You picked a fine boat. You can sail her as a fast cruiser or a moderate racer, either way you win. You made an excellent choice for a boat to learn the ropes. Don’t be intimidated by the racer moniker. You have done well again.
I couldn’t be more excited for you! What a sweet boat with room to spread out and some new sails too! Can’t wait to see the interior tour. You’re on your way!!
holy smoke... that is what we call an upgrade!
Well done sir. What a boat! Looks stunning. Hope the interview went well🤞 cant wait for next weeks video 😀
It did... I think 😂. I'll find out next week if I got the job or not I think. Cheers!
Those chines just give more form stability as the boat heels. The Scampi raced as a Half Tonner.
👍
We swedes are all for it :)
But also add some drag. That was how they sold us on moving from hard chines in the 1970s. I am partial to form stability, it can get you in a groove.
Very happy for you.. "a man with no boat is a prisoner" ❤
Really good boat. Per Norlin was a good designer of that era. Scampi's were on my shopping list but I ended up with a Beneteau 305, which is a bit more modern. You are going sailing. Have fun !
👍👍👍
She looks in a lot better shape. I hope to see you making it out on some of your weekends. Im sure She will feel a bit different than your last boat. For single handing having all the lines run back to the cockpit should make things easier. At any rate glad to hear that you have gotten your hands on such a fine looking vessel. Here's to some wonderful voyages, cheers. See you in the next one. Fair winds and following seas.
Thank you!
The Scampi 30 is a really great boat. A real modern classic for sure. Looks well equipped and in great shape too.
That is FAST boat.
👍👍👍
What an absolute beauty! You will love sailing that thing. Congratulations on a fine catch! About the backstay: Tighten it when going into wind in order to create bend in the mast and ad twist to the mainsail, tighten more when in stronger winds. When going downwind, ease the mast but never let it be slack.
That looks like a lively ride...fun fun. Lots to learn and will make you a good sailor.
Fantastic, Let the great sailing adventures begin!
Looks very well set up for solo sailing. Well done mate. Can't wait to see you out on the water again.
When you make it to the north pacific, I'll be waiting for ya! My town may be small (population around 500), but there's a dock literally right behind our pub downtown.
Hope to see you there!
Looks a cracking boat you've bought. At least this one is known to you and has been well maintained from what you've shown us. We wait to share in your sailing adventures. Good luck to you.
Best of luck with the jobbie interview
Cheers!
She looks great, so pleased for you. Don't try to do to much to quickly. Looking forward to see you moving forward👍👍
Congrats on your new boat Terry! Looks really nice! I’m looking forward to seeing what adventures you have in her. 🤔👍
She is beautiful and she floats, all a good start. Good luck with the new craft and sailing adventures. Fair winds 😊
Looks nice. Looking forward to seeing it in the wind. Good luck on the job.
I thought that backdrop looked familiar. I'm so happy for you, really looking forward to seeing you sailing again!
Lovely for you Terry 👍, no problem now in getting out under sail and should be easy for you to handle as well so you will soon be back living your dream 😊 .
Been following you from the beginning. So glad you did'nt give up on your dream.
I appreciate that!
Nice. I am very pleased your going to get to sail again. I'm looking forward to seeing you fly
Congratulations on the new boat! Looks great and I can’t wait to see the inside and to see you have lots more space for your longer sailing adventures. Best wishes from Bonnie Scotland 🏴
Cheers John!
Fair winds and following seas. Health to enjoy
What a great hull shape! Hanked on sails? My great grandfather would have nothing else. However that was 1895! I kid you not. He also thought that engines belonged in trains, only à fool would put one in a boat. He had 6 brothers on the sweeps.
Proper cool boat mate, looks fast just sitting in the marina.
Well.done Terry you have the boat you have talking about for a while now so good luck for the future especially with your jobs line up back to the boat you've landed I hope everything goes well with your interview and demetrious 😊😊
Not been keeping up much here but its sweet you're keeping going! Nice new boat looks well
Not a terrible boat at all. As long as you are sorted out for solo sailing and you don't have to dump a 3 years of labour into it to get sailing (sounds like not) then I look forward to your sailing adventures.
Best of luck with the new boat 👍
i love your positivity you have made my week i have had a beep of a week
Looks like a good find man, hope it gives you the joy you deserve. Keep the videos coming.
Well that is what I would call a Bumbling Sailor right there .lol. Lived up to the name alright.... One day we will get to see him go sailing on his boat, and what a big day that's gonna be, I've put a bottle rum aside for this day.
Keep on keeping on buddy we're all rooting for you.
Generally, you should tighten the backstay when going to the wind and loosen iet when going away from the wind. Tightening the backstay will increase weather helm though, so keep that in mind.
Thank you!
Great boat for you mate, great move👍👍👍
She looks beautiful. So happy for ya. Hopefully I be getting my yacht next year
That’s more like it than the poor old tired previous boat. Hopefully someone with time and the resources can deal with that one.
As to having a furler for your headsail, that’s a real bonus as opposed to hank on sails. The more sailing you do, you should find out how beneficial that is as a solo sailer. It’s the same as havjng all the lines back to the cockpit. It’s about not having to go forwards, and especially in crappy weather. Definitely get the lazy jack lines installed. It really makes a difference in dropping the main. And once you can afford it for cruising install a dodger and solar panels. You will need these.
A 30 ft boat is a way better option for cruising. My own boat is also a 30 ft racer cruiser (Swanson 30), built back in ‘74 and has competed in around at least 13 major offshore races, plenty of club racing as well as has been cruised extensively including crossing oceans.
Fair winds.
Welcome to the Albin Scampi 30 club.
I have owned my Scampi for 6 months now and I can't fault the boat at all.
Give me a shout when you come up to Shetland and we'll have a race.
😂😂 I get the feeling you'll win!
haha, I am more of a cruiser than a racer so you might do a lot better than you think.
Feel free to get in contact if you need any information about the scampi, I'm no expert but happy yo help out in any way I can.
I'd never heard of this yacht but reminds me of Nicholson 30, et al. Hope she's good to go. Roll on spring.
She’s a total cutie! You’ve done well!
Boat looks awesome, fun fact Scampi is one of my go to pub meals 👍
So excited for you!
Hope you got a survey done 😮
She's got a recent one 👍
Looking bloody good
Great to see... IMO this will be a better platform for living than the 26 ft Contessa... Cant wait to see you adventuring here shortly.
Yea that loks a lot better. Kind of simmilar to my own :)
Better luck with this one!
The perfect boat buddy 👍👍
Superb mate! Looking forward to seeing you get out there.
Edit: ooh fancy self tailing winches
Nice one mate, glad to see things are looking up. Keep up the good work, you always manage to make me laugh 👍
Adjustable backstays are great. Pull it tight in a gust and loosen it when the gust has passed. Depending on the boat the effect is almost as strong as putting in a reef
Look like great boat.💪
Looking great
Good luck with job hunting
Getting caught up on your videos, great channel brother, happy to see you living the dream, life has kicked me a few times in the nuts, each time I try to start.... hoping this year to find a boat in the med that would be a good fit for me (or anywhere really lol) Looking forward to more content from ya
Awesome, things will get better I'm sure!
@@BumblingSailor You have inspired me to take more action, I will go to visit some marinas in Turkey in May and see what I can find. I should film it for my channel! Thank you for sharing your journey, it has brought me back to focus on my own dream of living and sailing, I look forward to seeing your success.
Nice boat.
Nice !
I am glad you were able to see sense and get away from Demetrius, that boat was sucking at your soul and dragging you down bit by bit !
That is like hitting the jackpot! That is some solid swedish quality. But you must have gotten the deal of the century by Dan because I know what these boats go for and this one is in pristine state with new sails. And as the apparently single negative note in this entire comment section: a big theme of your videos is: "I'm broke, I'm broke and by the way, I'm broke" 😊 But I am actually happy for you, I know what it feels like to be skinned and boatless. Congratulations and fair seas to you.
I am, I haven't paid anything for the boat yet, and the berthing is paid for, for the moment. I can't afford either, so I haven't really thought this through 😂😂
Cant wait to see what you add to this one
Gonna take it easy with the additions this time 👍
Nice boat
Im with you on the hank on sails..sure they take up room but i still prefer them
A design Intended for very different sailing to the Conti though isn't it? Some of the Albin's have had mast step issues (basically rusting away) - particularly the very early 70's ones IIRC - worth a check if you haven't already.
Racing pedigree, light and fast.
Your right, she is awesome 👍👍
Congratulations! She looks tidy & ship shape, she's in the water...and she floats!
Who is she?
'Jeannie Stewart'. Named for Dan's great grandfather's trawler.
that is brilliant news a scampi 30 i have a scampi 30 myself based up in Watchet on the hard ut i am thinking on moving her down to tor point in spring to finish off work on her then launch in summer i have an original Farryman a30 with hydrolic system
That's awesome!
anemometer the wind instruments thingy at the mast head
Delighted for you and I wish you every success with this boat. Can't wait to see where this is going to take you and hopefully all goes well with the job interviews.
You have landed on your feet there! I bet you can’t wait to get out sailing again after all the faffing about.
Does this mean no more Jeff? But I am so glad that you have started to rise , keep fighting.
Jeff will always be our lord and savior! 😂
Fine boat bumbling sailor, god for you. Race the world
See you on the water in a couple of days... 🤣🤣🤣
Couple of days ago technically... 😂
Thanks
Thank you so much!
🤠👍
Long live
Fin.
😂😂😂
try to sail with the previous owner, he knows the boat best!
Are you living on it?
Yeah.
Does she have a name or is she called ‘The boat’? 😆
She's called 'Jeannie Stewart' after the trawler belonging to Dan's great grandfather. Named for his great grandmother. 👍
@@BumblingSailor Assume you’re keeping the name, or is she now Demetrius 2?
@@markplayford5836 Gonna keep the name as it means something to dan 👍
@@BumblingSailor Good decision Terry. 👍
Terry im supposed to be buying a 52 ft MOtOR YACHT on tuesday in hamble i'll try and find you on wednesday for a chat iff i can find you
Definitely, email me and we'll get it done 👍
Dude I thght u were like broke and bumbling, far from it. You know a ton about sail boats and to keep that thing anywhere is at least 1.5K pa. berth is at least three times that. Anyway very entertaining..very good.
I am broke, and bumbling 😂. I haven't paid anything for the boat yet. And the berthing is paid for, for now. (luckily)
i would love to do a video with you i have a herly 20 and would love to do the med i have sent you a mesage on mesinger
