    20. Have indoor plants but check for humidity in the plants
    21. Keep humidity low, buy a humidity tester to avoid mold growth.
    22. Don’t burn wood inside the house if you can, ventilate the house even in cold months.
    23. If you are able, get an air purifier but try to remove the sources of pollution as much as you can.
    24. Exercise to protect our bodies
    25. Sleep well
    26. Reduce or eliminate the consumption of alcohol
    26. Consume leafy greens, vegetables, whey protein, matcha green tea.
    27. Stress less 🤩
    28. No cigarettes 🚬

    30. Pets increase the pollutants in our homes, just clean well in a regular basis and wipe off their paws 🐾 when coming back from outside.
    31. Don’t fear chemicals 🤔they are around all the time, not everything is going to kill us. Just take big steps that are going to create a big impact in our lives in the long term, specially in children under 10 years old.
***more awareness and research is needed in micro plastics***

This was brilliant. As an immunologist, I was heartened to hear this advice on a podcast that has such a large online presence. I hope Yvonne is able to spread her message further into the mainstream so people can start to vote with their money. That’s the only way we will see the changes we need. The cost of organic phthalate-free products is unsustainable for many people. Health poverty is not just poor access to healthcare, it’s also ‘forced’ use of contaminated foods and products because they can’t afford to live and eat those things that are completely natural.

    • @yahyeet4383

In many cases, following her tips will save money. We don’t have to buy expensive nontoxic chemical free candles, just don’t buy candles at all. Most of us are using them for the scent, not the light. I keep some for emergency use and that’s about it. Also, we’d save money by not buying perfumes and scented lotions.

It's all about the greed & $$$. The ones deciding all these things all have the income where they don't have to eat or purchase or use any of these toxic items & so called foods. It's completely something that can be quickly changed. Go back to glass jars for everything. Get rid of plastic bags, go back to paper then require people to recycle & companies to recycle. Do not allow any other cookware except stainless steel & cast iron or other non toxic cookware. Stop importing anything from China. You would think a government would want everyone as healthy as they can be & work & pay taxes longer. Hmmmmm🤔🤔
There's new hope starting in 2025.

From scented candles, air fresheners to perfumes - the root cause is synthetic fragrances, which have not been tested for toxicity, and the rise of petrochemical industry after the World War 2. The rise of children born with compromised immune system to a significant rise in Autism can be linked to the increased and wide spread use of synthetic fragrances (Bagasra & Bagasara, 2019).
During the production of these synthetic petrochemical derived fragrance chemicals, discharge to air and water also causes problems to Wild Life - we are seeing feminization of wildlife because estrogen-mimicking effects of many of these chemicals . Many scientists and perfume industry are in Denial of these facts because of their financial interests. Dr Yvonne Burkart , thank you!

I remember the late 1980s, Giorgio perfume just came out in a striped yellow-white package…… - I never wore it, but I would get a wave of nausea immediately and a headache about 10 min later. I encountered it in department stores on women shoppers just wearing it. One time I got stuck on the escalator behind a woman that was wearing this scent. I had to walk down the escalator in the opposite direction away from her. And I tried to avoid the cosmetics section when entering the store, as back then there were sales girls offering to be sprayed-on. It was AWFUL.

I was born with this intolerance- I develop a terrible rash when exposed externally to it. I started losing my hair at 39, in massive clumps. Along with having hypothyroidism, low vitamin D levels and anemia, I was very sick and stressed. After decades of trying to balance my thyroid levels, and *failing,* my new doctor told me to *get rid of all the plastic food and water containers and all plastics in my home, all the chemicals in my home, and replace all my old pots and pans with forever chemical free pots and pans.* It took me one year to accomplish this, and after I switched to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, I finally got my thyroid levels under control. No matter what meds I took before this journey, my thyroid levels were out of wack for decades. Switching to a chemical free, sustainable lifestyle was the only thing that saved my health, _and_ it saved me *money* too. I bought a bidet and cotton wash cloths, and had no TP throughout the COVID lockdown, and my daughter and I were great! I started reusing all my glass pickle and honey jars as cups and containers. I threw out all my chemicals household cleaners and replaced them all with 1-2 jars of a mix of filtered water, isopropyl alcohol, and distilled vinegar which cleans all my windows, floors and countertops perfectly. Plus, I have less stress not worrying about my daughter getting this horrible thyroid disease too. 😅 ANYONE CAN DO THIS, it’s not just for rich people. I’m broke and I did it. It may take time, but it’s worth it! 🌎🫶🏼

My comment will be lost amongst the thousand ones here,BUT this is what I do as a woman in her mid 50s who lives in GREECE. I use organic detergents for washing and cleaning my home, along with vinegar. I also buy organic cosmetics and apply very little WITHOUT any foundation. As for perfumes I use none or organic and for deodorant, crystal ones. Finally, if I want my home to smell good I use essential oiles, in the bucket or a diffuser. For food storage I use glass containers. Hope this helps whomever reads this comment. Stay aware, stay healthy! God bless you all. 💌☦

The problem is she sounds the same as the crazy people that only use glass and nothing else. She is right but it is sometimes hard to discern the voices that are right by evidence and right by OCD or some other underlying condition of paranoia surrounding plastic. Is it safe storing food in plastic containers that you don't heat up and are of the certain types that are shown to not leech into food? Probably. Some people just go wild and it is really hard to believe some people.

    • @Nutbutdontella
      @Nutbutdontella Місяць тому +19

@@Gorbash9 if you need fragrance then you aren't cleaning but masking. You need to know there is no smell or a natural smell to know if something is actually clean. If it is holding odor it is holding bacteria. Change the surface and don't use that material in general. You just need to spend more time on coordination so they can use glass wear and stainless steel and stuff like that. Also storing in some plastics when they are never heated tends to be fine. You have to think relatively. You get more danger from car fumes taking the kids to school. Just don't compound that by heating plastic or using non stick coatings and deodorant is actually not necessary if you bathe unless you have some underlying medical issue. Maybe I am just lucky in that department. It will be okay. The stress of worrying about these things is also a killer. Just do the best you can. You got this.

That temperature (which would make the waterdrop roll around like a ball) is enough to bring the oil to smoke point and change the structure of the oil and makes it nearly the same as repeatedly heated oil - in short: carcinogen and mutagenic, and tumorigenic. Be very careful with that as it's just seconds away from useable to toxic. German here. It's always been so startling to me that Americans are obsessed with sanitising products (not that we don't use them here, but we don't clean with chlorine or use those tampons with plastic applicators instead of the good old finger lol) but then at home walk around with what we would call "street" shoes instead of "house" shoes (slippers) and don't open their windows regularly. Most rental contracts even specify that the apartment must be ventilated 1-2 times a day. It's called "Stoßlüften" (loosely translated shock- or intermittent ventilation). You just open all windows for 5-10 minutes to create a nice air draft. The base room temperature doesn't drop much but you get fresh oxygen and less mold :)

I don't think it is that they wouldn't be open to that if they knew better. Your culture has these things ever present, and it becomes common knowledge.
Here in the US, many people were raised that you don't waste electricity by doing -insert action here- and grew up without it being part of the culture. So many people want the temperature of their house controlled to the degree, and many somehow think that their indoor air is better.
I personally love to open the windows and also take off my outdoor shoes at the door. I have house shoes at home or go barefoot/sock footed at someone else's house.
At least as far as the shoes go, I have seen a cultural shift toward more people taking shoes off.
Sadly, I have not seen much in the way of people learning that fresh air is good for them.

Yes, we "lüften" every day! After sleeping, after cooking or showering. The rooms are always aired. In winter or summer, always. Mainly in winter, because heating with radiators dries out the air, and heating the air only works if it contains enough oxygen. After 2-3 hours in the living room, the oxygen content in the air is used up. Some people sleep with the windows open, especially in winter. The quality of sleep is much better. I air the room before going to bed, then it is more comfortable for the night. Thank you and greetings from germany 💜

It's despicable how they made the pink ribbon breast cancer movement about pink merchandise and donations, claiming for decades that they're still doing research while women continue to die and no mention of changing the lifestyle to a more natural, organic one as the biggest contributor. As someone with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, I really appreciate this conversation. The level of fragrance that is in EVERYTHING makes it so hard to be in spaces that don't make me sick. Folks with MCS are like canaries in the coal mine that our environment is becoming very toxic. I'd like to also add that some essential oils can be problematic for people too, plant derived doesn't mean that it's always going to be non-toxic.

I once checked out of a hotel at 3 am and slept in my car because they had used so much bleach cleaning the room and the same scent was all over the sheets. Ubers when they have air fresheners. In a plane next to someone that washes their clothes in Tide etc. The worst.

This is great. I want to add an important Public Service Announcement about getting rid of nonstick cookware: Cooking on stainless steel is a little bit different -- but if you do it correctly, things will slide off and the pan is as easy to clean as nonstick. Most professional chefs use stainless.
But if you try to use it like the habits of nonstick, it won't work at all.
There are numerous sites and youtubes with instructions, but it boils down to preheating the stainless (WITHOUT any oil in it) to high enough temperature that when you splatter a bit of water, it dances around the pan in beads of water (instead of just staying put and evaporating). Then you add oil and cook the thing. It takes practice, but I've eventually been able to even do eggs like this and they slide right out of the pan.
If you can afford it, the ceramic coated cast iron --- very expensive cookware -- is the easiest and is safe.
(I don't know yet what to do about the spatulas. I'll have to try stainless spatulas -- and I don't own any yet)

One of my favorites tools in the kitchen is a flat stainless steel spatula. I use cast iron (switched after reading a book about Florine when studying elements with the kids about 8 years ago). I sold out all our Calphalon at a garage sale. Cast iron is similar to using stainless, don’t add food until the pan is hot.
I’ll put a chicken breast in the pan and then cut it up with the steel spatula.
Steel tongs, stainless steel spatula and a good knife-they get washed and put away right away every time as they get used the most.

I still use talc powder after my weekly shower. I'd love to hear it was OK! I cannot use cornstarch, yuck! And I am very sensitive to carbs and esp. corn, so I don't think I'm going to use it. I'm old, and I am going to use the things that bring me extreme joy. I've changed so much in my diet d/t chronic GI issues and liver disease. I was able to reverse all of these issues in less than 6 months by avoiding highly processed foods, only use tallow, lard, butter/ghee, and eat mostly meats, eggs, and low carb vegies...no nightshades. I love scented sprays and candles, etc...but quit using them when I found out they were bad for my pets and us too. The only one I still use is an organic orange oil spray that I love and my husband doesn't. lol TY so much for all the information. Shared on my FB page.
