I mean I think all the new characters carry this game. I wish it didn't have the 13 brand and was it's own thing. Noel and Caius are some of the best FF characters.

I think his voice is the best in any video game ever. I often listen these when Im driving my car. The voice is just so powerful yet some how respecful at the same time. His voice is simply awesome.
I don't know what's better, this speech as caius or his speech about shinobi as gaara...both good pieces of writing with great voice acting. good to see a 'villain' with somewhat good intentions who gets the job done.
God I love this character. His speech is so poetic, and the sound of his voice in delivering those line is awesome (props to liam o'brien for that). He is also the first "bad guy" in an FF that I really felt for ("they were all special" "she did not deserve this" etc in reference to yeul) and what other FF can you say that for? none (well jecht/sin maybe). The moment you get that live trigger to show him mercy or end him, god that was so intense I had goosebumps and was crying my eyes out. I tried to show him mercy but it still happens >< 1:37 to the end ... epic
He's the perfect blend of tragic hero bad ass villain and very much unstoppable Force unmovable object that you only beat him cause he let's you and by doing it he wins

This game was so good. I really dont know why people hate this game... Coming back to this game 3 years later and nothing beats it. The story is off the charts and full of emotion. The music is outstanding. Graphics were the "best at the time" ive seen bar ff13. And of course voice actors. I love serahs voice too but Caius voice is just epic. The actual ending of this game is tied with 10s superb ending
The combat system was fun. Though I will admit that I have bias. As 13 was my first main counsel FF game. I loved tactics 3 and 4 though and am currently playing the new tactics game on mobile thats free. 15 is on its way though bases on characters alone I haven't played all the DLC though
@@waleeh9113 Yes this was the biggest downfall for it. For the vast majority of the game actually picking abilities doesn't mean anything so you just hit auto battle because it's much quicker. It isn't until you're doing endgame stuff that actually selecting abilities and thinking about what you're doing even really matters. I believe XIII-2 and lightning returns battles were done a lot better in comparison to the first installment at least though.
You never know, they could end up recasting Zamasu because they haven't gotten to that arc in the show yet. They did it with Hit, so they might. I doubt Sabat would replace James Marsters, but we won't know until it gets to that point in the dub.
Way to miss the mark and no, he's not harping about them not being allowed to be happy because others were sad. He explained quite concisely that when she and the rest of the FFXIII cast were rescued from their crystal stasis during the ending of FFXIII, time changed. It became twisted and began to spin out of control creating many different alternate histories. Yuel was forced to see this new histories and every time she saw a new one she would get closer and closer to death. Basically, Etro saved their lives at the cost of Yuel's eternal suffering. I may also add that Lightning's dissapearance was also a direct result of Etro's interference and twisting of time and reality. Her interference allowed Chaos to seep through and that Chaos pulled Lightning to Valhalla.
....Caius is probably among the *the best* examples of a tragic villain in video games, much less a FF game. Love made him crazy, and the nature of that love... is complicated, to say the least. The real issue was the root cause of that downward spiral knto madness... A fate caused by a poor girl in love, doomed to die before even becoming a woman... she doesn't even make it to 16 before dying because of the cruel march of time. She could sit there, do nothing, and no matter what... die. Die only to reincarnate, fall in love with the ssme guy, and die all over again.... for thousands of years, and across hundreds of thousands of incarnations... with the sole exception of the one Yeul Caius left to Noel because he had had enough of seeing her die pointlessly and sought to end reality once snd for all to end 'their' tragic fate. But then.... She was the root cause of both the end of the world and Caius's eternal damnation... All because Etro took pity on her and granted her the ability to reincarnate. Caius and Yeul are the very personifications of doomed. And I hated the way Lightning reacted to Yeul and her fate.... it's not as if she had any choice in her own feelings or actions.... She was doomed long before realizing she fell in love. ...I hated most of XIII, but Caius and Yeul were brilliant characters.
She weren't in love with him. You should read "Fragmente After" in this book it makes clear that Caius was like a father for Yeul because of a rule. One of the former Yeuls make the rule that every Seeress has to leave her family as soon as she speaks her first word. Caius had to picked up a three years old Yeul because she spoke her first word, then he needed to leave with her and raise her by himself, he is like a father for her and she is like a daughter. You can also hear it when he said "She is but a CHILD and a child needs to be looked after....". It is clear that he was like a father and so he got broken by seeing his daughter die again and again. He sees her as a child and not as a lover. Noel on the other hand loves her like a lover. It is totally normal that you get broken if you see you child die again and again. The last Yeul could live with her family because she was the last one but every other Yeul was literally raise as a baby to a teenager by Caius.

Familial love would NOT cause the end of the world the way it did in that series. Her very existence as the Unseen Chaos shouts that out her feelings pretty damn loud. This applies to the expression of her love for Caius. Frankly, to say, unequivocally, that not a single one of them was romantically in love with him is insane and objectively false considering her own actions and dialogue contradict that she 'only saw him as a father'. I mean, I don't doubt that a good number of Yeuls did feel that way for him, but again, you can't and shouldn't assume that every Yeul felt that way. I don't care what that book says considering that it doesn't speak for EVERY Yeul. And like I said. The nature of that love, from both of them, was... complicated.

Every Yeul has the memories of the one who came before her so meaning the Yeul were all younger than 7 and Caius raised her. So will you say that he is in love with a girl he raised from the age of 3? I doubt that SE would make such a character. You also don't know how old Caius was when he became the guardian and then when he became immoral. It is most likely that he was at least 18. You could argue that the first one was some kind of lover but you can't say for sure since you don't know how the live of them was. For example it could be that Yeul lived in a temple in pradda and stayed there so that only a few people where allowed to see her, after all the rule says she must leave her family which is difficult when the family can go to see her every time they want so it is possible that as soon as a woman was pregnant with her, that she and family had to move into the temple or the Palast and after Yeul spoke her first word or had her first vision, her family then was kicked out of the place and only a few where allowed to go there. If that was the case than Caius meet the first one when he was already an adult and since Yeul never got older than 17 it is most unlikely that Caius had a romantic relationship with her, the first one had the best chance, every Yeul after her was raised by Caius. Again you don't know that and I don't know that either I only can work with what I got and that is that Caius raised every Yeul, except the first one he protected but every other Yeul was raised by him, meaning he was like a father for her. If you don't know much other people than you probably don't want your father to leave you especially when you aren't adult. Caius also says it himself he says "She is but a CHILD..." this tells you that he sees her as a child not lover. There are other words he could used like she is a girl but he used child. You could argue that it could be a mistake in the translation but in Dissidia Omnia SE choose that Auron FF10 speaks with Caius and he said that they are the same. So Auron was more a father figure for Yuna not a lover. Then Barret FF7 shows in the Chapter too and he said he can understand how Caius feel because he has a little girl by himself meaning Marlene who is only 5 years. SE didn't put them in this cheaper because they where bored they had a reason which implies that SE sees Caius as a father for Yeul. Noel meet Iroha from the previous FF and they are pretty similar, both are time travelers and both had a master, however Iroha would never fight against her master because she respect her master too much. And don't forget that Lightning does the same as Caius for her sister. Will you say Lightning and Serah also lovers because Lightning would do the same for Serah what Caius does for Yeul? No of course not and if Serah has the power of the Chaos she would also uses it to make sure her sister stays alive. Again SE wrote the Novel and they choose to say that every Yeul must be taken away from her family by her guardian. This tells you that Caius raises them the only two he did not raise where Noel's Yeul and MAYBE The first one he protected but you don't know that for sure it is possible that he becomes Yeuls guardian when Yeul was still a child meaning that he probably 18 or 19 became the guardian of an 7 or 8 years child which would also mean that Caius also didn't had romantic feelings for the first Yeul but it could be that the first one was older you don't know that and I don't either so besides Noel's Yeul and possibly the first one, he raised every other Yeul meaning he was like a father and then his words again "She is but a child" and the fact Auron says they are the same and the fact that Barrett says he has a little girl by himself heavily implies that SE sees Caius as a father figure not a lover. There are also other media characters who would do the same. For example the flash move back in time to bring back his mother who was killed, other people suffered because of that and he created the Flashpoint. Will you say he had romantic feelings for his mother too that's why he created the Flashpoint and doomed the world? He is an adult and still brings back his mother. Yeul is a teenager so of course she would use this power. There is also the enemy from Thor: Love and Thunder who also did all that for his daughter. So saying someone wouldn't destroy the world because of his daughter is a lie which means Caius motivation wasn't because he had romantic feelings it was more like he doesn't want to see the child he raised suffering. Also the novel not only tells about one Yeul it tells about 4 Yeuls in different times and only one of them was 7 when Caius took her the others where at the age of 3 or 5.

Caius' role was to protect Yeul, but that's really all it spelled out for him as her Guardian. There weren't any restrictions imposed on how he went about it or what their relationship could be. More to the point, it's also still impossible to rule out that his feelings WEREN'T romantic in at least some capacity since there were A LOT of Yeuls across lord knows how many thousands of years. Yuou'd have to be an idiot to assume, much less honestly believe, that the nature of their relationship was simple and uncomplicated enough to be just platonic. Again, LR practically shouts it out loud that Yeul, and I mean the majority of her that became the Unseen Chaos since it's basically the hive mind of her soul here, was in love with Caius. There's also no denying that the poor bastard was driven insane with grief due to a shit ton of complex emotions and his own powerlessness... And yes, the root cause of that despari can be traced back to his love for the girl even more than his duty. As for the nature of that love? It's pretty obvious that it's fluid in nature and can't really be described as 'only' paternal or romantic in nature. The guy's affection runs the entire spectrum from dutiful guardian, big brother, lover, father, mentor.... He's likely filled every role a man could possibly fill for the girl as she's lived, died, and been constantly reincarnated here. Plus, I kinda hate the misconception that each Yeul has a different 'soul' when they share the same memories, form, and all return to the same place when any one incarnation dies. It's more accurate to say that each Yeul has the same 'soul' but different 'heart' since that better explains why each Yeul is a bit different every incarnation while still acting... oddly the same regardless of incarnation. But I diress. Yes Yeul loves and is in love with Caius. No, it doesn't matter if they were lovers since it's pretty clear that their relationship is too complex for that and doesn't matter anyway. Yes, Caius loves Yeul. His actions were entirely motivated by his love for the poor girl. I mean, he literally destroyed all of time for her because of it. That said, his love is obviously very complex and fluid in nature and can't really be summed up very well in a single word... or paragraph really. the games back this up time and time again and you're not gonna convince me otherwise. It's really that simple.

They want to sell that game to a majority of countries and the most countries don't like it when an adult loves a minor in a romantic way in fact in most countries it is illegal and so SE wouldn't do such a love. The majority of Yeuls never got older than 15 so they had the mind of a teen and Caius who most likely was older than 18 definitely wouldn't have romantic feelings for a minor since SE wouldn't make a game with a adult having romantic feelings for a child. Like it or not the novels are Canon and in it it said that every Yeul was raised by Caius so he was a father and a lot of fathers or mothers would do everything to protect their children. If you like to ship them that's your story but don't say they had romantic feelings because you want that when the facts is that Caius raised them and again Caius literally says it in LR. He said she is just a child, does that sound like he got any romantic feelings for her? No it doesn't. It is not normal to have romantic feelings for a child you raised. Noel is different because he didn't raised Yeul. Noel and Yeul are sandbox friends and so it is different than Caius who was an adult and raises her over and over again. And like it or not there are more ways of love than just the romantic love. The love from parents are just as strong as a romantic love. In fact you can see the love of parents even by animals. A bear mother can be really aggressive just to protect her child but you don't see her fight like that for a mate. Caius made it clear that he sees Yeul as a child not more and Yeul lost her family because of the rule of course she don't want to lose the family she then got in Caius. Again she is just a Teen and so she has the mind of a Teenager and Caius was her only family. It is normal that she didn't want to lose him. SE also change the look of Shiva in on of the game just to sell it to China so they definitely wouldn't make an adult who loves the child he raised because again a lot of countries wouldn't like that and they don't want they games forbidden in a majority of countries.

Sephiroth is a genocide overpowered genetical freak with a twisted mind. Caius is a godslayer and he's immortal and survived the apocalypse. No one, not even Sephiroth, could stop him.

I feel like Caius Ballad wasn't added to Dissidia NT because he and Kain shared the same voice actor. Caius should have been XIII's villain representative instead of Snow.

He isn't an evil villain, but he was insane with grief and an extremist. Even before LR, it was clear letting excess Chaos into the world would be destructive given what the paradoxes had done to people and history. Not to mention his second plan to achieve this involved yet another mass killing.
Buddy, play FF13, FF13-2 and LRFF13 to finish FF13 trilogy, the whole story is best! I had played FF13 and FF13-2, but I'm just watching walk-through of LRFF13 (because game interface graphic is poor, and need to play smart), I salute to Square Enix game scriptwriter team for Final Fantasy, every story is best.
Etro is a goddess who made a lot of bad choices with good intentions. Basically: 1) She reincarnates Yeul, the first human made in the image of Etro herself, because she pitied her. This was a mistake which gave Yeul the "Eyes of Etro" and created an unnecesary surplus of Chaos every time she reincarnated (that eventually destroyed the world once Caius broke the gates of Etro). 2) She saw the valiant defense given by the guardian Caius in defense of Yeul, and thus he saved his life by giving him her own heart. This made him immortal but he would eventually resent this immortality as his grief would become immense and unnending. 3) And finally she saves Cocoon and the l'cie that fought against Barthandelus and Orphan by turning Fang and Vanille into the Crystal pillar and bringing back the rest of them from their Crystal stasis and removing their l'cie brands. This act however allowed immense quantities of Chaos to escape which dragged Lightning to Valhalla, gave Serah the Eyes of Etro, and twisted time itself causing a chain reaction that would continously kill all the Yuel's at a much earlier age than normal (which caused Caius to snap and hatch the plan to kill Etro).

@@LeonGun8 I think that’s also important to note that the reason Etro gave Yeul the power to reincarnate was because, for whatever reason, Yeul is unable to pass on to the afterlife, and that turns out Yeul willingly reincarnates over and over despite her fate partly out of a desire to see Caius.
Its funny. Antagonist threatens to damn the world to save his loved one and everyone gets up in arms. A protagonist does it and everybody goes "Yeah! Get the girl!"

That's what I like of Caius; he replaced the cliché use of darkness to characterize antagonists for the power of chaos and time at his favor, his reason to do what he does is very understandable and you empatize with it, his design is awesome his dialogues are cool, even poetic sometimes and, as Evelyn L. said, he succeeded. And what's more he lived to tell the tale about it to achieve a greater position in the end of Lightning Returns. Kefka may have left the world in ruins and Sephirot about to accomplish it, but Caius not only left the world of Pulse in ruins, but also gave it a slow death for 500 years putting in danger the souls of millions forced to be saved and displaced to another world. The XIII franchise may have not been excelent like past entries, but this guy, says it all :)

Coming back to this game 3 years later and nothing beats it. The story is off the charts and full of emotion. The music is outstanding. Graphics were the "best at the time" ive seen bar ff13. And of course voice actors. I love serahs voice too but Caius voice is just epic. The actual ending of this game is tied with 10s superb ending

The combat system was fun. Though I will admit that I have bias. As 13 was my first main counsel FF game. I loved tactics 3 and 4 though and am currently playing the new tactics game on mobile thats free. 15 is on its way though bases on characters alone I haven't played all the DLC though
@@waleeh9113 Yes this was the biggest downfall for it. For the vast majority of the game actually picking abilities doesn't mean anything so you just hit auto battle because it's much quicker. It isn't until you're doing endgame stuff that actually selecting abilities and thinking about what you're doing even really matters. I believe XIII-2 and lightning returns battles were done a lot better in comparison to the first installment at least though.

Way to miss the mark and no, he's not harping about them not being allowed to be happy because others were sad. He explained quite concisely that when she and the rest of the FFXIII cast were rescued from their crystal stasis during the ending of FFXIII, time changed. It became twisted and began to spin out of control creating many different alternate histories. Yuel was forced to see this new histories and every time she saw a new one she would get closer and closer to death. Basically, Etro saved their lives at the cost of Yuel's eternal suffering.
I may also add that Lightning's dissapearance was also a direct result of Etro's interference and twisting of time and reality. Her interference allowed Chaos to seep through and that Chaos pulled Lightning to Valhalla.

I have been in love with his voice for so long now-
....Caius is probably among the *the best* examples of a tragic villain in video games, much less a FF game.
Love made him crazy, and the nature of that love... is complicated, to say the least.
The real issue was the root cause of that downward spiral knto madness...
A fate caused by a poor girl in love, doomed to die before even becoming a woman... she doesn't even make it to 16 before dying because of the cruel march of time. She could sit there, do nothing, and no matter what... die. Die only to reincarnate, fall in love with the ssme guy, and die all over again.... for thousands of years, and across hundreds of thousands of incarnations... with the sole exception of the one Yeul Caius left to Noel because he had had enough of seeing her die pointlessly and sought to end reality once snd for all to end 'their' tragic fate.
But then.... She was the root cause of both the end of the world and Caius's eternal damnation...
All because Etro took pity on her and granted her the ability to reincarnate.
Caius and Yeul are the very personifications of doomed.
And I hated the way Lightning reacted to Yeul and her fate.... it's not as if she had any choice in her own feelings or actions....
She was doomed long before realizing she fell in love.

She weren't in love with him. You should read "Fragmente After" in this book it makes clear that Caius was like a father for Yeul because of a rule. One of the former Yeuls make the rule that every Seeress has to leave her family as soon as she speaks her first word. Caius had to picked up a three years old Yeul because she spoke her first word, then he needed to leave with her and raise her by himself, he is like a father for her and she is like a daughter. You can also hear it when he said "She is but a CHILD and a child needs to be looked after....". It is clear that he was like a father and so he got broken by seeing his daughter die again and again. He sees her as a child and not as a lover. Noel on the other hand loves her like a lover.
It is totally normal that you get broken if you see you child die again and again. The last Yeul could live with her family because she was the last one but every other Yeul was literally raise as a baby to a teenager by Caius.

No two Yeuls were the same. That and Lightning Returns completely contradicts the notion that Yeul 'wasn't' in love with Caius. Familial love would NOT cause the end of the world the way it did in that series. Her very existence as the Unseen Chaos shouts that out her feelings pretty damn loud.
This applies to the expression of her love for Caius.
Frankly, to say, unequivocally, that not a single one of them was romantically in love with him is insane and objectively false considering her own actions and dialogue contradict that she 'only saw him as a father'.
I mean, I don't doubt that a good number of Yeuls did feel that way for him, but again, you can't and shouldn't assume that every Yeul felt that way.
I don't care what that book says considering that it doesn't speak for EVERY Yeul.
And like I said. The nature of that love, from both of them, was... complicated.

For example it could be that Yeul lived in a temple in pradda and stayed there so that only a few people where allowed to see her, after all the rule says she must leave her family which is difficult when the family can go to see her every time they want so it is possible that as soon as a woman was pregnant with her, that she and family had to move into the temple or the Palast and after Yeul spoke her first word or had her first vision, her family then was kicked out of the place and only a few where allowed to go there. If that was the case than Caius meet the first one when he was already an adult and since Yeul never got older than 17 it is most unlikely that Caius had a romantic relationship with her, the first one had the best chance, every Yeul after her was raised by Caius.
Again you don't know that and I don't know that either I only can work with what I got and that is that Caius raised every Yeul, except the first one he protected but every other Yeul was raised by him, meaning he was like a father for her.
If you don't know much other people than you probably don't want your father to leave you especially when you aren't adult. Caius also says it himself he says "She is but a CHILD..." this tells you that he sees her as a child not lover. There are other words he could used like she is a girl but he used child. You could argue that it could be a mistake in the translation but in Dissidia Omnia SE choose that Auron FF10 speaks with Caius and he said that they are the same. So Auron was more a father figure for Yuna not a lover. Then Barret FF7 shows in the Chapter too and he said he can understand how Caius feel because he has a little girl by himself meaning Marlene who is only 5 years. SE didn't put them in this cheaper because they where bored they had a reason which implies that SE sees Caius as a father for Yeul.
Noel meet Iroha from the previous FF and they are pretty similar, both are time travelers and both had a master, however Iroha would never fight against her master because she respect her master too much.
And don't forget that Lightning does the same as Caius for her sister. Will you say Lightning and Serah also lovers because Lightning would do the same for Serah what Caius does for Yeul? No of course not and if Serah has the power of the Chaos she would also uses it to make sure her sister stays alive.
Again SE wrote the Novel and they choose to say that every Yeul must be taken away from her family by her guardian. This tells you that Caius raises them the only two he did not raise where Noel's Yeul and MAYBE The first one he protected but you don't know that for sure it is possible that he becomes Yeuls guardian when Yeul was still a child meaning that he probably 18 or 19 became the guardian of an 7 or 8 years child which would also mean that Caius also didn't had romantic feelings for the first Yeul but it could be that the first one was older you don't know that and I don't either so besides Noel's Yeul and possibly the first one, he raised every other Yeul meaning he was like a father and then his words again "She is but a child" and the fact Auron says they are the same and the fact that Barrett says he has a little girl by himself heavily implies that SE sees Caius as a father figure not a lover.
There are also other media characters who would do the same. For example the flash move back in time to bring back his mother who was killed, other people suffered because of that and he created the Flashpoint. Will you say he had romantic feelings for his mother too that's why he created the Flashpoint and doomed the world? He is an adult and still brings back his mother. Yeul is a teenager so of course she would use this power.
There is also the enemy from Thor: Love and Thunder who also did all that for his daughter. So saying someone wouldn't destroy the world because of his daughter is a lie which means Caius motivation wasn't because he had romantic feelings it was more like he doesn't want to see the child he raised suffering.
Also the novel not only tells about one Yeul it tells about 4 Yeuls in different times and only one of them was 7 when Caius took her the others where at the age of 3 or 5.

I never said that they were lovers, only that yes... Yeul, and damn near every Yeul but on one... was, in fact, loved and/or was in love with Caius.
Caius' role was to protect Yeul, but that's really all it spelled out for him as her Guardian. There weren't any restrictions imposed on how he went about it or what their relationship could be. More to the point, it's also still impossible to rule out that his feelings WEREN'T romantic in at least some capacity since there were A LOT of Yeuls across lord knows how many thousands of years.
Yuou'd have to be an idiot to assume, much less honestly believe, that the nature of their relationship was simple and uncomplicated enough to be just platonic.
Again, LR practically shouts it out loud that Yeul, and I mean the majority of her that became the Unseen Chaos since it's basically the hive mind of her soul here, was in love with Caius.
There's also no denying that the poor bastard was driven insane with grief due to a shit ton of complex emotions and his own powerlessness... And yes, the root cause of that despari can be traced back to his love for the girl even more than his duty.
As for the nature of that love?
It's pretty obvious that it's fluid in nature and can't really be described as 'only' paternal or romantic in nature.
The guy's affection runs the entire spectrum from dutiful guardian, big brother, lover, father, mentor.... He's likely filled every role a man could possibly fill for the girl as she's lived, died, and been constantly reincarnated here.
Plus, I kinda hate the misconception that each Yeul has a different 'soul' when they share the same memories, form, and all return to the same place when any one incarnation dies.
It's more accurate to say that each Yeul has the same 'soul' but different 'heart' since that better explains why each Yeul is a bit different every incarnation while still acting... oddly the same regardless of incarnation. But I diress.

Yes, Caius loves Yeul. His actions were entirely motivated by his love for the poor girl. I mean, he literally destroyed all of time for her because of it.
That said, his love is obviously very complex and fluid in nature and can't really be summed up very well in a single word... or paragraph really.

The majority of Yeuls never got older than 15 so they had the mind of a teen and Caius who most likely was older than 18 definitely wouldn't have romantic feelings for a minor since SE wouldn't make a game with a adult having romantic feelings for a child.
Like it or not the novels are Canon and in it it said that every Yeul was raised by Caius so he was a father and a lot of fathers or mothers would do everything to protect their children.
If you like to ship them that's your story but don't say they had romantic feelings because you want that when the facts is that Caius raised them and again Caius literally says it in LR. He said she is just a child, does that sound like he got any romantic feelings for her? No it doesn't. It is not normal to have romantic feelings for a child you raised.
Noel is different because he didn't raised Yeul. Noel and Yeul are sandbox friends and so it is different than Caius who was an adult and raises her over and over again.
And like it or not there are more ways of love than just the romantic love. The love from parents are just as strong as a romantic love. In fact you can see the love of parents even by animals. A bear mother can be really aggressive just to protect her child but you don't see her fight like that for a mate.
Caius made it clear that he sees Yeul as a child not more and Yeul lost her family because of the rule of course she don't want to lose the family she then got in Caius. Again she is just a Teen and so she has the mind of a Teenager and Caius was her only family. It is normal that she didn't want to lose him.
SE also change the look of Shiva in on of the game just to sell it to China so they definitely wouldn't make an adult who loves the child he raised because again a lot of countries wouldn't like that and they don't want they games forbidden in a majority of countries.

Goddess Etra seems to screw up a lot of people, including Versus XIII fans.....
Etro is a goddess who made a lot of bad choices with good intentions. Basically:
1) She reincarnates Yeul, the first human made in the image of Etro herself, because she pitied her. This was a mistake which gave Yeul the "Eyes of Etro" and created an unnecesary surplus of Chaos every time she reincarnated (that eventually destroyed the world once Caius broke the gates of Etro).
2) She saw the valiant defense given by the guardian Caius in defense of Yeul, and thus he saved his life by giving him her own heart. This made him immortal but he would eventually resent this immortality as his grief would become immense and unnending.
3) And finally she saves Cocoon and the l'cie that fought against Barthandelus and Orphan by turning Fang and Vanille into the Crystal pillar and bringing back the rest of them from their Crystal stasis and removing their l'cie brands. This act however allowed immense quantities of Chaos to escape which dragged Lightning to Valhalla, gave Serah the Eyes of Etro, and twisted time itself causing a chain reaction that would continously kill all the Yuel's at a much earlier age than normal (which caused Caius to snap and hatch the plan to kill Etro).
Sooo. A god fucked everything up.... Thats I need to hear.

That's what I like of Caius; he replaced the cliché use of darkness to characterize antagonists for the power of chaos and time at his favor, his reason to do what he does is very understandable and you empatize with it, his design is awesome his dialogues are cool, even poetic sometimes and, as Evelyn L. said, he succeeded. And what's more he lived to tell the tale about it to achieve a greater position in the end of Lightning Returns.
Kefka may have left the world in ruins and Sephirot about to accomplish it, but Caius not only left the world of Pulse in ruins, but also gave it a slow death for 500 years putting in danger the souls of millions forced to be saved and displaced to another world. The XIII franchise may have not been excelent like past entries, but this guy, says it all :)
