Joe Jackson could do everything. Was THE punk rock star, tuned it on a penny, had THE pop it, and also did big band work at a very high level. Most underrated musician of all time tbh

Totally agree. Joe and the band put out a ton of energy on stage and the audience just sits there like beatniks at an artsy fartsy coffee house. This seems to be par for the course at Rockpalast. There's video of the Stray Cats rocking the asses off in a great performance and the Rockpalast audience just gives a golf clap at the end. Maybe in Germany they're just extra polite or maybe the management hands out free Xanax before every concert. Whatever. It must be frustrating for the bands.

I didn't even turn 11 until the end of 1979, and my first 2 albums were Toys In The Attic, and Book Of Dreams Steve Miller bought in 1977, and I didn't understand new wave like the motels b52s etc, but I loved this guy and I really loved the Police and their 2 albums they had out at the time, but with the Police as soon as they came out with da do do do they lost me cuz that just seemed so stupid and gay! I know the Police were a great band but their first raw sounding stuff to me was when they nailed it, and this guy Joe Jackson was majorly under rated. Back then he seemed like a little bro band to Elvis Costello, and without his commercial is she really going out, and steppin out, he would be all but forgotten. My next gig in 79' was Tom Petty. When Torpeados came out I was all in, and then I discovered RUSH 2112. My friend and I were so into RUSH that we passed up going to see the Stones 1981 show with Prince opening. My friends uncles had a Winnebego and 2 extra tix, but to us the Stones were "Start Me Up" and the Tatoo You album and that was our limited view of them so we said nah, and I still kick myself. I did see them with Guns in 89 though.
