#chevrolet #corvette #review - Авто та транспорт
I just wanna say Paul, 3.4 seconds is a really impressive 0-100kph if it was indeed tested without the 'usual' 0-100 shenanigans. I mean, omitting 1-foot rollout time of 0.2 seconds, that kinda stuff.
It's a sad day when something weighs 'only' 1600kg
But just think about how much benefit you get from the 1600kg! I mean, don't get me wrong, I've heard the Colin Chapman quote 'if you wanna go faster everywhere, make the car lighter...' But, just offering the glass-half-full side, look how amazing modern cars are compared to the cars from the 1970's! Crumple zones, they can go 240mph+, yet still be safe enough to save your life when you crash at 100mph!
finally we can see this car for more than two years it took forever since 2020 but i really like the paint job which is gray with white stripes
Great video as always. I love your reviews, so easy to listen to, engaging and relatable. I’m a car buff and you cover absolutely everything. Best reviewer there is 👌👌
I agree the review is like being in the pub talking to the owner.
Another wicked review, thank you!
I love the design..... and I do agree it's cheaper then European. ❤️❤️
I feel the corvette is worth the price and has managed to be in the same class of the super cars , love that you can modifiy it to your own specs and for someone like me who enjoys racers then its worth it a victor racing stat wing and its a machine
My Sprint will keep up with this, as well as some HSVs. This car isn't that fast.
'IRWIN' as a number plate would be perfect for this car
I followed one recently and was stunned at how different the car looks when you are sitting behind it when compared to all the pictures and videos. This is a car that is much better in the metal. I could live with one of these. But it would be an addition not a replacement of my other cars.
These are reasonably priced in the US which makes the interior quality and spec acceptable. But at $160k not sure can be forgiven. Great they keep building unique cars though.
Indeed. We normally get screwed on all American cars and prices are high due to conversion to RH drive, when it factory RH drive the potential savings should be passed onto the consumer. TBH it’s not going to me a buyers market for many years.
Exactly! It costs $680k in my country.
145,000 base price or 100,000 US Dollars, in the US 75,000.
@@ozzierockets1163 isn’t it with all cars? A BMW M3 is almost a third cheaper (after currency conversion) in the USA. Over here in the Banana Republic how many taxes do we have? Honestly with no cars being manufactured here anymore, the import tax should be scraped
Really? In terms of what $165k will buy you in Australia, it's great value
Paul, this model reviewed looks sensational. Love the lines.
Gees it sounds sooo good! 3.4 seconds is damn quick!! I've always like the Corvettes and this looks good... kind of mix of a McLaren / Ferrari from side on and the front, but from the back it's unmistakably a big brutal Corvette! Wish you'd given it a real fang and really tested that go faster pedal! 🤣😂
The looks are absolutely fantastic.....
Bro... i just wanna say I appreciate you saying "z71" after "zed71"... from an American living in Australia. I understand both, but just, appreciate it, is all.
Hey Paul! Thanks for your great videos! When do you get your Ford 150 Ranger Raptor?
The back just is a piece of art, what a design.
Nice. Really nice. Looks good, sounds great and goes like a cut cat! I’d buy one! 😄
I had to pause when the, fits golf clubs section came up. I laughed out loud, thank you 😃
Bang for bucks this thing is hard to beat. The Z06 will be insane, I seem to remember the CE writing staff (in another publication) reporting test mules twisted the chassis so much it cracked the rear glass, it’ll be crazy good.
GM USA has put the prices up on all Corvette's RRP for a 2LT is now closer to $160K not $145K
Now I have one on order and my order includes the following insane taxes: $8.9K stamp duty, $25.7K LCT and $14K in GST
We Aussies get massively screwed over. the Same Corvette in the US is around USD$82K
Lastly, the GT1 seats are far more comfortable to sit in. Good review
Another great review Paul! However, my ever present (vehicular OCD) picked up a few misaligned panels and interior features...especially the red stitching along the centre console facing the passenger... Otherwise, not a bad vehicle all round.
Awesome looking car Paul.👍
the c8 looks amazing. especially the HTC version
I think that's the most excited I've ever seen you.
is chris atkinson going to chuck this around qr for his take on the c8 ? haven't seen a track review in a while
It looks great
Amazing car, incredible value. If I didn't need any practicality this would be near the top of my list.
Great video
Being a right handed person and living in the US, I notice the awkwardness I would feel while looking at the screen and the controls. But, I can also see that this would not limited to this car. The screen in the US vesion is not blocked and the controls feel more fluid since I can rest my arm on the console if needed. I've had my car for almost a year and have put 6.5k miles on it. Long trips are very comfortable! Highway mileage from a midwest trip yielded high 20's in touring mode. I like the Alexa built in capabilities to allow voice request with Amazon Music. The front lift is an amazing feature, you can remember 1k spots with GPS coordinates and it will automatically raise when it gets close (under 25mph). This is very helpful at steep driveways, paking lots and other hazzards. The front camera is a must when parking anywhere. You can see the fron splitter and prevent damage. The rear view mirror that is ran by a camera in the coupe is great however the HTC loses the camera functionality it when you drop the top. The PDR can be set to automatically record when the car starts and is highly recommended. Another option is the Key FOBs, each key automatically sets the recorded seat positions for entry and exit. My wife has her settings and I have mine. I have yet to try launch control but people are posting 2.9-3 sec 0-60 times. It took me 22 months to get my car after putting down my deposit! I did place my order way before production started and the US market had various delays. We had Covid, part shortages and a GM Strike.
Enjoy!
oh yes. after two years of waiting, the new c8 corvette has finally landed in the land of down under
The 3.4 is impressive.
Worth the wait and has Aussie input would have liked a leather steering wheel.
l have a leather wheel in my SS and it still looks great.
No stripes with the standard wheels look good.
G’day, I’m Paul 😂😂😂. Love the sign!
Looks like a beast
Very nice Car Expert👍
When you say that in Australia you get Z71 performance package standard at 0:45, what you meant to say was the Z51 package, right?
I love this car and as a Corvette guy, I have been waiting for the day that GM finally allowed the American Sportcar to be built in RH Drive. Just wish GMSV had more allocation at the plant and that more cars were available. I would have a blue one 3LT, but I would be waiting for the warranty to run out so I could drop a Whipple Supercharger on it. This is the way GMSV should be bringing in all their line up, as a factory right hook car. Imagine how many Silverado's they would sell if they were factory right hook and if they were cheaper because they didn't have conversion costs included in the sale price. Hopefully GM doesn't confuse their lack of supply to our market as lack of sales and interest and cancel the Corvette for us...The Vette is a really cool car and I would have one in a heart beat if I had the coin to shell out.
A repeating theme - “the heating and cooling controls lined up on the wall confuse me.” Always makes me smile. As if lining them up on the dash makes them somehow easier to find. People just love to complain. Of course you’re a bit confused, you’ve spent 5 minutes with the car. Things will normalize quickly if you own one.
God bless you for including timestamps.
Ive alawts wanted one of then they are so so cool i saw on the other day
Great Review - In my C8 - Average Highway MPG I usually get 25 MPG (US Gallons). When I'm Driving the C8 like I'm driving a hybrid - I can get 33 MPG (US Gallons). The noise issue - depends what tires you have - Since you have the Z51 - you have the warm season tires - noisier than the all season tires I have on the Non Z51 option). Also if you turn the Mangna Ride to the soft settings and the exhaust to quiet - it can get remarkably quieter in the car.
Also diff ratios are different.
I'll admit I have never been a fan of this car but this video changed my mind. Actually seeing it in three dimensions rather than still images shows what a good looking thing it is. It may not have the panache of a 911 or R8 but for the price I can forgive the build quality and interior quibbles as it fulfills the function of being fast, fun and sounds awesome!
Saw my first one in the flesh outside Southern Cross Station in Melbourne on Sunday just gone. Much more inpressive in the flesh, especially from rear 3/4. Its a seriously sexy car in person.
In ceramic Matrix with a black roof it is downright sexy.
Not sure where you got pricing from but in qld dealers are claiming $200k drive away price which is ridiculous compared to US prices
Brilliant 🥳🥳🥳
Would love to see a comparison with the Mustang Mach 1.
I'm an American in Australia, and that's precisely why I'm planning on moving back to TN! Because cars are so important to me! Also why I want to move to Chattanooga, TN, because it's so close to tail of the dragon! Eventually, in like 20 years.
In 20 years they'll have electric autonomous cars with speed limiters and GPS policing if you break the law. Maybe they'll still have track days for ice cars.
@@Malc664 Honestly, bro, maybe you have that perspective as an Australian. I'm making a lot of assumptions with that statement, so be sure to correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect you haven't lived in any other countries besides Australia. And LIVED was a purposeful word choice there. Because if you haven't LIVED elsewhere, you don't really get the full idea. I've LIVED in both Korea, America, and Australia. While I'm sure in Korea and Australia, that would be true, that is PRECISELY why I want to move to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Because in 20 years I suspect they won't have such dystopian measures like speed limiters and GPS policing.
Bye
Come'on you miss the ' guns '. LOL.
Hey Paul, I have heard, unconfirmed, but I have heard that there IS indeed a difference for cars converted from LHD to RHD locally as opposed to at the factory. Because those converted at the factory do have small differences, like the fact that there are some things that CAN'T be converted locally. The hood latch (or bonnet latch, as you call it XD), is still on the passenger side on cars converted locally, because as you know most car production facilities are in LHD countries so they can't change that when they convert the cars locally.
many RHD vehicles in Australia still have LHD equipment, like bonnet latch and wiper stalk.
They could easily squeeze a couple more inches out of that infotainment screen by trimming those fugly bezels.
I just skipped to the 'on the road' section and I'm so glad I did because that reminded me of why I love OHV engines so much. The LS engines in particular. Because they combine all the modern bits (being all-aluminium, for example), with all the good things about an OHV engine in the first place. It's so compact, because of the pushrods, and although it's 'old technology' as some like to call it, it genuinely makes more horsepower/liter of displacement the engine takes up!
I agree only geek nerds worry about all the tech crap when it’s about the car and noise.
I'll be getting one .... just soon as my Lotto numbers come up.
The best thing about this car is every journalist has a genuine smile and excitement while driving it. Cant say that about any other car starting at $60K USD (model shown is about $85K USD)! but $160K is too steep.
I wish my 69 C3 Vette had the front camera, It would have saved the Hilux towball dent in the bumper while moving inline at the servo. And as for C8 not having all the lane change autonomous safety stuff is because most people that can drive would only turn it off anyway.
It is better than I thought
How can launch control work in drive mode normally it can only be used in manual or sport
In track mode it shifts on its own when launch control is used unless it's in manual mode. Then it holds gears.
Crazy to think this is the only factory RHD GM product available in 2022
Who cares about infotainment when you have a V8 Vette
I like to know with different ratios of the differential
Hey Paul 👋
Please review 4runner
Haha, that is totally true Paul, if you're buying this looking for an economic run-about, you're buying it for the wrong reason :)
Look beautiful car, at that price point I might just stick to my rf mx5
Great Review as always. The outside design shows the unashamedly aggressive... the interior not that flash. For the price I can think of 50 other cars ahead of this.
I can't even think of 5 cars ahead of this.
Please list 50 other cars ahead of this for the same price please I’d love to see
None of which beats this in looks or performance 😂
This is a rocket on wheelz
I wud need to put in Z06 parts in it if i ever buy it.
It looks great. Works great. Is it reliable? Who knows!
Can you store roof in the car when it’s off ?
Yes, it fits nicely into the rear trunk. It has snaps to hold it securely. You don't have much room to put anything else in there since I am afraid to scratch the top.
Wow! 3rd gear only goes to 130km/h? That is really short! Some benefits to switching from manual to auto, I guess :)
Wow where did you get this car
Press car supplied via GMSV Australia.
Same car been reviewed by every motoring journalist in Australia
If I was 30 years younger and could squeeze into this car I would be making room in my garage.
That's really impressive that with the LT2 they finally reached 100Nm per litre! I remember with the LS1 it was around 530 Nm, for 5.7 litres. So it definitely was close, but it's just cool it finally hit that accomplishment!
our heavily detuned variants in the vt ii barely made 450nm
It should be good their considering it started it’s life at Lang Lang (black jack)we set this thing up.their is a shield in their prototype area (port melb)to show we started this project
For me I like the old ones better, this model is 50/50 for me. Love it but do not love it maby the next model is better then this one. Can there be a chance that you can do a MUSTANG GTR 500 2020?
Gr8 video prefer convertible 3LT in Orange
well good video , its a sports car so things are going to be different ,sounds nice , like any vehicle if you have a job for it , it would work if you like it , would look better in a bright colour , maybe , bit of fun . if you have a loose $150k or so .
Paul, is this an old video or do you still have your supra set as your background image lol
American muscle cars are perfect for Australia & her roads in the same way they are for the US’. A lot of the tiny European cars just don’t cut it for our roads. Also no matter what anyone says most women don’t like the tiny euro cars either (obviously not counting the big dogs like Ferrari or Porsche).
Register the car in Queensland
Seems like it’s not obligatory to have a front number plate here.
So many driving on the Sunshine Coast without one. 🤷🏼♂️
Imagine that engine in a new Holden Commodore...
I'll have one in blue 🙂
In the age of Action cameras able to do up to 5.3K in res at 60fps that incar camera footage looks aweful. Slow FPS low quality. great idea but with the cost of these things one would think they could have done better.
No way! It’s really genuine factory RHD and not a re-engineered car?
Yas!
If you had told me 15 yrs ago GM would build the successor to the original NSX I'd not believe you, but here we are. Double wishbone front and rear, NA engine mid ship, aluminum construction, cheap to maintain. Wow
FIRST
Good work Paul
Love the car, however I'll keep driving my VF Commodore, as the price is out of my range.
My too, will keep my 380.
$140k-$160k? I cant find one under $270k
$270k is for a locally converted car from American Imports..
Nice one not really a fan of the red interior I like red stitching probably a bit much read still nice though instead of the red maybe that brown baseball colour
I like the looks
Rear wheel drive but the engine sit at the back... so its plenty of traction
This model still has powerful electric motors for the front and rear axles, so... High Performance.👍🏼 💪🏻😎
Or (electric supercharger) for V8 engine. 🤔
I like when you say costs $160k if that's too expensive for you the range starts at $145k. That's what I still call expensive lol.
Z51, not Z71
The interior trim and seats are made by the SAME manufacturer that does Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini, etc. Funny how you guys never criticize the interiors of those cars. Typical anti American bias. I have a 22 C8 and I love it. Instead of reviewing cars, you people down under need to get your government under control!
Lovely car but pointless in the Andrew's state where the limit can be reached in first gear.. Great for cruising on our 80km/hr 4 lane freeways. Also Paul the 992 interior is notoriously loud..
Paul who gives a rats backside about the infotainment system, it’s all about listen to that awesome engine and not the gadgetry.
So Grandma could drive it to the shops?
I think the advice that you can put your phone in a cup holder is pretty useless. Any acceleration or deceleration is gonna send your phone banging around and likely onto the ground. Imo moving forward it shouldn't even be considered as a place to store your phone (nitpick, i know)
Somebody's daily driver
love the review but i would still select R8 AWD performance or GTR nissan
How much are the GTR?
Can't believe they bother to make it in RHD.
Paul find me one for $165k il buy it tomorrow
The markups on these things in the USA are ridiculous
Steve Irwin would be like " yeah, nah "
If it was called ' stingray ' he would be all over it.
Not a big fan of the new exterior design
