How To PROPERLY Close Your Tesla Model 3 Frunk

- Improperly closing your Tesla Model 3 front trunk can cause damage to your hood. Many Model 3 owners use one hand to close their frunk because they have items in their hands when taking things out. If you don't close your front trunk properly you could end up rippling or denting your Tesla Model 3 hood. You don't want that! This is the proper way to close your Model 3 frunk according to the Tesla manual.

Really dragged that one out
Thank you! I now feel confident to use this, as before I was afraid I would dent the frunk by pressing on it.
The wonder car that drives all by itself but you will need be certified in CPR to close the frunk.
LOOOL
doesnt do that well either
Appreciate the video. Yet one more item to my ever growing list of ways Tesla’s designers do crap work.
Saved me after a month of one hand clousure, thanks
*Love Tesla's but that needs to change!! How silly is it that the hood can be so easily damaged* !!
Yo..!! U were “ElsaSTI”!! LOL I used to watch ur videos for STI and now u have a Tesla and I have a Tesla too. Anyway, glad to see ur still making these awesome and helpful videos. Cheers!
My only retort is that when you push down on the logo with one hand, it takes very little force to close it. cant imagine that little bit of force would harm anything. ty
Thanks just got my y and did not know that.
Thank you. Easy when you know how, and saved me a call to Tesla.
Other than being an expensive fix, a power trunk is the way to go. For me, worth every penny. Do your homework on the brands if you go down this route. Lots of videos comparing the two main suppliers.
Nice in winter when your car is all dirty.
😂😂
good trick!. thank you for the explanation. Regards.
Does it work for crown vics ?
With all the tech on this car, you shouldn't need to read a manual to learn how to close the front trunk. Next thing you know, you need to learn how to close the window.
It's good Tesla designed it in an intuitive way...
So there's no way to close it without getting dirt all over both hands... Bummer
😂
That sounds more like a poor engineering! Their software is amazing but missing these basics about what makes a car a car is mind blowing!
That reminds me of "VW Golf door test" video LOLOL.
I agree they couldn't probably address this somehow, but I think it's related to the thin hood they chose to keep weight down. It's all about efficiency with the design, but this seems to be where that idea sacrifices the ability to easily close the hood.
@@lecombattantbr Now you've got me wondering. I'm going to search that out!
Does this apply to the Model X, because I have always closed it with one hand...oops
Yes, it does. Check your manual on page 19, they'll show where you should place your hands.
How long have you owned it and do you notice any damage? I've only used 1 hand because I don't want to put what I'm holding on the ground. I think it's meant for 300+pound guy leaning on the latch. So far it fine
Is the frunk sealed air tight?
No.
funny as basically no car but a lotus car is air tight (lotus got one hammond took under water)
Thats kinda stupid, like you said yourself most of the time i might have things in my hand... tesla needs to fix this
Meh
why wouldn't they design it to just be slammed down makes no sense
Because it's aluminum. Not steel. That thing is super light, you'd have to really slam on it to close.
Anti Tesla’s in the comments, but all of you would liked having one
stunning
Just replace the tension spring that pushes the frunk upwards for that first one-and-a-half inch with a slightly weaker spring. Problem solved (for 2 euros).
They way your frunk makes rubbing noise while opening is not normal .
Thanks IKEA.
That's what you call stupid design. You shouldn't have to cater to the car the car should cater to your use and the way most people would want to close it.
Lol this car seems like a ****box
daughter dented her Y hood the first day she owned it, yesterday! what a overpriced POS design
I thought Tesla is great product. Very very poor instructions to coustomers. I have never seen any manuals says don't drop the hood . Poor enginnering.
picked up a new Y yesterday. the "sales staff" gave us the keys and said enjoy????????????? did nothing to teach or train a first and last time buyer!!!!!
@@mikethetoolman8776 there is literally an entire video section on the car for "how to" under theatre, there is also a manual you can get to from the car. Also its hands free delivery right now, but they will also answer and help you if you need it so you could have asked just most want to grab it and take off.
What a stupid car
