It was only supposed to be temporary, but after a very short time I decided (with much encouragement from you guys) that my propped-up PC on the shelf I recently installed needed a better solution. Wall-mounting a PC was a challenge but it was helped along by the Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro case, which is VESA mounting bracket compatible. I still had to break out the angle grinder though! Here's how I wall-mounted my main gaming, editing and video capture PC.
Many thanks to Thermaltake for providing the Core P3 TG Pro wall-mountable case!

Bad ideas are a cornerstone of UA-cam Content.
LTT's channel is based on it.
@@Tconl I blocked LTT a couple years ago. They seemed to be getting worse every week for a couple years.
@@paulmartin2348I did that solely because of the thumbnails.

There's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution 😅
I see that you were also in the Army.
Love that Joe almost immediately shamed you into changing the PC so it wasn't hanging off the shelf like that. Good work, Joe.
You can tell its a different generation, when they call just good old "Friendly Suggestions" and calling a possible bad idea out to a friend a co-worker, being "Shamed"..LOL
Joe deserves the credit not the internet.
I give Joe credit a lot, but he usually only remembers the times when I don't 😁 lol
i agree with matt here lol
@joe_editing of course, a completely unbiased opinion. Of course.
I saw Joe on the internet dis one time
Of course, you could say Kyle did the same thing on his channel - like 3 years ago. :D ua-cam.com/video/-2YcpCsL7-M/v-deo.html (He used a Core P5)
Yeah, I'm gonna make a prediction: That Minisplit is gonna leak on your workbench/desk at some point. Make sure it is serviced by a HVAC technician who knows how to clear a drain line, clean the coils and actually cleans the filters. I've seen/had to fix ones that were not well installed, well maintained and neglected. I don't like them be it in my own home or install/servicing them. I think you'll be fine as you're likely to keep it in good order but just make sure the drain line is clear at all times. Using a shop vac on it once a month to clear the drain is a good idea, same time you clean the filter. (You clean the filter, right?)
I was thinking the same thing. It may take years or months but I've seen it happen too many times. Maybe just a few drops but that could be enough to kill electronics near it
Well considering how easy it is to take the cover off a heatpump clean both the coils and drip tray, it really doesn't have to become an issue. Heaps of videos showing how to take these units apart, and you don't have to make a huge mess cleaning them either. 🤷♂
@@hycron1234 There are MANY things in life that take a few minutes to maintain easily but most people never do.
been there
Is that even a wallmounted movable ac... Or simply the inside unit of a minisplit? On my unit, the drain is outside, on the outside unit/part of minisplit.
Core P3 pro on the wall says "Hold my beer" to earthquakes :D
yep. and when my kid was younger, it was up and off the floor so he couldn't pull any cables. great case for any single radiator setup.
I've been building my own computers for over 20yrs. I've never seen a wall mounted case with a vesa mount. Never really thought to look for one to be honest, cool idea and great solution for your studio!
Used the Core P3 Pro for wall mounting my computer. With it having E-ATX support and getting my computer away from standing desk I'm super happy with it. Glad it worked out for you!
I have installed a LOT of cabinets over the years (also in southern California earthquake country).
All you need is one stud with two screws. So long as those screws are properly centered in the stud, two 2 1/2" framing screws will hold the weight of a PC just fine.
I have seen 100lb+ upper cabinets loaded with dishes, mounted with a single screw....
I didn't know you could wall mount a case with a VESA mount. That looks really cool. The original setup did make me feel uneasy as to safe that would be long term.
I've had the OG Core P3 mounted on my wall for the past 5-ish years, best decision I've ever made... Happy to see one of my favourite tech creators make the transition. It's gonna need a lot of regular dusting, but it frees up so much of your desk space that the trade off is more than worth it.
I made a similar comment before seeing yours and I agree with it all. I got my P3 case in 2020 during the pandemic when upgrading to 10th gen i9, but I never did end up wall mounting it. As I said above I think this gives me the inspiration to finally mount mine. It's just been on my powered desk behind the monitors. The dust is something I've had to content with as well. Although a few months in I changed my fan profile for my AIO fans to ramp up per the temp and they stay off under 40c
That's a killer case! And a killer overall look! Nice work Paul and Joe! Another sweet video! Thanks for takin us along for the ride and the evolution of how everything is coming together!
First rule of UA-cam content, never do something without planning on leaving something to make more content on.
It's refreshing to watch you go through your builds and try different things unsure if it will work or not, which is pretty much how projects like this go
Using the P3 non-Core for over two years now...on my desk tho, comes w/ feet for support on desktop. Love it!
I have the same case (non-pro) and wall mounted it last summer. Best decision I ever made. I also have it on an articulating wall mount for easy maneuvering. if I need to change anything. and easily take it off the wall. I was eyeballing this series for almost a year before and I've never been happier with a case. Good choice, man!
i built my wife's system in the first gen Core P3 several years ago. very solid construction, and easy to work with. been really happy with it. hers is wall mounted as well
I've owned a P3 for a few years now and I bought mine as a test bench for new builds. It is a very unique product with lots of options. Great pick for a wall mount. 👍
I have one of these for my 2pc setup. Love having it hanging on the wall. Always get compliments too from people who see it and say it’s a heck of an idea.
As someone who also uses a Thermaltake core p3 TG I was stoked when i saw you went with this case for your build. Loved this video!
Thermaltake makes nice wall mounted PC cases! Good job as always Paul & Joe!
I have had my PC wall mounted for about 6 years now, it has honestly been great. It frees up a bunch of space and the PC stays much more clean in general. Plus is just looks nice
Paul I know you made your point in the first 30s, but just for you, I'm going to watch till the end :)
I'd suggest mounting a vertical rail about 6 inches from the back side. This will let the connectors come off the ports straight and then have a more gradual curve down along the rail where they can all bundle more neatly before they head down to the desk. Should give a cleaner look and be better for the cables.
Nice job Paul! Your projects always inspire me to do some DIY and home improvement projects of my own! :)
I've had the core P3 for 7+ years. It's fantastic
That was surprisingly fun to watch. Very cool solution! (Especially cutting off the excess mounting bracket!)
I felt a splash of nostalgia seeing that American Megatrends boot screen. It was on my first PCs more than 30 years ago. Nice to see that some things don't change.
Love these kinds of videos. Thanks Paul!
Was really funny to see you had te same issue I had with the wall mount. I build in the p3 last week and had a 2 part bracket which was 3 inches to wide. Ended up replacing the mount for a vogels slim fit one. Enjoy the space on the desk 👏
Much better! Looks great!
I did a wall mount of mine with the same case a year and a half ago and it’s awesome. Has been great with the vertical gpu mount and I had used the same vesa mount you did as well and ended up just using half of it. But I don’t have to worry about studs in this wall so really didn’t matter where the anchor points were.
I love the idea of a wall mounted case! I would love to do this on my next build. It would free up so much space!
I think I've watched this about 5 times now. I'm looking forward to building on this chassis. Paul, there is a video I've seen where you can cut into the sheetrock and place some cable channels which allows you to hide the cables really well.
Good choice. My work and gaming PCs are wall mounted using these cases and the same VESA mounts you got...
Oh I love the Be Quiet silent base 802 case. One of their best cases Be Quiet has ever made.
Core P3 has always been one of my favorite cases.
bless you Paul for keeping YT janky
That looks awesome !
Cool vid. Perfect use scenario for you
I have the original P1 micro pc case for Thermaltake and the wall mount was the main reason I got it. 7 years ago and three upgrades later it’s still on the wall!
Awesome Choice of Case Paul, I have a Thermaltake P6 and a monster P8 I also have a Tower 200 Just can't get enough of good old Thermaltake cases Excellent Video thx for sharing Paul YOU THE MAN!!
Love this case
What a slick looking setup 👍
@1:30
Thank you, floor PCs trigger me.
Keep up the good work Paul n Joe.
Thanks Paul!
I actually have that case in white, I even got it for the exact same reason, I needed to get my old case off of my desk and didn't want to put it on the floor. Good choice Paul.
Thanks Joe. I was thinking about stg like that, just cable facing down
That's a fantastic case. I'm sure that it will serve you well.
Fun DIY video as usual! 14:50 Yep! I've gotten the habit over time to switch the PSU off then press the power button on the system a few times to expend power before messing with it. At least with my current build and PSU it will sometimes attempt to start for a second on first press, but for the second press it clearly doesn't attempt to start. 👍
Looks really good, great vid!
Man, your system is clean inside. Tidy job.
Thank you Paul
I got the Thermaltake P6 Snow-white case...I like it very much!
Love the vid Paul!, but also what I was thinking, is, daaaayyhm, them side burns are lookin'!
Kudos to Joe, and I think you did a good job. And those sideburns are getting serious.
Looks good. You can always just cover the glass with some frosted clear vinyl. It will stop reflection and give the light behind it a diffused effect.
I really like the open chassis on the TT P3. I decided against using the glass even, which eliminated having to use the top 2 mounting posts, giving it an even more open assembly and really shows off the entire build. Mine does sit on a desk, so I still had to use the bottom 2 posts to mount the base. I have a custom loop so it fills in the mounting space to the right of the motherboard nicely. Not using the glass panel would be an easy solution to the reflection you mentioned at the end of the video.
I actually considered that mount but had no excuse to buy it. I have a NAS that needs a case but my main rig is a serious candidate because it is mostly NVMe drives. Good job, Paul!
During covid I got that same case to wall mount but never ended up doing that. Just sits on my desk but I do like the case a lot, other than it can get dusty. I have an EK 360 AIO and even though its on my desk it still sucks the cats hair into the rad fins, at least before I set my fans to only ramp up when it gets warm. Altogether its a great case but I do have the older model. Getting the back plate off of yours is WAY easier than mine. Mine has hooks that need to slide in and to the side to line up the screw holes. Anyway, I know you'll like it and I think you've inspired me to stop procrastinating and mount the damn thing to my wall!
Mini splits - the drain line can clog over time with dust and dirt and leak down the wall. Make sure you have space to work on the mini split.
Sweet setup
I got the same case about a year ago - overall I love it! Don't have it wall mounted so it's about the most inefficient use of space for a pc build, but I get endless compliments on it. Fits a chonktastic 64mm thick 420 radiator, and I put in an (almost pointless and needlessly expensive) open loop water cooling system for cpu/gpu. My only critique is that there should be more perforation on the back panel, airflow from a rad going out the back is restricted.
That "case" is the GOAT. I use a white one wall mounted without the front glass panel.
Crazy part is, I am using that exact same Be Quiet case in my build, and the last rev P3 wall mounted for my wifes, both great choices, just keep in mind the VRM's in the P3 case can get touch warm. Good choices all around though!!
Nice placement Paul. I would had suggested using like a spare 2x4 or wood plank that would had been installed between the studs but you did made sure its secured. For the wires, a DIY in wall kit could clean and/or hide the cables yet having longer cables for that USB hub could help to bring that HUB and card reader closer to you.
My PC is wall mounted similarly to what was shown at the beginning of the video, with a simple shelf below + I drilled a keyhole shaped hole in the side panel facing the wall (two adjacent holes, one slightly larger than a screw head, one slightly smaller). One screw in the wall is enough to keep everything in place and it could easily sustain the weight of the PC on its own without the shelf.
I own two of these cases, love them
For the cables, go behind the case and run a passthrough going down, into the wall, to the floor.
i have this case, its in white. i built it two years ago. its wall mounted in my living room on a 3 axis swivel TV mount. there are so many files out there for 3D printing on this case. PSU covers, cable hides, radiator mounts. i have two 360mm and one 240mm rad on this case with a vertical mount 3080ti. its dead silent and a great case. does not really get dusty either.
Good video. TY for taking us on the journey. Nice to see even seasoned Tech Tubers have issues with new builds. I would just add a custom cable for the GPU...that extension that comes with the card is ugly
Wow this video inspired me of an idea to get some wire loom for my cable management too just keep enough exposed to reach the ports needed on both ends dang
I love this case. The only case in the market that has ample space to vertically mounted a 4090 and Sound Blaster card with two extender risers. Good spacing between vertical 4090 and NH-U12A cooler so can remove the GPU effortlessly. Mounted it using fixed TV wall bracket. Comes with all the fittings and about 3 inches gap between the wall and the case.
I love that case. last 3 systems I helped with I made them all buy the p3.
That's why teamwork makes the dream work.❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
13:05 We heard all three of those clicks when you connected up your 12VHPWR so here's 🤞 hoping that means you won't have a potential fire hazard instead of an earthquake hazard. Wall mount option you chose looks way more awesome than using an earthquake strap 👍👍
A great solution to your earthquake hazard, looks good!
This is the exact case I used for my wall mount PC
I built a desk pc out of the Core P3 TGs. Very nice cases, especially since I modified mine to relocate the Power Supply's below lol.
As a former infrastructure cabling technician who has mounted thousands of TVs, +1 for using Mounting Dream for the wall mount! They seem to be the most reliable, with kits that include everything needed, while also being competatively priced. Almost as cheap as the "onn" brand, which is usually cheaper but may not include enough plastic spacers or washers needed for specific setups (commomly stocked at walmarts)
I had a build in the TG1 when it first came out. Always planned/wanted to wall mount it but my wall’s stud spacing was/is stupid so it (sadly) ended up on the floor. Still love the chassis series, would totally build in them again.
Love the Core P3. Just with they made a slimmer version with shorter studs.
That actually looks cool.
Please add some rgb fans on the right for looks and to pull in some a bit more air. Also run cables inside the wall if possible to a plate under desk.
Great case..i have the p6 core and its amaixng all white bedt case ever had
Got the same brand dark power pro 1000 watt for the 4070 ti with the 12vhp and works great and can't hear the fan
I have my Alienware R14 on a wide shelf, reinforced with extra strength Velcro for extra stability without any issues. Keep up the great content!
Thats the one thermaltake product I like
Looks nice! Now if we can hide those rear cables, you would be legend. It's kind of the first thing I see in the long shot.
they make wall mountable cases now. Very interesting. I doubt I would ever do it because it just looks terrifying to me, but it's certainly worth considering.
That is my exact case. I have it sitting on the desk as mounting it on a wall will be difficult to access for maintenance, etc. It is a very heavy case. You would think it has good cooling, being open but not. I had to mount an additio9nal fan to provide better airflow.
I got the largest bamboo cutting board I could find on the Home Depot site and a couple of brackets similar to the ones you're using for your shelf. Wide and sturdy.
EDIT: Make sure to mount the brackets on the studs (if possible)... and don't live in an earthquake-prone area :)
I still rock the original P3. Still need to get a PSU mount for it. I bent some brackets just so I could mount the PSU. Still works and still looks great. The 420mm AIO I have barely fits but it does and so I will keep this case for a bit longer!
Regarding the reflections, you could just spray paint a matte clear coat to reduce reflections on the glass.
I think your curtains looks FABULOUS 🤓
Love this case (you'll understand in a minute)....I have the ThermalTake Core P3 for my older pc (built 2016), which has been replaced by the Thermaltake Core P6 TG for my new pc (built 2023) and they are both on display as they are both custom water cooled. So art as well as pc's 😎
Minimal lighting but it looks beautiful with it - the GEFORCE logo is a nice white accent. I think the aesthetic of the glass panel has overemphasised matters and caused a new kind of anxiety but the wall mount option is solid! Nice one man.
Get a darker matte colored static cling of your logo made and put it on the glass. It will cover the fan slots and minimize the reflections. If you get several different ones made with your 8 bit styles, you could change them out, since they would be static clings, and maybe sell a few as well.
Great video. Always nice to see some familiar faces.
I have this exact case, and I was wondering how you were going to solve the capture cards + GPU in a vertical mount. The answer was revealed a little later, haha.
