Regarding the amazon wishlist... I put things in there that I intend to buy in the future, it's my 'wish list' too. So the expensive things in there are for me to buy when I have the money, I'm not expecting someone to shell out stupid money. In fact, there's no expectation at all. Thanks so much!
Where do we find your Amazon wish list please :)
@@Kiwiralph22 expand the description on the video and you'll find the link 😁
Link in the description, thanks for watching!
Some bits on the way! Note keep your electrics away from your nav gear and cabling otherwise you will be going in circles….
@@RichieKeane thank you so much! I'll be sure to do that!
Adding the whistling wind background noise is a stroke of film making genius.
Really took me a long time to settle on that track, thanks for noticing! 😉
Agree, but taking it out would be overwhelming though
@@DanielJLopes and well beyond my meagre capabilities at this time. If you think of it as a lullaby, it's easier to cope with. That's literally how I've had to get to sleep for the past week 😂
I thought you were rounding Cape Horn....... :)
@@tommiller8416 maybe one day... 😂
I don't know why I'm watching these videos, I can't even understand a half of words you're saying. And still I can't stop watching it. Please, do more.
😂😂😂 I must have one of those faces 😂. Hopefully I'll be doing 2 per week! Thanks so much for watching.
Who would have thought that watching a 30 minute video of a guy cleaning a stove could be so entertaining... Bloody marvelous
😂😂😂 I was worried it wasn't! Thanks for watching!
You cracked me up several times during this but I lost it when you said you prepared all the ingredients in a single pot then showed the cup o noodles. Great vid!
😂😂😂 Thanks!
We are loving your videos! By “we” I mean me, my wife and my kids who are home educated, and you have become a part of that. We are all constantly laughing at your wonderful presentations and can’t wait to see the rest of your adventure unfold! Thank you so much for sharing it.
Thank you so much, and hello to all your family! Thanks for watching!
Love it mate! I am a want to own but broke sailor (of my computer chair for now) A great reflection of real boat ownership as someone new to it.
Really love your vids. I've been a novice for 40 years.
😂 Thank you!
I watched it all, I hope you're bloody happy!😵💫
I am! I hope you are, any pointers gratefully received! Thanks for watching!
@The Bumbling Sailor only 1 pointer, every video should be a chapter ( even angry northerner polishing shite ) everything under the same channel name in order, you want all your subscribers in one place, oh and put Dometic Origo alcohol stove in the title, then anyone googles it or youtubes it, your vid is there, more views, possibly more subscribers!
Enjoyed the vid, !👍
Love this series 🎉
Brother, you keep cracking me up! Way to keep us entertained and watching your progress. Congrats on your subscribers blowing up too! Cheers from Colorado.
Thank you so much! I know the video could have been 5 minutes and a before and after, but where's the humour in that? I've gotta accept the fact that they won't be for everybody. Thanks for watching!
Greetings from Oregon, USA. An wise old sailor once told me that alcohol is only to be used for drinking! You proved insanity by buying a boat. Welcome to the insane world of owning a boat. Keep on letting us into your boat insanity. We understand, which makes us insane also.
😂😂😂 Thank you very much! If I run out of rum, it's a possibility 😂 thanks for watching!
The guys off “Ship Happens” gave me the heads up to your channel, glad they did now
Thank you! Simon and Gemma are bloody awesome!
When I first got my boat, I tried to cook on the alcohol stove. My pots leaked like a sieve and I didn't notice. I lit it up and it lit up. The whole stove was in flames. I didn't use the fire extinguisher, but it was darn close. The point of this story- do NOT drill a hole in the bottom of that stove. I lost my nerve with the alcohol stove and switch to a cheap coleman camper stove that fit nicely on top. Great video. Keep posting!
Cheers for the advice! I've only actually cooked on it twice 🙈
The screw driver made me laugh. I am loving the channel.
Cheers!
The oogererdangymythingy was well funny 😂😂👍
😂😂😂 Cheers max! You managed get out of spoons with Ian intact? 😂
I changed boats, always missed her, I now miss the alcohol stove. Fond memories. But the Gas cooker is very efficient lol.
I have an emergency gas backup if needed!
As somebody who works in R&D for Dometic (formerly part of the Electrolux brand), this vid is highly entertaining for me:)
Keep up the good work!
😂😂😂 Good! Thanks for watching!
Umm maybe a sponsor would be appropriate. Help the Bumbling sailor out.
Any plans to make new alcohol stoves again?
@@kingclayto I´m sorry, I can´t answer that- I´ve developed the A/C´s(FJX) and Venting-appliances(ACC3100) the last 3 years.
Mate, You are hilarious in your videos, proper entertaining! I cant believe i watched a half hour video of you cleaning a cooker lol. I think youtube is your calling! keep up the good work!
Thanks so much, I've gotta do something more than point at a stove to keep people entertained 😂 thanks for watching!
@@BumblingSailor lmao Terry
Same late to the party, But to watch you stirring the noodles with a flat head screwdriver and then eating with it just made me laugh my socks off rofl.... Keep up the good work and don't let the repairs get you down.......... It will come together.....
Keep the tank flat and pour the fuel through the mesh! Fast, easy and the right way to fill it :)
Someone mentioned that, for some reason I had it in my head that I'd read to do it the way I did. I probably got it completely mixed up 😂. Thanks for watching.
Managed Expectations,,lol. No one use that, im going to name my old scow that for sure, Bravo mate, you got me to watch you clean an old stove, bloody hell
😂😂😂 I don't know how anyone made it through 😂
Step one make a cuppa, step two sail around the world. Thanks for the video mate.
I'm going nowhere without the appropriate amount of caffeine 😂. Thanks for watching.
🤣😅😂😁 this whole video! Who knew that a screwdriver has so many uses! Using it to eat noodles has made it infinitely mo betta! 😋
😂😂😂 I'd forgotten about that!
Rough up the metal underneath that broken tab and see if some J B weld two part epoxy will hold it. If not by itself, then you can bolt or pop rivet it back and use J B weld to seal it.
Great shout, thank you!
Naa im not liking that unless you want to die.quick glue and others have cyanide in them.dont breathe that....
@@snorungar70 JB weld doesn't. You can read the data sheet on the chemicals that are in it and the safety info.
Epoxy isn't as bad as people seem to think it is.
Funny, great stirring the noodles with a screwdriver, must have worked in some of the same places as me.
I was a scaffolder for years, so I've done much worse 😂
00 steel wool and comet cleanser is a restorers best friend. Youre doin great!
Cheers!
I have exactly the same origo alcohol stove on my sailboat I had a propane stove before and replaced it with alcohol I feel safer and I love my alcohol stove Great video ⛵️👍
It's a great bit of kit 👍
Great, I loved it - have a Contessa myself and they are great boats. I think you are definitely clued up just minor piece of advice/suggestion: Whenever you drill any holes to the outside be it for sockets, instruments or small fittings do put screws in with sikaflex or even better anything that withstands the elements/salt water which are easier to remove later on. It safes you dealing with tons of tiny leakages later on when it is quite a bit of extra work finding and fixing them. Best of luck with your great plans!
Awesome, thanks!
Made me laugh couple a times, thanks! 😁
Yes! Thanks for watching!
You just keep following your dreams hopefully it will get easier
👍👍👍
Splendid - you did make me laugh!😄
😂😂 Thanks!

😂😂😂 Great idea! Like chopsticks for beginners 😂
Here is my comment and take an upvote. Congrats for the new subs and keep cranking out the great content. Best wishes from the south shore of Lake Erie.
Thanks so much, and thanks for watching!
Those flame diffusers (the rusty bits on top), will come off if you squeeze the legs together and wiggle a bit. Mine were missing, but I found a pair at a used parts chandlery. Since they don’t seem to be available, I made a paper template of them so I could have some made in the future when mine disintegrate.
Also, my canisters were contaminated and I was able to open them up and replace the batting inside. It’s a couple layers of mineral wool with a fiberglass wick in the middle. The top part of the canister just crimps on.
Excellent, thanks for the info! I may service the diffusers then!
I like your style bro , keep it up.
Cheers!
Stumbled across your channel - I really like your manner of presentation don't stop putting up content it is honest and real!
Thank you! I'll keep it going as long as I can.
Stick that cloth in the end of your drill, viola. Polisher.
Damn. Never thought of it 😂
The red Soba is my fav
They're awesome!
No better entertainment on UA-cam! 😂😂😂😂
That probably says something about UA-cam 😂😂
Lmao, you could use the bosch and a special polishing wheel that fits it. 😂💪🤘
That almost seems obvious now, dammit! 😂😂😂 Maybe next time! Thanks for watching!
Really appreciate this video mate. I've recently made a petrol coil stove that works pretty well but for my boat refit I intend on making myself an alcohol stove so it's great to see how this one worked.. thanks for the detail 👍
No problem! That would be a great little project! Best of luck with it!
Sod's law states that the part of the hob you polish the best will be the bit that gets hidden when you re-install it. Thanks for diverting me from watching The One Show.
😂😂😂 It most definitely will be, and glad to be of service! Thanks for watching!
Fun video, looking forward to Sundays, keep up the good work.
P.S- Cant believe how fast your channel is growing.
It's blown me away, honestly. I can't quite get my head around it. I'm just a fat plonker talking to a camera 😂. Thanks for watching!
Here for ep2. helping with the algo
Thank you!
You should put a buffing pad attachment on your wishlist ;-) As for watching you clean up your cooker, it's what you say and do and your humour that makes it compelling watchong. You're doing great, mate! Anyroad, I haven't chuckled this much a quite a while. Thanks!
Thank you! I'll have to get one.
This is pure natural goodness...
Keep it up, mate.
Cheers!
Watching you interact with the camera so naturally makes it feel like I'm video chatting with an old friend. Given the age of the stove, I think it came up very nice. I was a little worried about you having a misadventure due to fumes from the metal polish. Glad to see it went well. I liked your gourmet meal as well. There's nothing quite like cup noodles.
Twas delicious indeed! Thanks for watching,
Love the videos your down to earth way of doing Jobs is brilliant keep it up
Thank you!
Eating a "Pot Noodle" with a screwdriver, my tea just got sprayed over the carpet...hahahaha.......
😂😂😂 I'm not paying for the carpet cleaner! 🤣
Hey Bumbling, am just sorting myself out to buy a boat....boat number 3 for me. Just getting organised and will keep in touch how it goes. Just subscribed as i like your grounded way of doing things. Keep the vids coming and dont worry about slick editing, I want to see the good and the bad.
Awesome, thanks so much! I can only do what I can do 😂. Thanks for watching!
One of the most amusing vlogs on UA-cam. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I'll try!
I had an hunter minstrel with an alcohol stove. I ran out and couldn't find a place that sold it. In desperation I went into a pound shop and asked if they sold it. The woman said no but suggested an energy drink was probably less harmful for me. hehe hehe
😂😂😂
you crack me up and I couldn't help but subscribe. Keep it up and enjoy your new toy. Best wishes for your new year
Thank you so much! Hopefully I'll keep it up and not disappoint! All the best and thanks for watching!
Brilliant
Thanks!
Your cleaning methods align perfectly with mine, good enough!
Exactly! More pressing things to do. Like relax with a whisky! 😂
To coin a phrase.
"That's pretty dang spiffy."
Why thank you good sir.
And now my friend you have a pot for ya cup of tea win win 🤣🤣👍
Waste not, want not! 😂 Thanks for watching!
Loved the vid, the last few minutes had me laughing out loud!
😂😂 Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Appreciate the video! :) I've actually got the same burner on my boat i think. I'd never seen one and have to fix it up so i'll be using this as reference, ta very much :). I'm restoring the boat so it'll be a later 'project' unless i get desperate for tea then it'll be done quite quick! Cheers mate all the best.
😂😂😂 Coffee desperation was a driving factor for me! Really simple bits of kit, not much to go wrong I think. And they're bloody expensive to get hold of now! Thanks for watching!
Definitely enjoying your journey. Bought you a pint or two, definitely want to hear more about you and the why you're doing this. Don't stop, no time like the present! Just go.
Thank you so much! I may do that video soon. Cheers for chipping in, I really appreciate it!
I haven’t seen the suggestion yet so had to comment; use a thick piece of neoprene, lasts longer than silicone.
Great, thanks!
Lol my boat has a cupboard full of soba noodles - they are ace :) usually mix in some habenero tequilla BBQ sauce i picked up in Canada
Ooosh, that sounds awesome! I basically lived off them when I lived in the van. Bloody love um! Thanks for watching!
Hello from Kentucky in US. First time I've seen you. Love the way you're so down to earth. Subscribed & Liked and will be watching. Great Video. :)
Thanks so much!
Great noodle
Delicious!
Mine was in the same condition I used bar keepers friend shined up great.
I'll keep that in mind for when I inevitably ruin it again 😂 thanks for watching.
Loving vids, just started sailing myself and you're about 8 weeks ahead of me so priceless footage, RYA eat your heart out! One thing.. I bought the same burner as didn't fancy gas in a boat (especially a 50 Yr old boat). Previous owner had put a monoxide alarm in which I scoffed at, but burner sets it off before kettle has boiled.... Now back on gas, no prob! Unless of course it leaks! But worth a check, surprised me as so many use burners... Maybe just my burner? Anyway, best of luck, keep up the vids, fair winds and all that.. T.
It hasn't set mine off yet, but it does stink 🤷
Brilliantly put together Terry your talents are wasted 😂😂😂 on a serious note, if you haven’t already seen it you might get some great tips from Refit and Sail. Nothing in it about cookers!,
😂😂😂 Cheers! I think.... 🤔😂. Thanks for watching!
Take the funnel and put the alcohol in a soda bottle then our the contents of the soda bottle into the canister.
Bam
👍
Personally, I think propane is the best way to go. I would transfer the alcohol into a smaller container; something easier to pour.
It's awkward to get hold of in many places. You have to have adapters and stuff to get them filled etc etc, and you never end up with a full tank. Alcohol has better availability.
Now I want teriyaki pot noodle!😆
😂😂😂 They're pretty bloody good!
Fill your stove with the canisters flat. You are just asking for problems filling them the way you are doing it. Also, we fill them outside in the cockpit for safety. Understand your weather is atrocious right now so outside is not an option. Also, don’t overfill them and never try filling them when they are warm from cooking.
There is denatured alcohol and then denatured alcohol. The stuff specifically labeled for stoves burns cleaner. Of course, it is also more expensive.
Thanks for the advice. For some reason I thought I'd read to do it that way. It was probably the complete opposite knowing me. Thanks for watching!
We have found the stove to be fairly efficient with fuel. You will learn to recognize when fuel is low and how heavy the canisters are when filled but not overfilled.
You can certainly hold the canisters on an angle when filling but what you filmed was way too much. Try to slightly tip but not to the point where the canister is straight up on its side.
Stay with the circular hatches!! No corners to leek from and much stronger. You have a good start, forward is the only direction!will enjoy following you. I have a FREEDOM 28 and two circumnavigations.
Thanks for the advice! I'll be keeping them then! Thanks for watching!
Howdy from Dallas Tx😎
It’s bitter disappointment when you can’t restore a neglected shiny thing in a 34:20 video.
Small improvements, stay somewhat focused. You’ll get there, wherever that is🧐
I enjoy watching, thanks for the smiles😎
😂😂😂 Thank you!
“I’ll put this to one side and maybe make a stock…..” hilarious. Pls don’t edit anything …. We could watch you for hours. All the best from a fellow northerner.
😂 Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Brilliant I've been there
😂😂👍
Super jealous of your stove. My project boat came to me in the water so I had a laundry list of stuff to fix first that involved keeping her above the waterline. Am rewiring the DC right now... probably won't get to the galley till later this year. Am cooking on a camp stove right now. Have been looking everywhere for exactly what you have. I'll keep watching if you keep making!
Thank you so much! They're bloody expensive to buy, glad it came with it! Mine was in the water too, I've had her lifted myself. Thanks for watching!
Incidentally, dc wiring is next on the list, mine is covered in the 'green death' 😂
These things are amazingly useful. The alternative is getting LPG installed in ure boad which is a huge faf.. I ended up buying a second hand one similar to yours for 300 pounds for my seacracker. best decision ever.
A few people suggested switching to gas, but I disagree. From videos I've watched getting gas can be a faff indeed! I quite like the thing, it's staying! 😂. Thanks for watching!
I had an orrigo alcohol stove in my last boat and used silicone jar opener/grip to replace the deteriorated original cover for the canister. Worked great. You can order an oem replacement but very expensive compared to the silicone.
I was thinking of doing just that! Thanks!
SOS Pads would make it like new! Try it!
I'll bear it in mind, thanks!
Got the same stove. Yes get a sheet of silicone mat and trim to fit each burner, couple of layers might be needed to get it to close tight. I get bioethanol in 24 bottle packs of ebay as it works out cheaper than the purple meths and smells less. The ethanol is also super useful for cleaning stuff. You are lucky you have the fiddles that clamp the pot, they are pricey too.
Excellent, thanks!
You will do better filling with alcohol, turning the jug so the flow has the hole at the top.
I know, I usually do this, but the funnel was lower than the height of the bottle. I'll decant into smaller vessel first next time. Cheers!
Oh yes, origos are great, we have one too, but it’s not mounted on a gimball (🙁)!
Not sure about the exact alcohol you’ve got, but I learnt that adding a few % of water to the brands we use results in less soot on the kettles.
Cheers from Finland!
That's some great advice, thank you! Knowing me, I'll put too much in and it'll never light again 😂 thanks for watching!
I have a stove just like that in my Albin Vega, and I prefer heat resistant silicone because you don't have to let the stove cool down.
That's another bonus I suppose. Silicone mat it is! Thanks!
Pour some of the meths into a smaller bottle for filling the stove, it's a lot easier to handle than the big 5 litre bottle.
Some JB Weld from Screwfix would probably fix those two L shaped brackets back in place.
Great advice, I've ordered the jb weld. Thank you!
saw your last video- that was impressive, and quite a ship for a ferry
Yeah, very impressive! Thanks for watching.
Great Vid Terry, but Christ you’ve convinced me even a C32 is too small watching you in the 26..
😂😂😂😂 The 32 is much larger, much larger than 6ft would suggest. And also has standing headroom! What a luxury 😂
Baking soda mixed with super glue. Be strong as a spot weld.
Nice little hack! I've just ordered some jb weld though, people have suggested it. Cheers!
I’m late to the party, but loving it so far! Don’t have a boat of my own nor the skills to sail one so teach me Obi Wan. 🫣
😂😂😂 Don't do what I do is the best advice 😂
try metal weld two pack for that support thing that's broken from spot weld.
👍
One of my previous yachts had one of those, well it was the version with an oven too, it was awesome. No gas required, safe, and clean. FYI, they don't sell them anymore unfortunately so look after it! If you ever want to sell it, Ill buy it off you! Meths is fine, pure alcohol is better as it doesn't have a smell, but you can't buy it in the UK! Great video's, very entertaining!
Thank you!
Still loads for sale in nl
I think you may be a perfectionist in deep disguise😂
It's that good a disguise that it'd fool my mother then 😂😂
