did i just hear: "frail like Gandalf" wtf the dude is 2,020 years old when he defeats the balrog in 1v1

    • @BobHerzog1962

Yea on that comment I just thought has he even read the book(s) or seen the movies? If anything Gandalf is extremly low key with the magic he shows (though it is left open whether he uses some with people just being unaware of it). But he has a named sword a named horse and makes good and frequent use of both! In Pathfinder Ganadalf is more like a monk & fighter hybrid who after reaching level 20 was allowed to multiclass into magic user and continue leveling.

Actually ... Gandalf has existed since before the shaping of Arda, so before recorded history or even the existence of the material world. He just didn't come to Middle-earth until 1000 years into the Third Age.
And yeah, Gandalf is by no means "frail". He's of the Maiar, which are essentially angels, and despite his appearance, is one of the mightiest beings in the world.

but Gandalf is not a wizard, in D&D terms he would be a Good Outsider (Agathinon ) who takes the physical form of an old human.

personally i dont think, constitution is worth maxing, just because early on enemies will oneshot you anyway, and later on even with 12-14 con you still gonna have those 200-300 hp along with mirror image&displacement wich is totally fine

Title: Video about a wizard build for the most difficult difficulty.
Still mentions wizards are frail and needs protection.
If you hadn't figured that out... You need to play more RPGs my friend.

I do t get your logic, a wizard won't be your best damage dealer unless you know beforehand what you're actually dealing with to prepare for it so logically that should be even worse for the sorcerer since the sorcerer can't prepare at all, and on a even playing field of lack of knowledge as the wizard the amount of spells they can cast won't matter when the spell they do have are ineffective. It seems your just basing it on because the sorcerer has more spells he will be the better damage dealers when the negatives you apply to the wizard are doubly as devastating to the sorcerer for the similar if not same reason.

@Sack4ra I've already played a sorcerer on both Baldur gate 1-2 and both pathfinders.
It's basically, literally just turns these games into every other type of game with that doesn't use the spell slot system. Just click the spell and shoot until you're out of mana.
Don't get me wrong I like all types of magic systems but pretending it's more than just that would be lying to oneself.
I prefer wizard because it at least gives the illusion of choice.

    • @MrSteelScizor

Cantrip (Acid Splash) is right-clicked to autocast every turn as its set for her to go down Arcane Trickster route which gets sneak damage on spells.

    • @rudamachoo
      @rudamachoo Рік тому

right click the cantrip to annule it and then she'll use whatever ranged weapon you have on her. bows aren't good tho, get her an xbow and as you start to lvl up you can get her to be more proficient with bows.

Explaining the most basic mechanics of the game is a waste of time for an unfair difficulty guide. If someone is playing unfair and they don't know what saving throws are or that wizards are frail, they're not going to do well on unfair regardless.

Thanks for the post. It confirms that the wizard class really stinks. You need all your teammates just to stay alive, and that's if your lucky. I think this class is for pro's who want a real challenge. Seems like everything the wizard gets comes at a steep price.

@@henryseldon6077 Here's the thing about wizards, and this has held true since the dawn of Dungeons and Dragons: they really, REALLY suck at lower levels. They're weak and it indeed takes a party to keep them alive.
But ... there's also a reason why they're so popular. It's because they don't STAY weak. In fact, they become pretty much the mightiest class of all. For instance: the Baldur's Gate saga. In the beginning, you roll a wizard. Level 1. Insanely weak, pretty much a stiff breeze could kill you, and you get a whopping 1 spell to cast per day. You're pathetic.
By the end of the saga, in Throne of Bhaal, you're capable of soloing against the mightiest dragons, demiliches, even Demogorgon, the Prince of Demons himself. A feat that any other class would find difficult if not impossible. Wizards are ridiculously overpowered, as long as you have the patience to stick with it.
P.S. Wizards start to come into their own around level 5, and by level 9 they're pretty much the strongest class compared to everyone else. So the painful start is worth it.

@@mr.battle20 I shot my mouth off before I knew what I was talking about. I discovered the scroll savant class and everything you said is true. It is hard in the beginning, but get's better later. I understand the buffing & debuffing role, but sooner of later it's in your face and you need more. Scrolls provide that.

-_- Not suited to tanking... Okay, let me just put all of your favorite evasion buffs back into my spell book you silly fighter. Clearly that shield and steel skin are all you need to stay alive. Don't be asking for Blur, Displacement, and Mirror Image. You can absolutely forget about ever having Greater Invisibility cast on you as well. This silly fragile nerd will just cast them on myself, along with all the other buffs, and leave you in the dust. All jokes aside, I'll admit that early game being a wiztank is rough. Late game, if something touches you it's your fault.
