I like how your video on Movie Battles II is still relevant in regards to this Battlefront release as well. That's still one of my favorite videos on UA-cam and is what originally let me know about that mod.
Thanks for throwing together this highlight reel! It has been hard to get a good, quick impression of the game since a lot of experiences seem to vary with the Classic Collection so this helped me get an idea of the state of things.
Despite all the multi-player complaints there's much less broken mechanics though unfortunately with it being an older game that means unpredictable violent breaking of multi-player until it's tested and updated

Man, I feel bad for Aspyr. It seems like what happened is nobody could dig up the original PC source code for the game, so they took the Xbox (or Playstation???) version and gave it to Asypr because they usually do porting jobs. The result shows just how horrible of an idea that is, though; for a game as old as Battlefront, you'd need quite a lot of time to do a proper makeover, especially if you're having to throw out most of the UI, the netcode, some of the controls, etc., to make things workable on PC. And Aspyr don't really have experience doing reworks, they just do platform ports. It must have sucked working on this knowing that it would end up in the dumpster immediately.
Reminder that Aspyr did the famous KOTOR II update that was a rework, not a port. They have experience with both, reworks and ports. The issue is ultimately lack of consistency with their work, whether it be the devs involved or simply time constraints, or possibly whatever other corporate bs goes into these sorts of releases. However, when Aspyr gets something done well, it's phenomenal. They just have way more misses than they should, and unfortunately this is one of them.

I will not agree. Single player mode, campaign and galactic conquest, are great in BF2. You should totally try it, if you never played
There's no reason to play this over the original for that either, though. My understanding from the steam reviews is that even the campaign is at least somewhat broken in the re-release.
