i cant hear Temuera act or speak and not be reminded of his lines, grunts of pain , or cries of death from his clone characters, happens when you play and mod movie battles 2 for so long, i love it, cracks me everytime

Should have started with bounty hunting, show him as a villain, he slowly realizes the cruelty (to an extent) is making everyone’s lives worse and then he assassinates bib to take over the crime but rules by example and gains respect through fear. Becoming less cruel over time as the show progresses.
Should have been a pg rated john wick/godfather.
Yeah I really wanted a more mafia-like feel from this show but I'm honestly fine with seeing his character development from the clone wars come to an end (kinda)

Humanizing does not mean they have to make him a heroic character (which seems to be their intent) or that he needs to become a weak dumbass (which is their execution).

Disney's Star Wars gives me a headache. It's the uncanny valley effect of a media property. The equivalent of someone walking around wearing a very convincing skin suit of your best friend from high school. And everybody treats them like they're the same person. But every now and then you get the whiff of rot and get a feeling like they're injecting you with something suspect.
Imagine giving a whole show about a legendary pop culture icon to the guy who made Spy Kids.
I wish I could say I'm surprised, but y'know, Disney.
How many iterations of the Seven Samurai plot has the Star Wars universe done at this point? 4? 5?

Seeing your video about boba get in legends is really making me wish we got an adaptation of that character in this show.
Honestly the only thing that bugged me about this show was boba and fennec walking around with no blasters and getting beaten up by some dudes with shields, as if either hardened fighter would ever walk around without weapons

I think those overly flashy speeder bikes were one of the weird things the show got wrong xD
as someone who would have preferred fett never be unmasked, but still enjoyed Mando S2's depiction of him (and was coming around to the whole clone backstory because of it) i can't begin to describe just how much i disliked BoBF. Waste of a Boba Fett show, in large part because of the depiction of its protagonist. People have been telling me "nah boba fett is lame" for years, and now they're finally right, because of this show. It would be more accurately described as the book of Buddy Fett

3 episodes in and I’m already getting the feeling I need to turn my brain off to enjoy it. All of the questionable story points and complete character rebranding aside, the biggest offender is just how boring it is. The action is so slow and clunky, and the chases are laughable. I have a feeling a lot of the slowness of everything comes from the “Volume Technology” Disney is using in place of actual set pieces and location shooting
Poor writing has turned into a trademark for the Disney's Star Wars franchise. 4.5 episodes is all I could stomach of The Macadamian before I quit. Bad dialog, stupid actions by the characters, terrible choreography, poor pacing. As bad as the last few Star Trek series.
Anything that requires you to "turn your brain off" to enjoy it is worthless. Some people are okay with this. And these are the people who say things like "it's just a movie/show/game". To me, this is a cop out response. We know it's just a show. But that doesn't meant that we as viewers need to accept mediocrity. It's like being forced to eat shitty food and when you say the food tastes bad, the people around you say "it's just food". It should be done well. Entertainment should be done well. It shouldn't be just mindless consumption of garbage, especially if it shits on a great original concept.

Dude, great video. Glad you're making so many lately. I have been constantly thinking about watching this show with the old crew and getting your opinions. And I couldn't agree more. The demystification of Boba Fett like had to happen for a show to exist I guess, but there are some super weird decisions. I like the flashback scenes the most so far. The present day timeline is just awkward but I also sort of like the absurdity, especially the Robert Rodriguez weirdness lmao. I also need answers for his motivations though, its weird.
I understand having the actor of Jango Fett/Every clone on film, but.. Boba isnt a clone with advanced aging iirc, he's meant to be like.. 40, not 60

They made Boba a total whuss, that is what is the most wrong, plus he is inept, overall dumb, and unknown instead of the most feared man in the galaxy
They fundamentally changed his character from silent, mysterious ultimate badass to a lame secondary character in his own show. A few changes and the Mandalorian could have been Boba Fett, he should have been like that, but more dangerous and cunning...

I really appreciate you going through these episodes in a quick and entertaining way so I don't have to. I watched the first few of The Manticorian and I wish I could get that time back. I see that the theme with the last few Star Wars movies and The Macadamian continues here, where there are huge writing issues with the characters and setting cohesion. Hope you continue "Jedi Nights" again.
I think WHY Boba doesn't want to be a Bounty Hunter anymore is meant to be a mystery. As if something happened to him during his time with the Tuscan's that changed his perception of life. While that could (and may have already) happened, they don't lean into the mystery of it as much as they probably should. Right now it feels like quitting the profession was something he decided in an afternoon, and hasn't thought about since.
Having a horrific near death experience in the Sarlacc, only landing there because of the bounty hunting life and the tuskens being the first and only real family he's had since Jango would be a good reason for even the most hardened bounty hunter to change their perception on their choices in life. The path of getting out of the sarlacc, to growing a relationship and family with the tuskens, to regaining his strength again is all part of the transition period from the old to the new Boba. I think it's very true to Star Wars to want to better yourself in pursuit of a better life for both Boba and those around him, because everyone can mutually benefit from it. He's still a crime lord, and means to do it with integrity. It feels very much like Vito Corleone, and not like Michael Corleone in comparison.
i always thought those Tuskan club things were made out of metal, mabey even with some tech in them to make them like a gravity hammer but smaller, hey it makes about as much sence as the tuskans haveing railguns/ long blaster rifles that look like musckets. nope. its wood. vision quest space wood but wood al the same.

This show feels like a goofy sci fi shoq from the 90s. Replace Boba with Crichton and it's basically Farscape. And I love it.
The bounty hunter wars had potential. I even enjoyed the first book. But the story waste too much time in plenty of different areas.
Maybe Disney should have just released this on Hulu or something so it could have been good and left Favreau with the Mandalorian show.
I always assumed the scooter gang are like the dirtbag teens that put like a giant spoiler on like, their mom's toyota corolla because they're in the middle of nowhere and poor, and they saw fast and furious and thought that was cool.

A fine video and analysis, when I heard about the show I thought we'd get some cool anti-hero action but so far we've gotten more violence and morally grey actions from The Mandalorian

I always saw Boba, especially in the EU, as a hard nosed anti hero. The morally grey medium to the more grandiose light/dark power struggle always keeping the Galaxy in constant turmoil. I think that’s why I gravitated toward him as a character once I got past his armor. Contorting him into a” heroic crime lord” who cries over sand people & feels trapped in his dads old armor is typical Disney rebranding. It really wouldn’t have been hard to keep him the hard edged bounty hunter and differentiate from Din, who is sorta turning a new leaf after having protected Grogu and won the dark saber. Oh well though. Guess we watch the old dude that plays with sticks in the desert
Eventually the show got so boring they had to bring the main character from another show to make it interesting.

to me, this show is the story of the Boba that got a stray stick in his backpack and ended up in a monster pit. Guy just wants a stable retirement.
older star wars fans I think overestimated Boba's badassery because his prototype toy almost merc'd an actual human child.
So Vader treated him with respect in ep5 cos why? They both wore helmets? I am sure the fact that he is "the most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy" has nothing to do with it.
@@RexExLiberi Boba's a known clone and vader probably still has some positive feelings toward the clones. Also, Vader probably just pulled folks who had contracts with Jabba as it was the simplest way to Solo. Also, if Boba is so hyper-compotent, why would Vader give him the extraordinarily stern "no disintegrations"? (mostly joking, boba has always just been a throwaway space cowboy minor character to me)
@@TheBroganBurke Vader doesn't give two shits about clones. Ok he worked for Jabba, so what? Vader clearly treats him with infinitely more respect than he does anyone else in the entire trilogy besides the emperor. The "no disintegration" remark is obviously intended to inform the audience that Boba is a formidable foe prone to using deadly and ruthless methods, clearly the same character we see in the show...
@@RexExLiberi Well, you hire a guy that's a part of Jabba's network so you can calculate he's going to Bespin based on last known location. I imagine Empire didn't have files on who's friends with whom, but Jabba definitely might. and the clone thing is big for Vader, he almost certainly would trust a clone more than the lousy conscripts, the clone wars are what shaped who he is and his beliefs about power. there's no respect from Vader, just some minor gladness that someone following his orders was finally helpful.

The problem with the show for me is that Boba Fett is a very passive character. He barely takes action to do anything. All the characters around him make him do something. It makes for a very uninteresting character. The one action he did take, stealing the speeder bikes which leads to the death of the Tuskens (supposedly) is great character work. But there was no scene with him grappling with the fact that he caused it, no guilt at all. Just kind of "well this sucks and is sad". Apart from 1 or 2 cool moments the show is extremely boring and uninteresting.
I also don't understand why he is barely fighting at all. He's definitely a different character than in Legends, but in the Mandalorian he kicked plenty of ass.
Spoilers for episode 4 if you haven't seen it:
We get some explanation for why he doesn't want to be a bounty hunter anymore. It's pretty weak in my opinion. Sure Boba has ties to a handful of other bounty hunters but why would he care about them generally? He wants to call the shots now? But why? It seems like he just wants to retire more than anything. Being considered dead by the galaxy seems like a pretty good start so it's just confusing that he'd come back and put himself in more danger. This show just gives off vibes that they wanted to make a Boba Fett show just to make one.
Who the heck approved the Vespa paintjobs? Or even just the Vespas? Very out of touch with the Star Wars aesthetic
For now I like the show I think it's good(Second episode was great) but it could be a lot better.
This show is utter garbage, but it’s the third best thing Disney has done behind Rogue One and Solo.
Me, after not watching any of this show, heard that bit of the opening song and thought, "That's fake, that can't be the real song".

Dear god, what a joke of a composer.
The biggest problem by far right now is the lack of clear motivation for why Fett wants to be a mob boss. It makes it hard to be invested in what he is doing other than "you are supposed to like Boba Fett, so be invested in his success purely off that you sheeple". The Tusken stuff was neat, but then they reduce all that storytelling and character building of the Tuskens down to "Boba is mad his Tusken family is dead" when they killed them all off.
The speeder bike gang chase was by far the worst thing I have ever seen, it was almost comical. They were like, trying to convey speed but it looked like you could run faster than they were going and they even tried to speed up the frame rate of the footage to make it look like they were going super fast. And the stupid bright colours made it really stand out when it was green-screened in. It was horrible and they should be ashamed of that chase sequence.
This series sucks to be honest. Second episode was ok, but first and third were awful. Mostly because Rodriguez's directing, it's atrocious. Also Boba's character is just weak to be honest, he's like one guy with a friend. I hope it'll get better, but now its 5/10.
The series so far is a 50/50 it's no mandalorian but it's aight on it's own
This show is honestly more interesting than the Mandalorian and it's overused "Tough guy becomes good after spending time with a kid" trope. I'm hoping it becomes better than it.
