Absolutely… all the deputies on that bus were two of them sounded like they barely had a middle school education. HOWEVER out comes the black Sheriff reading a prepared statement. Saw the same thing in Louisiana when several white State Troopers beat and dragged a black man who led them on a high speed chase. They lied on their report stating the man hit a tree. After the dust settled and the media knew this whole thing was a lie out comes a black deputy at a press conference repeating the same lie.

The "large amounts of money" comment struck me, as so-called "civil asset forfeiture" is literally legalized highway robbery by police. If you get pulled over for a traffic violation and the police ask you if you have large sums of cash with you, they are looking to steal that money under the presumption that you are somehow involved in illicit activities. You can have receipts, bank statements, doesn't matter. Our fourth amendment rights in this country have been so denuded over the decades that police can rob us and be rewarded for it.
It is so infuriating that this still happens in GA! What about the drugs they plant during stops like these? Assigning folks a GA drivers license and address WHO NEVER LIVED IN THE STATE just to revoke it, which revokes their license in every other state!
These cops need to fired. A search for NO REASON. These students need to get an attorney and file suit NOW.
I can hear the cops now, "We searched a bus full of black people, young black people and we didn't find a single illegal drug! I don't believe this! What is the world coming to!" I know they are freaking out especially with all the negative publicity this is generating. I think the chief better watch out, he may be the sacrificial lamb.
I bet the attorney's are lining up for this one. That check is going to be big for an attorney.
“…personal belongings …were not searched”. What part of opening bags, looking at medication, opening people’s gifts, and other belongings actually isn’t personal? I would really like somebody to explain to me how they can just go from a traffic stop to searching people’s belongings like that without consent on anyone’s part. And I would like the Sheriff to explain how searching people’s bags isn’t in fact a violation of their 4th amendment rights or in any way resembles the statement he gave the Press?
The comment made between the Deputies is all you need to know about why this occurred and the degree of ignorance these Deputies possess about women athletes (“school girls”).
This whole stop was about the Deputies wanting to feel successful at finding a big haul of drugs. If you listen to the bodycam footage there was a ton of wind there. How does a drug dog successfully indicate a presence of drugs in that environment? Or do people think he was trained to indicate on command to give probable cause?
@Susan Bailey::: That must be a super dog to smell drugs while just a few feet away cars are wising by, the wind is blowing, and the bus is running to include the AC unit while emitting diesel fumes.

I grew up hearing stories about racially motivated police discrimination, as well as witnessing it. After I left “the hood”, I encountered many whites that dismissed it all, and that was largely because that didn’t seem to think that police could act that way.
Well, today, it is in full view.
Worked with a white woman who refused to believe that cops did this until we were going to lunch one day and got stopped and approached by the police with their guns drawn. Why were we stopped, she was laughing and they thought she was being held against her will and was under duress. They didn't want to believe her when she told them we were coworkers on our way to lunch and she was fine.

I think this traffic stop was pretty ridiculous and just because it appears to me if I have this right there was a black police administrator washing this over that doesn't wash with me the problem I have I don't have a problem with them stopping him for a lane violation but I do have a problem with their accusatory language and demeanor when speaking with the people on the bus like we're going to find something and look they left with their tail between their legs they didn't find anything if 30 years and please work has taught me anything you don't assume that you're going to catch somebody in the act things aren't always as they appear and you never know who you're dealing with and in my view they were never going to find large amounts of drugs or cash on that bus that goes pretty much without saying although there is a remote possibility I'm not seeing it
Even if someone on that bus did have some narcotics or paraphernalia of some kind it's going to be such a small amount it's not going to be worth wasting your time it would be recreational use at best but look that didn't even happen so now they look stupid and they were talking down to these kids and then they did violate the 4th amendment they didn't have probable cause to open that girl's package it was sealed up they needed a warrant for that and we never saw that dog sit down to alert that there was drugs on that bus and even if he did they didn't find anything that doesn't look good for the dog maybe that dog needs to be put out of service and I have one more thing to say about police dogs
We have I think it is seven or eight police dogs at my department I don't know how well they do when it comes to finding drugs and stuff I don't think we have a drug dog anymore and I'm not around the dogs that much really at all in the last number of years haven't had any interaction with them but I think police work really needs to reconsider not using drug dogs because I think they're highly inaccurate and their subject to maybe wanting to please their trainer their partner and I think it's too easy for the person of the team the police officer to indicate that he wants the dog to alert now if it's a patrol dog that bites that's a different thing sometimes that's a good thing because a patrol dog can be a backup partner for his human but drug dogs I'm not seeing it I think they can be abused way too easily and that may have been the case here with this bus

This was an illegal stop from the start. Busses and motorcoaches are specifically excluded from O.C.G.A. 40-6-52 (A) and are allowed to use any lane.
False. I'm a commercial driver. If the signs say no buses in left lane then that's what it is. "BUT" there is no signs on that stretch of interstate 95 that says that. Mile marker 73 is about 45 miles or so South of Savannah. Give or take a few miles.

This Sheriff needed to READ his NOTES before he went on CAMERA. 😡😡😡
No probable cause,just disgusting.
B.S stops like this is exactly why I didn't want to be a cop, harassing, humiliating and tormenting, innocent citizens.I chose to volunteer to go fight insurgents in Iraq with the Texas National Guard(4 deployments)instead of becoming a cop. SEMPER-Fi.
Yep they harassing them
Thank you for your service!!
While you are protecting our freedom and rights outside the U.S. with your life we have the narcissist, psychopaths taking away legally (mostly illegally and protected). Infuriating so many great men and women’s of all colors and nationality lives lost in our military so we can live safely. I love the U.S.A but fear and sadness takes over from racial profiling and more.
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💯💯💯👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
That was completely illegal what they did. The bullies with badges saw a bus full of black students and knew nobody would stop their ILLEGAL search and guess what? THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT!! This sh!t needs to stop!
The only surprising thing about this whole charade is that no drugs were planted by any officers(thanks to bodycams of course.)
What was the probable cause for searching the bus?
A traffic violation is one thing. But it leading to searching the bus and thinking they automatically had the authority to search because they had already pulled the bus over isn't probable cause.
The only possible cause is that the freeway is considered a forfeiture corridor. And that assumption is likely since they mentioned several cars were stopped. But that is called profiling. Not necessarily racial profiling, but generally profiling.
If you're ever stopped for drugs and they insist on using dogs, be adamant that the cops must not encourage the dog! A properly trained dog does not need coaxing.
I would sue the sheriff's department.
You wouldn't win. You cannot prove his racial profiling, they did not physically search any of the girls, they did a routine traffic stop and search just like they do any other citizen. Imagine if you were a police officer and you knew of a road that was a high traffic area and because of the increase of crime in your city you know where the drugs are being piped through, you would do the exact same search no matter the skin color.
I hope they do sue
Damages minimal though, probably a few thousand dollars. No physical injuries or death. Might not be worth cost of lawyer fees.
This team got extremely lucky...they are fortunate that those cops didn't plant anything on them! If I was the coach I would have gotten off that bus and filmed the seArch...now that might have escalated things but better to be safe than sorry
They filmed it from the bus best they could
@@norml.hugh-mann that's why I would have gotten off that bus and filmed in the wide open..bus have dark tints plus the height of the bus. Its a better view out side the bus.they could have easily planted something ..if the dog hit why they didn't search the entire bus..pull everybody off and let tHe the dogs go through the whole bus. I say they just wanted to rummage through some black female teenagers clothes and under garments..lol lol..if you were a woman who would want to wear clothes and under garments after strange men have had their grubby fingers and hands all over them....I'm just saying ..lol
Wow. He can not even answer her question.
If he was being honest he wouldn't need to read a "statement"!
