Me analizying the recipes ... "Conclusion: Koreans basically call pancake everything they can stick together in a pan and fry it, I like it and I like them" lol had never looked so deep into Korean food and all looks awesome, besides you make them easy to cook (no ovrecomplicated recipes) Definetly my definition of "pancake" has changed thanks to this thanks for the video both of you!
I was a little surprised at this, then I remembered a recent video where they showed us "Pancake Alley" ! I laughed when he started on the corn pancake... now I'm thinking "I HAVE a can of corn....". It's in the same place with the Tuna and the SPAM, with the emergency food we keep for hurricanes. One of the things I like about this channel is that he's cooking with stuff that I already have, it's always funny when he says "I know you have this in your refrigerator"....
The korean word for these types of food is called "jeon" and there really is no english equivalent for this so they use pancake as an umbrella term. These "jeon" is an umbrella term which is either the typical pancake-like vegetable or kimchi jeon which is made with a batter and the other type of jeon made with meat or veggies is not in a batter but instead dipped in the flour and egg then fried.
@@EK83749 Thanks for the information, not like the wording matters much to me anyways, they all look awesome and I'd eat them all without even questioning it lol
If you freeze your Perilla pancakes after you flour and stuff them, they keep GREAT! I put wax paper between the layers and then freeze. You can take them out still frozen, dip in egg, and go straight into the pan. It takes just a little longer to cook, but it's so nice to have them ready when you are lazy but hungry.
Kathleen West thank you so much for this tip! love them but I don't like having to make the stuffing for them and the other pancakes every time I want them, so then I just make kimchi pancakes lol.
@@chromberries7329 I just finished up the last of my frozen ones during quarantine. I grew Perilla last year and made a triple batch in September. They tasted nice and fresh in March. I bet you can do the same with the tofu pancakes, but maybe let them thaw a bit first.
I appreciate how accessible you make korean cooking. U make it seem easy when u tell us not to worry too much about exact measurements, to enjoy cooking. I dont enjoy cooking at all so these are good. Also dont worry about your accents, I feel like it gives more character to your channel. And it’s honest, all we could ask for.
I'm making this today for my wife!! Now I get to be Aaron and she gets to be Claire! I've never been so excited walking out of a Korean market!!!! Sending love from the states!!!!!!
Awesome! She's gonna be so happy! If you need the written recipe for this, please check our blog as well. Hope you guys enjoy them, American version of Aaron and Claire! lol 😎😍🤞 aaronandclaire.com
Made my first Korean vegetable pancakes today, thanks to you and my son who went to the Arirang Grocery with me and helped me pick out ingredients. First pancake looked okay, second one looks great. Had to re-watch the video several times, haha😄 Now I look forward to trying the rest of the variations. Many thanks for all your hard work to produce these videos! Greetings from the desert Southwest U.S.A.
Made my first Korean pancakes today, with perilla leaves. I was able to find them at my local HMart. They're DELICIOUS. I did mine with a filling of pork and chives. I'll be making these all the time now....
The way you pronounce “sesame oil” is very good! No need to apologise, the practising has paid off! 👍🏻 love the videos by the way, definitely going to try some as soon as possible!🤪❤️
Hey guys, I already make the Tuna pancake you demonstrated as a regular Sunday breakfast with fried eggs. Now, besides needing to make that Meatball pancake ASAP, your Vegetable pancake brought me back to last year when my wife and I did an eating tour of Koreatown, Los Angeles and we devoured a Seafood pancake (like you said, Aaron, the Vegetable pancake with shrimp and calamari). She and I still talk about how amazing it was! Thanks again for the great instructions and fun videos.
When tasty food comes along...... Claire....”oooooooooooohhhhhhhhh” When Claire eats tasty food.......... Claire.....”mmmmmmmmmmmmm”. I literally cannot get enough of this channel. You guys have made tasty food out of cheaper food we all have in our pantry. Which is so important today, because of the economic effects of covid 19. There is a massive world recession heading our way but that doesn’t mean we can’t eat well xx
I fell in love with Korea when I was stationed there, we had amazing KATUSA's who taught classes and took us places and I even got to invited to spend Korean Thanksgiving with a KOTUSA and his family... very grateful! Your channel fills a bit if that void, if there's anything I can ever do to help please let me know like with pronunciations or slang. Lots of love🤩
Oh my goodness‼️I love the way you cook 👏🏽👏🏽and I love the way you give alternatives if we don’t have that certain ingredient. Are you a chef by trade? your skills are awesome🥰
So far away and yet so close! In Poland my mum often made a leek pankace (which looks a lot like the first one), or sauerkraut pancake - a distant relative of kimchi! Also the texture of the first pancake is much like the polish potato pancake! We eat them with mushrooms sauce, or goulash, some with sour cream, and some with ketchup. I feel like it's something Koreans would enjoy too!
I use cream of corn and add sugar to the flour mix, by the way, I call them fritters. also, try the flour mix with dry salted Pollack or dry shrimps (soak them in water first to remove the excess of salt). Yummy!
I love Clair's comments and face when she is tasting. She loves the meals you prepare and makes them so appealing that I have tried many of the recipes. Thank you for sharing.
Yesterday I made pancake following your ideas here. You always say use what you have. I had chicken breast so I chopped up really small and added it to vegetables and batter. So good. Made it a main dish. Thank you for your inspiration.
"Maybe, you might think there is not enough batter for this pancake but no, this is right". You are so right. I made a Korean veggy pancake after watching a tv show on Korean foods but before finding your channel. Added way too much batter and it became a heavy oily fried flour mess which needless to say no one liked lunch. Appreciate all your cooking tip and tricks.
I will try it soon! I've been living in Korea for almost 2 years now, and most videos I watch about Korean cooking don't use the actual Korean ingredients because they can't find them. It's so nice to see videos where it has ingredients I can recognize and buy easily. I've recreated a few of the recipes on this channel and they all turned out great. 떡볶이 레시피는 정말 맛있었어요!
Thank you Aaron and Claire. I made prawn and beef pancakes. I was in a rush so I didn't refer to the recipe, just the video. I agree flour needs salt and pepper. Less vinegar in the dipping sauce. But they turned out and I enjoyed them. Thank you for sharing and next time I'll take more time and look for the right amounts on your website.
I was at the Korean supermarket last week and almost bought Korean pancake mix because it was on sale. I wasn’t confident to make vegetable pancakes so didn’t buy it. Now I have all these recipes and can’t wait to try them all. Thanks Aaron and Claire
Hey, Aaron, I make a lot of your recipes and they've really improved my lunches and dinners! I was wondering if you could do some low carbohydrate recipes so I could cook something for my Mother who is on a diet! Thanks!!
I went to the Korean supermarket a few days ago just to get the pancake mix. Thought we had canned corn at home but couldn't find any so used frozen corn. It turned out amazing!!! It's so easy, tasty and healthy. Thank you so much!
I will definitely try your different versions of pancakes. They really look delicious. Watching this video made me hungry . Claire you are a lucky girl. Many blessings to you both. ❤

Everyone in my household ate it . I was a bit greedy, made 12, ate 6, and gave 2 each to my 2 children and my husband. 😋😋😋😋Yum yum. Thank you.
