Putting well-earned money into the stock market can be over emphasized for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! Well, basically times are uncertain, the market is out of control, and banks are gradually failing. I am working on a ballpark estimate of $5M for retirement, and I have a good 6-figure loaded up for this, could there be any opportunity for a boomer like me? I'm nearly 60.

It is pretty much a concrete reality at minimum levels. You need food, shelter and money to pay the bills. Preferably you also need a plan for the health issues and old age.

I needed to hear this years ago but it's never too late. Such a true statement.
You, I or anyone else actually can't do anything and I think it's a relatively dangerous idea to get into people's heads. It doesn't take into account all the factors that are outside of our control. For example, can you truly say that someone who was born in a bad environment can do "anything" the same way as someone who had a good upbringing? Thinking you can do anything is a sure way to disappointment with your life because you would also have to think that your success as well as your misfortune are completely within your control, and that's simply not true.

I think the closest thing to real passive income is something like stock/dividends because passive income means little to no effort while earning money. The fact that i relate to Jhon so much , and i get to watch this video and hear that my life can become what i wish in the future...it s really soothing. To finally know that i lack, and how i can fix it, gives me so much hope again.
I came from a life of poverty, not having what to eat with my parents, to now husteling and working actively every minute for every penny, with the reward of food, but not a house to live in.

Just discovered your channel as I've been feeling stuck, as if my life has been devoid of meaning for more than a year after an entrepreneurial "failure," which resulted in a mundane consulting job. I've been feeling empty, demotivated, alone and lost. THIS is the video I needed to remind me of the thrill and drive that come with entrepreneurship-taking action, the dedication required, and the importance of not giving up on your goal if that's what you truly desire. I will modify my plan! This video was incredible. It felt like a gentle slap in the face from a close friend who's a firm believer in entrepreneurship-much needed. Thank you!
This is the kind of content I wish you would do more of - it feels more like the authentic discussions you would have on Not Overthinking - I like hearing you apply your critical thinking in this more relaxed and intimate approach vs the slick overproduction.
Without trying to intellectualise the idea of financial freedom, to me it simply means you have no worries about paying your bills, have enough savings for rainy days, live a comfortable and decent lifestyles (nothing posh or elaborate), fancy meals once a while, travels to nice places once a year and able to do daily activities without penny pinching myself and worrying whether I would be able to afford it or and not be in bad debts. That's financial freedom to me anyway. p/s: Love your videos Ali

I'm autistic and i want financial freedom so that i can freely be autistic, avoid having to mask my true personality to be professional and persue my special interests full time :) if i was the kind of person who could happily work an office job, then i would do that. I'm not after anything luxurious. I just want to be me :) thank you for this video!
My teenage daughter is also autistic. I hope you can break those chains off your shoulders of self doubt and be the true you regardless what other people think. What people think is their problem. I know my girl often feels the same way. Be you. There's only one of you and you are unique, gifted, talented, beautiful, and wonderfully created and loved. Take care.

When Ali was talking about surrounding yourself with people that have similar goals, it dawned on me that although I don’t have friends around me that want similar things, I am very focused on my goals because of the family I come from and the content I consume online. For example I binge Ali’s content all the time. His videos have helped me in understanding a lot when it comes to growing on UA-cam and becoming financially free. He always points out the things I’m doing wrong without even talking to me. 😂

Dear Ali, what a wonderful 40 plus minutes I spent listening to your video while doing household chores. I am a stay at home mom for 2 small children. My brother who is a Doc too in India, introduced me to your channel. And this particular video was the affirmation I needed for today. I listen to Audible on double the speed when I want to learn about something but I always tend to avoid books related to money because I am scared of never making it big. But now I am committed to break out of my comfort zone and try these books. Thank you so much for your channel and your recommendations. Also your channel is such a great listen to homemakers too. What you said at the end of the video “The goal of financial freedom is not financial freedom, it’s choosing a goal that you feel it’s worthwhile and working towards it while enjoying the journey” it’s so true! Let’s assume we get there we know the knowledge and the paths we can take and everything, maybe a harder question comes, “I want to use this knowledge on the thing that i ENJOY doing, learning about it, working for it for the rest of my life” I know passion comes from exposure, exploration and effort. My favorite time to listen to podcasts and audiobooks is while I'm cutting the grass and doing other yardwork. That gives me 4-5 hours a week to consume information. I listened to this entire video while cutting the grass today. I've about had it with my financial situations and I'm taking the steps to correct it. I will be getting "Millionaire Fastlane" and "Million Dollar Weekend." This was a great listen today. Thanks Ali!

Not sure how intentional this was, but this is a great title for this video. Got me way more intrigued than something like " the key to financial freedom" I think the key words honest advice made me think popular advice on this topic isn't given honestly but this video will deliver it honestly and uniquely on things I haven't considered. Excellent title 👏
I'm sorry, kids or no kids, job or no job, if you can't find time to read a book (or listen to a book/podcast), you are just CHOOSING not to read/listen. I have 2 kids, a FT job, side projects, kids' school activities, 3-4 different sports, scouts, and other family/life obligations and I ALWAYS find/make time to read and listen to podcasts. I might not be as successful as I want to be (ie i still work 9-5 and desperately want to monetize one of my projects), but there is ALWAYS 30-60 minutes in a day one can find to read/learn/listen to something that will benefit them. Many just choose not to....just like I choose not to EXECUTE the things I learn from these books/podcasts that could have made me financially free from my 9-5 many times over. We all struggle with something, but usually we are just making excuses to mask our failure.

Between going to school full time, working full time, working out to improve my health to reduce my health issues, when I have the time to either read a book or watch X-Men ‘97, I CHOOSE to watch X-men every time. I guess I can’t help failing in this regard, and you know what? I am more than okay with that.

Strange that for years, I thought a stable full time secure job was what I wanted…. And I got it… then the toxicity at work started with a new boss… then covid… and my mental health (and physical health) took a nose dive because of the said perfect job. Within a year and a half, I decided to put my well-being first. After a series of events and plan A not working out, I decided to return to a city I had lived in before the”perfect” job and take on part-time free lance work. I unintentionally and unknowingly followed the gps model. Now, I only work 15 hours a eeek…. enough to live the life I want, and have a few hundred dollars of savings. I spend the rest of my time, taking care of myself. This is my idea of financial freedom.
