I saw Joe Jackson in NYC about 20 years ago. I was with someone who knew someone and we ended up in a small bar after the show with Joe Jackson and a few others. The place wasn’t crowded; Joe was friendly, easy to approach and we had a decent conversation. He listened to whoever he was speaking with and just hung out until we left. A great guy!
If the Bar was in Soho, we might have crossed paths! I was in town for the New Music Seminar and I was in SoHo tripping on LSD and Joe Jackson walked by me and into a very small Bar. Too High to say Hi.
Saw Joe & his band back in the late 70s & early 80s WOW what shows, I cant think of one band today who even comes close and he is still doing it that new Duke album is amazing.....
Dynamite video...thanks for posting. 1980...the year I graduated High School, and everyone was listening to Joe Jackson. Look Sharp and I'm the Man hit us all like a ton of bricks. Joe is doing his angry young man bit here, and believe me, in 1980, as today, we just love(d) it.
This man is in my soul. He gave me the soundtrack of my youth ....helped shape my worldview, validated my joy, pain and anger , and gave me the best live shows imaginable.
❤❤ I come back, too. Every movement is perfection, his sense of humor with the audience and crew, and it's kind of a sad song. His lyrics show how vulnerable he really is.
Yes, it is! Had it on Vinyl, back in the day when music, musicians and stereo equipment was the BEST sounding....! Sorry, Bluetooth sucks, I must be from the dinosaur era.... lol
Was at a small club in Atlanta (Alex coolies) electric ball room, magical night with Joe and his band. They used the same restroom as the public. Those were special times for this musical genre
We were all much younger then, 40 years ago, frightening! The last time I dressed up for Halloween, it was as Joe Jackson on the cover of I'm the man, I was 14. We figured we'd take one last stab at childhood.
Hetty, That's the beauty, soul & genius of Joe Jackson. His sardonic wisdom even at such a young age lends the real power to his music. I believe that he's one of the greatest song writers and arrangers of the 20th Century!
I met Joe while working in the cocktail bar at the holiday inn in Chelsea. As an 🇦🇺, what a great experience it was back in the day😊 Lovely, humble guy.
Was there ANY better than Joe and the band during the New Wave/Punk era? No, not even close. Their combination of song writing, innovation, musical prowess, raw energy and live performance was completely unparalleled. No others that could do it all like Joe and the boys.

Saw him on the "Night and Day" tour in Sept '82 @ the Aragon Ballroom, Chicago. He kept berating the audience and generally seemed angry for most of the show.
Graham remains my freaking hero. So solid, while basically being the main melodic instrument in the band. Check out the wild stuff he plays under the chorus, and then the out. A stinkin' genius I say.
It’s wonderful to see some appreciation for Graham Maby’s bass playing. The guy was perfect for this band and on Joe’s first couple of albums. Read an interview where he said fans ask why he played differently on Joe’s later material and on other projects. Guess they don’t realize that a melodic and punchy style doesn’t work for all genres.
Joe Jackson's work and image still feel really fresh. I was really surprised that his songs weren't 90's. He's played a lot on the radio and could have sworn these were released in 96 or something.
It seems fresher, not as old as the 80s, because you remember it so well, as if it was really the 90s when it came out. At least we can remember to begin with haha 😂 I realize your post is a year old, but thought I would reply anyway 🤗 take care...

Without a doubt, Graham Maby is the most under-rated bass guitarist in the history of Rock & Roll. The guy is beyond talented, he's gifted!
3 cats made me want to be a bass player: Graham, Pino, and Pete Farndon, with a special mention for Tina Weymouth.
los blancos
Graham is my friend Laurie's cousin. Joe wrote the song Is She Really Going Out With Him about Graham's sister.

Add his vocals so complement Joe. Nice high range
Perhaps his best song for all of you sophisticates who need to wise up. Aside from the role reversal it's got a haunting gorgeous sound.
Yes he was, great maybe still could be, I see him in Portsmouth, UK, now and then, it would be great to see him come back
It's not role reversal, it's just a man speaking his experience.

Not very often you see an artist completely lost in the song, and doesn't care what people think of him or how he looks on stage, lost in music.
