You all motivate me to put out content that (hopefully) motivates you in return, that's deep
Hey Marc. I think my drawings are arguably pretty good, but I've been struggling with MAJOR art block. How can I get over it?
Great timing on this one!! ty
🤌🤌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯🗿
“It’s a self fulfilling cycle! Madness!”
We adore you ! Thank you so much for your content, you're helping so many people
Mark is now my dad in art. Always here to help, always here to teach
Hopefully he doesn't become like my dad, never here to help, never here to teach

He will give your comment a ❤️.
My teacher always says:
"motivation is pushing yourself to love what you have to do. Discipline is forcing yourself to do something you don't like but have to do. Motivation is enough to start something, but you need discipline to keep it going. After all, no employee wants to spend at least 40 hours a week on one thing, but they are disciplined enough to do it and money is enough to motivate them." so you don't actually need motivation most of the time, you need discipline.
Both? yes Both is Good :)
Why would you keep drawing if you don't like it 🙃
@@YTartschool I didn't mean it like that. ofcourse I like drawing I just don't like learning process. When I said "start something" I didn't mean starting to draw, I meant starting to learn how to draw. so If we go back to my first comment, liking drawing becomes my motivation but to be able to draw really well and enjoy it more, I need to learn boring subjects like anatomy, perspective, color theory and practice those for a long time. Of course, this may not apply to everyone, there are a lot of people who enjoys the learning process after all. I only speak for myself and my teacher used to say those words to her students who did not like to learn like me, but I still think that the motivation alone is insufficient to master a skill. I saw a lot of people who said they lack motivation to learn something but most of the time they actually have that motivation -they already started to learn after all- they just lack dicipline to get up their bed, force themself to learn and grind those skills.
a quote from olympian Alexi Pappas, "When you're chasing a big goal, you're supposed to feel good a third of the time, okay a third of the time, and crappy a third of the time"
I think discipline is to keep going when it feels crappy in this case.
I also see studying as a reward to finishing a painting, didn't start do it on purpose but I look for something I want to learn and leave it there as motivation to finish that painting that is getting hard to complete.
well. i train myself drawing everyday. wether i feel like it or not. my feeling dont matter, when im sick or not im drawing, the first thing i pick when im awake is my pen/brush. and just paint for 1-2 hour. its almost over a year. and it becoming a habit like breathing now.
1. Don’t rely on external rewards
2. Reduce the scope of products to few minutes
3. Get people around you (Can use discord or art challenges)
4 Take a few studies and turn them to something fun
5. Write a specific goal
You know, I’m not even an artist, I’m a musician. Despite that, I watch all of your videos because there’s always something to learn that translates over to music. Love the videos!
Last time I checked music is a type of art, and musicians are artists too.
@@neroarchangel you’re right, I could have worded that better 😅
what type of music you do ? 👀
@@neroarchangel yeah but there isn't really a word to indicate who creates visual art so people usually call them artist while other forms of arts have their own names(like musician, sculptor, writer etc.). That doesn't mean that musicians aren't artists, simply visual artist don't have a term to indicate them other than the generic artist.
@@tontinton4 Ever heard of painter? Illustrator? Plenty of words out there. Visual artists can be called various names. Just because you don't know it, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't as well.
I come here for MOTIVATION. And I got what I wanted. Now I'm (a little) motivated. Thanks to you.
I see what have you done here. This is a real power.
I respect the dmc reference. This is POWER
What form of power is tHis!?
Do you have the notes of this video plz share it.
Now I'm feeling a little motivated.
Thanks Mark, this came at a right time.
I haven't been able to touch my pencil for over a month now to the point that I get too scared to try or even dread seeing art online feeling guilty over not being active
It's so assuring seeing someone feel the exact same way. Feeling dread and anxiety just by looking at the stylus or opening Clip Studio is a horrible feeling.
@@Ausdrake Yeah it is a paralyzing fear. It's so much easier to not try than to risk another failure.
A horrible feeling
Wow. The first step was exactly what I was struggling with. The moment I let go of expecting a reward, motivation came. Let’s see if I can act on it!
I had a brain injury and have had to relearn everything including art. Its been demotivating and frustrating for various reasons. But I got new friends that hype me up and support me during this whole messy process. And ended up finding this channel too by happenstance. I really enjoy watching/learning from Marcs videos because he explains things in an easy way I can follow, especially since he shows the whole process as he's going along. And he's just like a chill dude? Following any video of his is a huge comfort like just listening because he's very positive. Of course drawing as I watch has helped me grasp art again. I'm kind of rambling but anyways, really needed to watch this. (*´ω`*)
Man that’s crazy I hope you do well and surpass what you could previously do in art good luck 🔥
@@lathonland Thank you for the kind words! Hope youre doing great in your endeavors as well (*´ω`*)
That's pretty badass
Hope you're doing well!
When I heard you say not to keep alot of you art private idk why but I felt a visable reluctant response to that. Then I thought about it and I remembered how when I was younger and drawing the most I was not sharing my art on the internet and now that I am I find myself drawing far less. There are some pieces I keep to myself, but I post way more than I keep to myself. So I will work on that so I can feel less pressure when drawing. Thank you! ❤
God, Marc makes drawing under anatomy from scratch look so damn easy, not to mention his hair looks so good but uncomplicated. I'm still building on those skills, and coloring!!
For me, my motivation is when I feel like I want to draw, to feel like my body flipped a switch from off to on. It's quite amazing
I’ve been doing the learn to draw in 30 days thing, on day 7, so far the sphere with the shadows has been hardest. Doing the studies first has been helpful to get me going, so thanks Marc!
Two art school videos in a row where I've had the Marc Brunet Experience™️ of being exactly what I need at the time, and I'm incredibly amazed and grateful. Thank you for all you do!
I always chuckle when you segue to the Art School, thanks teach!
After a two hour animal study session, which was super fun and rewarding to do, it's very relaxing to see your drawings and listen to your true words! Thank you Marc 😊
I literally needed this right now.
Something that has been helping me massively to stay motivated with art is joining OCTs (Original Character Tournaments) where people pit their characters against each other through different medias such as either most commonly comics or otherwise animatics mini podcasts
The drawings are so good, they motivated me! The shape design of the anatomy is incredibly appealing especially the shoulder and neck area. Now I want to do my best again!
Thanks for the tips!
I am an artist - both in drawing traditionally and BJD customization. Also, I have ADD, and somehow this video seemed like a life hack. If I limit my goals, I'll be much more motivated to do even more. Thank you, marc. You are not only fun to listen to, but also caring and wholesome.
I'd join your art programm in an instant if I was a digital artist.
I needed this video. I have been in an artistic rut since my grandpa died in July. Then some other stuff happened, and my heart and mind just couldn’t get into the mood. Then I started thinking about how Instagram punishes you for not using the app and posting regularly-I have since stopped caring because I’m not its slave. It wasn’t until recently that I felt motivated to get back into drawing. I’m writing a book and the concept art won’t create itself. If I want this to actually take off, I have to put in the work. Merci beaucoup for this video Marc! It’s helping me get back on the horse.
I haven't posted any art in yearrrrs! And then now I'm enjoying drawing more without any pressure. Eventually I posted no more than 5 things, one thing unexpectedly got popular within it's circle of interest. Now I'm back to just drawing and not showing anything because it made me feel pressure to make everything that "good". lol!
wow. the floss example seriously just clicked something in me and changed my perspective. you are awesome Marc
3 things I look forward to the most every video: 1. The creative and unexpecting intros. 2. The secret info on how long Marc has been an art teacher. And of course 3, the actual lesson 💙
Your intros give me motivation.
Your videos always come at the exact right time for me. Thank you so much for making content man. This stuff is extremely helpful
Thanks!! I love the fact that you don't really need to motivate us back, yet you still do it.
Having an awesome video like this every week is EXTREMELY motivating! Thank you for keeping it up.
The penultimate tip really got me thinking. Whenever I want to practice I get stressed because I can't think of what to draw, but you're right in what you say, take it gracefully, draw something I like and put what you've studied into practice.
very good video thanks
Dude thank you for this
I completed my first big project in April and have been struggling since then to make more art it's like I'm scared to draw anything in case I "fail" but today was the first time I enjoyed drawing in a while :)
YESS, maybe finally I’ll be motivated enough to actually finish a piece thank you marcy
Thanks, I needed to hear that ✨
Thank you so much for all these videos
Man, that is a great video! Thank you so much😊
Keep at it, as someone that has been watching ur vids for a long time I can tell your charisma while teaching/talking to us is what makes it ever so nice to watch em.
I watch a ton of art videos, and your tips seem to be the most useful! The other artists are good too, but you just seem to have that talent of teaching, and your art is really good! Thanks a bunch over the past couple of years. I've gotten so much better watching/listening to your vids.
dude i was actually in need of a video like this thank u!!!
That's fun, this recommandation came when I needed the most
Marc if you keep producing these great artist videos I’m going to give you a big hug, or subscribe to your art school. Whichever comes first.
these are honestly some of the best tips! i'm going start gaining my motivation from now on.
Watching this actually made me more motivated, before i was so depressed and want to give up on every drawing i start, i need to take some time and just be creative and just draw for fun instead of just stressing myself out all the time trying to learn all the time. Thanks for the tips Marc
Thank you mister Marc I needed this
love the message in the video, this was much needed to hear.
Just watched this and I can't believe how perfect the timing is..
This is just what I really need to hear right now.
Thank you so much for sharing these tips Marc!
As someone who burned out and lost all motivation while slowly rotting away and awaiting death, godspeed to anyone still struggling and trying, don't end up like me.
Thank you so much mark, i mean it😩your advices are so effective
We love you Marc
ooh :o i’m definitely gonna need this! thank you mr. marc! :D
Thank you Marc. You are still the only thing reminding me not to forget or give up my art hobby.
I'm busy working these days. But I wish my job was art.
Just on time as always 😭♥️ I really needed this thank you 💕
Thank you Marc!!! Lately I’ve been feeling lack of creativity or motivation to create (since it’s summer and I’m not longer in art class at school) so this is really helpful! Thank you!!!!
lately I have felt very unmotivated not so much because of personal problems, because of existential issues thanks master mark you always motivate me to the fullest
Thank you Marc.
The reason why I started the learn to draw this month is to help motivation. Thank you for these tips!
Yes! Another great Saturday video. Exactly what I needed today :) thanks for all the consistent great content!
thank you for this sensei
I've been following this chanel for quite long time now, and I must say, that all the tips contained in the videos were one of the most helpful onces I found at UA-cam. Thank you! :D
Love your tip #4! Always struggled finding the balance with this.
thank you ❤️
Nice! I need this!
Sometimes it takes an artist's favorite artist to motivate the artist
I really needed this. Thanks.
Thanks for the video Marc! ❤
Masterful Illustration Prowess!
Thanks to your Channel every day I feel motivated and I have evolved more and more! God bless your life🙌❤️
0:34 This is honestly the best one yet!
Thank you for inspiring artists like me ❤️
Marc improving our view of art
I actually started writing my daily task down and it does help. Its an easy way to track your progress throughout the day to make sure your hitting your goals. It's a bit similar to going to the gym and hitting your sets/reps.
Thank you so much❤ It's very helpful for me🙂🙂🙂
The timing, thank you for this
So lucky that I found your channel your videos are so great
Thanks ❤
Thanks Marc 👊🏾👌🏽✌🏾
marc i just wanted to tell you that i love your accent, it makes your videos so much better
Awesome drawings as always ❤️
Thank you Marc, vous êtes trop motivan
Thank you, Explodo sensei 🙏🙏🙏
I went from learning about art to getting life advice, and I'm actually gonna use this. Thank you!
Everytime im having a problem in art i always see one of your videos pop up with the exact advice i need
Ive been struggling with motivation for months now. I decided to draw something few minutes ago, and then this video pops up. You're truly a godsent
Very useful advise even for those practicing music. Great drawings by the way! Anatomy knowledge shining strong here!
I agree, I usually start with small drawings and keep most studies to myself ☺️
Thank you.
You post at the right time, right moment. Thanks god you save my futureself.🤧
Thank you Marc! Always saves the daaayyy
Watching drawing videos always helps. One channel I absolutely love is Akihito Yoshitomi. Watching him draw on his iPad is such an inspiration. Also, I like to browse subreddits like ImaginaryMonsters and ImaginaryLandscapes.
Thank you for your tips, mister!!👍
We always Need a motivation its helpful thank you to helping us☺️
marc you're so forward...thank you so much for the video
I hit a hard wall a year or two ago because I wasnt studying at all, and I couldnt for the life of me figure out why I wasnt improving and got really frustrated. Until I found your videos I hadn't been drawing regularly for almost two years. Thank you so much for all of the content you've put out! It's really helped me get remotivated and actually start loving art again after my college art courses killed my enthusiasm.
thank you so much i loove your videos so helpful
great job master
thank you so much for making this video 🙏
I actually draw something good after a while because of your videos
Thank you!
Thank you so much teach
Absolutely.
I need this, I'm in time in my life where I've lost interest in creating art because of harsh things in my life recently.
I really hope it'll come back someday, I'll watch your videos again and again, it inspires me.
Most of your advices are good not just for art, but for life in general. Thanks a lot for sharing your insight with us mortals.
I love your art , Thank you for inspiring me. I really like your vids. Please make more vids 🎉
