- Delaware’s attorney general is calling for a federal investigation after newly released body camera footage shows Georgia deputies searching through the personal items of Delaware State University’s lacrosse team, contradicting statements from their sheriff. The development comes amid allegations that the deputies racially profiled the predominately African American student-athletes and their coach last month. NBC10’s Leah Uko speaks with the lacrosse team’s coach as well as an attorney and father of one of the players. She also has a new statement from the sheriff who clarified his initial comments.

Those cops made a horrible decision to search their property. They violated they're civil rights by searching their property without cause.

Their phony dog alert gives them probable cause, but the problem is they train the dog to alert on command, so they always get probable cause. It is a racket used all over the US and thousands of vehicles daily. Road pirates.
the claim that the dog alerted is, under SCOUS ruling, just cause for a warrantless search. The issue is with the reason for the stop in the first place. Under the Georgia law the cops used to stop the bus it does in fact state that trucks are no allowed to be in the far left lane, it goes on to say that buses and motorcoaches are exempt.
@@Troyden65 They just fake a traffic violation to make contact with the vehicle, and then they bring in the dog and the dog always alerts to drugs, because they train it to alert on command. This gives them probable cause to search the vehicle. They profile every vehicle before they pull it over. This is a highly organized criminal racket they have going here. It is done nationwide, and I shudder to think how many vehicles have been pulled over using this phony illegal routine.
The Sheriff is a pawn….like a dummy with strings. Put a black man In The position of the Sheriff to make the public think things are changing but he’s not the one calling the shots in that town. He can barely even read. He didn’t write that speech, nor practice it. SMH.

@@hcwcars1 I agree regarding the “defund the police” statement. It does not help get the true point across. People do not understand what the statement actually means. So it comes off in a bad light to people that can’t make sense of it.
But I have a real question for you, do you think what these officers did was right? Do you think they should be able to do this to random drivers/passengers, just because they are hoping to find something that will give them a reason to either put them in a cage, cost them money or give them a permanent record?
How serendipitous that an attorney’s daughter was on that team and on that bus at the time
you go from a traffic infraction (driving left lane) which is unusual for Georgia to a canine search to checking luggage. "pretextual" stop are police tactics especially for people of color.... More things change and the more many things stay the same.

And they use a dog trained to alert on command. That dog didn't smell anything, it was the handler who gave the dog the command to alert. That is why they always get probable cause to search. Then when they find no drugs, they shrug their shoulders and say the dog is having a bad day. Bullshit! They are liars and crooks who run a scam on every vehicle they pull over. Asset forfeiture is the name of their game.
That deputy didn’t ask to check luggage, he told them they were checking it. Stopped for a lane violation but no citation issued, pretextual traffic stop.
It's been awhile for me but doesn't the officers need to get verberal consent from each and every person on the bus for a search? I mean literally each person has to actually say I consent or don't consent for the record they can't just get a crowd response they have to talk to everyone first. Second they said the dog had a hit..ok how many passes did they give the dog because in Indiana our dogs have to pass 3 times..they hit we take them to another spot then we take them back to confirm the hit then take them back one more time.. The dogs are highly trained but even they have off days that's why no one hit is confirmation for anything and considering they found nothing must mean they went on that first hit.

After he got the driver out and question him by his car the officer said… “it’s a bunch of school girls prolly some weed on there.” That sounds like profiling….

I was sitting passenger while driving through Georgia a couple years ago, i made eye contact with a white cop who was sitting in the middle of the highway. Suddenly we get pulled over for “touching the white line” and they K9 our car and search our luggage for 40 mins. I can’t help but think me being tan had a role in the whole situation 😒
This was never about that traffic infraction when he originally went on that he saw the color of those women and immediately went a different route, this was definitely racial profiling.

Yes fired is the exercise that needs to be done and it needs to go viral. I live in Georgia and I've never run into this. But I know it does exist, because I live in Georgia. And yes I'm black. I also know my rights. Which means you don't tell me you're going to search my car, you ask me that. He knew how the phrase it, so they didn't feel comfortable pushing back.

There was absolutely no probable cause for a search. The age of the people on the bus is not probable cause. And per the body cam the only reason they searched that bus is because there were a bunch of young women, mostly people of color, and they assumed they would find something. That's not probable cause, that's abusive power.
Apologizing is not enough. Stop just wanting a Public Apologies. The Cops need to be fired or suspended for a month without pay while being retrained. Words are easily tossed out of the mouth not meaning or deeply coming from the 💜. smh smh

I lived in a small Georgia Town and our Team was never pulled over by Any Law Enforcement making allegations about weed etc. We are to check Y'all's belongings blah blah blah ☹️. My opinion is that an investigation will reveal that the bus was targeted for a while on the road. The officers/sheriff were dispatching each other. Let’s see what their records show. Perhaps they knew who had rented the bus before they made their move. I’m not a legal expert, simply sharing my opinion

When I worked for a Jr College in Texas our local PD always sent at least one PD Car along with all the sports teams busses. We went out of State and were national football championship winners 3 times. They should be able to do that for a University College.
