Removal of the factory stock/grip and fore-end and installation of Magpul's SGA stock and fore-end.
Model of shotgun in the video is the Maverick 88 Cruiser
SKU #: 31080
This works with all Maverick models, granted you get the correct Tube Assembly for your shotgun's tube length and gauge as well as the correct Castle Nut.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Magpul SGA stock and fore-end
- Mossberg 500 12 gauge 7 3/th inch Tube Assembly (6 3/4th if you have a tube shorter than 20 inches.)
- Mossberg 500 12 gauge Castle Nut
The hex key is included with the stock for installation, and so is the spacer.
The spacer for the fore-end is included with the fore-end.
The tool to screw and tighten the castle nut is included with the fore-end.
The process for the Tube Assembly also applies for any other fore-end for the Mossberg 500/590 you want to install, and isn't specific to Magpul.
One of the best narrations I’ve heard. Thanks for the video.
He did mention some solid points.
@@EZ_CaseI didn’t hear any good points
it was absolutely incredibly articulate
I was just thinking. "where that accent from?"
Thanks for posting this! I did this swap today; I had some issues getting the action tube assembly in place correctly but eventually got it all figured out.
Of course! I'm glad it helped out.
I can see it’s straight forward but it does takes a lil patience at times.
Whats the SKU for the buttstock? I remember the safety is different on the 500, wondering if the stocks are different for the 88
All 500 stocks work both ways between the 88 and the 500 as it doesn't involve the safety; Any 500/590 compatible Magpul SGA stock will work on the 88, just make sure it's for Mossberg and not Remington.
@@hexcyx2277 righteous!
I just did this… where was your video when I needed it earlier? Nobody else has the action slide tube instal with the pistol grip instal! Does your forend wiggle side to side at all? Mine does and I was hoping it would be eliminated with the upgrade.
the wiggle is normal
I'm glad it helped you out; The wiggle is totally normal, it's typical in Mossberg shotguns, and I wouldn't worry about it.
Love the music in this video. Who is the artist?
anybody knows if this will fit on the 20 gauge
Thanks, simple but effective
I'm glad to have helped!
i got a 88 with the 18.5 inch barrel can you send link to the action tube
Try eBay!
I need this for my Maverick 88. Where did you buy this? Thanks!

This is the FDE of the set, very good deal right now for it.
There's Grey, Black, FDE, and Orange for the furniture.
The Tube Assembly is 7 3/4th" long and is required for the forend to fit, and also needs a castle nut to keep everything in place.
So all in all you need:
- Magpul SGA Stock
- Magpul SGA Forend
- 7 3/4th" Tube Assembly
- Forend Castle Nut
@@hexcyx2277 oh great! Thank you.
Dis you install it yourself? Is it easy?
I can't get this video to play audio for some reason.
Okay so on the hand guard I saw it’s read moe 590. So a 590 hand guard will work on the maverick 88 ?
Absolutely, you just need to buy a 7 5/8th tube assembly and castle nut and replace the maverick 88 foreend. Be warned, this process requires you to take the entire shotgun down and remove the foreend alongside the action arms that are pinned into the foreend and take the bolt, elevator, bolt slide, interrupter, and stop out of the shotgun, then install the tube assembly and reinstall the elevator first, bolt, then make sure your bolt slide sits into the bolt but also aligned to the tube assembly cut outs on the action arms. Then put pressure on the bolt slide and bolt and shift it to where it would lock up to the barrel normally, then reinstall your stop and interrupter.
After all of that, slide the Magpul foreend onto the tube assembly, make sure it snaps into the slots on the assembly, then afterwards screw the castle nut to the tube assembly and it'll be finished.
@@hexcyx2277 i am trying to add the magpul forend to my maverick 88.. it was my understanding that the size of the action slide tube assembly i would need to purchase would be 7-3/4 inches... and ofcourse i would need the action tube nut....
is what you are speaking about here a different situation... in regard to the size of the action slide tube?
my first shotgun + customizing so i am still learning... thanks for taking the time to read this and your reply btw, appreciate it
@@moistmansion6927 The shotgun in the video is the Cruiser model with the matching length 20 inch barrel and magazine tube. 7 3/4 is required for that model and any other model that is 20 inches for the tube and barrel. I'm not 100% sure about the 18.5 inch models as their tube is shorter than the 18.5 inch barrel.
@@hexcyx2277 ohhhhh! That actually helps a lot thank you. I’ve got the 18.5 maverick 88 with folding stock so you might’ve saved me here from making a costly mistake and wasting a lot of time. Really appreciate your reply man👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@moistmansion6927 I'm glad to help!
How did you mount the light and the for grip?
MLOK picatinny rail.
Thank you and 1 last question! How many slots for the rails, for the light and the angle grip
Yeah can u answer that question how many slots ?
Where can I find the grip as well can u drop the link
Wheres the sound? What parts are what?
that furniture cost about as much as that shot gun cost.
Is this video supposed to be muted?
It is, yeah
does it wobble like the stock forend?
Can this be done on 20 gauge
yeah why not
Whats up with the sound ?
Unfortunately there's no sound in the video, so I tried making the process as visually clear as possible.
If you have any questions about a specific part, I'll try my best to explain it.
What is butts stuck name
Magpul SGA 590 stock in FDE
Interesting how to video, but in my options you talked to much.
I have a 500 with a maverick 88 action
I've never tried that before, what's it like?
@@hexcyx2277 well I bought it that way I’m gonna call Mossberg and get the 500 action tube which is 70$ on eBay smh
OMG IK U-
Omg.. I know you too, crazy!!
Idk man. Just save another month or two and buy a 500 or 590
What a waste of time and money just get a 590 you would be better off.
This modification is primarily geared towards people with the Maverick 88 already.
It would be a 210 dollar investment for everything not including the gun itself to bring it up to what's in the video.
As opposed to having to buy a whole new shotgun (460) and the furniture set (140)
totaling 600 or 540 if you sold the factory furniture set.
If you didn't have a Maverick 88 already, the Mossberg 590 would be the better choice overall given you had the budget.
I did this, got a Maverick 88 on sale for 160 with 2 barrels. Got the forend, slide tube and nut from Midwest gun parts for less than 70 bucks. I use a pistol grip and the safety location of the Maverick 88 is actually more convenient for me to use compared to the tang safety on a 590.
Every body got an opinion.....no one said he had to spend his money and do the same....awesome video.
I’ll take the 88 over the 590 and then take all the extra money I saved and buy ammo. But that’s me. You do you.
