Who went/is still at lightbox expo??! I had a great time catching up with art bros and meeting tons of new peeps! More importantly though, your foreshortening needs help, fix it now
Yo Marc! I bought the advanced brush set but some of them don't really work. Im on Clip Studio by the way.
I'm still there! I bumped into you on Saturday in the artist hall. Was great just saying hi to you.
Hey Marc, I passed by you at LBX! Wanted to say hi but I didn't really have anything to say haha. Also I saw you on the LBX Discord but I wasn't sure if that was actually you, I definitely would've hooked you up if I knew that was really you haha.
Oh you were there. :( I totally miss you:(
Hey, I met you at Lightbox! I was the guy that was too busy admiring your shirt to notice that the man who made it was wearing it, lol! I really meant it when I said you need a booth at the expo.
When the artist is so good they can replicate mistakes! It's so much easier to see the differences between the right and wrong when is shown in the same drawing
The mistake drawing look better than anything I have ever drawn 😭
Was literally struggling with foreshortening 4 hours ago , but I eventually finished, good thing this tutorial came right just in time
its literally the samething with me in every aspect of art, when i feel i need help to figure out something , a 20 hour ago video from him appears on my homepage, its kinda scary ngl
dudes that always comment the last video saying just in time... bruh
Newbie artists: Anatomy is hard!
Veteran artists: Anatomy is easy with studies and construction.
Both newbie and veteran artists: The human body is f*cking weird.
The human body is weird
But that's what makes it cool 😎

My man Marc coming with the needed stuff in the right time
7:20 That "left foot... or...?" LOL 🤣
Aesthetic balance/silhouette reminds me of what you learn in theater/drama. Always open up and turn your body to the audience so that they can see you and understand what you're doing, even though realistically that's not how we would normally interact with each other face-to-face. Understanding it that way has helped me out a bit and made me less ridged with my poses. Especially when I'm posing things that are foreshortened.
Foreshortening is really difficult, but I will use these tips to improve!
I always found foreshortening very difficult and it would easily kill my mood to draw. But seeing this video makes me feel motivated to try again and I can't wait to try it out!
That silhouette test could have come in handy in my practice arts. Now that I know, I look at them with cringe. Well might as well redraw them. Great class as always, bringing art knowledge while brightening my day.
I learn more about art in one video than one week of art classes, I love it. ❤
Literally was focusing on this over the last week!! Thanks Marc you’re the best!
THIS VIDEO IS SO GOOD THANK YOU MARC!!
i just needed this, thank you sensei!! ❤️
Been looking for a video like this for so way too long! Thank you, Marc!
Bounding box blew my mind. So excited to try it out.
Thanks for the video Marc!
Marc, you've really helped me improve this year, I only started actually studying 10 months ago but I could see the improvement, all of those free classes really helped me go around stuff I have tackle yet. thanks Marc!
i love you marc, thanks for being a great teacher
this has to be the best drawing tutorial channel ive see in my mortal life. im a starter artist and i think this is the most understandable one and funny as well, Good job!
4:07 brooo this thing actually being taught in my art school perspective class, it is a very useful technique indeed
What a godsend of a video, i've been struggling with foreshortening lately and it has killed my motivation, this was exactly what I needed.
Thanks for your videos man they really help me to improve a lot a huge thanks from the most deep part of my heart
I like how you broke the information down to it's simplest form. Understanding and seeing the use of both construction and foreshortening will improve my designs greatly. Thank you so much.
Loved this. I have been struggling a lot with perspective but this helps a lot with that. Looking forward to try this!
Awesome tutorial! I always struggled with foreshortening, and im sure this will greatly help!
Interesting explanations, very useful! I'm getting the hang of this now and this cleared the rest of the doubts I had :)
Boundry boxes are a great idea. Thanks. :)
TYSM BIG BRO Marc!!!
It is amazing how this video came out while i was working on a foreshortened pose. Thanks for the tips. ^^
Big brain stuff! I've been struggling with foreshortening for ......... since forever. always looked so.... flat and stiff. I'll practice with these super helpful tips!
thank you marc!
Hey marc.. Ive been sifting through old 2d Artist Tutorials and ran into an interview you did in march 2007. Thought it was a nice coincidence. You've come along way but everything in the article was still impressive.
Definitely learn something new, finding the center of a foreshortened object definitely something I needed to learn. Thanks
this was helpful, thank you Marc!
Wild timing, was trying this yesterday.
The best, the explosions at the beginning
Thank you, Explodo sensei 🙏
Thanks for the lesson marc sensei
Knew some of this, but some of it's new and super useful. Thanks!
Really helpful, I think I learned something important!
Such a great video, thanks marc
Great info, thanks for the video. The bounding box really clicked for me.
I was literally about to try foreshortening Ty👍👍
The explanation using the window was very helpful
Just what i needed
I love drawing foreshortening, it looks very dynamic
Ima just say, I needed this. Thank you a lot 🤝
Yeeeeesssss this is what I,ve been waiting for lest go!
So.... Goodddd thank you master❤️
Thanks Marc! I like extreme such what they did with afro samurai
It's a very helpful tutorial, thank uou so much ❤️
Awesome video!
I'm really need this.. Thank you❤
Thanks very much for this video! This is gonna help alot.
I recently finished a fanart of my fav char. I drew him from above and couldn't figure out how to draw it correctly. I used a lot of references and ended up using a 3d model. Imo it looks good and i'm really proud of how he turned out. The background could have been better, since the angle makes everything a bit akward. But i'll leave it that way, i want to redraw a bunch of my art later when i get better. I'll try using the box thing you mentioned. Thank you very much for all these helpfull tips and tricks :)
Scarlet fire gives me a fight or flight response thanks to a certain Aussie... all jokes aside, great video! I highly appreciate artists like you putting out this valuable information online FOR FREE. It's insane to think I can see this quality stuff for free... definitely deserving of a sub.
Wow, very nice ✨
Hey Marc , can you pleas make another video on painting without line-art ?
I really loved your previous video on that topic, and I feel like this technique doesn’t have a lot of ressources on UA-cam but a lot of people enjoy painting this way 😊
Merci pour tout le travail !
Honestly never thought of angles, like actually trying to use the degree of the angle, should have thought of that sooner, really useful, thanks
Very helpful. More on this plz.
very nice as always
Awesome tips as always, Marc! I'm really glad I've found your channel. I've been learning a lot from you. =)
There's always guaranteed that I learn at least few things from your video which is very amazing also I always recommend your channel to my fellow artist friends!
I paid the class fee
It's like you're reading my mind Marc! Thanks :D
super helpful. thank you!
3:00 at first i didn't see any mistake then the comparison came and i was mind blown
very informative video
great stuff。i need to practice more
Thank you
Explaining the foreshortened windows with the 'x' blew my mind
Thank you very much sir
lifesaver fr
oh you suffered a fire?! Hope you and your love ones are ok and that everything gets back to normal asap. great video btw! best wishes!!
He suffers a fire every week, due to all the explosions.
It’s a joke.
can you make a class talk about more in-depth design, or maybe share tips about a character design?
3:48... OMG that's what I'm always doing wrong. 😖 And I even knew this X rule in the back of my noodle! Thx for this vid!
Very helpful
i just found out why my foreshortening sucked good thing i watched this 💀
thx master !
Thanks
nice timing
You are the sensei.
Arigatto osaimassu, Explodo sensei 🙏🙏🙏

Awesome
Eres realmente un genio

Hey Marc!
Question on simple volumes here for anatomy. At about 5:20 in this video, I see you using a box for both the hips and the waist+chest combined. That's a different technique than what you have in your Drawing Simple Anatomy video where you recommend using a larger egg shape for the torso and a short cylinder for the waist. What would be the purposes between those two different styles?
Thank you for your videos! I'm on day 12 of practicing level 1 + watching one of your videos. My skills in drawing characters have never been this good despite a ton of art classes years ago. The skillset got a decade of rust on it before I found your stuff, and now I feel like my identity as an artist is on its way back! THANK YOU!
Hey Marc just wondering how long you have been a professional artist for.
First! Yey foreshortening ! I’ve been struggling with this
the 4:00 trick is 10/10 helpful 😳
Excellent stuff, Marc. Honestly you could probably make a three hour video just about foreshortening in general.
Perspective and foreshortening is something I always struggled with over the years, and every little bit of knowledge about it helps.
Great work as always, but just one thing... I as your loyal subscriber demand even wackier intro videos. ;)
Bout time I find a video on this
That bolder lines in the front thing makes me wonder, is it almost like atmospheric perspective affecting the lines like it does backgrounds? When you have a foreshortened character, the foreshortened part is brought foreword into the foreground....Say that five times fast. And the arm in witch example is even started to back into the background.
Also, that time on finding the middle of an object in perspective is liquid gold. Thanks mate.
I found a quick way to get your feet off the ground with foreshortening.
Take a full length arm, cut four lines into it. One in the middle of the Shoulder Arm, One in the middle of the joint, One in the middle of the Forearm, and the last one in the hand. Then youll want to draw and make every part stop at a line. The Should arm stops at the first line, the joint part stops at the second line and so on. Now you have halfed your arm and you can probably see it turning in space. Repeat it over and over and your arm will eventually turn in space until its practically facing you. You can use this technique to find a specific foreshortening angle you want for your work. If you move the lines closer to each other the arm will get shorter and more foreshortened, and depending on where the lines reside (closer to the hand or shoulder) you can find new posibilities. This also kind works with legs too if you want to give the illusion of a walking charecter (Half the thigh, Half the Joint, Half below the joint, and half the foot) This can technically work with bodies as a whole but its a bit odd
Whoa, that is a ‘left foot’ of some serious magnitude…
One thing about foreshortening and perspective, the closer object is, the bigger foreshortening is, or if hand is very close it will be huge, but the same pose from distance will be not distorted, almost not at all, so its not that one is correct and other not, it gives perspective how far object is
finally the time has come to learn PROPER foreshortening 😎
"That" second ep had a weird foreshadow
I like that explosions randomly appear in video
I hate foreshortening 😭😭😭 struggle is real. Thank you marc
