The car manufacturer are doing baby steps and all the automation stuff is basically engineered by third parties like Intel, NVidia, Bosch or Google. But they are looking to define safe regulations for Level 3 and 4 autonomy right now. Tesla is just too fast in delivering 😂
Tried it out myself yesterday and came to almost the same conclusion. The requirement to have your phone within maybe 1-3 meters of distance from your car defeats Smart Summon‘s whole purpose in my eyes. If I‘m already *that* close to my car I can walk up to the driver’s door and get into my car.

Add to that, the car seems to be braking very very lightly, which exaggerates the sound. No, it's not bad build quality, it's just physics.
I'm so sorry for all those EU regulations! I am very impressed with the US version. When I go to the update, I went to a parking lot and it was actually amazing. stops at intersections put on the blinker and comes directly to come to me!

I had a remote caravan mover 15 years ago. No regulation on how far you could be from the caravan whilst using the remote. In fact I often stood 30+ ft away. This distance issue with your model 3 seems a bit odd to me.
What is that weird noise that is heard especially in the first 5 minutes of the video? I don't mean what it does when it starts, but when it's already moving (2:10 and 2:16, for example)
Hopefully in about a year, we will laugh at the early version of Smart Summon (instead of crying). By the way, perhaps think about replacing your phone screen protector and getting some WD 40 for your steering system.
It’s the parking brakes engaging and disengaging. You should hear this sound every time you put the car in park. Although it is harder to hear it from inside the car.
In usa it can do 6 mph and it has no distance limit. 50.1 update made smart summon so much better and it even parks by itself. Smart summon has lot of capabilities but the 20 meter and 6 meter limit is really small. Usa, Japan, Australia all of them allow max summon Europe is only one who limits it.

It still has limit 50 meter (i think) circle but the difference between eu and usa smart summon is that eu has 20m limit per use so you can summon for 20m and then summon stops and you need to summon again.
My theory is, that it tries to use bluetooth for Summon communication, while it should use the LTE or at least WLAN, so the car can actually move houndreds of meters on the parkingspace. There are videos showing that it works in USA very well !

I have heard many places that this is a pure EU-regulation issue. They've basically rendered summon useless by a regulation that requires remote controlling to be within 6 meters of the vehicle (which is why you feel you have to walk next to it like it's on a leash). Which is kind of absurd for a feature such as summon, because why would you summon your car if you're right next to it? Only really useful in the EU for that 'someone parked 5cm away from my cardoor'-situation. To be clear, this is purely an EU-regulation issue, so NOT Teslas fault.
Can't wait until Tesla releases its feature-complete self-driving. US will feel like years ahead of EU. But hey, we can walk our car by a leach at least...
It's because Germany is lobbing for big auto in EU parlament. They have a lot of power in EU. Those regulations aren't just bad, they are think out to be bad and they won't change until other companies catch up to the Tesla in terms of autopilot technology, mark my words. At least we have the USA.
You can have at all the times a phone inside Tesla with the Tesla app enabled but obviously without the unlocking by phone feature enabled and then you can connect to it via other phone with a remote management app and actually bypass the regulation

The dirt marks on the rear of the rear doors are really annoying - it seems to be the first area that gets a build-up of grime, other than the back end.
Unless the regulations change then Tesla may as well remove this feature completely for us. Standing almost next to your car watching it wobble about in a complete state of confusion serves no purpose whatsoever.

Well the dipshittery is UK regulations, not EU laws. There are guidelines by the EU based on how autonomous the car is. It’s up to the individual countries to implement it as laws and regulations and how much they want to follow these guidelines. My guess is that Tesla probably thought it’s not worth to make separate rules the car has to follow depending on the country.
Macario works only on private ground or parking spaces. There are geofences identifying them. Maybe they are not set correctly everywhere. Anyway - doesn’t make sense when you have to be that close to the car 😶

I’m in the UK/EU. Caravan movers have been used in the EU for years too. If this is an EU reg for the Advanced summon, then it’s a contradictory one.
Try sitting in the passenger seat with Smart Summon, then the 6 metre thing shouldn't be an issue.

That is just the brakes, they weren't fully released, just slightly, that made that noise.
