I loved the Guess Who since '67 when I first heard "These eyes". This band is still to this day one of my top 5 favorites and Burton Cummins, what a voice!
I feel like I'm decades younger, this came out in 1965, I was in Jr. High! Old lady now 66 will be 67 this month. Sure glad we have all this great music to listen to now
@@williamsomerville-x7qOh my. I had heard it before but didn't know it was Guess Who until about 3 years ago. I remember liking it when I was a young child.
Music fans out there in the world we need all to get the word out there on line to sign the petition the Guess Who 4 the Hall, to get them in the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland in the States, that they hugely deserve!
Truly the first GREAT Rock and Roll song that reached out of the radio with that driving beat and grabbed me. My introduction to the Guess Who that would foster a love for this, forever great rock bands of all time.
Just saw Bachman Turner in Victoria May 26th, 2014 at the Royal Theater and they played this. Randy said this was the first song that got him on the radio. Great stuff - and at 70 Randy blew me away! They guy is an amazing guitarist!
That song has been stuck in my brain since the 60s band was playing mud hole swimming hole in my home town stoughton wisc.father went to see them play block from home!
It is the most basic and elementary Rock and Roll song. It expresses the most basic and elementary emotion of a young teenage boy in the presence the girl that awakens him. It is perfection! 😃
I went to a general admission show at like 2 in the afternoon to see them in Memphis. We were early and were right down in front. The little girlies in Memphis really liked this band. They were throwing flowers at them. The stage was covered in flowers. It was a good show.
The 2nd best Guess Who concert behind Running Back Through Canada. We need to start a petition for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Shame) for these guys especially Burton and Randy.
I was at this concert. This is the REAL Guess Who for all those who have been duped or scammed by the current BOGUS Guess Who band who is misleading people in order to get these unfortunate people to come to their concerts. Long live Randy and Burton.
Wow.i know some artist who dooesnt rock that hard live when the years go by.but not them!not who? guess who?! not the mighty Guess Who!yes!they sound incredible here and they look incredible here with passion and grace. even that this is 1983.because every year is good for them.and the year 1983 was their year!i love this version of the song and i love this band!!
Also here is an interesting fact: Performed many times by The Who, (sometimes in a medley with "Spoonful"), perhaps most famously at Woodstock in 1969 and on Live at Leeds in 1970. In Randy Bachman's autobiography, when he met Who bass player John Entwistle, he was told that people constantly got The Who and The Guess Who mixed up. Tired of being yelled at for not playing the song, The Who started to just to keep the crowd happy. Bachman responded that The Guess Who had the same reasons for having to play My Generation
@@deanquackenbush8295 Who is Chad Allan?? Chad Allan was the founder of this group (in 1962)!! And the first two names of the group were "Chad Allan and the Reflections" and then "Chad Allan and the Expressions", before becoming The Guess Who. "Shakin' All Over" came out in 1965 under the name "Chad Allan and the Expressions", before they became The Guess Who, but their great fame was achieved as The Guess Who. Of course Burton Cummings is the lead vocal in this video.
I really like this version, I know Chad sang the original. Wish I was there. There is a vhs of this show and a double lp (don't think its on cd). I saw the Guess Who reunion tour in 2002, they are my favorite band. Thank you!
@m1kewithaone Both the Who (1970) and the Guess Who (with Chad Allan, 1965) did a kick-ass version of this song. I am a Who fan myself, and I do like their version. The Guess Who also kicks ass with the song as well.
This one is definitely great, but not technically a three piece with the keyboard, and I personally like The Who's version best, just because it's the heaviest cover I've heard of this song.
@@debbiesims138 Yes, that is Chad Allen (rhythm guitar) and Bob Ashley plays the piano. Burton was not on the original recording, but he sings this song just like Chad Allen.
The best ever version ever recorded was by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates who also did a far better stage act than the Guess who. Allegedly Johnny Kidd wrote the number in 25 minutes whilst taking a break during a gig.
Cummings, wow! One of the most amazing rock lead singers! The Guess Who, what a band!!!!

What a 1965 memory! 5 years later, I was given an all-expenses paid trip to Vietnam from September 1970 to April 1972.

It's a crime that they aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
You can say that again!!!!
I know Rock and Roll for 45 years. A crime it is.
Screw the R&R HOF. I don't base what is worthy by what they think. Stupid criteria for membership
Agreed. Because if you look at half the inductees and compare them to The Guess Who it will drive you nuts.
HOW IS THAT GEEEEEEEEEEEZE !!! Depeche Mode goes in this year. YIKES !!!
One of my favourite Band, with a songs like No Time.etc etc
All of these songs I listened to and didn't know it was the The Guess Who!!!!! I love them.!!!!!!!#!!!

This is freaking amazing! Damn, these guys kick ass.

How is it a tearjerker? It's not a sad song at all.

Yeah, Johnny Kidd had reached out of the radio 5 years earlier in 1960 to British fans. Lead is impersonating JK's voice. Should have been sued.
After so many years today i see the video n the feeling of awesomeness.
Grew up in Winnipeg watching these guys awesome

Unreal voice.

Great post! I have always loved Burton Cummings' voice. So distinctive.
I love this band!
My favorite song by The Guess Who , first saw them in 1965
I first saw Johnny Kidd do this in 1960.
Of all the various groups that've done this song...these guys did the best version of it ever. At least in my opinion anyway.

One of the top five R&R voices of all time, IMHO
I've seen pub rock bands here in England that would play this lot under the table with this number.

The lead singer on this song is Chad Allan. This song was recorded before Burton Cummings joined the group in late 1965.
