    Considering this as my first shotgun. I see two styles available at my local sporting goods store. The one you feature, is it the "All-purpose" or "security" model?

    • @radiofreenewhampshire644
      @radiofreenewhampshire644  Рік тому +1

      Probably more similar to the all purpose. I started with a very base model and built from that. It is certainly more cost effective to buy the security model, but my build was done more for fun and demonstration than practicality.

    My Mossberg Maverick 88's packaging did not include a choke key. I purchased online from GunBuyer.com. I looked into the barrel before assembling and did not notice anything that could be removed. I removed the wooden stick from magazine, left the rubbers attached and placed back in the box for. Do you believe Mossberg Maverick 88's are alway shipped with "Accu-choke" installed? Or is it ever possible that it could be shipped without? Please let me know.
    Thank you.

    • @radiofreenewhampshire644
      @radiofreenewhampshire644  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Omar - if your variant of the Maverick has a “Cylinder Bore Choke” then it will not be removable. It is the widest possible choke and some variants of the Maverick are shipped with that style barrel. The removable choke would have two very small notches about 1/8th of an inch wide and deep opposite each other visible on the inside of the end of the barrel. It’s possible that a variation might not have a removable choke, but if your firearm is not listed as a cylinder bore choke, to verify I would contact Mossberg directly and ask.

      I read the summary page and you hit the nail on the head! It states..."Maverick 31023 88 Pump Security/Special Purpose 12 ga 18.5" 3" 5+1 Syn Stk Blk These 88 Special Purpose Security models have a 3" chamber, and either an 18.5" or 20" blued barrel with a fixed cylinder bore and a brass front sight bead barrel set in a rugged black synthetic stock with a ribbed forearm.

    • @radiofreenewhampshire644
      @radiofreenewhampshire644  3 роки тому

      Is it the fore grip or the dowel inside the magazine? If it's the fore grip, no it should not rattle. The wooden dowel will definitely rattle and can easily be removed if you wish to remove it (as most do).

      @radiofreenewhampshire644  3 роки тому +1

      @@nicolasfarah2092 the choke is the device that modifies the disbursement pattern on the business end of the shotgun barrel. An adjustable choke would allow you to make adjustments to the pattern, either restricting it so that it is small and focused or expanding it for a wider area of coverage. At “full choke” there is more restriction, and I believe that the thought is that full choke might impede the slug enough to either wear down the choke itself or even damage the choke or barrel. You can probably remove the choke altogether and replace it with a non-restricted choke, remove the choke and not replace it at all (although the is may be unwise as the threads that are used for the choke would likely be damaged) or open the adjustable choke to full open and fire slugs safely.
