That intro was everything I needed after the insane announcements from Nvidia
I can't unsee Jensen as Tony Montana.
I was almost like ' no he didn't', then 'bwhahahaha'

Dear Paul, I joined UA-cam with my account in 2006 and for the past 16 years I have subscribed and unsubscribed to dozens of channels. In all this time I have never actively clicked "the bell icon" for any channel - I find it highly annoying. Your channel is the first one to change that for me and while it may mean little to anyone it's a big deal for me. Thanks for your uplifting news and demeanor. All the best.
I really hope the video won't get demonetized, your sense of humor is always top-notch. Absolutely love your content.

Hey -Patrick- Paul, how's the -Alder Lake- Ryzen 7000 testing going?
If moore's law is dead then maybe they shouldn't expect to get paid more for offering less or the same, or maybe they should be offering more in some other areas in order to "justify" their mark up, like maintaining the same specs but more optimized, or more "flair"
Well, they have will DLSS and RT3.0, but I agree. At a minimum they shouldn't have cut down the memory bus. Put a 512-bit bus on the 4090 because it is the 4090. 384-bit bus on the 4080 16GB and 256-bit on the RTX4075 (4080 12GB).
They'll know if Moore's law is dead when their GPU's are on the shelves.
It's an interesting thought experiment if, say, 3N/3 nm is the last manufacturing technology that's possible. What would happen to prices?
@@SuperFlamethrower theoretically speaking, if something has reached its peak and no "objective" improvement can be made, the only way to raise its price is either, adding luxury options, vanity options, marketing or making a "cartel"
@@SuperFlamethrower they have gotten 2nm. But stacking is the next step.
The intro was pure Comedy Gold XD
I love that intro! Well done, Paul and Joe!
It was crack-tastic!
I didn’t realize just how terrible the 4080 12 GB is, thanks for educating us! Also, 30 mating cycles for 12VHPWR connectors seems like an unwise cost-saving measure, hopefully you never have issues with that in the coming months! Take care everyone!
I'm definitely going for the rdna 3 paired with a ryzen 7 this time. I was so dead set on getting a 4070 but holy shit, nvidia went beyond the pale with their greed.
I'm guessing the card they name 4070 will actually be more like 4060. What a sad announcement we've seen.
@@ArtisChronicles 4060? you mean the RTX 4080 6gb? :V
@@ArtisChronicles I can't imagine how cut down the real 4070 is going to be after setting the 4080 12gb bar so low.
As if people thinking amd cards will be that much cheaper. Intel shit the bed, nvidia and amd are gonna gouge us on their prices because they control the market. Their rx 6000 prices were only slightly cheaper than the rtx alternative. I can only hope they don't do that again but I have low hopes.
nGreedia is not a nickname.
Careful Paul. Taking too much of that Nvidia substance could potentially turn you into a Night Baron, that gives you a new level of brilliance and absolute dark power which could withstand up to 5kg of load bearing.
Okay that intro is what we all need when all this tech drops lol 😂
Paul always delivers a great blend of humor with information.
4:55 until you realise he halved the die size from 3080 to 4080 12/16 at 300mm and 380mm vs 628mm so even if the wafer doubled it would be the same cost, if not less due to better yields on smaller dies.
Yep, and peeps tend to think a die runs hundreds of dollars on it's own, when actually just tens
the BOM on the 4080 12GB is less than a 3080, so even at $700 Nvidia would make more profit then a 3080.
You shouldn't expect 2x the performance anymore, but you should still expect prices to rise drastically though.
😆 🤣 these are the times I envy you Paul. Nothing like running benchmarks 24/7 away from family and running on no sleep.
Oh wait ✋️, no I appreciate the dedication to us during the launches to give us your thoughts on on these new items.
Thank you Paul.
And thank your family for the time you are giving us. 🙏
I love this style of humour, how it's worked in while still keeping the show serious overall
0:42 .... best intro ever!!
I'll be interested in the non-RTX, non-DLSS benchmarking comparisons for the 40 series against the 30 series.
I’m calling it the 4070 will be equivalent to the 3060ti without dlss and rtx
I would have to believe the non-RTX non-DLSS performance won't be much better than the 30 series. The short clip featuring the Cyberpunk77 shows about 24 fps on average with both listed as off.
It is hard not to watch this Paul guy, great quality as always!
Excellent news recap as always Paul, always makes my days.
P.S: Also, I respect the usage of that Bahubali clip when talking about how something can become so absurd it loops back around and becomes awesome.
I actually just got a be quiet pure base FX (on sale too) and that thing is amazing! Went from blacked out to this case with tasteful RGB and it’s awesome. Really changed up my build and my thermals for the better. My H510 served me well but this is on a whole new level case wise. Thanks for always keeping us in the loop!!!
0:40 That intro wasn't something I expected from Paul. I'm laughing so hard b/c how true it is
Aside from the disastrous pricing, 4070 (AKA: 4080 12gb), the news that to use a 4090 SAFELY, you should also buy an ATX 3.0 psu which is currently available NOWHERE. That burns.
I don't think Nvidia said anywhere that you need to have an ATX 3.0 PSU to use it safely. Wasn't it that people got outraged about the 30 plug cycles for the PCIe 5 adapter, but the 30 plug cycles were standard for decades? Though to be fair, it is weird Nvidia emphasized it when nothing has changed.
Nvidia gave AMD a gift with these insane prices.
Let's hope they accept their gift
I'd wait until you see the price of the new AMD cards, you may also need some crack.
This gift was offer few times still and arent using the gift the right way this time they will not again hope im wrong
This gift was offer few times still and arent using the gift the right way this time they will not again hope im wrong
That gift being the opportunity to sell slightly less overpriced cards than nvidia and get praised for it
Always enjoy your take on the tech news.
These video's always start my Sunday off with a good chuckle.
Best laugh I've had in months. Your "tech briefs" are always amusing, but this was peak performance. Bravo good sir!
Nvidia is definitely smoking something with those prices! I can only hope that the 40 series does terrible and their profits take a big dump forcing Nvidia to lower their prices and correct their mislabling of the 12gb 4080 (4070 in disguise). Hopefully AMD takes advantage of this opportuniy becasue this could give AMD the chance it needs to take a big chunk of the gpu market and get ahead, just like they did with ryzen cpus. I'm sure there will be some price increase with AMD cards as well but hopefully it will be more realistic/reasonable price increase. I knew when Jensen started talking to himself (aka virtual Jensen) that he'd lost all sense of reality. Also, the investor meeting that leaked, and how he was talking about maniplulating the market, really says a lot about how Nvidia works. You know all companies do the same thing but when you actully hear people at the top talk about it, it really sinks in how companies could care less about the consumer. Its all about the profit.
I think that they won't rename the downgraded 4080, but will produce a clearly inferior 4070 instead. Most likely with reduced Vram in order to try and save face on this. It's funny how they have so clearly been busted on their shady maneuver.
If AMD comes out with a RX7800XT that's in the same performance range as the RTX 4080 12GB and can price it at $699 or less it might get Jenson to lay off the shrooms.
Even more pathetic is that the supposed 4080 12GB has the specs of a 60 series card. The 4080 16GB should have been the 4070 and the 4090 should be the 4080 leaving room for a titan like product at the top. Unfortunately we all got duped by nvidia's deceptive naming conventions.
@@thephantomchannel5368 You're only duped if you buy one.

I like the "midnight kaleidoscope" branding. It's an exact description of how the card looks
Those performance per dollar comparisons are gonna be ... POTENT.
from 650W max psu to 1000W max psu for an ordinary PC is madness
The thing is, in an ordinary pc a 1050 can be considered overkill and you only need something like that if you want more monitors than integrated graphics can handle.

Fantastic intro, Paul. Just pure gold.
Love your humour, Paul, keep it up! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was hyped for the 4090 and was okay with the $1599 price..but as more days go by..I feel i'm going to go Team red.
For me, a slight increase in FPS and RTX isn't worth a near $500 price difference at the high end.
And that's not even taking power consumption into account.
Team Red for me. I have a dream of pairing a Ryzen 9 7950x with an RTX 7950 XT.
4090 pricing didn't even bother me. It's a halo product targeted towards enthusiasts and prosumers. But the 4080 and the *4080 12 gig are huge disappointments, because they should not be anywhere near $1,000. Especially the 12 gig version with its anemic specs for its price point.

Those results reflect what people will see in real games, not games overloaded with real-time ray tracing or making up artifact-laden false frames with DLSS 3 (which will also add latency).

Info so far indicates Ryzen is still the correct choice.
@@ffwast How? Raptorlake will be faster, and AMD's stack below the 7950X is poorly priced
@@meltingfaces10 it will be faster. it will be priced above the ryzen series. it will suck over 100w more at times.
@@meltingfaces10 Lower end raptor lake won’t faster and that’s no guarantee that the 13900k will be faster on average then the 7950x in gaming. The prices are the same as last gen. If you can’t afford it then that’s a personal problem.
In a very similar boat to you, been rocking a 5820k for the last 7 and a half years. It's been a trooper, but I'm very ready for an upgrade
No idea what Nvidia is smoking either. I'm hoping AMD really takes advantage of this opportunity and prices their cards reasonably. They could snag a huge section of the market if they play this right.
I hope so too, but then again AMD might take advantage of this to be greedy as well. I'm guess they will go the greedy route although toned down a bit to still be cheaper in an attempt to snag more market share.
Nvidia won't lose their market share.
Excellent video, great news recap.
Thanks Paul. ❤
Nvidia: "Moore's Law is dead!"
Also Nvidia: Launches AD103, a chip that is over 2.5x as transistor dense as GA102 which launched 2 years ago.
30 plug cycles is insane. If it has the same specs as Molex that should be a huge red flag. Cables are normally rated in the thousands of cycles.
Nice job Paul! out of all of the reviewers on YT, I love your working man's take on technology! Now let's pour a cold one!
Wasn't expecting the snort with powder 😂😂
Not the hero we asked for, but Paul is the hero that we need
I'm going to wait for the competition to show their hand, but I'm not convinced they aren't going to get greedy themselves. I'll buy whatever the best deal is at that time.
I mena worst Case amd slashed their furent card price.. 6900XT for 650$ which beats hand down a 3090ti in most games if you don't factor dlss/rtx. It's not a bad deal.
And if you consider that with those settings the 4080 is just barely as good a 3090ti...but cost 900$ then... Well again a good deal
That's my opinion. Best bang for the price range I am willing to pay at the time. I really only look at performance, stability, and the price. And heat, tech, and power secondarily. Who cares what team makes it.
Man I hate that UA-cam demonetizes your stuff. I really enjoy the content.
Best intro on the internet this year haha! Really laughed out loud when you disappeared under the table snorting! :)
I am upset about Nvida pricing, I think it's time to knock them down a peg and purchase a team red card. I will definitely vote with my wallet.
I always buy top cards on both brands on every major gpu launch. As a system builder who spends upward of $20,000 on PC parts every year this time around I'm not buying Nvidia cards no matter how much faster they are than AMD. I'm done with their obscene business ethics.
Yeah, I was going to buy a 4090 but after what they did to the 4070, I will never give them my money again.
Always great content! Keep on keeping on
Solid 12VHPWR edits there Joe.
If AMD doesn't have a GPU that is available, competitive, and fairly priced, then I'll just be getting a creatively acquired 4000 card. It worked to get a 3080 last year at a fair price, so F it.
What do you mean by that?
Yikes. I already saw the specs for 4080 (12GB) at announcement and nearly instantly knew that name was full of @*#&. But I didn't make the connection about the 192-bit bus is actually the 6-Tier.. I'm sure that the 4080's will both have to come out as soon as possible because once AMD gets the Navi31 cards to market those 4080 prices are gonna look way more like the snide spit in teh face they are.
10:53 I had no idea Molex connectors (also) had so few connection cycles to them. They've always been a pretty junky connector type but haven't had a serious issue with them. I feel like there should be a shift to higher quality longer lasting connectors because PSUs are meant, or at least expected, to last for multiple system builds. 🤔 I have seen some PSUs that generally feel higher quality with their connectors and how they attach, but not sure if rated cycles would change in that case.
Thanks Paul 👍
Not buying anything this gen, excited nonetheless 👍
AMD just needs to replicate Sony's PS4 announcement. "Here are our GPUs and they're cheaper."
People need to stop automatically expecting them to be cheaper. If they are cheaper; it definitely won’t be by much.
@@apricotmadness4850 AMD has marketing graphics showing their cost advantage over Nvidia, showing $/FPS being lower, so yes, we should expect them to be cheaper. They're also somewhere in the range of 15-18% of the market share compared to Nvidia, so price to performance is one easy way to gain market share. Will they be demonstrably cheaper? Probably not, but all they have to do is be more reasonably priced than Nvidia to gain good PR.
@@meleniumshane90 How long has AMD been “undercutting” Nvidia? It’s been multiple generations and they still haven’t gained any considerable market share. Their bound to realize this sooner or later and properly have now. AMD also had to price them lower in the past as the performance was not in the same league. That’s changed now. They have legitimate rtx killers now.
@@apricotmadness4850 They have no new product specifications announced yet, so the "RTX killers" remain to be seen. However, based on the marketing graphics they put out a few days back on their currently released products (RX 6000 series), and the methods AMD used to gain considerable market share from Intel over the past few years, they are focusing on price to performance metrics to increase product sales. They don't necessarily have to have the best product, just the best per dollar. Nvidia is making that very easy right now.
@@meleniumshane90 The 6000 series were the RTX killers in some regards. In lower resolutions; they were faster on average in pure raster performance if only by slightly. One day in the not too distance future, all the RTX cards will use DLSS3.0 and it will be a splendid jump indeed for all of us that jumped onboard 3000 series cards going cheap. But I may not even get to experience any of that as I wait patiently for AMD to stunlock all of us Nvidia junkies and possibly even provide a cure at a reasonable price. Too much to ask? Really the way the world is today, I couldn't even say.
DLSS3 is snake oil
I really want to see how AMD slaps back at Nvidia. if they hit lower prices and get nearly the same performance for lower power draw and only a slight downgrade in ray tracing performance.
With regards to the 30 connections limit on the 12+4 power connector, is that a limit on the male part of the connector, the female part, or both? I.e. what happens if one is brand new and the other very old? Because if it's the male connector, that's relatively cheap to replace wheras the female part is directly soldered onto the card so very difficult to replace.
