Great episode Caleb. I wonder if there would be a market for you to find someone to do a spin off show for your channel for home cooking and weekend meal planning for the audience. Eating out is one of the largest discretionary expenses most people have and most younger people have no clue how to go about with something like that. Meal planning and prepping could make eating a home a lot easier for a lot of people who think they don’t have time to do it. Food for thought.

Working 5 out of 31 days is a joke - his comedy/voice acting might be a greater joke. I’m paid bi weekly in real estate biz and have worked for same people for 9 years. Every day I work because the first few years I did not - technically My Choice. After the eeb and flow of business up and downs I’ve convinced myself I’d prefer to be paid this way. Sure it’d feel like I’d be paying my debt faster if paid weekly but I also wouldn’t have grown into who I am. And it means I have to work harder now to even acknowledge getting paid a month down the road! (For people who even comprehend how this type of pay works, technically I’ve already rendered services for the next month is what that means). This guy works 5/30 days a month and talks non stop well guess what hard work beats talent all the time - he may think he has skill but his character ruins it (assuming you believe he has skill) - I guess you can sense how I’m feeling about this episode as it’s playing in the background😂
I always wonder with these people.... what do they *do* all day then?? Surely their friends (mostly) work normal hours. Not that you need work to feel accomplished, I just legitimately wonder what they spend hours a day on.

If it’s that bad u can work on the empathy piece by having long discussions and fostering intimacy in a way that promotes individuality and a sense of being separate but together rather than enmeshing with each other. People who are themselves are extremely desirable as opposed to people who move too close to u to quickly resulting in emotional problems people are not mature enough to solve.

Don’t get married! He’s going to slide downhill. Not listening to you and not working if he doesn’t want to. If he’s not listening to you now a signature on a marriage license isn’t going to motivate him.

If there's any chance of you going pro... you would be playing some level of ball. I spent 4 years in arena football. I was told as a junior in high school, you're a good college qb. You won't be a NFL talent. When you're that talented they'll know early.

JUST TO BE CLEAR - there is no shame in still staying with your family. As long as you are still taking care of yourself financially by your own means (enough that you can life by yourself comfortably) and contributing to helping out your family (since you are still living with them), then it's okay. In a lot of other cultures outside of the US, it's normal to stay with your parents or your extended family even into adulthood.
That’s what I do. I’m not married (divorced), so what is the point of me living on my own? We have a great cohabitation situation where everyone benefits in some way.
@teegee126 thats the culture thing though lmao. As far as I know ( been told directly by the respective people) indian people regularly live with their parents until their 30s, or until marriage.
I WILL never understand how most adults children live at home don't pay shit and don't have thousands of dollars saved up. Like wtf do you do with your money. Blows my mind.

So this is what my life would have been like if i had married my 1st boyfriend. I'm glad I listened to my parents and married the guy that I loved AND that my dad approved of.
He's hoping to get that one big role that will catapult him to "stardom" and then he can bask in the adulation of all the teens that want to do the same.
My husband is an anime fan and subscribes to Crunchyroll. He kinda hates the english dubs. Says they are terrible and sound nothing like they should. He will watch the original Japanese with subtitles if given the option.
It's nuts. Even the idea that you can be one of the very few VAs that really break out, you ain't going to be making shit working as a VA in Texas. He needs to go somewhere with union work. So, his parents need to move to California.
@daerandir1459 Most VAs make real money trading on their fame (putting in appearances at anime conventions around the country) rather than for their voice work. All of that work is gig/contract work and outside of a number you can count on one hand, is not really lucrative unless you were a star before that or you're a regular on something like The Simpsons.
The only advice I have for her is “if you don’t like the person you’re marrying, you won’t like the person you’re married to.” You can’t love him into changing, he’s too immature to change himself - you said ‘yes’ to the potential you see in him, not the actual person he is.
Guarantee he’s going to slack off in the marriage too. His fiancé already has the care giving role and willing to support her loved ones. Her telling him to do better and disregarding is disrespect. You should want to do better for yourself and at least do better for the person you’re apparently in love with. This is no way to start a marriage. She’s just going to be another enabler to him.
Caleb, you need to start asking your guests how many hours a week they spend playing video games and scrolling on their phones. It would quickly uncover why they are making no money and are still dependent on their parents as grown a$$ adults. It's maddening. 😡
@cjmsource If over half of society play some sort of game or scrolls their phones, then you're shit out of luck I'm sorry. There is nothing you can do about your perceived "societal problem"
No that was self aware - the ability to self analyze and the ability to enact change are two different things. Dude is struggling with the latter. Years of unrealized potentials - he clearly wants to be an entertainer, voice acting & Grinch performance were the only things he expressed any emotional interest in. Trouble is he isn't currently skilled enough to get there, and climbing the metaphorical ladder isn't feasible. "Hollywood doesn't have a help wanted sign". Saturated market and he seems to have no unique differentiator, but he's in a living situation that hasn't forced him to make entertainment a hobby. He'll make a really great DM for friends one day, join a local improv group, or take cosplaying really seriously.
They're both dreamers (she wants to make a living as an artist), she's just (much) more grounded than he is. It may be out of necessity tho (her family probably doesn't enable her like his does). Credit to her for doing what is necessary to pay the bills and having no debt, but earning a living as an artist takes talent, drive and some luck.

Absolutely furious that Caleb is recommending that they get married and join finances. The benefits to Sam are clear, but what does Penn get from that? She'll be on the hook for a guy who has shown no initiative in saving money, or earning it in the first place; as if supporting her family isn't enough, she needs another dependant? By all means continue dating for, say, another year and if his behaviour changes - and more importantly STAYS CHANGED - they can both take their incomes and savings into an equitable marriage, and my blessings to both of them. But advising a quick marriage and merged finances while the only person bringing anything to the table is her? You're putting a huge target on her back for financial abuse. Penn, you are young, and there is no rush. We have to believe you see something in Sam that makes you want him for a life partner (you can see from the other comments that many of us are baffled at that, but we only have this video to go off of). But the courthouse will still be there in a year's time, in five years' time, however long it takes for you BOTH to have a strong financial foundation. Please also consider that there are a plethora of men who are not too "machismo" to listen to their FIANCEE'S very valid concerns, and who will not make you feel like a "bitch" for voicing them; who will have conversations with you about what they want your relationship to look like in the short- and long-term future, and plan with you about how to make that happen; and who will work just as hard as you to provide for you and your family. Do not settle for anyone less than you, girl.
Hi there!! I'm Penn, and despite being advised to not look at the comments (which, I'm a curious person, I couldn't help myself) I've been scrolling through everything everyone has been saying and I can see why everyone is so confused and belittling towards him. And me, as well, I understand that my weight is a common point of contention in the comments, and I was actively starving myself at the time which doesn't exactly make you skinnier. When this video was filmed, we were both going through rough mental health issues and have since seen counselors and worked on a lot. Sam is now consistently working anywhere from 40-60 hours a week, and is regularly on sets for different projects. He is tremendously kind and loving, just a bit bull headed when things get stressful. This was my first time being in front of a camera since I was in highschool, and I was very nervous and kinda just blurted the "machismo" bit to fill air since I didn't know what to say. We're in a much better situation than we were, and we're hopefully going to be moving into an apartment near us within the next few months. We genuinely went onto the show to try and glean what insight we could to pull ourselves out of our respective messes.

He should look into doing ghost tours! It’s an evening job that utilizes acting skills and still leaves the daytime for you to do auditions while also supplying a stable income (plus tips can be phenomenal). I’m sure there are plenty in Dallas! I work for Ghosts & Gravestones trolley tour in a different state (you’re a full-on costumed character and take people into graveyards after hours), and I know we just opened a branch in San Antonio - so clearly these kinds of things are in TX. As an educator I can say that other than June, July, and August then there are ALWAYS substitute jobs available; even in small towns. At one point he even stated December is a slow month....umm I have worked in three different school districts and none of them get out for their winter break before December 20th or so. That is a huge chunk of the month and teachers tend to take those three weeks off a ton because they are burnt out by then and their break is near. And while teachers are discouraged from taking days off the week before or after a break, it just means the type of leave they take is affected. As Caleb said...the flu happens. Obviously this guy is just saying any excuse he can, but it is frustrating as an educator who sees the struggles of finding subs every single day listen to this.

This!!!
Totally agree! Make them pull up their screen time
Bro. That's like 50% of the population. That question is meaningless
“Bro, it’s a huge societal problem. Ignore it.”
@cjmsource If over half of society play some sort of game or scrolls their phones, then you're shit out of luck I'm sorry. There is nothing you can do about your perceived "societal problem"
The moment he said "Maybe a bit more than a standard individual" made it clear to me that this person has an inflated ego.
No one is talking about how this guy said being a pro baseball player was his plan A…
I already didn’t like this dude from the start and then he dropped that little line and I lost all respect for him.
Oh, I came to the comments just to see people’s response to that statement.

Shes extremely wise for her age and you can tell she looks far ahead into the future, unlike him.
yeah she definitely looks fat
oh far ahead
They're both dreamers (she wants to make a living as an artist), she's just (much) more grounded than he is. It may be out of necessity tho (her family probably doesn't enable her like his does). Credit to her for doing what is necessary to pay the bills and having no debt, but earning a living as an artist takes talent, drive and some luck.
@@gregsimoes8645 i almost can see what her art looks like lol
If she looks far ahead she's better loose that extra weight...
Every person on these audits who answers the "what do you do?" question with "a lot of things actually" usually just means a whole lot of nothing 😬😂
If you don't know whether your student loan is federal or private, you're not paying enough attention to your finances.
He didn't know her age either. Geesh
@tyler9281 How can people tell, though? I don't know a thing about the subject.
Post office worker here! We are shorthanded EVERYWHERE it takes a while to get hired on and do the onboarding but its a good job if you stick with it sooooo apply people apply we're dying 😂
Thank you for the advice! I've been looking for recommendations for places other than fast food to apply for work. I've applied to every fast food location, restaurant and grocery store in my area. I'll definitely apply!
Good to know just in case! I have 2 post offices near me
Spoke to a post office supervisor a few days ago. The hiring process is extremely easy now. They are not doing testing or making it complicated to get hired. Now is the EASIEST moment to get hired. It's not a dream job, but it's an easy way to make a chunk of change in a short amount of time.
My boyfriend's been at the post office for two and some change years. He started as an MHA and now he's training to be a dispatch operations supervisor. Almost doubled his base pay in two years.
Also the Audio Visual industry is hurting and needs people. With no experience you’ll start around $15-$20/hr + travel costs covered. If you take interest you could easily go up to $500-$1000/day if you are a A1 or L1
I love that these videos are scheduled just in time for my lunch break at work hehe, thanks Caleb.
That’s awesome

Perfect timing! I couldn’t agree more!
She’s better than me because I would’ve left this dude, she’s putting up with way too much.
That doesn’t mean she’s better than you ❤ not putting up with shit is a good thing
She's not better, she probably just has a lower self esteem. She seemed in a hurry to get married with that guy... clearly she doesn't know her worth. Anyone with an ounce of self respect wouldn't settle for abysmal levels of the barrel. She doesn't need marriage, she needs therapy! Help to rebuild her self esteem.
@@LilyEvans1996 true. Tbh, some of these dude need a hard slap of reality, I’m glad Caleb was the one to deliver! 😂
I think it' always been her life. She has been supporting her parents and siblings since 19. He is what she has always known. Not saying her mom doesn't need the help, just saying this is her life pattern, and he is probably looking for someone just like her (like his parents) who let him chase his dreams and ignore reality. Hopefully someone gives him some tough love like Caleb.
@@jennifereldridge4795 Exactly! She looks like someone was raised a people pleaser. She likely is used to thinking she has no worth beyond what she can do for others. He is probably looking for a mom replacement to do everything for him, and who will put him first and feed his ego.
Well done and best of luck!@@abirb9867
Sooo hes basically a well spoken bum 😢
Not that well spoken. He talks in circles of a whole lotta nothing. He speaks the way a short sighted immature person speaks when trying to sound intelligent. He’s just doing another acting gig playing an adult :)
“He’s machismo” bro had nerve to nod 😭

He should look into doing ghost tours! It’s an evening job that utilizes acting skills and still leaves the daytime for you to do auditions while also supplying a stable income (plus tips can be phenomenal). I’m sure there are plenty in Dallas! I work for Ghosts & Gravestones trolley tour in a different state (you’re a full-on costumed character and take people into graveyards after hours), and I know we just opened a branch in San Antonio - so clearly these kinds of things are in TX.
Ps - Absolutely ADORED her Ghost shirt ❤️ My husband and my fav band ❤️

I think his “disability” is just an excuse to not work where he can’t do the voice acting thing. He believes he’s going to get some kind of big break from it and he’s not even that good.
getting married isn't expensive; throwing a big fancy party is. We need to challenge the social pressure for the 'do' . What is more important? Committing to a loved one or getting tens of thousands in debt?

I like the Ramsey $1k savings account for those times you need to cover daycare for a week until pay comes in or something like that. Caleb is for more realistic on how to build a budget. Beans and rice is just not possible for a majority of people. I think Caleb suggests the avalanche over snowball method for paying off debt, and would suggest balance transfers or even debt consolidation in some cases. His investment advice is much more realistic than Ramsey. Caleb is definitely a good show for financial advice.

As an educator I can say that other than June, July, and August then there are ALWAYS substitute jobs available; even in small towns. We are going through a national teacher shortage and now is when school districts offer long-term sub positions in addition to day-to-day jobs.
“They didn’t fire me, they’re cutting costs”
Buddy, I’m sorry but you got fired, politely.
Yeah 😂 if you are being let go, and there’s no one else or very few people being let go, you’re being fired. If it’s abunch of people it’s a layoff
Even if it truly was part of a cost-cutting measure, if his work persona is anything like how he is presenting here - excuses, not motivated to work, etc - no employer would wring their hands over picking him as a first cut.
The fact that his favorite character doesn’t have any speaking lines is evidence enough. Yikes. lol
Yeeeaah....he doesn't seem like that great of a voice actor. Granted, we only have this limited interaction to verify, but still..
I shouldn’t laugh 😂
He said he doesn’t do main characters, just background and filler ones. I believe I know the show he’s talking about and the character he mentioned is the studio mascot that get randomly inserted into the show during transition scenes. And as he said this character doesn’t have any actual lines, just noises
I’m a little confused as to why he’s dubbing over random noises with… random English noises?
She deserves so much better. Hopefully they can at least get good couples counseling.
