Watching and hearing that video just brought me tears of utter joy! I kid you not. This man not only posesses the best voice in rock, he can write a mean boogie-woogie rock and roll tune, too! Whoo-hoo! Rock and roll!
@bwho : I'll second that. Burt is the best vocalist I've ever heard, and I'm 55 years old and have played professionally for a number of years. Burt's been my absolute favorite for many years.
Been a big Burton fan since 69/70. Never saw him in person until August 2001 at Syracuse NY. Have seen him more than a dozen times since, and never been disappointed. Will be watching for shows this year, will travel almost anywhere. How about that for an endorsement?
I want to go to, if anyone's going please take me with you, I only saw him once in Santa Barbara several years ago my hometown for 60 years but not anymore I miss it dearly now in the boonies where there's no culture
Oh and he still rocks, Last seen September 2012 at Sun Peaks Resort, British Columbia. WOW like he did not want to leave the stage. He has so much great music and stories to share! We love you Burton ...
I mean that snare sound! reminds me of when I used to practice my chops on my old, mothers, beanbag chair! still trying to get that sound today in my rock and blues outfit! maybe it's EQ? Anyhow, great performance!
EQ definitely plays a role and some compression. Also, the tuning of the snare is not as high in pitch. From the mid 70s to the late 80s, a lot of drummers had a fat and deep snare sound.
Thanks to cousin Roger for buying this album for me when I was 12 years old. It's what made me want to be a rock keyboard play and I'm still at it to this day. Thanks most of all to Burton.
Christ, 25 yearsw plus, and still, just still!!!! one of the best piano seranades ever. You just plain assed rock Burton. and this, is 5 years after that.! May God bless you for the fun you brought to a confused and musically challenged generation. Joseph
This is simply one of the best "Live" performances ever captured on camera. In my opinion. of course. ABBA and Burton and the Guess Who are my favorites of a generation past, and I;m 61. JF
Oh boy. If you ever get the chance. People were remarking that he is still hitting all the notes, playing the songs in the same key... And he is talented, yet down-to-earth and humble. Seems to be enjoying himself, there is "joy" there. I came to know his music in the 80's, my own way to rock, your backyard, fine state of affairs, THEN realised he was the other genius half of the Guess Who. WOW! Wow. Wow. When the key board started for "These Eyes," WOW!!!!
Hi all... holy smokes! I saw him last night in Vancouver... aMAZing. He is 61 and is still so cool, so talented- and a funny man! People went nuts, and were mostly his age-ish!
"My Own Way To Rock"....is the GREATEST Album? EVER!!!!! I wore-out an 8-Track tape of it. I paid $40. for a 33LP Album, jst to have it for posterity! Burton is the BEST!!! I jam to his tunes whenever I need to ROCK!! He set the pace, with his jammin' on the Piano Keys....the keys never stood a chance!!
If you want to forget all your troubles and problems in the world for a few hours, go see Burton Cummings in concert. He puts on the best show and all your troubles will be forgotton (well at least while you're there).
Great video!. It was treat to have have met Burton back in my radio days. Pls visit my Radio Rock and Roll Days to see a neat shot of him & I backstage.
Lord how I love those two young girls at 3:20-3:24 ! Take my silver dollaaaah, change it into quarters, shove 'em in the record machine. Bet they're still rockin' to this tune just like I am. :o].
I was at this concert. This is the REAL Guess Who for all those who have been duped or scammed by the current BOGUS Guess Who band who is misleading people in order to get these unfortunate people to come to their concerts. Long live Randy and Burton.
Great camera work on this video. It shows just how great a pianist BC is. Some nimble left hand work there. Could have done with more video of the bass player, that walking bass line is top notch.
@TheInvincibleViolet Well, not sure what Burotn is up to these days, but Randy is still rocking. Has teamed with Fred Turner again (of BTO) and on tour. (All Winnipeg boys.) They sound as good as they ever did! I don't know how Fred's voice stands up!! He still can sceam it out. Randy has a show on CBC radio in Canada. Let me know if you want the times/stations.
@Dogheadj No doubt. I love old Guess Who songs. Like 'Attila's Blues' and 'Road Food' off the 'Road Food' album. That is a band that took Kurt Winter's enormous talent for writing and playing blues songs and Burton's great voice and piano work and great talent for writing songs and just plain rocked the house for many years. What a great band. Not to mention Randy Bachman's great abilities as well. Makes for one great time was had by all! Rock On!
Celebrities seem to be the last people who grasp this concept, because they don't live like an average citizen they live a "sheltered" life fed information u need to know and no more
I know I have posted here before (several times, maybe!) but wouldn't these guys have been great on the American Grafitti sound track! After all, they did the Wolfman thingee!
the guy is playing a white Baby Grand Piano....prtty classy....and Randy Bachman...remember,this is the internet, take my "knowledge" of pianos, with a grain of salt
Always liked his voice. And what a piano player too!
Nobody is a better vocalist than Burton Cummings. Nobody. And he does it while bopping all over the place :)
Stand Tall is a good song that demonstrates his voice
I concur
maybe one better vocalist...Otis Redding
Roger Daltrey gives Burton a run for his money.
the better vocalist died in a plane crash...Otis Redding
Bought the album still own it. Still love it...Been a fan of Burton Cummings with and without The Guess Who......The man is amazing !!!!!
Hello Tonya, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
Watching and hearing that video just brought me tears of utter joy! I kid you not. This man not only posesses the best voice in rock, he can write a mean boogie-woogie rock and roll tune, too! Whoo-hoo! Rock and roll!
Wow he sure gave it up in that performance. Canadian Gold ! Can't express how much we appreciate you!
@bwho : I'll second that. Burt is the best vocalist I've ever heard, and I'm 55 years old and have played professionally for a number of years. Burt's been my absolute favorite for many years.
not only is Burton the best voice in R&R, he can play the hell out of that piano...great riffs
Been a big Burton fan since 69/70. Never saw him in person until August 2001 at Syracuse NY. Have seen him more than a dozen times since, and never been disappointed. Will be watching for shows this year, will travel almost anywhere. How about that for an endorsement?
gqjohnny please take me with you
I want to go to, if anyone's going please take me with you, I only saw him once in Santa Barbara several years ago my hometown for 60 years but not anymore I miss it dearly now in the boonies where there's no culture

I played this song in an old band 20 years ago. It's as much fun to play as it is to listen to..
Now that's some quality performance. Burton, you never let us all down. You're amazing!! I love you!!!
This is simply one of the best "Live" performances ever captured on camera.
In my opinion. of course. ABBA and Burton and the Guess Who are my favorites of a generation past, and I;m 61.
