    Fantastic video as always, Dave. So many great tips. I love how you always emphasize feeling. It's all about feel. It's everything.
    Thank you so much for providing this priceless content.
    Rest in peace, Jimi. \m/

    Hey Dave, two other easy mods for a Wah; 1) lower the switch to increase the sweep. Just unscrew the hex washer and adjust until toe down is at the lowest point before engaging the switch. 2) there’s a plastic loop looking part against the gear of the pot. Loosen the screw and you can adjust the pot so that at max toe down it’s brighter or darker. Easy to customize your sound.

    Somehow I end up missing Jimi and his music more every year (if that is possible?). The combination of playing and song writing is for me still unsurpassed by any other musician since and that's not to decry anyone else's efforts as I absolutely love several other guitarists as well. I try very hard not to play in imitation of Jimi's style (I have nowhere near your talent Dave) but instead just allude to it when playing his songs. Every now and again in life we have the great gift of witnessing genius that lifts our lives above our ordinary selves. Jimi was just such a gift. How could we not miss him ? Edit - just to add as you forgot to that Jimi could make his wah wah imitate ducks on Rainy Day Dream Away :-) .

      I completely agree. To me there is Jimi and then there is the rest. He was totally unique in every way possible. I love many guitarists but none have the same impact on me as Jimi has.

    The chinese build V847A is my favorite WAH for any genre, only two things that it misses out on is an LED and a dustproof pot.
    A bit confused when you talk WAH sound: With a true bypass pedal, when the pedal is in bypass mode (off), the guitar signal is routed directly onward.
    Type of bypass should have nothing todo with the sound of an engaged WAH.
    Regardless, I don't see any reason to mod it to true bypass, since it works extremely well getting the guitar signal handed forward without coloring the sound while disengaged in my signal chain, a lot of other WAH's I tried do that, even some of the more expensive ones.
    Thanks for the tip with the rubber feet, did cut them where they have an inner bevel, very easy to turn it on/off and still easy to feel, plus I should not be able to floor out the on/off switch. :)

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 5 років тому

      Removed the rubber feet completely for instant on/off switching, spring in the switch could be a bit tighter on my WAH.
      I kinda wish that VOX made this with a movement sensor for on/off and an adjustable time out delay, so that the WAH activates when you move the pedal on it and turns of after adjustable ms when you stop moving it, besides adding a dustproof pot. :)

    • @sunepedersen8537

      @@mrcards169 I modded mine after I build a Clone Bender Mk1, the germanium transistors didn’t like buffered bypass, they are not happy with active pups either. 😁
      Doesn’t matter with any of my other pedals, I just like that old bender circuit so much that I had to fix my favorite Wah.
