Metallica, Van Halen, Journey, Godsmack, Avenged sevenfold, AC/DC, etc, but I also love R&B, Funk, classical, classic rock etc. Point being there is so many genres and Prince could play them all, he did a Zeppelin cover one show in Vegas around 2004, 2005 time period that is epic! Me too. Brought up on Jimi, swear Prince as talented and at the top of his game here. Gonna look up the Zeppelin cover, Whole Lotta Luv. Alex in Norway.
I'll tell you what upsets me: someone gave him a pressed fake Vic with fetty in it, no one back then knew this was occurring, they say Elvis was the king, Prince had more talent in his pinky finger than Elvis.

May 1st 2004 I had to be dragged to Prince’s Musicology Tour concert by my wife. And that night I became a Prince fan! That man could put on a show! But what was most striking to me was a crowd of 15,000 just having a good time no matter who was standing next to them! Prince not only could entertain, he could make an audience be as one. Not many in the industry have had that talent!
there are lots of excellent musicians and artists , that work very hard to be at the top of the game. But every once in awhile one comes along that just has a god given talent and was destined to be a star from the day he/she was born, regardless where or when he/she was born. Prince is one of them. It may be a long time before such a talent will be seen again on this earth. Sometimes we take them for granted until they are gone.
You know he spent 10 hours a day rehearsing with his band. They would go home and he would continue to play and record. Sometimes he was still playing when his band came back the next day.
Prince had the uncanny ability to dance & sing with his physical body, and every bit as much, make his guitar dance and sing like a partner at the same time. And he made it all look so natural and effortless. The world was a better place with him in it.
@Jay Sharp thanks for the TMI. I've been clean 2 yrs now & just felt like I was reading my thoughts. There is something extra attached to some in this crazy life. I think it's pretty close & almost touchable but not all have IT....whatever IT is to slip back & forth from normal boring life & that powerful force. Prince was the ultimate musician & a true legendary star. There are just so many gone too soon & it does make this world a sadder, more boring place without him here. I'm so glad we have the internet now & can still watch & have those goosebumps!!!

Prince never got enough props for his awesome voice. 🖤💜🖤 Now all the music magazines like to pretend they loved Prince all along, but they rarely ever gave him the respect he deserved. He had it all: style, groove, the funk, the voice, the skills on 27 plus instruments. True fans know. We know. We love U, Prince!
The look on the faces of the audience they are absolutely in awe of the guy. I found this clip a few weeks ago and I play it almost everyday just gives me a great lift and makes me feel real good .
This is quite simply a true and real genius at work. Effortless, elegant, powerful and supremely talented. Five years on - what a terrible loss. Miss your brilliance, Prince.
I worked the Purple rain Tour as a tech. You would be surprised at how many of the tour staff reunited when Prince died. Prince's office manager is one of my dearest friends.
Prince understood Music. He was well read, and studied and practiced daily. You don’t just happen to get this good, he had the drive and daily discipline, and he expected the same from all his band. He was always constantly learning. His time has now gone. You wont see it again.
Such a treasure! I’m so blessed to have been able to see Prince live! I wish everyone would have been able to hear/see him live. Absolutely amazing and simply the best! 💜💜💜💜💜
Undeniably the baddest most iconic genius to ever walk this earth !!! Those of us who connected with Prince and his genius immediately can feel the loss of his presence in this life !!!!

Prince is possibly the most natural and comfortable looking guitarist you could ever see. This clip is fantastic at showing just how natural he is with it. Then of course you add all his other musical talents and you can look back on him and think he wasn't human. Amazing musician!
yes and it looks all so easy. When I hear the music, it is as if I could go out (I play no instrument, LOL) and do the same. But I definitely can not, nobody can!
Like I always say when discussing Prince, even if he lost his voice before becoming famous, he would've become Prince nonetheless... by playing the guitar. Or the keys Or even the bass.
Prince was just the Master....nobody compares., never will. 60 years of Rock n roll....distilled into this, the world and our music is on the slide. Rest easy my Prince...
I was at this show in Inglewood CA, at the Forum. It was one of the most creative shows I've seen. Prince toured for several sold out shows in a row with a different opening act each night (all tickets were like $25 each)! Musical genius!!!
WHAT A JAM!!! respect from a metal head... Always admired Prince as a spectacular musician but this is next level!!! I immediately fell to the Funk!!! Thanks for sharing this!!
He’s not a very technical player, but he rocked the shit out of his style. A true showman! I’m not a huge fan of his, but his contributions to the music industry will never be forgotten
When Prince was in high school, he seldom attended class...he just hung out in the band room all day. The teachers realized how gifted a musician he was and just let him alone. - Bassist Andre Cymone
I had teachers like this in school, they could see that all I wanted in life was to play music… and so they literally let me sit and noodle at the back of the classroom during class… it’s my opinion that educators should help you find your calling - not force a pre prescribed one size fits all educational experience onto everybody - I mean, christ, look how good of a musician it allowed Prince to become ☺️. Really wish I could’ve seen him live, I often watch these clips and I’m absolutely floored by the whole thing!
Agree… I had an art teacher who fostered my skills and let me do whatever I wanted in class because my skill was above and beyond the class. Of course I had to produce, but it was completely up to me with zero curriculum. He also taught me a lot about what I thought art was and he helped me get into a college level summer course at a reputable art school. He’s one of the few who’s name and face I clearly remember.
I have watched so many of his live performances. Watch his face. He is feeling everything. His mouth twitches...he is in full blown rocker mode. I wish I could have seen him in concert. A great loss to the music community. Still love him. Stil listen.
The thing about a Prince performance was he never went through the motions, he always played songs he liked and every fiber in his being was on tap. Something as simple as bending notes on his guitar required his whole body to do it, he would contort and make strange faces, but those notes would bend and that guitar would sing. Even in the song itself, he didn't do a Prince cover of Wild Cherry, he paid homage to Wild Cherry, it wasn't about him, it was about sending the audience home with something they'll never forget.
He FELT the music, mind, body and soul...notice also the extreme caliber of musicians he surrounded himself with...truly the "cream" rising to the top!👍👍👍
@@illiadmcswain3956 Hehe yeah, I call them the New Power Boots. If you watch the whole show you can see him bring the power higher the moment he changes into them, they're magical funky boots 💜
just the pure orchestration of his ability to direct everything.. sheer excellence on all fronts, and above all that his hendrix like posturing just puts him in another class.. the purple one reins supreme.
He was very much in control on what was happening. There is always a *conductor* wherever a band is concerned. His singers and musicians in his band were very talented and he expected no less.
It always makes me smile when people rediscover Prince. A 5 foot box of musical genius. “He played all those guitar solos?” Yep. He also wrote other people’s songs. Watch the Super Bowl concert. Mind blowing.
Ein Witz??????? Wenn nicht, hast du keine Ahnung!!! Jeder der besten Musiker auf dem Planeten wird dir den Namen PRINCE nennen - auf die Frage nach den ALLERGRÖSSTEN!!!!!!

I went to a Prince show with my then girl friend ( now wife of many years) I reluctantly went. I walked out of that arena blown away completely by this guy. An absolute bad ass musician.. guitar player . Dancer. Electrified Entertainer..band leader..miss ya man....
I met Prince when I was 12...I was at a bookstore in Culver City buying some books for school and my mom went to the register to pay. The cashier said she had already started ringing up another customer. Then out of nowhere Prince apologized and asked the cashier to add our books to his order. My reaction was "oh my God you're Prince" and he was asking me about Grapes of Wrath like it was no big deal
Bryan - I have no words that are even remotely adequate enough to describe how phenomenal Price was. I wish I could have seen him in concert - or just somewhere standing there looking pretty - HOW AWESOME your story is!
🕊🧖🏽♂️🕊Thank you for this. These are the stories that get watered down or ignored in favor of stories that may or may not be true. No one is perfect, except apparently the “ people “ selling their stories to tabloid, magazines and “ tell all books “. It’s so obvious now why Prince preferred spending time talking to people he never met before. I think you probably made his day.🖤🍇💜📖💜🍇🖤
His passing was a huge loss to music and entertainment industry. Multi talented, unreal stage presence and such an amazing ability to draw you into his performances. Without a doubt one of the best of all time.
WHY? WHY has this only just landed in my YT feed????????? A combination of one of my all time fave artists playing one of my all time fave songs!!!!!!!!! I can’t decide what made him so special - his guitar playing, his dance skills, his singing voice, his epic song writing. I am sitting in my house in Scotland, it is 09:15AM, the weather outside is grey and overcast, and I am smiling ear to ear 😊
This full concert is a weird one… 13 covers… it seems more like an after-show. The full concert is on blu-ray with the deluxe edition of the new album, Welcome to America.
But he wasn't ready - when he hits the snare drum at the beginning of the song, the snare is OFF, so he has to put it on, but it sounds like a tom on the first couple of hits. AND he was on camera. Had to be embarrassing
@@skenley1 He didn't leave that snare strainer off. Maybe a drum tech or roadie turned it off between encores? He laid down the tempo and killed the groove. Total pro. It's not how you start (and, not his fault) it's how you finish. #respect

Me too. Brought up on Jimi, swear Prince as talented and at the top of his game here. Gonna look up the Zeppelin cover, Whole Lotta Luv. Alex in Norway.
Great cover of one of the rare White funk bands (Wild Cherry).
Did plenty of his own good stuff too (like Purple Rain).
I'll tell you what upsets me: someone gave him a pressed fake Vic with fetty in it, no one back then knew this was occurring, they say Elvis was the king, Prince had more talent in his pinky finger than Elvis.
As a fan of metal/rock you may enjoy this performance as well. Although a long-time Prince fan, I was left speechless after hearing it for the first time!

One of the best. I am 67 years old and continue to jam to his guitar. An icon
😅😅😅😅
He had it all - looks, talent, originality, the right vibe, style, and charisma. RIP Prince you brought us so much joy!
But addiction to same Drug MJ was. 😮😂
What a losß
May 1st 2004 I had to be dragged to Prince’s Musicology Tour concert by my wife. And that night I became a Prince fan! That man could put on a show! But what was most striking to me was a crowd of 15,000 just having a good time no matter who was standing next to them! Prince not only could entertain, he could make an audience be as one. Not many in the industry have had that talent!
Prince spoke about getting his masters back.
Prince is THE MASTER
there are lots of excellent musicians and artists , that work very hard to be at the top of the game.
Thank you 😪
You are so right brother, some folks just put in the extra effort to be the best they can be
Yes. It's not everyday that a Prince comes along. He is missed.
One of the best everrrr!!!
Now kids… this right here is called a jam session. Pure. Performance. Prince.
@Jay Sharp P planned to exit the party in 2016 & 4/21. 2016 was the year of demoralisation (Trump, Brexit, Right Wing division in the West) towards the 'new normal' normalisation period (2020-2030) on the 4 stages of ideological subversion to the 4th Industrial Age.
P was fighting this time we're living in harder than ANYONE! Dozens of songs dedicated to this time. DOZENS.

2020+ = Digital Garden (2001), My Computer, Sl@ve, New World, Art Official Cage, Clouds, Deconstruction, Revelation, Silicon, Radical Man : 2045 & many more songs.
Decades ahead of the curve by 5-10-20 years

Do not pass by his incredible guitar work
@Jay Sharp 8 years clean from crack. I am lucky l didn't overdose. God had better plans fo me. To live my best life. I am sober and blessed. Thank you so much for this opportunity to share a portion of my story.

John Blackwell was such an AMAZING drummer...RIP Sir💜

He was killing it on drums. He never dropped a beat.

@thelastvigil111 Yes, he died a few years ago😢. Amazing drummer.

We miss U Prince!💜💜💜
💕
They said Prince in his teenage years he would be practicing with his band for ten 8 hours day consistantly.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hearing this tears me up. All that talent gone. Nobody could make a guitar sing like Prince could.
13 minutes of outstanding genius! Utterly brilliant! Any kids out there who say “Prince, who?” Educate them with this! This is real music played by an exceptionally talented and cool guy. So sadly missed. RIP Prince, hope you’re rocking and funking up there xx
The Earth is four BILLION years old and YOU got to live at the same time as Prince and David Bowie.
No, i'm right there, without Prince, pitty, i miss him !
The Love Symbol. what a great "Funky" Boy
And David,Freddie, was simply splendid.
Say thatva lil louder please
And I got to witness the music of the 70s and 80s.. lucky me.
That's actually significant in my world heh. Prince on bass..
Stuff like this is priceless now. Prince and this band is just KILLIN’ it! Miss him so, so much.
so true xox🔥🔥I miss him so much too.
Totally agree.
Yeah man, bad to the bone 🦴!
Miss him? Did you know him personally? Or do you just mean you miss his music?
@@toriawelsh7274 I miss him in the sense that I have been listening to him since 1978 and I am not going to most likely get anymore gems like “1999” Purple Rain” or “Sign O’the Times.” This video has everything that made Prince great and I miss the anticipation (almost 40 years) of getting new music from him….
This is a beautiful treat!! Dear Prince, I love and miss you so much!! Thanks for making me smile through the pain tonight! Purple Rain 4eva!! 💜💜💜💜❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹💋❤️💜💜💜
I’m 63, got to see the Stones, Led Zeppelin, kinks, lynyrd skynyrd, ac/dc, allman bros., dead, fleetwood, richard thompson, and more of the great guitar bands. NOBODY played with more heart and soul than our good buddy Prince…

50 years on the planet, 1st time seeing this, so badass in everything he's done
And he kicked ass at Basketball I hear.
I've been playing guitar for 27 years and my jaw is on the floor.
Maintenant tu dois essayer d'être aussi fort que lui
And don't forget...self taught . No formal guitar lessons. Only God given raw talent here
you should see him playing drums....
I play guitar I went to a Prince concert sat in front row after seeing him play I didn't touch my guitar for one week. And I can really play
Go check out Prince and Penny Kravitz at Paisley Park! Holy Smokes!
That's gotta be one of the most tastefully balanced solos I've ever heard, and mans made it look so effortless🤌🏽✨
Prince is possibly the most natural and comfortable looking guitarist you could ever see. This clip is fantastic at showing just how natural he is with it. Then of course you add all his other musical talents and you can look back on him and think he wasn't human. Amazing musician!
WORD....while playing actual music!
yes and it looks all so easy. When I hear the music, it is as if I could go out (I play no instrument, LOL) and do the same. But I definitely can not, nobody can!
I was thinking the same - the most natural, relaxed and gifted guitarist since Hendrix
Like I always say when discussing Prince, even if he lost his voice before becoming famous, he would've become Prince nonetheless... by playing the guitar.
Or the keys
Or even the bass.
I totally agree. Any instrument he played, and there's A LOT of them seemed like an extension of himself that he was born & blessed with.
There will never be another like him. The talent. The style. The charisma. The swagger. The incomparable, eternal COOL.
Sadly that is the word
There will be someone like him. In 1000 years more or less. This is the time needed by human kind to give birth to another genius.
Well at least the world still have Justin Biber

even his straight up improve stuff is tight. he may riff off in some weird direction that at first sounds wrong, but he makes it work.
I am guilty of completely ignoring Prince's pop output. This is hands down jaw dropping performance. I am glad I stumbled on this video on YT.
Yup! I was there myself. This was part of his 28 night show. His only worthy adversary Michael Jackson was preping to outdue.
What year was this, I was living in L.A at this time?
WHAT A JAM!!!
respect from a metal head...
Always admired Prince as a spectacular musician but this is next level!!! I immediately fell to the Funk!!! Thanks for sharing this!!
Prince was like a force of nature. Music just seemed to pour out of him, like breathing.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
He makes it look so effortless. The guitars just melt in his hands. What a terrible loss to the world. 😢
Dude just rocks whatever song he wants. Just his playing chops alone are incredible.

We desperately need more teachers like that!
@@BrettSmithDaniels I agree , .. I never saw Michael Jackson either 😭😭
He might have gone to the gym to shoot some hoops occasionally.
I love it when he says "Can I Play My Guitar" 💜🎸

I have watched so many of his live performances. Watch his face. He is feeling everything. His mouth twitches...he is in full blown rocker mode. I wish I could have seen him in concert. A great loss to the music community. Still love him. Stil listen.
Ain't no music like this no more.. REST IN LOVE PRINCE... There's so many kings, byt there's only one PRINCE.. GBU
Very well put! 💜
He FELT the music, mind, body and soul...notice also the extreme caliber of musicians he surrounded himself with...truly the "cream" rising to the top!👍👍👍
Dem boots though!...😆😆😆
That's a nice compliment
@@illiadmcswain3956 Hehe yeah, I call them the New Power Boots. If you watch the whole show you can see him bring the power higher the moment he changes into them, they're magical funky boots 💜
Why can’t there be concerts this simple yet this amazing anymore..
Have you ever heard of a band called phish?
Simply because a lot of music nowadays is shite compared to this
just the pure orchestration of his ability to direct everything.. sheer excellence on all fronts, and above all that his hendrix like posturing just puts him in another class.. the purple one reins supreme.
He was very much in control on what was happening. There is always a *conductor* wherever a band is concerned. His singers and musicians in his band were very talented and he expected no less.
Ok, I get it. I see why everyone loved Prince so much.
It always makes me smile when people rediscover Prince. A 5 foot box of musical genius. “He played all those guitar solos?” Yep. He also wrote other people’s songs. Watch the Super Bowl concert. Mind blowing.
Prince has tested positive for the funk!!!
😂😂😂😂he did indeed
He caught the funk from others and then he spread his own Alpha variant. Don't want a vaccine against that variant.
Definitely this Purple variant is a more potent and infectious version of the original Funk.
I think you done started something here. LOL.

Woah!

Everybody make some noise for the amazing John Blackwell on drums. RIP.
John B came to WORK. He definitely understood the assignment.
But he wasn't ready - when he hits the snare drum at the beginning of the song, the snare is OFF, so he has to put it on, but it sounds like a tom on the first couple of hits. AND he was on camera. Had to be embarrassing
Yeah, he was in the pocket for this.... Your either all in or not in at all during a performance like this....
@@skenley1 He didn't leave that snare strainer off. Maybe a drum tech or roadie turned it off between encores? He laid down the tempo and killed the groove. Total pro. It's not how you start (and, not his fault) it's how you finish. #respect
