THIS is a man. More specifically, a 1988 Doug Demuro. And today, Im going to go over his quirks and features, then take him out on the road to see how he drives. THEN, we will give this Doug a Doug Score. Starting with the exterior, this 1988 Doug Demuro comes with a 2-tone color scheme. On the top, a grey shirt with the logo of the "Portland Sea Dogs" on it, and on the bottom, beige pants. An interesting color choice, and it seems to be aftermarket. Further, this model does not come with a hat. However, this is the Sport Model, so this Doug comes with a lapel microphone to record your commentary. That is about it for the exterior quirks, now we move to the interior. Inside, this Doug comes equipped with every option a man would have from the factory. All internal organs are present, however, this one has a a special program loaded onto the brain, enabling it to talk endlessly about quirks and features. Quite a nice option, and a truly rare one from the factory. This option in combination with the color scheme makes this man a unique example, the only one in the world. Now, lets take this guy out on the road, and see how he drives. Doug is not exceptionally fast, with a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour, a bit slower than the average 28 miles per hour of most humans, however, as he has the sport package, he can talk while doing so, and record it with the aforementioned lapel mic. SO, when you are done running, you can upload your lap commentaries, and share it with your friends. Doug's acceleration is decent, reaching his top speed in just 10 seconds, quite impressive. However, due to a bad evaporative cooling system found on all humans, Doug can only keep up his top speed for a few minutes, after which, the top speed drops drastically. Doug's handling is impressive. Like all humans, he can turn 360 degrees on the spot, can jump to clear low curbs or speedbumps, and is able to move using his arms as well as his legs. However, what sets this guy apart in the handling department is his ability to fit into rear seats. Doug can cram himself into even the smallest of rear seats, the most impressive being the rear seats on the 996 generation Porsche 911 with hardback sport seats. Even the smallest guys often cannot fit into those rear seats, however, Doug did. That concludes the driving experience of the 1988 Doug Demuro. And now it's time to give THIS guy a Doug score... Starting with the Weekend Categories and Styling, Doug is ok but not beautiful and the cheap clothes don't help, so he gets a 5 out of 10. Acceleration is fine, considering his height (6'3 or 6'4/unknown) and he gets a 6 out of 10. Handling is only ok, sometimes he can't handle special purpose cars plus he's a little tall and not athletic so he gets a 4 out of 10. Fun Factor is high, especially for who he izz, and the 2 T-shirts bump it up a point or two, and he gets an 8 out of 10. Cool Factor is high too, he is probably the best reviewer among other UA-camrs and he gets a 9 out of 10 for a total Weekend Score of 32 out of 50. Next up are the Daily Categories and Features, he has a lot of weird/interesting quirks and features and he gets a 7 out of 10. Comfort is top notch, this guy is really comfy and relaxed and he gets a 9 out of 10. Practicality is low, he isn't practical at all, he even uses his iPhone to record and he gets a 3 out of 10. Quality is mediocre for the class, this guy just doesn't seem quite well built and he gets a 4 out of 10 Finally..,Value...Doug is worth watching, but he's "depreciating" fast considering he's only 30 and looks like 40 so he gets a 5 out of 10 for a total Daily Score of 28 out of 50.. Add it up and the Doug Score IZZZ..60 out of 100 and here's how he stacks up against rivals...
Great review! With this information I was able to determine the trim package I was originally considering just wasn't going to cut it. Unfortunately, there was only one single trim package ever offered, and to top it off the used market for these things is ABYSMAL. I haven't been able to find a single of one these puppies used anywhere in the world! Quite a rarity indeed. I suppose I'll have to go with my second choice for the time being, a respectable (and comparable) 1992 Nissan Altima with 283,000 miles on the chassis, steering wheel wrap (aftermarket), Kicker subwoofer (+stock speakers), and beige cloth interior with brown plastic accents as some notable features. I have a budget of around $847.00 give or take, and this guy only wants $1,000 for the Altima so I think I can talk him down! (I'm hoping at least). I'd gladly scrounge up a couple hundred bucks extra to make up for the difference for one of these if I could though, don't get me wrong! I guess I'm gonna continue to keep my eyes peeled for one of these...however, Chad said this Altima already has a bunch of interest on Craigslist so I can't wait too long or someone else is going to snag it forsure.... 😟😩 Anyways, thanks again for the awesome and informative review! --Fred

CHEVY: Here’s the 🔑 Doug, stop bothering us now. DOUG RETURNS CAR: It was letting a lot of rain in for some reason, might want to check that out guys.✌️
I just started working at a Chevorlet dealership and watching your videos definitely helps to become more familiar with the features of some of the vehicles, both new and used, so thank you Doug
It is a great way to get people more serious about them. Sometimes it took me 45 minutes to sell a TV working at Best Buy. I’m curious tho. I would love to test drive this car but having experienced what I have, I’m not wasting a dealership’s time like that. How do you know who is serious and not looking for a joyride?
@@joshriver75 Hey man, if you're one of the lucky few....don't be ashamed to say it. Also, I watch a lot of car channels, most reviewers mention their height when discussing interior space. What would it matter to the average man if some 5'6" dude could fit comfortably in a Lotus? We need to know their height for comparison.
I simply love this car. The comfort, the speed, the looks the simpleness of using heated seats, cold seats, climate control etc. And overall how much car you can get for just 58,900+options. Also thank you Doug for showing that a 6'4ft person can sit very comfortably inside.
Yet, somehow a moron at GM decided not to have a stick shift version. Having to do no shifting work while driving takes away the fun and makes you feel less like you are part of the machine too... Its basically a womans sports car now.
Doug reviewing his wife: for the weekend score the ride is thrilling and firm with very little under carriage clearance. When you ride her hard, you feel every little bump and imperfection. The only serious problem is that the entertainment center is too close to the exhaust, and she gets a six out of ten. Sum it all up and she compares favourably to other models in her class.
I think when the Corvette c8 had been first announced, it had an effect like when 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am had been announced back then. Both had european style very nice outside and inside appearances compared to their rivals, both had high performance by their times, and both had reasonable prices considering their features.
Love how you go into the little details on cars most reviewers fail to. When most people first get a new car, they start looking it over, playing with buttons, checking out storage compartments ..... your videos are like that experience but you provide exact descriptions of what you find when doing so. You so well feed us day dreamers regarding what it would be like to experience cars out of our possible budget as well as give great info on cars we may be considering buying. Thank You
Youssef I’m glad you caught that now again how’s that racist? “Racist” pretty much has no meaning because that word is just thrown out there and nobody can say what the definition is of it Is that more understanding?
You said you loved the way it looks yet only gave a styling a score of 6? Also, a comfort score of 4?? Numerous reviewers specifically praise the comfort and ride quality. It's at least, if not more comfortable than the 911 which you gave a comfort score of 5. And the Practical score of 2 when it has a great front-lift system, decent storage, relatively good gas-mileage, can come with all -season tires, and can be serviced at any Chevy dealership for Chevy prices (Compared to Porsche, Ferrari, etc) The C8 is the most practical sports car out there.
It's not a look for everyone, unlike a Porsche or Ferrari. Sometimes the C8 looks like an aftermarket modded corvette to me, it's just something about the body panels in some angles it looks cheap.
@@ZeNashB I owned one (You can see my delivery video) and in person it's amazing, inside about out. It also drives amazing. You feel like you are in something really special, like a big dollar exotic.
Two years later I still enjoy riding my C8 as much as I did in the beginning... I love upgrading her and doing all the mods, one of the latest mods was installation of Victor racing wing. It made such huge visual impact. Love it!
David Alves It’s not that cheap as it is still around 60,000 and can go up to 100,000. Though it’s still a fantastic value especially if you don’t go crazy on the options.
@@jbp122 I'm a Honda/Acura fan but the new NSX, I don't know what they were thinking, who in their right mind is going to pay 150k to 202k for an Acura.
It's not the price that is the NSX's problem. It's that it is generic in comparison to other supercars. It's only point of differentiation is its hybrid system, which no one cares about. I think people would have paid $150 -$180K for a mid engine car made completely out of carbon fiber (just like the original was all aluminum) with a 400 hp V6 and a modern dct.
@@rodmunch69 That's among the most insecure manchild comments I've ever read. An Insult like this is meaningless as it holds no water. Your choice to raise yourself by attempting to lower another however speaks plenty of yourself. As of now I'm under the assumption that either you're the kid, or incredibly insecure. The first is fine yet you make it an Insult. The second more likely one is just funny to me.
It’s for this reason alone why I choose American performance cars over the European exotics. In my opinion, the European sports cars are grossly overinflated in price, you’re paying $100k extra just because it has the name “Ferrari” or “Lamborghini”. Rip off
Great walk around, Doug! I have to disagree with your assessment of the front end, however. As a sculptor, I am enamored with the spectacular fluidity of design of the C8 from "stem to stern" (IMHO it harkens back to the boldest, most unconventional, and daring designs of late Art Deco 1930's bodyworks). If you trace all of the the curves and compound angles from the engine compartment forward, the design makes complete sense. I believe a lower profile front-end would have diminished the overall impact and effect of this inspired design. Mark my words, this WILL become a Classic Car!
Bah...Chevrolet's cousin - Cadillac - has had soft close trunks/boots since the late 1950s. I deliver auto parts for a living, and everytime i see one of these on the road, my initial thought at first glance is always, "Cool, what kind of European super car is that?" and as I get closer, I realize it's in fact, an American muscle car.
@@1969EType Wrong. The Corvette was originally designed & officially marketed a "muscle car" according to Chevrolet/GM themselves until midway through the C3's lifecycle (specifically in 1973 when they tweaked the design/feel to be more luxe/comfortable & rebranded it as a "touring sports car"). But the original C1 was ALWAYS designed as an entrance into the big muscle/pony car explosion going on at the time in the 1950's. Maybe actually go learn your basic car history before calling other people out on theirs, boy.
@@Cooe. if you need to tell yourself that a Corvette is a muscle car in order to sleep at night? I mean you go ahead and do what you need to do. Corvettes have indeed used many of the same plants, transmissions, gear boxes, rear end gears and brake packages that many other GM products also used but, the Corvette is and always has been a sports car. It's a sports car because in addition to its straight line performance, the Corvette could also handle well beyond any other so-called muscle car. For many years, the Corvette (through several generations) was one of the only production cars IN THE WORLD that could manage +1.0g on the skid pad. The next best handling American built car over the years has been what...the Z28 Camaro was specifically built as a road-racing trim? Some upline Mustang...maybe a Roush or a GT500? A Dodge Viper? You go and drive any of those cars and then go and drive a Corvette of the same vintage...and it's not even close. Because again, with a Corvette you get way more than 0-60 performance. Corvette is and always has been a sports car and not a muscle car. Now don't you go changin' and stay classy there, bruv!

I like Doug too. His almost child-like enthusiasm makes his videos fun. And his perspective is pretty unique due to the fact that he's a real fan of cars, but not an in-depth gearhead, like most popular "individuals" who tend to make such videos. You've got personalities like Jay Leno who know the nuts and bolts of every car in his extensive collection, fully understanding them, and the same with a lot that he features but doesn't own. That comes from being a legit life-long car nut and tinkerer, and he can talk about any facet of the car with knowledgeable ease. Jeremy Clarkson, also a life-long lover of cars who fully understands them. Although he tends to feign dismissive ignorance on many of the cars he talks about, he's just plying his shtick for the sake of humour. And then there's Doug.... He loves cars. He doesn't fully understand them, but he doesn't try to pretend he knows more than he does either. His ignorance of certain practical features, or the car's popcultural relevance in general... it can really tweak a gearhead's nerves a little sometimes, but that's okay... he's just being honest. As for his scoring... it's almost completely arbitrary at best. It's detailed... because he's actually given it thought, but hilariously, there's no base scale in his ratings. But again, it's his honest perspective, and a fun watch!
Damn that thing was extreme. I wonder if the axle lifter is as fast tho, what it does almost instantly is the suspension mode (literally changes which spring it uses in fact). Tho, wouldn't also doubt Doug just forgot it cause why not

Instead of trying to use a little mirror to look through a little rear window, surrounded by seats and stuff.... instead you get a perfect HD view on the back of the car. Big Fan of it!. I also like how theyve started implementing cameras all around the car. Back in the day you assumed that your car, and all others would have bumps, dinks, scrathes from people hitting you lightly when parallel parking, backing up, etc. Now you get pretty much a 360 view of your car. 😟😩
Anyways, thanks again for the awesome and informative review!

This is exactly what Acura should have done with the new NSX but with a simple V6 twin turbo under 70k.

I deliver auto parts for a living, and everytime i see one of these on the road, my initial thought at first glance is always, "Cool, what kind of European super car is that?" and as I get closer, I realize it's in fact, an American muscle car.
A Corvette is not and never has been a muscle car.
@@1969EType Sorry. Wannabe European "Sports car"
@@Suiax Thanks. Me and the boyz with our Torinos, Chevelles and GTOs appreciate it.

Doug: This is the best axle lifting system in the car industry
New Ford GT: *cries in sad axle noises
Damn that thing was extreme. I wonder if the axle lifter is as fast tho, what it does almost instantly is the suspension mode (literally changes which spring it uses in fact).
Tho, wouldn't also doubt Doug just forgot it cause why not
Lowrider hydraulics are better
Ford haters are coming 👀

@@bobbysharpesr.1819 Yeah right name me one Ford product that is Motor Trend Car of the year, North American Car of the year, a car so hot and praised, and getting even hotter after the drive reviews. Go look at everyone who driven this car on UA-cam, and they act like a little kid with his favorite toy, Chevy has a winner.
Gotta love Doug. He has 3 mil subs and don't ever care how he is dressed. Respect to you Doug.

Chevy: Doug we are sorry. Here is a C8 to review.
Doug: Don’t worry about the fact that it is raining inside this car. It isn’t mine.
I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!
It's not the fact that it isn't Doug's that's the reason he doesn't care about the rain, it's because all pre production models get crushed.
It's a shame, of course but that's the way it is. Pre production models don't even have a vin number, that's why it can't be sold to a civilian.
@@downhome7500 So even if he took a shit in the car, it basically wouldn't matter?

I seen that, lol.
Everyone did.
Scrolled through the comments just for that. It looked like he had no idea what kind of car it was and that he wanted to find a logo.

One of the things I love the most, yet its so simpe is the rearview camera, that turns you rearview mirrors into a screen. Or like some of the new cars, that have like radars, that show you your car from a sky view almost like from a satellite, and you see everything around in, in 3D display
Fun fact: Chevy execs call the shape of the steering wheel a “squircle”
Adam Zimmerman squashed circle would call it.
