Simple steps and important points: 1. Filter water ( carbon filter ) 2. Don’t use chemical perfumes 3. Cook at home 4. Eat unprocessed foods 5. Cook on stainless steel or cast iron. But do what you can 6. Use organic aluminum free deodorant; avoid antiperspirant if you can. Do armpit detoxing. 7. Avoid fragrance free Foundation, concealer and lipstick 8. Don’t use heavily scented shampoo 9. Don’t use scented feminine products, use organic cotton tampons 10. Use Organic cotton clothes, don’t use polyester, nylon, acrylic, and spandex. 11. Don’t use dry sheets, use wool drying balls with E.O instead. 12. Don’t use harsh detergents 13. The earlier you start using cosmetic products, the earlier you are in risk on getting breast cancer. 14. African-American girls are in highest risk of getting breast cancer. 15. Use paraffin and dye free candles without chemicals perfumes. Soy blend May be mixed with petroleum. Incense is even worse. Use bees wax, E.O, wooden or cotton wicks. 16. Vaping is inhaling chemical mixture specially the flavors. 17. Air quality indoors can be worst than outdoors because we are not ventilating our homes. 18. Don’t wear outside shoes in your home 19. Dust our house regular 20. Have indoor plants but check for humidity in the plants 21. Keep humidity low, buy a humidity tester to avoid mold growth. 22. Don’t burn wood inside the house if you can, ventilate the house even in cold months. 23. If you are able, get an air purifier but try to remove the sources of pollution as much as you can. 24. Exercise to protect our bodies 25. Sleep well 26. Reduce or eliminate the consumption of alcohol 26. Consume leafy greens, vegetables, whey protein, matcha green tea. 27. Stress less 🤩 28. No cigarettes 🚬 29. Consume organic grown matcha, avoid adding milk 30. Pets increase the pollutants in our homes, just clean well in a regular basis and wipe off their paws 🐾 when coming back from outside. 31. Don’t fear chemicals 🤔they are around all the time, not everything is going to kill us. Just take big steps that are going to create a big impact in our lives in the long term, specially in children under 10 years old. ***more awareness and research is needed in micro plastics***
People will do all this and still get cancers and tumours. Geez might as well just live your life than act like a crazy person and do everything on this list 😂
I would love to see her work with Kennedy to clean this mess up. I bet she could have a job in the health agency cleaning up the mess they made in the name of $$$
You are Amazing! I’ve gone through a functional dr protocol for autoimmune and veered off some half way thru Covid. You’ve reminded me of the ultra important things needed besides diet and supplements. Thank you so much! Future generations should thank you also.
It was great - thanks for your dedication and passion towards a very important area of our lives.... i'm also interested in the de-toxification element... would you be able to point me in the right direction for more information regarding that ? Many thanks,
This was brilliant. As an immunologist, I was heartened to hear this advice on a podcast that has such a large online presence. I hope Yvonne is able to spread her message further into the mainstream so people can start to vote with their money. That’s the only way we will see the changes we need. The cost of organic phthalate-free products is unsustainable for many people. Health poverty is not just poor access to healthcare, it’s also ‘forced’ use of contaminated foods and products because they can’t afford to live and eat those things that are completely natural.
In many cases, following her tips will save money. We don’t have to buy expensive nontoxic chemical free candles, just don’t buy candles at all. Most of us are using them for the scent, not the light. I keep some for emergency use and that’s about it. Also, we’d save money by not buying perfumes and scented lotions.
It's all about the greed & $$$. The ones deciding all these things all have the income where they don't have to eat or purchase or use any of these toxic items & so called foods. It's completely something that can be quickly changed. Go back to glass jars for everything. Get rid of plastic bags, go back to paper then require people to recycle & companies to recycle. Do not allow any other cookware except stainless steel & cast iron or other non toxic cookware. Stop importing anything from China. You would think a government would want everyone as healthy as they can be & work & pay taxes longer. Hmmmmm🤔🤔 There's new hope starting in 2025.
We were taught since forever to be obsessed with materialistic stuff to blind us from the truth about those products. It was tough but it was not hard to quit buying or use any of those stuff. Just like her I reverse my health problems symptoms to being so much healthier feeling on the inside.. To much greed and we give those horrible people to much power and control. The government system is to blame as well. Everything is set up strategically for profit purpose only. Governments want people to be sick so pharmaceutical company can make billions, foods corporations makes billions, make up industry make billions, IVF makes billions ....
This makes me feel like everything around me is completely toxic. The perfumes, candles, lotions, body sprays, bath wash, laundry detergent, even my shampoo bar ! I mean, the majority of our food comes in plastic containers or bottles ! This video makes me feel overwhelmed.
I guess I'll start where I can. Toss the products I am not absolutely in love with and as I need to repurchase the others I do my best to make safer choices for myself and my family.
My basic presumption now is everything I pick up is toxic for unless it can be proved otherwise! Yuka App should be being used by everyone and it is free!
You missed the point love of making small changes to the overall better. Don’t be overwhelmed… you’ve survived thus far and small accumulated changes will see you in much better health as you age.x
From scented candles, air fresheners to perfumes - the root cause is synthetic fragrances, which have not been tested for toxicity, and the rise of petrochemical industry after the World War 2. The rise of children born with compromised immune system to a significant rise in Autism can be linked to the increased and wide spread use of synthetic fragrances (Bagasra & Bagasara, 2019). During the production of these synthetic petrochemical derived fragrance chemicals, discharge to air and water also causes problems to Wild Life - we are seeing feminization of wildlife because estrogen-mimicking effects of many of these chemicals . Many scientists and perfume industry are in Denial of these facts because of their financial interests. Dr Yvonne Burkart , thank you!
I remember the late 1980s, Giorgio perfume just came out in a striped yellow-white package…… - I never wore it, but I would get a wave of nausea immediately and a headache about 10 min later. I encountered it in department stores on women shoppers just wearing it. One time I got stuck on the escalator behind a woman that was wearing this scent. I had to walk down the escalator in the opposite direction away from her. And I tried to avoid the cosmetics section when entering the store, as back then there were sales girls offering to be sprayed-on. It was AWFUL.
I can hardly stand to walk down the cleaning product aisle in stores - the smell is overwhelming! Highly scented laundry soap, scent balls you can add for extra smell, dryer sheets, perfumey detergents, cleaners, air sprays... it it's all too much. 🤢 ☠️
@@Pearlstrand I am 100% with you on that. I feel sick around those things & stopped using them years ago. Artificially fragranced, toxin-laden personal care products & cosmetics as well. Fragrance counters in department stores too *bleh* 🤮 Even worse is smelling people wearing this stuff. I wish there was an emoji for a 👆 down the throat *gag*
I completely changed my diet six months ago based on nationally recommended guidelines, but it only made my health worse. It wasn’t until I read 'The 23 Former Doctor Truths' that I realized doing the opposite of what the government advises can actually make a difference. No wonder the doctor who wrote it left their career-speaking the truth often challenges the system!
Tip to scent your home naturally: Get a small pot and fill with water, a sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, fresh rosemary, cloves, maybe a bit of vanilla. Add cranberries in winter. Simmer on low all day. The BEST!
@@mathapelongwepe2652you certainly don’t have to do it, and you don’t have to do it every day. Just a nontoxic suggestion. It’s a fun treat. Like baking cookies during the holidays. Or charging your device to watch UA-cam videos and comment on them. Yes, they require energy, but it’s ok once in awhile as one is able. Also, I live in the country. I have a wood burning stove.
I work at a WASTE TO ENERGY POWER PLANT. We are pretty much exposed a lot of the times to the smoke and dust/ash that becomes of the trash. We test for heavy metals exposure but should I be aware of carcinogens. Please like this comment so that I can get an answer and hopefully it would help 1000s of people exposed to this. Thank you ❤
@@Herson_ricardo_alarcon there are several different brands of detox kits at the health food store that are great + reliable. Been going to heath food stores for 30 years now. I beat the big C There's detox kits with activated charcoal, some to help get rid of excess metals built up in your organs, I used the ones that help clean out your intestines every year and in the past I bought the ingredients, ground them myself & encapsulated them myself (but getting old changes things) Anytime you work/play/school/extracurricular activity/etc that puts you in danger there are things you can do to counter it. Garlic pills clean your blood, a. c..v, colloidal silver, etc etc tons + tons of different herbal/holistic remedies at the health food store (Natural Grocers, Sprouts, Stay Healthy, etc)

What would you do if you found out that you are breathing toxic chemicals? Would you quit your job? If so, then start looking for or training for another job. Because you know in heart that it's not good to breathe that stuff or you would not be concerned enough to ask about it. Good luck to you, sir. I hope you remain in good health.
I started buying stainless steel pots since 1996 because they are less toxic. I was only 18 years old at the time but was obsessed with reading health magazines and reading holistic medicine materials since the early 90s. The information has been out there but everyone would think it was weird. I'm glad awareness to the masses is finally being made via the internet.
Stainless or Carbon steel pans and pots only each for different purpose ! DITCH any and all "non stick" toxic garbage rubbish ASAP ! Merten and Storck is AMAZING ! Just look at what Michelin star chefs are using .
What apps or websites help us to make the choices you’ve made? So glad you have prioritized true health. How do you decide which products are best? Organic, non gmo, no fragrance, made in USA, few ingredients. Thanks for your help!
I think it's very important to add to this conversation that there is a growing number of people who have an intolerance to nickel, which is in stainless steel. I was born with this intolerance- I develop a terrible rash when exposed externally to it. Cooking/heating with stainless steel *does* leech it into the solid/liquid, and leads to GI damage and upset. I use ceramic for everything as a result. I hope this helps someone!
I feel like you missunderstood though? She never claimed non stick pans are bad for your health lol. The coating can only be bad when it's overheated and breathed in. The chips that flake off over time are not health impacting signifnicantly enough. Now during manufacturing, that I agree it is tocix for workers without appropriate PPE.
Yes, PLEASE give us a list of safe products and products we should avoid as we do not have the knowledge this wonderful little lady has. This would be doing a great help to your growing community. Thank you Steven for all the great guests you have on, I am so happynto have discovered your channel.
There’s an app called Think Dirty, and probably others by now. I’ve not used it in a few years, but you can scan a product you have to learn about the ingredients, receive suggestions, etc.
Pause for a minute. The fact that she studied toxicology doesn't surprise me. What has me in awe is the fact that she is crazily informed, gives pinpoint references to research done to every single argument she makes, defines every biological term she uses, and even delves deeper into the nitty gritty. Hands doctor you know your shit! Mad Respect 🙌👏
I started losing my hair at 39, in massive clumps. Along with having hypothyroidism, low vitamin D levels and anemia, I was very sick and stressed. After decades of trying to balance my thyroid levels, and *failing,* my new doctor told me to *get rid of all the plastic food and water containers and all plastics in my home, all the chemicals in my home, and replace all my old pots and pans with forever chemical free pots and pans.* It took me one year to accomplish this, and after I switched to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, I finally got my thyroid levels under control. No matter what meds I took before this journey, my thyroid levels were out of wack for decades. Switching to a chemical free, sustainable lifestyle was the only thing that saved my health, _and_ it saved me *money* too. I bought a bidet and cotton wash cloths, and had no TP throughout the COVID lockdown, and my daughter and I were great! I started reusing all my glass pickle and honey jars as cups and containers. I threw out all my chemicals household cleaners and replaced them all with 1-2 jars of a mix of filtered water, isopropyl alcohol, and distilled vinegar which cleans all my windows, floors and countertops perfectly. Plus, I have less stress not worrying about my daughter getting this horrible thyroid disease too. 😅 ANYONE CAN DO THIS, it’s not just for rich people. I’m broke and I did it. It may take time, but it’s worth it! 🌎🫶🏼
@t.a.4356 I tried fasting before this issue occurred, and it helped me lose some weight, but my hair loss was a result of severe stress, hypothyroidism, low vitamin D levels and anemia. One of my closest friends died of an overdose, then my mom had a heart attack a few days before thanksgiving. It was a rough time.
I can totally relate to this story! I couldn’t conceived and did multiple rounds of failed IVF. I didn’t get any explanation of why i wouldn’t conceive for 8yrs until i made some changes in the products i use and the food i eat. And boom i became naturally pregnant back to back at 35yrs old. I am here now 40yrs old and 3 babies 5 yrs later!
I'm so grateful for this woman speaking out like this, we need more voices like this, I've struggled to express my concerns and I feel like an outcast so it's nice to have this said on such a big platform :) such a weight lifted
The new president that appointed a woman as surgeon General who is in support of big pharma? Either side of the same political coin gets donations from big corporations that aren't regulated enough.
My comment will be lost amongst the thousand ones here,BUT this is what I do as a woman in her mid 50s who lives in GREECE. I use organic detergents for washing and cleaning my home, along with vinegar. I also buy organic cosmetics and apply very little WITHOUT any foundation. As for perfumes I use none or organic and for deodorant, crystal ones. Finally, if I want my home to smell good I use essential oiles, in the bucket or a diffuser. For food storage I use glass containers. Hope this helps whomever reads this comment. Stay aware, stay healthy! God bless you all. 💌☦
Those crystal deodorant are sooo good, I also used them for scars and keeping clean. It reduces pimples and other bacteria in pores. I used to have reactions to antiperspirants. I thought I was just broken or sick. It all got soo much better when I switched. I do sweat, as I should, as a human. But I don't smell and most importantly, my skin doesn't get rashes or flare ups
@@Kaybye555They don't work on me. I swear by salt solution based ones that lt spray on. Unscented, all natural. AND it stops sweat too! I'm menopausal so I can vouch that it works!! It's called Salt of the Earth ☺️
I switched to glass and stainless steel as well, *especially* for food containers that I take to work and heat up for lunch... it's insane how much chemicals can leech into your food from plastic when heated. We need to go back to safe and reusable products for foods, like my grandparents did!
This doctor. This woman. Is an absolute warrior. Fighting the fight. That many people are ignorant of. Or too scared to acknowledge. A fight that affects us all. A fight affecting our health and future. And the fact that it's so personal. Not only for her but she does it for those who don't know is admirable.
After watching with my wife ... we started to throw out all that plastic from the kitchen, got a new frying pan and bolws. Crazy how much we had for every day use. Just saying ... you do have an impact. We got that learning curve. In short ... Thank you ... all the way from Germany 😅
This is the most important interview you've ever done, I've been banging my head on a brick wall preaching exactly what this brilliant woman is saying my whole life, now working in a consumer research job -hearing of & watching loved ones drop dead from toxic burden; Ignorance is not bliss!!
@@Gorbash9 just copying my info for you 'Yes, i'm surprised most people donno this... when you wish lovely smells, scents : etheric oils, pure natural oils, yes it's not cheap, your health is worth is tho. It's very important, for deodorants etc, to LOOK at the ingredients : study them, look them up, choose naturel organice products & oils, it makes a wold of difference, greetings from Belgium'
The problem is she sounds the same as the crazy people that only use glass and nothing else. She is right but it is sometimes hard to discern the voices that are right by evidence and right by OCD or some other underlying condition of paranoia surrounding plastic. Is it safe storing food in plastic containers that you don't heat up and are of the certain types that are shown to not leech into food? Probably. Some people just go wild and it is really hard to believe some people.
@@Gorbash9 if you need fragrance then you aren't cleaning but masking. You need to know there is no smell or a natural smell to know if something is actually clean. If it is holding odor it is holding bacteria. Change the surface and don't use that material in general. You just need to spend more time on coordination so they can use glass wear and stainless steel and stuff like that. Also storing in some plastics when they are never heated tends to be fine. You have to think relatively. You get more danger from car fumes taking the kids to school. Just don't compound that by heating plastic or using non stick coatings and deodorant is actually not necessary if you bathe unless you have some underlying medical issue. Maybe I am just lucky in that department. It will be okay. The stress of worrying about these things is also a killer. Just do the best you can. You got this.
When I worked as an EHS at a university I did my best to educate the faculty on how to find the information needed to evaluate things like this. But it's hours of research for each product. Going through multiple websites to piece things together. I created a tutorial but it got ignored.
Thanks Steven (& team) and Dr Yvonne Burkart for this one. Definitely one of the best and most informative podcasts i've seen. This should be shared far and wide and shown at schools!
I married my husband who had a son who had terrible debilitating migraines several days a week . I stopped fast food and chips and sodas and within 2 years his migraines stopped! I cook our dinner everyday and yes it’s time consuming and not always fun but the results are amazing
@michellelauer4212 Absolutely food is the key God has given us the tools we need inside our bodies to remove toxins kidneys liver spleen are the best toxins removers..having said that how we treat our bodies can optimize their functions! So to be so paranoid about everything is not the key but taking care of your existing toxin removal system given by the creator is ideal!
I have to beg my kids teachers not to use plug-ins when they’re sitting there for seven hours a day breathing that crap in poisoning all those little kids. The sad thing is mostly they’re just thinking they’re trying to make a nicer environment. They have no idea.
@@AM-nd9nl I used to work in a care home for the elderly and there were plug ins and automatic spray pumps that would just send puffs of scent into the air 24/7 I complained that it was toxic, carers would be coughing and choking all day long, they refused to remove them so I left that job I just knew it wasn’t right. 😢
TIP to make stainless steel nonstick: heat up the pan first (check: “waterdrop test”) then add your cooking oil, then add the food. In that order. Makes a world of difference! Learned this on UA-cam as well. It actually works.
That temperature (which would make the waterdrop roll around like a ball) is enough to bring the oil to smoke point and change the structure of the oil and makes it nearly the same as repeatedly heated oil - in short: carcinogen and mutagenic, and tumorigenic. Be very careful with that as it's just seconds away from useable to toxic. What I'd recommend more is medium/low heat for a long time (or turn off heat occasionally and wait a few mins to make the food non-stick before you flip it over)
This has been one of the most helpful videos I've seen in a long time. Love this Toxicologist she really knows her stuff. #1 Filter your water #2 Get rid of Fragrance products #3 Cook at home
I discovered a highly educational UA-cam channel from an Australian company that elucidates how various products are absorbed by our bodies and their effects through biochemical processes. The channel can be found at www.youtube.com/@bellebotaniqueptyltd4680.
This is my new favorite show to watch. I absolutely love the discussions being had, everyone needs to watch these shows. Love you brother, please don't ever stop. It's people like you and the professionals brought on the show that bit by bit are slowly restoring my faith in humanity ❤
As a father of 3 girls this video makes me want to purge everything in the bathroom and kitchen. Thank you for having her on. Hopefully as a consumer base we can get some of this stuff out of our products
🎉Good News, just by being a masculine man in the home caring for them you delay the effects of the endocrine disruption from the environment by YEARS… Love the doctor but MANY of the effects she described are seen in almost plastic free populations around the world (particularly females in a family unit without an adult male). 🫡 So no freaking out and throwing away their stuff and freaking them out, small deliberate steps 30:38
German here. It's always been so startling to me that Americans are obsessed with sanitising products (not that we don't use them here, but we don't clean with chlorine or use those tampons with plastic applicators instead of the good old finger lol) but then at home walk around with what we would call "street" shoes instead of "house" shoes (slippers) and don't open their windows regularly. Most rental contracts even specify that the apartment must be ventilated 1-2 times a day. It's called "Stoßlüften" (loosely translated shock- or intermittent ventilation). You just open all windows for 5-10 minutes to create a nice air draft. The base room temperature doesn't drop much but you get fresh oxygen and less mold :)
Now that you listed your criticisms of Americans, can you now follow it with 3 or 4 GOOD about Americans, please? I think it's the polite thing to do. Thanks
Most ppl don't understand that only 5 minutes with all the windows open don't affect the temperature... What's even worse is at work where you can't do that because of colleagues... And the air is just so bad that you get tired much more easily than working at home where you can open a window when you feel tired
I don't think it is that they wouldn't be open to that if they knew better. Your culture has these things ever present, and it becomes common knowledge. Here in the US, many people were raised that you don't waste electricity by doing -insert action here- and grew up without it being part of the culture. So many people want the temperature of their house controlled to the degree, and many somehow think that their indoor air is better. I personally love to open the windows and also take off my outdoor shoes at the door. I have house shoes at home or go barefoot/sock footed at someone else's house. At least as far as the shoes go, I have seen a cultural shift toward more people taking shoes off. Sadly, I have not seen much in the way of people learning that fresh air is good for them.
I. Feel. Her. I’m a physician giving a lecture on processed food. The more I prepared for my lecture the angrier it made me. I am furious at how little choice the consumer really has and the lack of transparency in the food industry. Late stage capitalism is out of control. At least give the public informed consent!!!
you wanna turn your anger on the medical profession, which NEVER considers that food is medicine, and fake food is toxic. how much nutrition training do doctors do? (many of us here know the answer and it's a disgrace). All those doctors who got bought off and told people margarine was healthier than butter, shame on the AMA! Capitalism can be checked with people have integrity.
I was already careful but this podcast really opened my eyes! I’ll definitely go home tonight and make a lot of changes in my products. I’m glad I learned this in my early twenties and before I’ll have kids🙏🏻
I'm eliminating all fragrance and perfume products from my life. It's not easy, but the wellness of my family and my health is non-negotiable. What a wake-up call! Thank you for bringing this awareness to my attention.
It’s actually easier than you think! A former “perfumeoholic”and I quit cold turkey! I don’t miss it! And nobody else does either… not one person has ever said to me, “How come you’re not fragrant anymore!”😂 As long as you don’t smell bad, that’s all that matters!
You don’t have to eliminate fragrance if you can afford natural perfume made of organic essential oils. Same with candles. Or simply buy reusable spray bottles, organic essential oils (lavender etc), dilute them in water and use as perfume. Hope this helps!
@@samanthasaunders429 I grow my own lavender, lemon grass & Rosemary since it's hardy and already very fragrant. Also having them reduces mosquitoes. It's sooo easy to crush the leaves and boil it and you end up with several weeks to months worth in one batch for various uses. Just collecting a few of the branches and putting them in the room makes it naturally fragrant.
You'll get used to it quickly once you know what to buy. Soon you will feel overwhelmed by fragrance and dislike it. I banned fragrance during the pandemic, today I only use perfume, but I only put it on my clothes. Never on my skin.
Her reaction demonstrates how important this topic is AND how much she cares about turning this tide. God bless those on this front line like Dr. Burkart!
Except for example, she is wrong on benzene and scary research at 38:00 There's a lab, Valisure, that overheats products to 50 or 60 degrees Celsius for a long time and finds benzene in them (no shit that when you burn stuff, it creates more harmful substances), that also patented a "better way" to combat it, and tried to get money from big corporations (look up Wall Street Journal article "A Legal Shakedown Exposed/ How Valisure tried to cash in on its dubious claims about cancer"). So it's a usual scam of making you believe that bad thing is threatening you nd then profiting from it.
I am going to spread this to all of my clients. They listen to me because I read studies like a madwoman, but to hear a toxicologist finally SAY all of this is so important.
I didn't know of such a time, but when my parents were young street vendors used to wrap food in leaves (Taiwan around the 50's maybe) I didn't know that until I read something from the web. Those were the times when it was more environmentally friendly.
Agree... but one cost, two, well, youths,m not all youths, just some, times they would break glass and when got a dog like we had back in 1990's well... yeah, not nice for the paws... so, but i take your point..
Same age as you, have always refused to use plastic cups as it makes everything that comes out of them feel slimy somehow. Even my thermos cups that were plastic lined were a hard no for me.
It's been 7 years suffering from severe environmental sensitivity. Basically it's most everything manufactured you touch and breathe in every space. I stopped touching and being around people including my family, became a recluse and suddenly lived like a minimalist, off-grid Nomad. I've learned to accept the blessings that came from this experience having more connection with Mother Earth. It's extreme for me. I feel for this woman. I am glad she can be in the public to help raise attention for our future, the children. Thanks for bringing some of this topic up for your viewers. Awesome
We are always fearful for the lives of truth tellers. The people in power know that the majority of us are cowards and wont follow her advice so they are not worried what so ever.
Truth tellers are always thought to be in danger. That’s not true. The people in charge know that we are cowards, and most of us will not take her advice anyway.
The concept of health in The 23 Former Doctor Truths completely explains this, and it’s honestly changed the way I think about my well-being. I wish I had read it sooner because it offers insights that could have saved me years of misunderstanding health. This book doesn’t just inform-it empowers you to take meaningful, lasting control over your health journey.

I grew up on a farm and was NEVER sick. We did not add scent or chemicals to food. Mom cooked from scratch and we never had weight problems. I believe Yvonne is spot-on. Thank you!!!!!❤❤❤
I'm in Ireland and we have a farm shop about 6 miles away but I wouldn't buy from them as the pesticides and fertilisers they use is scandalous! A neighbour rented out his land to them and when he saw the amount of stuff they put on the veg he was horrified! Said he'd never eat that veg again. Their carrots turn black with about 2 days, spuds turn black after cooking. I did a garden this year (not as successful as I wanted due to major back problems but I hope to have a really decent one next year. I also buy organic where I can but there's not a heck of a lot of options where I am unfortunately
A good friend, who grew up on a farm, said her parents were excited when a 'special' chemical became available. Her dad sprayed everything including his children. It was DDT. Cancer was high in her family; she died from it.

As a black woman this was deeply appreciated. I was absolutely mindblown by this interview and disgusted by the environmental racism (which i didn't even know was a thing!) I grew up with those toxic hair products and still use them today. Thankfully no breast cancer but I won't be using them again. I'll be seeking more clean black own products. I took notes throughout this whole interview. This was life-changing information and its a TRAGEDY no one knows about this, this isn't taught in schools, and not common knowledge. When you’re ready the teacher will come. I’ve always been suspicious of the product that are made specifically for black peoples. Over the years I use the product to strengthen my hair which resulted in my hair falling out and not growing back I always suspected the chemicals I used to strengthen my hair. After this disastrous outcome I have stopped using nail polishes, all soaps that have perfume and SLS, all deodorants, virtually all makeup (lipstick only occasionally) lotions and body butters. I use essential oils for fragrance, almond oil, castor oil, coconut oil for skincare. I use baking soda for deodorant.

I’ve been on this journey of becoming the best version of myself since I had my daughter 3 yrs ago and Yvonne Burkart’s reason for why she’s doing what she’s doing brought me to tears. I understand her passion and it resonates with me. Being a parent is life changing and we don’t get it until we have children ourselves. I loved this episode Steven. You make a difference in the world simply by having this podcast and having the type of guest that you have on the show.
I always wonder how one can listen to an entire episode of 2,5 hours when it aired 33 min ago here in EU? Are various time zones on a different schedule?

I had my first son back in 2021 and was made to feel like I was being irrational by wanting to only use cast iron and glass cookware, fragrance-free everything, avoiding overly processed foods and artificial flavors and colors. I literally just wanted him to have as healthy of a start as possible, something that my parents didn't care much to provide me.
Amen!! People are so blissfully ignorant and it’s definitely easier to point the finger rather than just do their own research. They just don’t want to know
Yes, we "lüften" every day! After sleeping, after cooking or showering. The rooms are always aired. In winter or summer, always. Mainly in winter, because heating with radiators dries out the air, and heating the air only works if it contains enough oxygen. After 2-3 hours in the living room, the oxygen content in the air is used up. Some people sleep with the windows open, especially in winter. The quality of sleep is much better. I air the room before going to bed, then it is more comfortable for the night. Thank you and greetings from germany 💜
This is even more important since covid as well, Covid harms are immune systems and our bodies and so many different ways having fresh air is great for our bodies, If they're fragile even more so. But also to prevent breathing in covid particles as it's airborne and having fresh ventilated air
As someone that has been intentionally working to achieve a cleaner diet and lifestyle for some years now, I was completely mind blown. Truly goes to prove, you don’t know what you don’t know. I’m so truly grateful for this conversation!
Over 40 years ago, when I was a child, an old man told me never to drink out of plastic bottles because tiny particles from the plastic would pass into my body. I never forgot his advice and did indeed avoid using plastic bottles from that day on. I don't know how he knew this such a long time ago but evidently his advice was correct.
@princessbabibear4794 I use aluminium cannisters. Some of them use plastic stoppers but you can find them with cork or aluminium stoppers. Then I just fill them up from filtered water at home and take them wherever I go.
I look forward to a time that organic, natural safe products are the affordable and common items bought and used and the toxic, chemical, not natural items are too expensive for the average person to buy. We need to flip the world upside down or actually the right way up. Many thanks to this incredibly informative episode. She is doing us all a favour.
or, rather, toxic items are not allowed to be produced and sold to people. Governments should step in and act on the behalf of people, not interests of the companies that are killing us and destroying ecosystems around the globe.
The US Dollar has lost 45% of its value since the Twin Towers fell. Consumers keep demanding products being made to a lower quality to keep them blind to it. I have been speaking on it for over 20yrs, and no one will have the discussion
I'm glad that this topic is being covered. I am a mother of a 2 month old and it's so important for parents to understand how much of our decisions affect their health and wellbeing. Thank you for your work on this!
It doesn’t really matter at this point. The ENTIRE planet is ruined and polluted. It is at a level that none of us can avoid it. If you eat and drink water…. You are slowly being poisoned. I chose not to have children because we no longer have a habitual planet. We now live on a semi habitable trash dump and humans are fighting more and more every year over whatever polluted scraps are left. I feel so bad for all you folks who decided to have children. You will love them and then watch them get cancer or other diseases and die.
Powerful video! I had not menstrated in 6+months and was very concerned what could be causing this. I followed the advice and changed out products in my home and 3 weeks later I have had a healthy menstruation. I can't believe it... this was the only thing I changed so it def worked. Everyone should do this! And companies should be made accountable for creating toxic products that have such a negative health impact. Thank you for this video... literally changed my life. ❤
It wasn't until I watched this video that I actually became conscious of what I want to consume/use, despite having many conversations with friends/family about carcinogen products. Thank you so so much for the eye-opening conversation. I was completely hooked for the whole 2 hours. My wish is for everyone to watch/listen to this.
@SarahMcCartney4160 how is what was said is not true? She's not the only person who has discovered these enviro and health issues with the products we use.
Gosh! I love she never doges any questions. She’s never worried about being politically correct or trying not to offend any businesses. She’s only here to talk about facts! Her answer is always “YES!” OR “NO”. Never “maybe”!
I thought she was a great speaker! However, **giving straightforward answers to complicated problems is just as dishonest** as giving complicated answers to simple problems. (not that she did that, obviously)
Idk.... "maybe" is BS but a harsch yes or no seems not very scientific but emotionally answered to me. Scientist offten give differenciated answers. For a reason! But people want it simple... that's not how adult life works. Having said that, I don't wanna say she is a bad scientist!!!! But I think she is super emotional. That has its good and bad sides.
I lost my older sister to breast cancer 20 years ago. This one event sent me down a rabbit hole to eliminate chemicals and toxins from products I was using and prevent lifestyle diseases. Thank you for the video.
It's despicable how they made the pink ribbon breast cancer movement about pink merchandise and donations, claiming for decades that they're still doing research while women continue to die and no mention of changing the lifestyle to a more natural, organic one as the biggest contributor. Cured patient is a lost customer as the saying goes, and there wouldn't be an endless stream of donations either.
As someone who went through breast cancer at the age of 28, it's so good to see this video. I started learning about all this ten years ago during my recovery, but people either weren’t interested or treated me with derision. So glad the message is being spread
They want you to think it's genetics, but it's a lifestyle of the things mentioned in this video and more, but to sum it up it's basically a lifestyle of product in the home full of chemicals, cheap goods, fast food, perfumes, candles and similar.

As someone with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, I really appreciate this conversation. The level of fragrance that is in EVERYTHING makes it so hard to be in spaces that don't make me sick. Folks with MCS are like canaries in the coal mine that our environment is becoming very toxic. I'd like to also add that some essential oils can be problematic for people too, plant derived doesn't mean that it's always going to be non-toxic.
I just left a comment and wrote nearly the same thing. It is so difficult indeed. I once checked out of a hotel at 3 am and slept in my car because they had used so much bleach cleaning the room and the same scent was all over the sheets. Ubers when they have air fresheners. In a plane next to someone that washes their clothes in Tide etc. The worst.
I had MCS too. I use organic essential oils though and they don't bother me. I also use natural perfume. My favorite body care products were Aubrey's Organics and they went out of business a few years ago and there is no other company that I can find that is selling all natural shampoo/conditioner. So sad. It is really hard to find chemical free products.

This is great. I want to add an important Public Service Announcement about getting rid of nonstick cookware: Cooking on stainless steel is a little bit different -- but if you do it correctly, things will slide off and the pan is as easy to clean as nonstick. Most professional chefs use stainless. But if you try to use it like the habits of nonstick, it won't work at all. There are numerous sites and youtubes with instructions, but it boils down to preheating the stainless (WITHOUT any oil in it) to high enough temperature that when you splatter a bit of water, it dances around the pan in beads of water (instead of just staying put and evaporating). Then you add oil and cook the thing. It takes practice, but I've eventually been able to even do eggs like this and they slide right out of the pan. If you can afford it, the ceramic coated cast iron --- very expensive cookware -- is the easiest and is safe. (I don't know yet what to do about the spatulas. I'll have to try stainless spatulas -- and I don't own any yet)
One of my favorites tools in the kitchen is a flat stainless steel spatula. I use cast iron (switched after reading a book about Florine when studying elements with the kids about 8 years ago). I sold out all our Calphalon at a garage sale. Cast iron is similar to using stainless, don’t add food until the pan is hot. I’ll put a chicken breast in the pan and then cut it up with the steel spatula. Steel tongs, stainless steel spatula and a good knife-they get washed and put away right away every time as they get used the most.
I never take the time to comment on videos but felt this was worthwhile to say: This has been the second most impactful video I have ever seen in my life (first was about how whole food plant-based foods can cure/ prevent most things). This should be publicized everywhere.
My dog had itching issues. She was on steroids, medicated shampoo etc. I took the scented diffusers out of the house, only wash her blankets in hot water ( no detergent) and she’s much much better.

I am SO glad we are talking about these a lot more now, people always think I'm particular about things. Customers needs to be aware and educated and demand healthier products to drive toxic products out of the market and only then we can shop worry free
I agree, too many people casually say "everything is a chemical" as if dosage and type doesn't matter and also "we all die from something" but it's not the same to die of natural causes without excruciating pain and to die from cancer or similar illness with excruciating pain...
This episode was absolutely incredible! I’m a huge fan of Dr. Yvonne and have implemented many of her recommendations this year. Such a smart and caring young lady. Thank you for bringing her to us. I wish they would force everyone to watch this! I love my perfumes...but I use mostly essential oils from organic sources. I still use talc powder after my weekly shower. I'd love to hear it was OK! I cannot use cornstarch, yuck! And I am very sensitive to carbs and esp. corn, so I don't think I'm going to use it. I'm old, and I am going to use the things that bring me extreme joy. I've changed so much in my diet d/t chronic GI issues and liver disease. I was able to reverse all of these issues in less than 6 months by avoiding highly processed foods, only use tallow, lard, butter/ghee, and eat mostly meats, eggs, and low carb vegies...no nightshades. I love scented sprays and candles, etc...but quit using them when I found out they were bad for my pets and us too. The only one I still use is an organic orange oil spray that I love and my husband doesn't. lol TY so much for all the information. Shared on my FB page.
FINALLY a podcast about this! Long overdue. Retired medical professional here. I have known about these issues for some time. The doctor is spot on. I wish that she had talked more about air purifiers. There are some that emit O3 aka ozone, a pollutant that can kill you. Yes they clean the air by a process where the ozone pulls matter from the air and just moves it to the walls and floor of your home. If you have one, YOU CANT ENTER THE ROOM IT WAS IN FOR 2 HOURS AFTER USE.

Simple steps and important points:
1. Filter water ( carbon filter )
2. Don’t use chemical perfumes
3. Cook at home
4. Eat unprocessed foods
5. Cook on stainless steel or cast iron. But do what you can
6. Use organic aluminum free deodorant; avoid antiperspirant if you can. Do armpit detoxing.
7. Avoid fragrance free Foundation, concealer and lipstick
8. Don’t use heavily scented shampoo
9. Don’t use scented feminine products, use organic cotton tampons
10. Use Organic cotton clothes, don’t use polyester, nylon, acrylic, and spandex.
11. Don’t use dry sheets, use wool drying balls with E.O instead.
12. Don’t use harsh detergents
18. Don’t wear outside shoes in your home
19. Dust our house regular
20. Have indoor plants but check for humidity in the plants
21. Keep humidity low, buy a humidity tester to avoid mold growth.
22. Don’t burn wood inside the house if you can, ventilate the house even in cold months.
23. If you are able, get an air purifier but try to remove the sources of pollution as much as you can.
24. Exercise to protect our bodies
25. Sleep well
26. Reduce or eliminate the consumption of alcohol
26. Consume leafy greens, vegetables, whey protein, matcha green tea.
27. Stress less 🤩
28. No cigarettes 🚬
29. Consume organic grown matcha, avoid adding milk

Also, you may not be able to afford all organic foods, but you can choose not to buy Cheetos or other highly processed garbage.

This makes me feel like everything around me is completely toxic. The perfumes, candles, lotions, body sprays, bath wash, laundry detergent, even my shampoo bar ! I mean, the majority of our food comes in plastic containers or bottles ! This video makes me feel overwhelmed.
It can be but we have take small steps at a time
I guess I'll start where I can. Toss the products I am not absolutely in love with and as I need to repurchase the others I do my best to make safer choices for myself and my family.
My basic presumption now is everything I pick up is toxic for unless it can be proved otherwise! Yuka App should be being used by everyone and it is free!
Just do what you can and add a little more as you go! Really once you get started it gets easier as you go ❤

I wonder if they cause the feminization of human wildlife
I can hardly stand to walk down the cleaning product aisle in stores - the smell is overwhelming! Highly scented laundry soap, scent balls you can add for extra smell, dryer sheets, perfumey detergents, cleaners, air sprays... it it's all too much. 🤢 ☠️

Thank you
Did you ever fast?
@t.a.4356 I tried fasting before this issue occurred, and it helped me lose some weight, but my hair loss was a result of severe stress, hypothyroidism, low vitamin D levels and anemia.

I switched to glass and stainless steel as well, *especially* for food containers that I take to work and heat up for lunch... it's insane how much chemicals can leech into your food from plastic when heated. We need to go back to safe and reusable products for foods, like my grandparents did!
Just so you know those crystal deodorant is literal the aluminium salt in pure form. Just be careful, read the ingredients.
This doctor. This woman. Is an absolute warrior. Fighting the fight. That many people are ignorant of. Or too scared to acknowledge. A fight that affects us all.

TIP to make stainless steel nonstick: heat up the pan first (check: “waterdrop test”) then add your cooking oil, then add the food. In that order. Makes a world of difference! Learned this on UA-cam as well. It actually works.
Yep, I've been doing this for the last 4 years since I realised I am allergic to Teflon. Stainless steel is fantastic stuff.
What I'd recommend more is medium/low heat for a long time (or turn off heat occasionally and wait a few mins to make the food non-stick before you flip it over)
Don’t use seed oil, which is toxic in itself. Ghee, butter, lard, and tallow would be much healthier.
Cook only with butter, all oils are toxic. Eat only raw extra virgin olive oil, never cook it.

@@Leivarx7are you kidding?
I have done this my entire life in the States. Ive always done it because I have felt the air gets stale and gross so I like fresh air.

Informed consent is not even possible because the foods are designed to be addictive, so we are compromised by our addiction already.

Try eliminating sugar first, it works faster.
Her reaction demonstrates how important this topic is AND how much she cares about turning this tide. God bless those on this front line like Dr. Burkart!
Except for example, she is wrong on benzene and scary research at 38:00
There's a lab, Valisure, that overheats products to 50 or 60 degrees Celsius for a long time and finds benzene in them (no shit that when you burn stuff, it creates more harmful substances), that also patented a "better way" to combat it, and tried to get money from big corporations (look up Wall Street Journal article "A Legal Shakedown Exposed/ How Valisure tried to cash in on its dubious claims about cancer"). So it's a usual scam of making you believe that bad thing is threatening you nd then profiting from it.

Yeah, I miss recyclable glass bottles.
But now even the paper is coated in chemicals to repel oil. It would have to be naturally waxed paper.
Dr Yvonne Burkart and Steven, hormone disruption to autism spectrum disorder are also linked synthetic fragrances.
Agree, High exposure to synthetic fragrances is corelated to increased Autism (Bagasra & Bagasra, 2019).
Why do people pay for these perfumes saturated with petrochemicals?
Synthetic fragrances contain chemicals that can disrupt hormonal functions (Ashcroft et al., 2024).
Fragrance and perfume industry has misused consumer trust.
Rise of synthetic fragrances after WW2 has a lot to do with this.

Great interview, and I am very happy to have found your channel!
They just don’t want to know
This! I am the same way. Nope we are not irrational. Just do what is best for you!

Me too, and my in laws would make fun of us. Well they're all sick with cancer, thyroid issues, diabetes, mystery illnesses...
Never. Back. Down.
Why is it germans always think they are the smartest and best nation.
As someone who moved to Europe recently, I know exactly what you mean. I love the radiators better than the forced air, but they do "dry" the air.
Thanks!
What do you use instead? How do you get your water?

This podcast blows my mind away. I always walk away knowing a bit more than when I started.
Unfortunately almost none of it is true. She got her name right.
@@SarahMcCartney4160 What makes you believe that?
@@SarahMcCartney4160
Favorite guest! Such a dedicated human being!
What was the reason for your BC? did you have genetics done ?
They want you to think it's genetics, but it's a lifestyle of the things mentioned in this video and more, but to sum it up it's basically a lifestyle of product in the home full of chemicals, cheap goods, fast food, perfumes, candles and similar.
@@AA-iy4gmand in some people there are genetic issues. I 100% believe many are metabolic in nature as cancer loves sugar. Stay slim and metabolically flexible.

Great information. Thanks so much. I’m 67 years old and growing up we were so much healthier. My mom was German and our house was spotless and she opened up all windows on a regular basis even in the dead of winter. I followed her example.
Phew! Glad I'm not the only one who opens windows in the cold!
My 92 year old mum does the same , windows and doors opened every day to air the house.
I can't open my windows due to all the fabric softener fumes emitting from the other apartments.
Excellent podcast. I've done lot of this already especially with personal products, hair, skin, detergents, but the home needs work. Inspired by your talk!
@@mountainstream8351Everist is a waterless concentrated shampoo and conditioner and is all natural. Piperwai is a great deodorant brand. Lots of clean and organic skincare brands. Applauding. We need to talk about this and influence the industry as consumers.
Billion dollar lobby with the chemical industry which works hand in hand with pharma and even the building industry (very toxic). People have been trying to change this for decades. It is going to take a MASS movement.

I have a stainless spatula and it's excellent.
Wooden spatulas
Thank you for this information 🙏💪🤩

Wow, thank you for having her on your show! I hadn't heard her before..but suspected toxic chemicals are everywhere. Geez..I did switch to glass or metal bottles. I did quit using bath and bodywork years ago.
The movie Dark Waters exposed the part DuPont played in contributing toxic chemicals. There are so many more corporations. It’s sad. 😢
And think how long it took to expose them...and ultimately nothing has changed.
I immediately thought of this too! Excellent, eye opening movie everyone needs to see.
That is an amazing movie, sad and depressing but also a real eyeopener!
If you have one, YOU CANT ENTER THE ROOM IT WAS IN FOR 2 HOURS AFTER USE.
dear God that's the first time I hear about that, how can we find out? I was looking at getting an air doctor or jaspr and an plasma air purifier from creatrix solutions
