In more ways than you know. Check out O. C.G.A 40-6-52 which excludes buses/motor coaches from the left lane restrictions. Why was the driver only issued a warning? I’d say that when trying to look up the statute for the ticket, it was realized that there was no citable offense. Rather than saying, “Ooops, we made a mistake pulling you over, which also means we had no right to conduct a search on a vehicle that was stopped unlawfully, they acted like they were doing the driver a solid by only giving him a warning.
" If we find anything then we can't help you" They aren't there to "help" you. They are there to arrest you or steal from you. They should have never been allowed on the buss.
It's sad to me that cops, folks who are supposed to be public servants in enforcing law and order, are increasingly portrayed as folks you can't rely on. It's for good reasons too so you can't dismiss the distrust out of silliness of claims when you have videos like this (and there are much worse out there). We're slipping into dark times...
A police chief lying? That’s what all law enforcement officers are trained to do. Nothing ever good comes from lying! This behavior is both shameful and disgusting!
I'm a truck driver with over ten years of experience and these traffic stops on the interstates involving a search of a vehicle are the most dangerous traffic stops for everyone on the interstate. It slows down the traffic flow to a crawling speeds because of onlooking passing vehicles and thus it causes traffic to come to a complete stop quarter mile up the road and sometimes even less than that. The probability of accidents occurring is really high, even fatalities. Notice how there is no traffic passing by and I wonder why. I'm absolutely certain that there is data available and it just needs to be gathered in order to get statistics involving traffic stops on the shoulders of our interstates and how many accidents they cause. Even a simple speeding traffic stop should not be performed on the interstate shoulder, but on the off ramp of an exit. It should be mandatory and enforced by the law. Shoulders are for an emergencies, not a source of an income and traffic laws can be enforced in a much safer way.
I agree, Only if cops had the ability to either call your phone, connect through to the radio or some ability to contact the driver being pulled over so they can give clear instructions where to pull over safely.
Imagine if America actually paid its workers to work and then raised the sales tax to twelve percent 😳 🙄. Wow it's so simple and then police 🚔 wouldn't be a source of income.
You realize why cops say that, right? It makes the traffic stop quicker and almost always leads the cop to letting the person off a lot easier than they normally would. If you wanna try to bullshit the cop and beat around the bush, they'll find your baggie of weed and make you go the full 9 yards. If you just confess about having a baggie of weed, they'll probably just take it from you to destroy it and send you on your way.
There was no PC for them to search and seize. All I heard was “there are a bunch of school girls on that bus, there’s probably some weed.” Are you serious? They didn’t smell anything or see any paraphernalia in plain sight that would lead them to that conclusion. Now, someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but that doesn’t sound lawful at all. That county deserves the heat it’s getting. You would think after all the negative press law enforcement is getting they would try to be an example and just do their jobs as “civil servants,” instead of looking for things they have no reasonable cause to presume are there.
No, they are going to continue to harass and bully. What a lot of departments are doing now are "work slow downs" and "slow rolls" as way of protesting the extra scrutiny and mandates that police officers follow the law, while enforcing it.
If a cop ever says to you: "tell me now so that I can help you" and you're not suffering a medical emergency or are in an active shooter situation, they aren't really there to 'help' you.
@Heather Lee Nope. It's the greatest lie an officer of the "law" will tell you. They cannot "help you", unless you want a free ride and room and board in the local jail. They had no legal probable cause. It's a violation of the 4th Amendment.
@Heather Lee they are not your friend. They will bust you. Never talk to an officer - they know how to trick you. Merely say that you decline to speak, and also say no when they ask to search anything.
There isn’t any situation that law enforcement doesn’t make worse. When an officer says: “How can I help you?” He really means: how can I find away to put you in jail. Cops have forgotten how to protect and serve. Cops in America are both shameful and disgusting. A good cop is as rare as a unicorn!
Hope there is a federal lawsuit against these officer and the County Sheriff's Department for violation of these players rights. This is not Nazi Germany with officers acting like the German SS during World War II. This is out right appalling.

Supreme court has ruled you cannot extend a traffic stop beyond the time it takes to write up the initial infraction (usually 20mn max). Police cannot delay a stop to wait for a drug dog to be called in. Police tried this on me and said I would have to wait for the dog to arrive. I told them the law and they still made me wait 45mn (which brought the total time stopped to over an hour. I sued and won a nice settlement and got the officer fired. Know your rights.

Your issue is with the driver of the bus that got them pulled over. There’s no violation of their rights. I’m sure at some point a fine GA sheriffs officer smelled marijuana on that bus. Since that’s probable cause and they were looking for marijuana…. Hell I bet every officer there smelled marijuana on that bus. They probably smelled marijuana as the bus was driving down the road. There’s your probable cause to search. Which is a fully legal means of search in GA.
@@peterreily1490 regardless of all that they lied in their reports. They claimed they didn't search personal belongings, which they did... So even with the most lenient pro-cop stance possible, they still committed crimes.
This is a perfect example of giving WAY too much power to a police organization. First of all, a traffic stop doesn't NOT constitute a reason to search of items, you need a freaking warrant for that. But going way beyond the legality of all this crap, you have to wonder what kind of world we live in when cops intimidate people like this for no reason at all. Got a problem with the bus and the bus driver? You issue warning or traffic tickets to that individual and/or company that's it and that's all.
@donald johnson it’s not legal opinion. It’s the law dude. You don’t need to be a lawyer to understand how the law works. Well, maybe aren’t smart enough to understand, but the common citizen can, and does understand the constitution. Again, the people that wrote the damn thing were not lawyers.
Cops Don’t need a warrant. But they do need reasonable suspicion/probable cause to extend and progress the detainment into other investigative areas. Stop putting out bad info pls.
The bus was pulled over for a traffic violation. What business did they have to search the passengers? Definitely a violation of the Fourth Amendment. They had no probable cause. Black or white, this is disgusting and must not be tolerated. All of the law enforcement "officials" involved in this need to be fired and their behavior investigated thoroughly with any and all possible charges filed.
According to other videos of similar encounters, a bus is considered a public space and so the police can ask but you can also decline (but they dont tell you that and since they can lie they will resort to threats, since most people dont know their rights and/or dont want the hassle they just give up and comply)
@@likeablecloud2454 Is that true of a chartered or university bus? I get city buses, but does what you say hold true if not a city or public school bus?

Not everyone is drug addicts, that's something cops need to remember when making traffic stops, I was stopped a few years ago and the cop was searching my car, I think he was so fixated on the idea of finding drugs, he asked me what was the contraption in my trunk, and his face was serious, I laughed so hard I was crying, it was a coffee pot y'all, it wasn't fancy or nothing just a basic 12 cup coffee pot

You can cut the audio together to say anything you want but the officers intentions were obvious… they pulled this bus over, saw a bunch of students from out of state, and immediately assumed the worst and tried to find drugs on them. Knowing they were from Delaware these officers OBVIOUSLY KNEW that On July 31, 2019, Gov. John Carney signed SB 45 into law, which expanded the state's decriminalization law to those under 21. This led the officers to believe that there was a chance one of these students was carrying drugs over state lines. It’s all speculation, but it makes sense. Do your research.

The biggest problem I have with law enforcement and the #1 thing citizens MUST understand is that a cop's intention and goal is to continually escalate an encounter to an arrestable offense. The police department as well as the officer get commodations and funding based on the number of arrests and the severity of such. Therefore, there is a financial incentive for police departments to try to force every encounter into an arrestable offense. As soon as people start to understand this they will STFO and quit helping the cops take it to an arrestable situation. This can only happen if the citizen is acutely aware of their rights, able to confidently but respectfully articulate said rights as well as demand that they be respected by law enforcement. Of course, doing it respectfully and calmly will get you a lot further down the road but it's also going to guarantee that it will piss off the cop and more than likely you will end up with a ticket at a minimum.
Nobody cares fool. You MUST understand people like it when you get triggered. FFS go find a safe space and cry about it. After that think about this....don't like cops? How about stop doin sht where you deal w them DAILY....

Lets see, a black bus driver and black students get searched over a traffic violation the driver committed? The law enforcement agency needs to be investigated and sued. This is called fishing and it happens everyday all over the country. Outside Philadelphia in bensalem they set up at multiple locations along street rd and pull people over and ALLWAYS search their car. I did daily deliveries by there for 8 years and never saw them ever pull someone over, write a ticket and leave. They are illegally stopping and searching people looking for anything no matter how small. Like a air freshener is blocking your field of vision is one ridiculous excuse. Meanwhile illegal aliens live in philly and people drive unregistered uninsured cars. Dirt bikes and go carts do wheelies and swerve in and out of traffic, people shoot up heroin in public. But the mayor wants more criminals on the streets, no plastic bags, free heroin needles, exorbitant taxes on beer soda and cigarettes, sanctuary city allowing drugs from south america to flow freely. It just goes to show there is zero accountability and no equal laws or punishments from one county, state to the next. Add to that the two tiered justice system. America is a corrupt crime syndicate. A new age mafia runs the government and policing.
Let's be clear who the only group who takes that freedom away with their own two hands is - police officers. Without the leeches of LE to enforce politicians edicts upon the public at the point of a pistol in exchange for taxpayer funded paychecks and pensions, every single law ever written is nothing more than a mere suggestion.
Did you guys hear what that one cop was saying? Never confess anything. They just wanted their search to be over sooner so they didn't have to work as hard. Talk to a lawyer before you say a single damn word to these guys.
As a resident of Georgia ... My landlord called the police on me so she could change my lock on the door in violation of the lease's 24 hour notice to enter clause. I am still shaking! Who do I call? Who is protecting me? I will need to protect my self without permission, as my natural born right.
This has been "standard operating procedure" for law enforcement for years and years. When the cops saw a bus filled with black students, they assumed that "drugs" must be on-board. It was a presumption of guilty and an excuse for the cops to go on a "fishing expedition" to look for assets to seize.
Bus full of black students? Did you watch the video? Race had nothing to do with it and it was not a bus full of black students. There white, Hispanic, black, and who know what else on that bus. The issue here is abuse of power by the police in which they violated everyone's civil rights without probable cause. Once again an advocate for police, like myself, is left mouth agape and frustrated with no logical explanation to defend the police unless there is something behind the scenes that wasn’t reported. Without an active crime I’d have told them to go pound sand and get a warrant especially if I’m 100% sure of my innocence. So what was the reasonable suspicion to search? None is my guess and I think a lawsuit is called for to decrease the unwarranted searches. Grasping straws does NOT work.
Over the past five years I've grown more and more distrustful of police, which is frustrating because I've personally only had positive experiences with them. Those positive experiences are completely undermined when not only will cops lie, but then their departments, unions, and advocates back them even beyond the point where they are demonstrably culpable. It undermines ALL of our constitutional liberties, and makes our communities less safe.
There are enough students in there to make a series of lawsuits reasonably profitable I should think. Time for that little department's revenue generator to get turned on its head.
Fighting crime is vastly more expensive than simply unlawfully ambushing and illegally searching lawful citizens. Just follow the MONEY, especially in times when municipal income revenues are 'stressed' and under performing below the municipal 'budget'. This incident is obviiously a crime; but, since 'government' does this, they issue themselves a free pass for their self-legalized "robbery".

In more ways than you know. Check out O. C.G.A 40-6-52 which excludes buses/motor coaches from the left lane restrictions. Why was the driver only issued a warning? I’d say that when trying to look up the statute for the ticket, it was realized that there was no citable offense.

If you just confess about having a baggie of weed, they'll probably just take it from you to destroy it and send you on your way.

They keep acting like idiots. All butt-hurt when people say they suck and still don’t get it.
No, they are going to continue to harass and bully. What a lot of departments are doing now are "work slow downs" and "slow rolls" as way of protesting the extra scrutiny and mandates that police officers follow the law, while enforcing it.

How many times have they pulled this "My dog alerted to your car" routine? They can make the dog "alert" any time they want. Hope they sue them.
"Sit boy(whisper)" "SEE HE ALERTED, TIME TO TOSS YOUR CAR"
officers can make a dog alert on command using visual cues. Its a way to abuse and violate our rights. I was stopped once while on my way to work for a headlight being out. I was spoken down to because of how i went through an area that had emergency vehicles (fire truck, police, etc) and was told i must "slow down and move over" even though i did slow down i could not move over due to oncoming traffic and a double yellow single lane with vehicles on both sides of the shoulder. I was told my headlight was out (true). The cop then played the "i smell something" game, even though i had never had any alchohol or drugs in my car anytime in the 5+ years i owned the car, because i dont use them. I refused to let him search my car, to which he responded "why, are you hiding something?" He then got his dog and his dog "alerted" to my vehicle, he then tried getting me to "confess" and tell him what was in my car, again, i refused to say anything. He searched my car for over half an hour and found nothing because there was nothing, surprise. I was also late to work with my cars paint (now destroyed) from a dog jumping and climbing all over it.... Thats why i hate cops, they dont do shit for the average person except harrass and berate you and its almost always done on the basis of assumption (profiling) for whatever reason. Call them in an emergency, theyll show up 30 minutes later and shoot your dog while they are at it. Cops are the teeth of the state and are just armed tax collectors, that is their main purpose. These are the situations where real moral outrage is actually justifiable. I understand that we don't know the context of why the officers suspected drugs to be on the bus; however, this is wholly unacceptable without some overwhelming reason. I'm not one to get involved in areas/conversations like this, but even I, find this to be troubling (regardless of race).
This is deserving of moral outrage, absolutely, but if your insinuation is that the now common police involved murder isn't even more deserving of outrage then you need to take some time to reconsider your life.

officers can make a dog alert on command using visual cues. I refused to let him search my car, to which he responded "why, are you hiding something?" (coercion) He then got his dog and his dog "alerted" to my vehicle, he then tried getting me to "confess" and tell him what was in my car, again, i refused to say anything. Ultimately the desk sergeant stated that as he found it he HAD to arrest him, but immediately released him with a warning only which was the minimum he was required to do by law. He apologised for waking us up and said thank you for the cup of tea which my housemate had made for his arresting officer!

Wow.. so much for your constitutional rights.. No warrant? No problem. I'm a cop I do what I wan't.
Why is it so difficult for law enforcement to NOT violate people's state and federal civil rights?
They were passing through a high intensity drug trafficking area….you run that risk when you travel through those areas.
Its the power trip, these ppl are not right in their mind

@@SM-cq4uq…these officers have obviously seen this before when they stopped a bus and found contraband. Even if a federal lawsuit was filed because of this, it would likely fail. I’ve been stopped by law enforcement while traveling through one of those areas…there’s nothing you can do about it.
This was strange I wonder if someone called into a tip
Illegal search. Outrageous!!!! I guess black folks need to only travel with a lawyer now. Any decent lawyer would shut that nonsense down in a heartbeat.
Up until a few months ago I must confess that I ignorantly supported law-enforcement in this country. After being encouraged by my children to actually look at the hundreds of hours of UA-cam videos from things like First Amendment auditors I have come to realize that law-enforcement in this country is beyond redemption. We are way past transparency and reform. It is structurally broken. There’s simply is no accountability for these people. I’m done with this crap. We all need to demand that this system is torn down right to its core
In america, you gotta stand up for your rights, because civil assest forfetures and unwarranted stops are getting out of hand.
In reality, though... There may be 100's of hours of videos here of bad cops, there are millions of cops doing good things, but not getting proper recognition.
So whats your plan? DEFund ThE POLiCE?
Look how well that turned out in progressive states, yes reforms are needed, but you're USING ONE INSTANCE from thousands upon thousands of instances to support your crazy point.
@@bilaljahi5364 Horrible.
@@bilaljahi5364 Why did they beat you up? Were you sitting on your front porch or just walking down the street and they ganged up on you? Yeah, I can see why something like that would change ones mind toward cops.
That area of I95 is a trap for the Liberty County PD that is called revenue enhancement. I lived just north of there and traveled that area daily. always went just under the speed limit and never changed lanes. They pull everything over.
Yeah its probably the out of state tags that got their attention. I highly doubt it's racial. Upstate sc cops love getting out of state tags due to the guns a drug they get from them
If every person or female that was a student on that bus they should become a attorney that would be the great irony to the story if they became a lawyers!
That is absolutely a violation of their constitutional rights. It definitely was unlawful search or seizure
