A family member bought recently so I came to research for them. Those dummy rounds are genius for practice. Thanks for the upload and btw how has yours held up? Any good times at the range?
Also interested in getting them a sling for it that one no one can pull it away from them if there was a burglar or killer in the house
I just bought this gun an hour ago. This is my first gun and I'm so glad I found your video. This is the most informative, and we'll thought out video. Thank you very much for making this
No problem, glad you liked it.
@@PeterGoesINya I just bought mine and hour ago too. Only shotgun i ever used was my buddys over under for skeet shooting. Other than that it'll be my first time firing a shotgun. When I get it after the stupid 10 day commiefornia waiting period, Of course.
Watched for the same reason lol. Got one today
i too just bought this gun an hour ago but i get to wait 10 days because california is gay and they think im gunna kill myself
Haha me too!!!!!!
Husband bought me the 500 years ago for protection when he's away. Your video is a great refresher, it's informative, straightforward, not to technical... perfect! Thanks!
Just don't shoot your damn foot off!
Thank you! Very clear directions. I am looking at buying the Maverick 88, 20” barrel, 7 in the tube, 1 in the chamber. Here in PA $250. Still a good price.
Just bought one . Got it home and had no idea how to load it ! Bless you man ! Feel much more confident now!!
This is a great video. I appreciate you not coming across as condescending or like you’re talking to a child. You come across more like a bro just talking to another bro. Thanks for being cool.
I appreciate that!
Don’t mind the ones who hit the thumbs down or the naysayers. The video is informative, direct, shows the right angles and demonstrated perfectly for anyone to learn. All without a fancy 3-minute intro or overbearing music throughout. Nicely done.
I just bought my Maverick 88 pump shot 12 gauge about a week ago and I absolutely love it!
Thank you for the vid, wasnt able to find anyone showing the basic operation till now
You may find both the feed and ejection ports can be quite sharp on the current Mavericks. A few gentle minutes with a set of jewellery files can remove the razor edges and prevent finger injuries.
I did find that out. Good idea.
I love these shotguns, I have one with a top folding stock and another one with the 18 inch barrel and dark earth furniture. They are reliable and you can't beat the price
Thanks, dude. I found your video helpful and informative. A few criticized it for its length ... but if you're holding the gun in your hand, with the dummy rounds to practice loading and unloading, walking thru the process and listening to the explanations ... my opinion is this is about the right speed. Like a short class. Cheers. Thanks.
He's used to being criticized for his length. Or lack thereof I should say.
This helped me in 2023
I got this same shotgun last week. My first shotgun. Thanks for the video. I learned a lot.
I really appreciate you making this video!! Very helpful.
Mighty helpful, thank you!.
I've never liked shotguns but thanks to youtube recommends and the price and reliability of this beauty, I just have to have one!
Yes! Thank you for this ‘shotgun for dummies’-type video! Love it! I am in California and just picked up the Maverick 88 three days ago (3/14/23) after having to wait 10 days. While I own a revolver and a pistol, this is my first long gun/shotgun. Mine does have the butt stock but obviously no other difference. I did order dummy rounds from amazon as well because the place where I bought the gun plus two others DID NOT have them in stock in 12 gauge caliber?!? So once I get them, I will replay your video as I handle mine then eventually take it out to a range…. Thanks so much!!🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍
God if I lived in CA I would turn the gun on myself! Don't they have some ridiculous laws where you need a background check and permit to buy ammo now?
Thinking of getting one of these for home defense so I’m glad I came across your video. Always good to research before making the purchase! Thanks 🙏
Thank you young man for sharing this very informative video on the Mossberg Maverick 88, I just bought one and your video showed how to operate it and being safe with it. Shout out from Leroy Ohio keep it bud and thank you for your service.
Just bought this gun myself. Thanks for the quick explanation!

LOL picking mine up tomorrow, and this was way better than waiting to read the instruction manual (in the meantime). Thanks!
Have fun!
This is the best video I've seen. Thank you so much! This is what I needed.
Glad it was helpful!
I needed this, Im not new to shooting, but I always like to have a visual idea of what I'm doing with a new gun before I take it out.
I feel the same way about sex with a woman.
Very good video man. Thank you for explaining how to use this. I just picked up one today.
No problem 👍. Be on the lookout for my concealed carry review of the Sig Sauer p365 this week.
Great video! Definitely helpful Thanks 👍🏼 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I just picked up my Mossberg 88 Combo (18.5 & 28" barrels) yesterday. The Combo was only $20 more than the 18.5" alone. Your video helped a lot. Thanks.
Good stuff

love the academy folder on the side lol, I also got my maverick 88 from academy, I got it to introduce folks to sporting clays with it and this way they have a shotgun they can familiarize with

Glad it helped
This is really helpful, buying my first gun tomorrow,
Just learn about any weapon you buy and get training / instruction before you use it.
Great video! 🙏
thanks!
Thank you sir 🤝
Great video
Great video!
I know!
I learned using an Ithaca 37. With it, and the Remington 870, you can leave the safety on, press the action release and raise the lifter up under the bolt with a free finger. Then press the shell stop inside the action and the shells in the magazine will come out one at a time. You will have to press the shell stop each time for each shell in the magazine. Once the magazine is empty press the action release and cycle the shell out of the chamber. Always make sure the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction and the safety is on.
Helpful thanks
Glad to hear that
Excellent video 🎉
I know!

Great job brother.
Much appreciated
Thank you!!!

Thanks for the free education. If the video could wrap up with a full combat speed live demo, that will be perfect!
Bro just bought mine yesterday at academy got it same day my first gun. Got it for 230$

You're welcome!
Very nice to Clear.

You're welcome
I thought my maverick was defective because I can't rack it off, thank you for this video. Very informative.
You bet
Thanks for all that info bro, just bought it and I really liked how you explained everything!
Glad it was helpful!
Good info
Glad it was helpful!
I just started my 10 day process 🤦🏽♂️I’m in cali lol. But I got to hold it and everything today when I went in to sign the papers and realized that I didn’t know anything on how to use it. Also the first I’m my fam to own a gun so UA-cam is the way I’m learning! Thank you
Go down to a gun range and take a class on how to use it. Get proper training on how before you hurt yourself.
Thanks for the advice, thankfully I have a whole bunch of people who I work with who have years of experience shooting. I didn’t know they were gun owners until the conversation came up and they’ve taken me under their wing lol. Went from shooting nothing to shooting something of every caliber. But I still got a lot to learn.
Great video….
Thanks brother
No problem
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
Plenty good for the price I buy them when I'm bored and don't want to spend a fortune. Running a birds head on my 8 shot. Took off ati pg folding stock. Overall my 500 is built better than both of my current Mavericks but that's where price comes in.
Just purchased one and the mini clip adapter
Thank-you. Now I'm a little bit informed.
Good!
Minis go well with the pistol grip
There is also a little tab located where you load your shells on the bottom to the side you can push and it'll eject the shell back one at a time. No need to rack it to unload an 88. Feel for it because it's almost flush to the metal. Just watch your finger it springs the shell back fast. For anyone who wants a quick and to the point explanation.
It's really hard to push the tab in. Especially the first of 5 shells in.
This is my truck gun but I have a pistol grip forend as well.
Did you say 5+1? That looks like the 20" 7+1 model with a pistol grip on it. Also, you don't need to cycle rounds through the action to unload it, you can manually depress the shell stop through the bottom of the receiver and take them all right back out of the magazine tube.
Curious why you come to watch a for beginners video how to unload and load a shotgun when you are apparently an expert already? Do you have nothing better to watch on UA-cam?
@@PeterGoesINya
he's stealing my thunder
Just got one, thank you for the video. Do you have to hot load the first round? Or can you start with all them under?
Either or it is your choice.
Good clear video thanks man
No problem 👍
Thank you. I bought this for my home protection. Single female. I was a little scared to load it
be careful not to shoot your lady parts off!
check out the 20 gauge! @@patriotcountry4716
While I've never owned a gun before, I live in america and would love to own something like this. I really think a shotgun like this is perfect for me.
Um, I would suggest getting professional training before you enter into the firearm world. Most people like you make that mistake, these are no joke.
@@PeterGoesINya I'm well aware of the fact that fire arms are no joke. But I will still take your advice.
Be careful not to shoot your mule off!
yes especially short barrel shotguns! without a strap on the fore grip you can easily blow your hand off! they all should be made with a front strap!@@PeterGoesINya
How do you blow your hand off,its no where near the end of the barrel?? Do you mean if your hand slips, while pumping?@@MizeryScratcher
Hopefully I’m going to get one I don’t know where from but glad I watch this video, does anyone have any recommendation from where to buy a moss berg 88
In Texas, all you have to do is go to Academy sports. Easy as that. Now liberal hellholes like CA, NY, NJ, etc....another story. You will have to draw blood, apply for 100 licenses and feel like you waited 10 years before you can think about walking out the door with one.
I got mine today from academy and 200 rounds. Going shooting next Sunday. I even ordered the same dummy rounds to get a feel for it before I use live ammo. It won't be here for a few more days so I bought a 2 pack from academy to get me started
@@PeterGoesINya thank you, thank god for Texas
7 pluse 1 in the chamber 20inch 12 ga mavrick 88
Yeah this is a great video. Thanks 🙏
Would you recommend this for home defense in a apartment? What kind of shots would be best? Great vid. Cheers!
The pump sound alone will make anyone stop dead in their tracks.Yes especially for an apartment. A normal handgun that uses say 9mm would be risky if shot in close quarters where you have neighbors on the next wall over. The reason shotguns are the choice for home defense in the shell spread out when shot. The chances of it penetrating through a wall and killing an innocent person are reduced. Plus shotguns cover a wider net and don't require as much skill as a handgun to hit a target much less in the dark or low lit situation.
Lots of balls in the cartridge the better 😂
That's what she said!!!
As a Californian wait 10 day's and pay for background check plus high taxes. A regular high point 9mm altogether $321
I feel sorry for you....my best advice, escape that hellhole of a state!
