  • Replacing 2 oxygen sensors on the 2007 to 2013 model Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra truck. Today I’ll be showing you how to replace:
    Bank 1 sensor 1 (driverside upstream O2 sensor) P015B code
    Bank 2 sensor 1 (passenger side upstream O2 sensor) P015D code
    Get an oxygen sensor tool/socket or set. The shorter crowfoot style ones will be for the driverside but you can fit the longer deep o2 sensor socket on the passenger side one.

    I think your video might be the only video on UA-cam showing how to replace the driver's side o2 sensor on a 4x4. I've looked and looked and finally found your video.

    just a small useful tip that worked for me, if you pull out the plastic inner fender you will have a lot of room to deal with the upstream sensors. At least on my 08 GMC sierra that was the case lol

    Thank you for this!! Just replaced the drivers side bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor in about 10min. Kind of a pain with the 4WD Drive shaft in the way, but not too bad. 👍🏼👌🏼

      Glad it helped! It's great when it's a job we can do ourselves, so we don't have to take the time to drive it to a shop, wait for it to get done, AND pay for the labor service AND drive home! 👍

    Been doing this for years, I would always add copper anti-seize. Don't rely on the little bit that comes on the new part.

    Hi and thanks for this video! One question, what is the spray cleaner you are using, is it Liquid Wrench or parts cleaner?

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  4 місяці тому

      Hey there, it’s penetrant spray. Liquid Wrench will work, PB Blaster, etc. It will wreck an O2 sensor’s ability to sense, so use it if you are replacing the O2 sensor (like I was), but not if you just need to take out an O2 sensor and plan on reusing it still.

    Just curious did you check the breaker before replacing the sensor? My O2 sensor is check engine lighting and I figure that’s step 1

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  Рік тому

      Hi, I'm not aware of any fuse breaker for O2 sensors. I've never seen one or anything marked on a fuse box panel that says oxygen sensor fuse...
      My opinion, a check engine light for oxygen sensors is fairly straightforward in terms of what the issue is (bad O2 sensor).
      In my case the check engine light codes were for 2 different O2 sensors and having replaced them both and the CEL is off, I'd say bad O2 sensors were the obvious culprits.
      If there ever is confirmation that there is such a thing as oxygen sensor fuse on Chevy trucks, please point it out! It would be good knowledge and learning!

    Una pregunta debes desconectar la batería para hacer el cambio del sensor de oxígeno?
    o no es necesario.....

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  2 місяці тому +1

      It's a good practice in general to disconnect the battery before doing most work. Not "necessary" to replace the oxygen sensor but a good practice.

    Pretty sure I ruined my O2 sensor with my antifreeze fiasco. Bank 1 Sensor 1. If I replace it myself, it will probably be a different one. Trying to save a buck often makes you pay double for your efforts.

      Yes, words of wisdom. Sometimes and some people should not DIY if they doubt or know it's not their thing. Like me with plumbing... I can figure it out but it's just not my thing and I don't enjoy it, meaning I almost will my repairs to fall... I just hire someone I trust to do it right and I stick to DIY that I enjoy!

    Well I wanted to see how the drivers side came off!! I have the short socket but it's a pain and no room to work. U should google how to remove the clips, u r doing it wrong. I destroyed 1 clip till I found out how simple it was to remove
