lover, dog lover and an American who loves my country, I am GLAD you wrote the book... put it in my Amazon cart and plan to buy it on my next purchase... gonna get an extra one for a gift to one of my best friends who is a retired K9 Cop. Thank you. Thank you Mike for another great interview.
Well done interview. I bought both audio versions of No Ordinary Dog, which describes the life of an amazing military working dog and the warriors he went into battle with. Am sharing those with my two boys.

Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your experience, thank you for serving, and thank you for allowing me to sleep at night without a worry in mind.
Awesome story... so thankful for committed heroes like Will who made a difference defending America and making a difference in another way afterwards. Every time I hear a vet’s story on one these interviews I am more thankful to be an American than before. @@MrJPort10 It's a good question. That's just my own personal opinion.Just because I don't think they should be doing interviews doesn't have to mean anything to whether or not they actually do interviews.
I don't think that everyone has the right personality to be doing interviews on a public forum.Would you agree that it helps to be able to communicate well and to have social skills and a more open personality if you're going to be doing interviews on podcasts/television and other mediums and promoting a product of any kind(in this case,a book)?
Tonya Gray you have the best words ever! Thanks for speaking for me as well
Thanks for having Will on Mike! I can see how much he has to struggle to remember things after his brain injury and more credit to him for pushing forward!
Give this guy credit. For all he’s done, just makes me proud to be American! God bless. Sell those books baby!
Yeah great! Be proud! You have a president who openly mocks the intelligent community of his country.
The russians and chinese have the overhand at the moment.
Hey buddy, fuck off
I know!!! Truth hurts. But do not worry. One day this will not be the present time anymore and you can drink a cold beer with your friends and look back at these times, remembering what a patriot your commander in chief was and how proud you are because of him.
@@benjaminkonig5047 dude, what?😂😂😂 get out of here Karen
I absolutely love this guy. All class& humble -Soft spoken savage with a heart of gold. I love dogs & I have So much respect for the sacrifice the dogs make along with these warriors. Thank you all so much 🇺🇸🙏 Bought the book. Mike has a real skill interviewing & Mikedrop pulls back the curtain of the high quality of our country’s warriors. Cairo RIP hero never forgotten. I would walk hours to shake Wills hand and thank him. Wish you the best. Great book and yes I cried.
Amen to that John

Tuff interview Mike, but great interview, I hope Mr. Will Chesney continues to get the help he needs and deserves, he is an American hero. Can't wait to get the book. Great job Mike.
"Lighten up Francis" LMFAO! Mike your AWESOME!! I would be honored to be called anything by you guys! Thanks for defending my family and our country!
Appreciate Will sharing his story despite it obviously bringing up some rough memories.
Can't be easy reliving those moments, let alone sharing them with a bunch of civi's. I appreciate the courage these men have to tell the stories of what sacrifices were/are made on behalf of us all.
Thank you
It's interesting how all of a sudden he lights up as soon as he starts talking about the dogs
Oscar Hernandez dude has seen some crazy shit, plus got the pleasure of getting close to not only the guys but an animal that was as hard working as they were. Now his main man (the animal) is gone. The dogs are his bright spot that shines through the dark!
Dogs are saviors working and non, I got to spend a little of my free time with one of the handlers dogs when I had a moment to breathe in Baghdad, fkn miracle moments, I reflect on those moments now and can find the light.
Man's best friend! Truth
Who doesn’t 🤷🏽♀️
I gotta say great job mike and two great stand up dudes right here I tip my hat to both of u I’m a huge dog guy myself I got mad respect for these guys
Can almost hear him suppressing his PTSD through the screen. Respect, def a baddass
I hear this a lot this assumption of ptsd, is it almost guaranteed if youve been deployed?
@@niqvuk no. Not everyone is in combat or crazy traumatic situations just cause they've deployed.
This by far has to be one of the best interviews I've ever seen. I too listen to Mike drop during my workouts. Mike’s ability to interact and interview is first class. I was moved by Will’s selfless patriotic persona. I've ordered my copy and I'm eager to read it. May God bless our vets as well as our four-legged vets.
Thank you Will for sharing Cairo an your story as well as your own. !! Never Forget 🇺🇸
Great interview Mike !
Respect, Mike for your patience and interview skills and thank you Will for your courage and honesty to open up.
Respect to both of you. Thank you for sharing these stories.
I just started listening to “No Ordinary Dog” I’m so grateful Will took the time to record himself reading the book. It make 1000x better!!! Thank you Mike for introducing Will and thank you Will for sharing your story!!! Also of course thank you for your service!!! American Warriors 🇺🇸💯%
I wish you good health Will and I hope you find peace in life, you look like a great guy with big heart. And I hope we all can find peace in life.
A warrior who was on the most important raid in U.S. history but had to live with his parents afterwards. Heart breaking. Praying for you Will.
No words for how awesome this was. The power of the emotion he's holding, incredible. Two amazing people.
May God Bless you, Will.
I appreciate you.
Thanks for giving us these videos, Mike!
I just finished the Audible version of the book and as tough as I tried to be through it, it still grabbed me by the heart strings. It was a wonderful story. One that leaves you somewhat disappointed that you've come to the end of the book. Thank you Will, Cairo and Mike for your service, leadership and inspiration.
God bless this soldier! Thank you sir for all your service and sacrifice!
Undoubtedly the best podcast I’ve listened to. Will, you’re an absolute hero. Mike, you hit it out of the park; thank you.
Those with the thumbs down wish they were in your shoes. Thanks for sharing and for your service!
Phenomenal podcast. You can truly feel his passion for ensuring his K9’s legacy is told correctly. Thank you for your service and I pray that you are able to continue positively with your healing process.
Mike, Great content ALWAYS. So appreciate you and the service members of this great country! Thank you.
Mike is such a skilled interviewer. He is able to ask questions about sensitive and personal issuers with compassion and through a non-judgemental approach. One of the best podcasts out there. God Bless you, Mike. Thank you 4 your service.
Very tough to see that pain in someone's eyes. Thank you for your service and sacrifices.
And hey - you mentioned you "hope" you are helping - nah man, you ARE helping. cheers.
I hope Will gets through his life obstacles, I will def
read the book. Great podcast.
Thank you Mike and Will. I’m humbled beyond words and so very grateful. Will definitely buy and read the book. 💕
best thing is when he mentions cairo and starts smiling. great interview. thank you both!!
Mike, another stellar interview. Thank you Will for your service and I hope you find the peace you are looking for.
I am so glad that we Vets are developing Podcasts! It opens millions of eyes of what we go through by Branch and MOS. Podcast on!!!
Great job, Mike. Thank you! What a true, heroic guest you have here. I'm blessed to have watched this. Ya'll put the MSM to utter shame.
God bless you both, we owe you so much. It can never be repayed & we love you for it. My dog is literally keeping me alive; thank you both for what you have done with dogs!
Will, thank you for coming on the podcast and sharing your story. You guys are real life super heroes and we are all indebted to you for your service.

Thank you for sharing the story of this hero - Mike you are a great interviewer.
Awesome podcast Mike. Thank you Will and Mike for your services to our great country.
Thank you for sharing this incredible story!God bless you both, Gentlemen!!
This one hit hard on so many levels. My gratitude for these men will always be without end. I didn't think I could respect them more, but hearing their love of their four legged partners has done just that. Thank you for telling such a difficult personal story and sharing Cairo's life with us.
I don't know why someone would think this is "hard to watch" - this was fucking excellent.
Can’t wait to see Jeff Reid from Frozen Trident on here in the future
I want to see jocko and Sean buck Rodgers.
Thank you

Well done interview. I bought both audio versions of No Ordinary Dog, which describes the life of an amazing military working dog and the warriors he went into battle with. Am sharing those with my two boys.
I absolutely love listening to these interviews. I am a public high school math teacher who has zero clue of what military deployment/life looks like. Our lives couldn’t be more dissimilar. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your experience, thank you for serving, and thank you for allowing me to sleep at night without a worry in mind.
One of your best Mike. Keep 'em coming. Love what you do and thank you for your service to our country.
Awesome story... so thankful for committed heroes like Will who made a difference defending America and making a difference in another way afterwards. Every time I hear a vet’s story on one these interviews I am more thankful to be an American than before.
